by Rose Croft

“Hey,” Jill said and flipped the longer strands in front of her face to the side. She had on a one-strap, over-the-shoulder pink dress that was fitted and fell to her upper-thigh. A dragon tattoo ran down her arm.

Third-party guy was crowding us in as he stood behind me. Taylor eyed him as she touched her cheek to mine, loud whispering in my ear, “Come on, Theo, show me those moves.” She grabbed my hips and pressed against me, swaying with the music. “This is all a show for Roman, isn’t it? Make it count.” Jill moved in behind Taylor as we all made a cozy dance sandwich with unknown guy behind me. Regardless, I eyed Taylor with a pensive look. How she could seem so proper and friendly, but still get her digs in was actually impressive. And she was right. My motives weren’t exactly altruistic. But playing at this game felt as abnormal as an odd shape that didn’t fit into any of the usual slots. Unnatural. Awkward. I was a child playing dress-up in a suit several times too big for me.

“What are you implying?” I rushed out fighting the urge to walk away, but Taylor crowded in closer pressing me into the guy at my back who ran his hands over my hips. I stilled at the close contact, but found my voice. “If this is about Roman? You’re way off the mark.” Guilt flashed through me over what happened the other day at his house. What he did. What I gladly let him do.

“I don’t think I am, Theodora. I’m certain we will see soon enough.”

Soon, the wall at my back was ripped away and I heard, “Hey, what the fuck, man?” called out behind me as Taylor grinned recklessly, but her eyes held no mirth. “See?”

“Is this your idea of fun, Taylor?” Roman asked over my shoulder in a chilling voice. Although he didn’t touch me, I knew he was close; his heat radiated behind me loud and clear.

“Just trying to get your attention, babe.” She winked and leaned back against Jill, wrapping an arm above her, fingering her friend’s blond hair as they moved as one. She threw on a lazy smile as her eyes fell half-mast. “I think our little Theodora wants to play.”

  “Taylor, you’re drunk,” Roman growled.

She giggled as her hand drifted down the back of Jill’s neck as they moved together as though imprinted. “I have the right to let down my guard occasionally. Don’t I? I mean, you do.” I felt like I was in the middle of a conversation that wasn’t meant for me. Or maybe it was.

I skipped my eyes over Taylor and Jill, looking for Kenzie and Nick, but they weren’t around. “I need to find my friend.” Not wanting to hear anymore, I stepped around them quickly.

I spotted Axel who stood at the appetizer table with a girl draped at his side trying to feed him meats and cheese by hand. Gross. Bypassing the scenery, I asked, “Have you seen Kenzie?”

“Yeah, she and Justin took off.”

  Theodora

“Did she seem okay?” I pressed while Axel’s little groupie stared at me like I was an alien.

  “Yeah, Nick made sure.”

  “What does that mean?”

“It means what it means, Theo. She’s your friend, so we’re gonna watch out for her.”

Funny, neither one of us mentioned Justin, but it seemed we were both skeptical of his motives. Otherwise, why would Nick step in? I nodded, starting to feel a kinship with Nick and Axel. Dmitri was a mystery, and Roman was something else entirely.

“Thanks, Axel.” I laid my hand on his shoulder, while purple haired girl rolled her eyes.

“Seriously, I’m right here, bitch, and you’re hitting on him. Try to be more subtle.”

Axel raised his normally casual eyes. “Whoa, whoa. We don’t say that. And I don’t tolerate drama.” He glanced at me, and his full sensual lips quirked, although his delivery was serious. Even when he was being dismissive, he still found the humor. “Sorry, it’s best we cut our losses.” He shrugged nonchalantly settling a look that said not interested. Knowing Axel, he’d already cut his losses long before. Was Axel ever serious enough to worry about losses?

She rolled her eyes and huffed off as her hips swayed over dramatically. Roman approached with a grim look. I averted my eyes, trying to not be pathetic and noticed Taylor caress Jill’s cheek before she slinked away out of the room.

“I think your girl needs you.” It popped out of my mouth when he stepped in front of me.

“Which one?” Axel asked innocently, shoving a cracker in his mouth.

Roman shook off his comment and laid a hand on my arm. “Stop fighting me.”

“Wait. I’ve heard this story before. Maybe you should change the plot.”

Roman rolled his lips together. “Maybe I think you’re a liar because you already liked the climax. In fact, you screamed it out the other day.”

Axel snorted beside us with a fist covering his mouth as he waved his head from side to side, eventually walking off.

I dropped my chin, trying to ignore his words. I willed myself not to rise to the bait. Off to the side, Jill walked off in the direction where Taylor had passed minutes before. Roman shifted his eyes that way too. “Let’s go.” He pulled me along beside him.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

  “You’ll see soon enough.”

“I’m not going anywhere with you. I don’t trust you.”

His grip tightened and he dragged me along. “You want proof? Then you shall get it.”

I opened my mouth then closed it as I simmered on his words. Proof of what? My mind reeled with questions as we headed to a partially closed door down the hallway. “What—”

Roman’s hand closed over my mouth. “Shh,” he whispered. He walked us closer to the door. His palm slackened over my lips.

At first, I saw nothing but the partial view of a bed. Then, I heard a soft moan as two girls came into view, Taylor and Jill were locked in each other’s arms. My mouth formed an O, but I couldn’t look away. Taylor moaned as she twisted Jill’s head to shift with her own as they kissed with a fervent need that was all too sensuous and real. There was something primal, yet hot in what they were doing. I’ve never seen two people make out before. Much less two girls.

Frantically, Taylor yanked down the top of Jill’s dress as her breasts popped free and she drew a nipple in her mouth. Jill moaned and cupped Taylor’s chin. I was surprised, to say the least, because Taylor always seemed so aloof. But she wasn’t now. She was frenzied, with her hands all over Jill. Here I thought she and Roman…my thoughts trailed off as white-hot heat pulsed down my lower body and was hyper aware of Roman standing behind me. His hand feathered down my chin and caressed my neck. His breaths vibrated against my hair.

He didn’t seem angry or bothered by the scene as indicated by his touch. By his unruly silence. Was he aroused by this? Taylor lowered herself to her knees as she tugged the hem of Jill’s fitted dress over her hips. One hand crept around Jill’s exposed butt as she licked a trail up her mound. Her doe eyes watched her prey in licentious delight. Like Roman peered at me when he was nudged between my delicate skin. My thighs clenched involuntarily, my fingers curled into my palm. This was wrong. I was delving into voyeurism, not to mention invading someone’s privacy, yet I couldn’t look away. What was wrong with me? I was depraved, but he was too. I needed to stop this insanity. Back away and get my bearings. I gazed behind me at my bittersweet antagonist, holding back a gasp. Roman wasn’t watching them; his eyes were on me. Dark, intense, full of lust. His chest rose and fell in a sharp rhythm.

As time stood still and everything around us faded to nothingness, he lifted me in his arms carrying me away, back down the hall and opened a door to our right. We passed into the dark room and he closed the door just as quickly, leaning against it with me in his arms. No words were spoken. He spun me around and planted his mouth on mine as he kissed me with a frantic need like the cruel tormentor he was. I curled my hands into the fabric of his shirt as I met his lips just as fiercely. This was how it was. How it’d always been when we came together. A fire that sparked and once ignited, quickly burned out of control.

  I thought I was
going to combust into flames as our tongues slashed together in a dance as old as time. He ran his hands down my back and cupped my ass hard as he thrust against me. I wanted to crawl up his body and give him everything. It was crazy, insane, not to mention, irrational how I felt, but it was true, nonetheless. That was the proof he wanted me to see. I pulled back as if needing confirmation. “You and Taylor?”

“We haven’t. Never.” Before I could ask more, he claimed my lips again like he couldn’t get enough. His hand slipped between my thighs, fingers curled under the elastic of my thong, yanking it to the side as he pushed two fingers inside me. “God, you’re always so wet and ready for me. Do you know how that makes me feel?”

“Roman,” I moaned as he pulsed deeper, and I moved on his hand with need, shamelessly chasing my own pleasure. He trailed his mouth down my throat as my insides bubbled up.

“I love how your pussy trembles with my touch. I want to hear my name again, Corazón, as you come.” His tongue trailed over my delicate skin.

He thrust harder and faster; the friction was too much and yet not enough. I was throbbing with sensations that were elevating me higher and higher. “I’m. There. Oh God. Roman!” I was so high-strung as my climax struck me that I could barely speak. I clenched tightly against his fingers and gasped as his teeth dug into my skin on a growl, sucking relentlessly consuming me, taking everything from me.

As I came down from my high, he kissed the spot he’d marked alleviating the sweet pain. “You’re so fucking beautiful when you come,” he whispered against my skin. His swollen erection jabbed me in the stomach through our clothing. “I want to fuck you, Theodora. You’re all I fucking think about. Your tight, pretty pussy riding my cock.”

I gasped, shaken to the core by his words. Wanting him. Needing him. “Please.”

His lips trailed up my cheek. “Please what? Do you want me to fuck you, Corazón?”

“Yes,” I exhaled softly. I was still fluttering in the clouds from my climax. Roman was like a drug I could never quit. It only took one hit, and I was hooked. One fatal hit. Now, all I could do was chase the euphoria that came with being with him.

“I would. I will. But not here. Not tonight.” He pecked my lips and stepped back. If this was his way of tormenting us both, it was working.

I ran my hand down his stomach, clasping his belt and unbuckling it. I pushed him back against the door and caught the lazy grin on his full mouth from the moonlight pouring through the window. “My turn to make you scream my name.” I unfastened his slacks and jerked his pants and underwear down as his throbbing cock popped out. Long, thick, and proudly erect.

“I don’t scream,” he stated with an arrogant tilt to his head as he gripped his cock. “Ever.”

I watched as he casually ran his hand up and down his shaft. It was hot, not gonna lie, and I bit my lip before I dropped down to my knees, glancing up at him innocently, wrapping my fingers around his wrist. “We’ll see, Corazón.” I threw out his pet name for me and jerked his hand aside, curling my fingers around his base. “Get ready.” I moved in close and boldly licked the precum off his dripping tip before I took him in my mouth.

“Fuck, Theodora,” he groaned, while I roved slowly over the mushroom head, teasing him, savoring his salty taste. Soon, I took him deeper. Getting the feel of his thickness in my mouth. His head fell slack against the door and his fingers threaded through my hair. I relaxed my throat because it was a lot to take in. My tongue traced a path from his tip to as far down as I could go, and he clenched my head tighter. I slid my hand under his balls, cupping and caressing them while I kept a steady rhythm.

“Jesus, it feels so good.” His grip dug into my scalp, and he thrust into my mouth My eyes watered as I felt him hit the back of my throat over and over. It was overwhelming, but I wanted to take him to the brink, and I was charged by his words. “That’s it. Take my cock. Take it all.”

I felt the slow trail of tears trickle down my cheek as he fucked my mouth harder and deeper. “Shit. I’m. Gonna.” He inhaled as if he were gasping his last breaths of air and groaned as his cock seemed to go so deep I had to fight my gag reflex. “Theodora,” he grunted my name as I tasted his cum filling my mouth.

I drank him in swallowing every drop as he relaxed his hold on my head. He cupped my face as I swirled my tongue one final time over his cock. I peered up and licked his taste off my lips. My throat felt scratchy as I rasped, “I like hearing my name on your mouth.”

He thumbed my bottom lip watching me in fascination as though I’d just found the answer to world peace. “I like having your mouth wrapped around my dick.”

I gave him a look of surprise, but he laughed as he dragged me to him closely. “I like everything about you. Too much. Too fucking much.” He drove his lips into mine like time was overrated.

  Roman

“I’m taking you home,” I said as I released her and tucked my already semi-erect cock in my pants that was rising to life again like a phoenix before I changed my mind and fucked her in Taylor’s guest bedroom. What I planned to do with her, I wanted more time. Not at a party. I’d learned from my mistakes. In that sense, me fucking Theodora, probably wasn’t the smartest move I could make all things considered, but it was happening regardless. Eventually.

“I came with Nick.” She straightened her dress and ran a finger through her hair.

“So?” I asked casually, although I already knew. Although it still pissed me off when she mentioned his name. Earlier, he and I had come to an understanding. Or at least I thought we had. It was basically me telling him that if he touched Theodora, then I would break his pretty boy face. I’m paraphrasing, but Nick knew the score and at this point he was just messing with me. I’d rather have him hanging around her instead of some douchebag like the Ralph Lauren ad reject who was trying to dance fuck her from behind earlier.

In fact, I told Nick earlier to accompany her friend home and I’d take care of Theodora. He was concerned because both Kenzie and Justin were drunk and about to have an embarrassing argument. Justin was our teammate, but he was also a piece of shit when it came to boyfriend material. Nick was actually a decent guy when he wasn’t trying to fuck his way through school. But he never led on girls. Everything was always mutual. “I spoke to him. Besides, he already left to take your friend home.”

“I know, but I thought he’d come back.”

“Disappointed?” I fingered her neck that I knew would be bruised. A silent reminder who she belonged to.

“What, about Taylor?” she rebutted with furrowed brow. “So, you two…”

“As you can see it’s a show.” I exhaled, feeling a sense of relief telling her the truth. At least this truth. “For our parents. They thought it would be the perfect way to join the families.”

  “Like an arranged marriage?”

  “Kind of like that.”

“So you will marry her eventually?” Her voice was laced in disbelief.

“No. Taylor and I are keeping up this front to appease our families, for now. Her father is running for Lieutenant Governor and as soon as the election is done, this sham will be too. I’ve known all along that Taylor’s preferences run toward the same sex, but her parents aren’t exactly progressive in their thinking, nor accepting in that sense. Taylor and Jill have been together in secret for a few years. They love each other, and I’m just trying to protect her.”

“Your father won’t be happy when it ends.”

“I will deal with my father.” I pulled her in close. Soon, I vowed. Soon, I would be out from under Pop’s influence. “Trust me.”

“Where is she?” I asked, staring at Kenzie who stood at the door in a tank and yoga pants looking like she’d seen a ghost. When Theodora didn’t show up to class, my concern grew. When she didn’t answer my texts or calls, my annoyance jumped in along with my concern. When she didn’t show up for work, apprehension curled through my system. She desperately needed this job and wouldn’t do anything to fuck it up. When
I dialed Duffey’s, Chris only said she’d called in and told him it was a family emergency.

“She’s not here,” Kenzie answered quickly as her eyes darted around while I stood in the dorm hallway knowing she knew where Theodora was, and I would wring this girl’s neck if she didn’t start talking. “I don’t know where she is,” she added as her eyes shifted away.

She started to close the door, and I held out a palm easily keeping it open. “You do know, and you better start talking now. Her boss said she had a family emergency.”

  “I don’t know—”

“Goddammit. What happened? If she’s in trouble, I need to fucking know!” I shouldered inside and slammed the door shut before someone saw us. “Is she okay?”

Kenzie rubbed her temple, staring down at the floor. “She’s fine. It’s her mom.”

I stood there, waiting for her to continue, but she didn’t. Jeez, for someone who usually had a lot to say, it was like trying to pull teeth to get information out of her. “You want to elaborate?”

She closed her eyes briefly. “She’s in the hospital. She overdosed on pain medication.”

“What?” My voice rose incredulously. Rhonda had never been someone I pegged as having a drug addiction. As far as I knew, that woman rarely had a sip of alcohol whenever our family had parties where she was invited. “Where is she?”

She walked over to her desk and pulled a yellow sticky note. “County Memorial.”

It was a small hospital about fifty miles away. I knew because my father had actually given a large donation to them and in return had a hospital wing named after him. Luckily, they didn’t know what a true asshole he was, but his money made up for most of his shortcomings. I rushed out of the room and sent a text to my coach telling him I couldn’t make practice this afternoon. Why I felt I needed to go to her? I didn’t know. Yeah, I did. I knew she’d be alone and scared. I jumped in my jeep and took off down the main road.
