Being with him filled me with joy. Each movement of his body in mine made me fly higher. When he growled and bit my neck, I spasmed against him, my legs going weak. I sank completely onto his shaft, moaning his name. It was more intense than any other time. I didn’t know whether it was because he was mine now, completely, or if it was the knowledge that he’d protected me, kept me safe. All I knew was that he was mine—my mate—and I would never let him go.

Sam rose up and threw me onto the bed so I lay on my back, my knees up. He moved between them and entered me again, began filling me with forceful, driving strokes. He and his wolf claimed me with the kind of single-minded passion I didn’t think existed for women like me. His hands roamed my body, his face buried itself in my hair, as if he couldn’t get enough of my skin, my scent. Each pull of his fingers echoed his desperate plunges deep inside me.

When I couldn’t take the pressure building inside me anymore, I ran a hand between our bodies to touch where I needed it the most, moving my fingers over my aching clit as his cock filled me, claimed me. His eyes followed the motion of my hand. He arched and growled my name, then exploded within me while I convulsed around his driving shaft. We stayed joined like that for long moments, spiraling back to earth together while we each caught our breath.

His arms twined around me and pulled me close. Buried in the scent of his rain-damp skin, I slept.

  Epilogue

I left the office ten minutes later than I’d planned, exchanging my white lab coat for my leather jacket. My coworkers were getting used to the idea that I was dating a member of the Howlers. Since Sam had come to sit in on one of my lectures and they’d gotten a good look at him, I think they’d even started to envy me.

  Who wouldn’t?

After Jeremy disappeared and I came back to work, the office was in shambles. My ex hadn’t been able to accomplish in a fully-equipped lab what I was able to do in Sam’s spare bedroom. But that didn’t matter, because I was able to finish quickly and submit the liquid serum for testing.

Life was pretty perfect. Sarah had even come up to the compound for dinner a few times, though she’d never be allowed to know the truth.

I walked out onto the sunny street and spotted my man near the curb, waiting for me. He looked so delicious wrapped in leather that I couldn’t help but take a bite.

“Sorry I was late, baby,” I said, bending to press my lips to his and lingering over the sweetness of his mouth. He tasted like peppermint. I nipped his bottom lip hard and he grinned.

“I’d wait forever,” he said simply, pulling on my ponytail. “Want to go out alone tonight?”

“No,” I said. “I’m going to help Madison make enough lasagna for everyone. We should go home.”

Home. It felt so good to say it and mean it.

“Then let’s go home,” he said with a grin. I pulled on my helmet and straddled the bike, wrapping my arms around him.

Once my body was nestled against his, Sam said, “Hold on tight,” started the engine and pulled out onto the road.
