Nick had to bite back the urge to tell Diane the other great news but he didn’t want to spill before Emily wanted to. Getting on with the call, he interrupted the conversation.
“Di, the reason I’m calling is because, you know that thing I told you about?”
“Oh, which one honey?”
They had to be careful so they didn’t give away what was happening. It was already mid afternoon and a few hours ahead of schedule. The proposal had happened already, because he was impatient, but he wanted this next phase to go well.
“We’ve just eaten lunch.” He said, cryptically, knowing Diane would understand. I need my appointment bringing forward. Like, in the next ten minutes.”
“Of course, Honey. I’ll be right on it.”
Ending the call, Nick glanced to a concerned Emily.
“What was that about?” she asked.
Nick smiled.
“You’ll have to wait and see.”
*****
Nick drove to the Queen Anne Hotel, the same one where Cora’s party was held, and the ‘fuck head’ had appeared. Emily didn’t know what was happening but she trusted Nick and she went along with whatever he was doing.
He stopped, got out and opened her door. He handed the keys to the valet and then held her hand as he led her through the entrance.
He seemed to be taking his time, leisurely strolling to the front desk.
“We have a reservation.” He said and Emily gasped.
She didn’t know what the reservation was for. They’d just eaten so she assumed it wasn’t for dinner. That could only mean…
We’re staying the night?!
She felt Nick gently squeeze her hand, the expression on his face showing that he knew she realised why they were there.
“Here’s your key. Your cases are already in your room.”
“Cases?” she asked, confused. How would they have cases if Nick had come from work? They’d left together, that morning, and he didn’t have anything with him.
“Come on babe.”
Emily was feeling anxious as they walked to the lifts. Getting in the open car, Nick pressed the button to the top floor.
The luxury suites.
Her heart pounded in her chest. He’d planned something, she was sure of it.
When they exited the lift, Emily saw that there were only four doors on that floor, meaning the rooms were huge. Coming to the door to the left, Nick swiped the card through the lock, the little light shone green and he turned the handle before gesturing for Emily to go in first.
What she saw had her gobsmacked.
The room was made up of cream colours, with the billowing drapes matching the furniture. The huge four-poster kingsize bed had the same drapes around the posts. A chaise at the end of the bed.
It even had a sofa and coffee table set, similar to the one in Culver city. Nick knew that she’d loved that room.
But that wasn’t what had taken Emily’s breath away.
It wasn’t the warm colours, the furniture or the huge bed that beckoned to her. No. It was the red contrast around the room and the flickering lights.
Red rose petals and lit candles.
The fragrance filled the room.
They petals were arranged into some sort of pattern and Emily had to look hard to see what it was.
They were hearts. Carefully placed and arranged making a pathway that led to another room.
“Come on.” Nick whispered, gently tugging on her hand.
Though the doorway, Emily stopped in the nicest bathroom she’d ever seen.
Sandy coloured mosaic tiles lined the huge corner shower and under the counters that housed double sinks.
Her eyes followed the path to a corner tub, already filled with hot water, rose petals floating on the surface.
“Oh my God.” She said in awe. “You planned all this? Today?”
Her voice came out squeaky as she fought back the happy tears in her eyes.
“I planned this for a while, but I wanted to make sure you were feeling better before I booked anything.”
Nick’s arms came around her waist and she turned in his arms.
“I love it.”
“I’m glad.” He said before kissing her, slowly, tenderly. “Let’s get you out of those clothes and into the tub.”
“You too.” She said with a shaky voice, the heat surging between her thighs at the thought of getting Nick naked.
Slowly stripping each other of their work clothes, they sank into the tub. Nick sitting back and Emily between his legs.
She let out a groan, feeling Nick’s hardness pressing into her.
His hands pressed her back, pushing her forward slightly and Emily sat up. He began to massage her. His thumbs circling over her tight muscles. Muscles that had worked hard from the sickness that had gripped her the past week.
“That feels so good.” She moaned out.
“Baby, I haven’t started yet.” He breathed into her ear, sending shivers down her spine.
His hands came round to her front, cupping her breasts. Kneading them and running his thumbs, softly over her sensitive nipples.
Emily’s breath hitched when she felt a hand lower to her stomach.
“Lie back on me.” He said, and Emily did. Laying her head back at the top of his chest by his shoulder.
His hand stroked across her stomach, caressing the area their baby would grow, before he dipped his hand lower.
“Yes!” She whispered when his fingers found her hard nub, circling and dipping between her folds.
Nick pushed his finger into her entrance, pulling back out and circling her again. Repeating the motion until she couldn’t hold back any longer; exploding as her orgasm crashed though her, his fingers massaging her as she did.
“I love making you cum.” He said, his voice strangled in arousal.
“That was so good.” She said, still trying to catch her breath.
Emily sat forward and turned round to face Nick, the water sloshing around her, some escaping over the side of the tub.
“I want you in me.” She demanded, seeing the flash of fire in his eyes.
“Emmy, you have no idea how much I want to sink into you right now.”
Emily straddled his thighs; the size of the tub making it easy to do so.
She reached down for his engorged length and position herself above him; sinking down until she was fully impaled. Her head fell back with the overwhelming fullness inside of her.
Nick buried his face in between her large mounds, kissing and sucking at her skin, swirling his tongue around her nipples and gently nipping; his hand on her shoulder blades, keeping her to him.
She began to rock her hips. Rolling them back and forth with the wonderful friction their bodies caused as they were joined.
Moving faster, Emily could feel the tingles increase, the pressure building and the flow of heat spreading out from her core.
She cupped his jaw, tilting his head so she could taste his lips. Hungry for him she licked into his mouth, sucking on his tongue as she mimicked her movements with his mouth.
“Nick.” She panted, breaking their kiss. “Nick, I’m… oh Goddddd!” she cried out as her climax hit her full force.
“Christ, Emmy!” Nick ground out as he swelled inside her, pumping his own orgasm deep inside her. “Baby!!!”
Nick held her tight as his release filled her.
“I love you Emmy. My Angel.”
“I love you too, Nick.” Emily ran her finger tips over Nick’s tattoo. The angel that looked like her, holding onto a heart- Nick’s heart.
“I was thinking of getting a tattoo.” She said suddenly, surprising Nick.
“Where?”
“On my arse.” She said, holding back a smile.
“What?” Nick look like he was about to choke as Emily giggled.
“I’m just kidding, babe. On my shoulder-blade.”
“What would you have?”
“Bitch.”
Nick’s eyebrows raised.
“Bitch?” He asked.
“Yes sir?” Emily purred.
Nick laughed and pulled her tight to him, water sloshing about.
They got out of the tub, letting the evidence of their session drain away, and showered.
Nick had pre-ordered room service and they had dinner, as they were wrapped in warm, fluffy robes; leaving out the champagne.
Emily didn’t even feel nauseated, glad that the food she was eating agreed with her.
“I couldn’t wait earlier.” He said suddenly and Emily paused, a strawberry half way to her lips. “This is where I was going to ask you to marry me, but I couldn’t wait.” He clarified and Emily grinned.
Her chest ached with his admission. He’d planned a romantic night for them, to propose to her. There was no mistaking that her pregnancy hadn’t pushed him to. They’d only found out a few hours earlier.
“I wanted to take you to the restaurant after work, but when you told me and then we went to the hospital, I knew you hadn’t eaten and I wasn’t prepared to wait until later. When you were in the bathroom at the hospital, I called the restaurant and brought the reservation forward to late lunch instead.”
Emily felt yet another round of tears prick at her eyes.
“I told Diane my plans. That’s why she insisted on taking you to lunch. I was practicing what to say to you.”
That was it. It was too much. The tears spilled over, flowing down and dripping from her chin.
“I packed our things when we were at my place. I kept them in the trunk. The valet guy got them out for us when we got here.” He continued. “Emmy, there’s something else I want to ask you.”
He looked nervous.
Just like earlier.
Emily didn’t know what would make him nervous. He’d asked, she’d said yes. What could he ask that would make him anxious?
Nick stood and walked over to the case, opening it. He pulled out something silver before closing his hand around it, hiding it from her view.
Sitting down again, he took a breath.
“I thought it a waste of time giving you this before, because we don’t spend our nights apart…” apart from the misunderstanding which Emily still felt guilty over “… but I think you should have it for a different reason.”
He held his hand out in a fist, for Emily to open her hand underneath. She did and he dropped a shiny, newly cut key into her hand.
Her eyes snapped from the key to his eyes.
“That’s a key to my apartment. I know it’s soon but I really want you to move in with me. Not just sleepovers and leaving some clothes for work. I mean all of your stuff. Everything.”
Emily’s breath hitched. Nick was asking her to live with him. Of course, after getting married they would, but immediately?
“I’m not saying your place isn’t good enough.” He said quickly. “But my place, our place, is bigger. We can live there until we get a house. If that’s ok? It might take a while and, the baby will need the room if he or she comes along before then.” He added.
The look in his eyes as he waited for her to think about it melted her heart. He looked so worried as he chewed on his lip.
Of course Emily wouldn’t have asked Nick to give up his huge apartment to live in her tiny one bedroom place.
“What would I do with my furniture?” She asked.
“We would get rid of mine and put yours in their place.” He replied with certainty.
Emily was pleased. What worried her was moving in and not feeling like it was her home because nothing was hers. Knowing he would happily give his own away, so she could keep them made her smile. But she knew what she wanted.
“That won’t be necessary.” She beamed whilst Nick wiped her tears. “Holly and Alex want their own place soon. I’ll transfer the lease to them. They can have it all.”
“Really?” Nick’s eyes lit up and Emily felt really happy. Happy that he was happy.
“Yes.” She sniffled.
“Thank you. You don’t know happy you’ve made me, Emmy.”
“If it’s anywhere near as happy you’ve made me then I think I do.”
Nick didn’t say anything else. He picked Emily up out of her chair and took her to the bed, still covered in rose petals, and he made love to her all night. Loving every inch of each other until they were exhausted.
*****
“Good morning my wife to be.” Nick whispered into Emily’s ear, whilst fondling her naked breasts.
“Mmmm.” She moaned lightly. “My husband to be is dangerously close to getting his bones jumped.” She said with a smile.
Nick moved above her and rested in between her thighs, his hard on ready for action.
“I’d like it to be closer than that.” He said as he teased her entrance with his tip.
“How about definitely?”
“That’s what I wanted to hear.” He growled as he pushed into her, rocking slowly until she came apart underneath him, before he released into her.
He’d never get tired of watching her as she climaxed.
His Emmy, his Angel. So beautiful she made his heart squeeze in his chest.
Today was the first day when everything would change.
They were engaged, they were going to live together, and they were going to be parents.
It was big, really big, and Nick couldn’t be any happier if he tried.
“How are we going to tell people?” Emily asked from beside him as they drove from the hotel.
They were going to be late for work but it didn’t matter. Diane had kindly taken care of his appointments, as he knew they wouldn’t make it out of the door before he’d made love to Emily at least twice.
“However you want, Emmy. That’s completely up to you babe.”
They talked about telling their families and how they would go about it. Emily had a good plan and it involved getting them all together at their place.
There were other things he needed to tell them too. Not just yet, but soon, and he needed Emmy with him when he did. He needed her support which she always gave him.
My Emmy, my Angel.
Getting out of the elevator, Diane greeted them with a hug and a smile.
“So…?” She asked.
Nick had told her about his plans to ask her to move in. He didn’t want her to know about the proposal before Emily did.
“Emmy’s moving in with me.” He said with the biggest face splitting grin ever.
“That’s wonderful!” Diane gushed, hugging them both again. “I’m so happy for you and… “ her words stopped short when her eyes caught something.
Emily’s hand.
“You didn’t.” She said in disbelief, her hand over her mouth.
Emily nodded and Diane burst into tears, pulling them back in for a rib breaking hug.
“Don’t tell anybody, just yet.” Nick began. “We haven’t told our families. You’re the first to find out.”
“My lips are sealed.” She blubbed. “I’m so happy for you both. Congratulations.”
“We’re going to invite everybody over, tonight, to announce our news. We’d love it if you could come.” Emily said.
“Of course!”
Getting through the work day was hard.
Nick could see his gorgeous fiancée working at her desk, teasing him with flirtatious glances and flashes of skin when Diane wasn’t looking, and now he had a long night ahead with their families coming over to their place for a get together.
Our place.
He smiled again.
The only things they needed to pick up from Emily’s old place were her clothes, toiletries and, of course, her stuffed kitty.
It was happening that day, not waiting a moment longer.
“Oh, God I’m nervous.” Emily said, holding her stomach as she paced the living room.
“Baby, don’t be. Everything will be fine.” Nick said halting her in her tracks with a hug. “They’re going to be happy for us, I know i
t.”
“I know, it’s just… I’m so happy.” Emily burst into tears.
“Oh baby.” He said, soothingly. “I’m happy too. The happiest I’ve ever been in my life.”
“It’s just hormones.” She said sniffling. “I guess I’m going to be prone to outbursts like this for a while.”
“And outbursts of extreme horniness.” Nick said, waggling his eyebrows, making Emily laugh.
“And it’s only going to get worse.” She smiled.
“Seriously?” He asked, his eyes wide.
“Deadly.” She replied as she massaged his growing erection through his pants.
“Baby I want to strip you right now and…” Nick’s sexy talk came to an abrupt end with the sound of the buzzer.
His stomach turned, nervously, because their families had just arrived.
Nick walked to the door and pressed the button to allow the elevator to his floor.
A couple of minutes later, the apartment was filled with their families and their siblings’ friends. They were practically family, so they’d thought it was only natural to invite them over too. Diane had also made it and she smiled, knowingly at them both.
Cora instantly made a beeline for Emily, hugging her tight.
“Thanks for coming guys.” Nick said, nervously as he and Emily stood together in the centre of the room, facing them.
The parents, and Diane, sat down on the sofa, as did Holly and Alex, and Ryan and Riss. The girls sitting on the boys’ laps.
Ben, Dev, Kyle and Kayla sat at the dining table.
*****
Emily’s stomach was rolling.
She was excited to tell them all hers and Nick’s news but she was worried what they would say.
Nick must have sensed her anxiety because her took her left hand in his right and winked at her as everybody sat down.
They were going to give them the news that had changed their lives. She had planned how to tell them but now it was happening, she was shaking like a leaf.
