“Are you sure?” Anderson needed to believe there was something dark in her past.
“Look, Kyle, about the only thing bad she’s done is to divorce a bum who cheated on her and used her as a punching bag. Now if that thing is going to kill everyone with a bad marriage, there goes half the nation.”
“How did she die?”
“Something called endocarditis.”
“Inflammation of the heart.”
“That’s just it, Kyle. Rosa didn’t have a heart problem.”
“A lot of things can cause endocarditis.”
“That’s what they tell me.” The warden was unconvinced. “What do you think?”
He thought of some troubling things he’d been hearing. “I think the genie may be out of the bottle.”
