  “Please—”

He pressed forward, sending his cock through her. Deeper. Striking something she hadn’t known was there. And still, with those micro thrusts and his thumb drawing gentle circles over her clit. Maddening perfection.

“No,” she whined, and cupped her tits. Pinching beaded nipples. “Nonononono—I can’t.”

A chuff burst from his lips, vibrating the air between them. Setting it on fire. Demanding. “Again.”

This time, she obeyed, clutching at his wrist with her strong hand and a nipple with the other. “Please,” she whispered, sinking flimsy nails into the meat of his palm. “More. Deeper. I need it—oh! Ohmyfuckinggodyesss.”

She came undone, pussy clenching so hard she’d have forced a human man from her depths and deprived herself of the chance to speak in tongues. As it was...

The Felidae chose that moment to seat himself to the hilt, giving her nothing but the tiny rocking thrusts that had gleefully thrown her from the spire—though she had yet to come down.

When at last she was able to draw a full breath, he tipped her head to the side, burying his face in the crook of her neck. Laving her from jaw to collarbone and back. Grunting as he began to work, pinning her damaged arm between them, he hid his face against her throat. Lips pressed to wild, fluttering pulse.

She could do little more than cling to him. Hooking her heels behind his knees, she rocked, keeping pace. Tilting her hips forward each and every time he bottomed out. Needing more. Needing nothing but this. She whispered against his ear, pleading. Commanding.

  Desperate.

“I’m gonna come,” she rasped, burying her fingers in thick, damp hair. “Don’t fucking stop. Oh, that’s—yesss—perfect.”

For a third time, the universe crumbled around her. Grinding to a halt as she milked the Felidae for everything she was worth, babbling nonsense at his ear.

  Her efforts didn’t go unnoticed.

Snarling against her shoulder, he seated himself one final time. Pulsing within her, submitting to the sweet pull and draw of a human pussy begging for its reward. Hips flexing and straining as he came, he sent jet after jet as deep as he could, breathing hard. And then, still twitching, he set his canines to the space between shoulder and neck. Puncturing skin, though she was far too preoccupied to work up a proper attitude about it.

  Chapter Nine

  Heat.

The sort that chased away deep-set aches and soothed psychological traumas, dressing her in strength and protection from the outside in. Heavy arms wrapped under and around her, keeping her pressed against a wall of searing muscle. Condensing the universe and all its chaotic majesty into this single, tiny space in the dark. Where nothing mattered but this moment and the wild, brutal ally she’d bought with her life. Where memories were few, but cherished, in spite of everything.

A puff of breath warmed her cheek, rousing her. With a groan, she pressed back, spine arching into that incredible Felidae heat. Core twitching in sync with the throb of morning wood nudging insistent between her cheeks.

  Not so inhuman, after all.

He inhaled, nose pressed to her nape, chest rumbling against her back. Silent. Lips and teeth scraping a tender spot between shoulder and neck until gooseflesh bloomed on every inch of her skin. Shivering not from the cold, but pure sensation. Thrilled by the casual strength chaining her in place, by the quiet forethought it took to clasp her right wrist in his, stabilizing her injured arm even as his free hand moved south.

When thick, rough fingers found delicate folds soaked and ready, he chuffed, teeth finding purchase on the tender spot he’d marked. That silent rumble given life with each strained breath, until there was no mistaking it.

  “Are you... purring?”

He kissed the spot where his teeth had been, plunging two fingers into her depths. “No.”

“You—Oh—” she gasped, twisting to find the underside of his jaw with kiss-swollen lips. “You totally are.”

Clearing his throat, he caught her nipple with his trapped hand, rolling the tender bud until she moaned against his throat.

“Mmm. That’s very distracting, but—” She flinched, thighs flexing around his fingers when he found her clit. “I like your purr. Sexy as all fuck.”

“Stop talking, you insufferable woman,” he whispered, licking her shoulder with raspy tongue. Pulling slick fingers free from between clenching thighs, he stroked himself at her back. Once, twice, lining himself up. Unconcerned with subtlety this time, he spread her, pressing forward in a single, leisurely thrust until she was filled to the brim with Felidae cock.

“Yess.” She writhed in his arms, lower hipbone grinding through the pitifully thin mattress as she worked him. “Don’t move,” she hissed, pussy gliding over his length, going until she bottomed out, then rocking away. Picking up speed.

He growled, purr returning with thrice the volume. But he obeyed—at least in part. Hips still, cock thrust forward, her Felidae buried his hand between her legs once more, stroking her swollen, desperate little bean as she rode him side by side. Chains clinking as he drove her higher, faster... tighter.

Gasping, she clung to him with fingernails and needy, spasming cunt. Knowing she wouldn’t last—wanting to take him with her. “Come for me,” she said, tilting her head back. Licking the underside of his jaw. “P-Please. Come with me.”

With a snarl, he burst into motion, fucking her over the edge. Teeth finding purchase at her shoulder once more, he pinned her as she spasmed, dragging his release straight from his balls on the heels of a breathy groan.

Hearts pounding in tandem, they lay there in the dark, high on endorphins as he softened inside her. Wordlessly petting sweat-slick skin.

Something soft and fuzzy wrapped the human’s thigh, and she squeaked, pulling away with a wet plop. “Oh. Your tail.” She laughed, rolling gingerly in his arms, leery of her shoulder. “I forgot.”

His tail flicked, curling around the round of her bottom. “Idiot.”

“That’s strange,” she drawled, tracing little patterns on his chest. “The way you pronounce ‘genius’ is so much different—”

The spider beeped, screaming shrill in their quiet dark.

  “What—”

  Light.

  Blinding.

White replacing red as it lit the space between them. Slabs of lean muscle beneath tan skin, layered with stripes and scars.

Shocked, she met his eyes—no longer a sinister, demonic red, but gold splashed with green, his pupils a tiny onyx prick in a striking face framed by thick, black hair. Hair cropped short at the sides, forming what might pass for an unkempt mohawk, complete with striped and spotted scalp.

  “What’s happening?”

He thrust her aside, surging into action with a furious curse, though it was spoken in a language neither she nor the spider knew.

Heart pounding, she clutched her wounded arm to her chest, scrambling to her feet. He’d gone mad. Before she’d completely righted herself, he wrenched the mattress away, flinging it to the other side of the room with a deafening roar. The spider’s light revealing a flash of silver in the dark.

Chains singing, the Felidae seized the scalpel, lips pulled back to reveal wicked fangs.

  “What are you doing?”

“Release me,” he snarled, tail fluffed up with matching black fur, lashing wildly behind him as he stalked toward her. Scalpel brandished between them. “Now.”

Everything clicked into place—her good hand dropping to the cradle between her hips. “Oh. Oh, fuck.”

“Now, human. That door is going to open.”

“You have a promise to keep,” she said, snatching the scalpel with her left hand. Bending over his extended wrist, bracing with her unstable right hand.

“Keep your end of the bargain, and I’ll think about it.”

A terrible sound crackled at the back of her throat, fingers trembling as she worked at the first of the tiny pins. Trying to ignore the screaming in her tender s
houlder. “You promised.”

  “I did no such thing.”

The first pin came free with the rasp of metal on metal, surprising her so much that she nearly slipped. Nearly nicked the tanned skin beneath the cuff. “You’re gonna play it that way, huh?”

“Why not, little genius?” he purred, golden eyes flashing. “You gave me everything I wanted. No cost. No deal.”

She laughed, sending the second pin pinging off into the dark, his come dripping down her thighs. “Fine,” she hissed, teeth bared as she turned his wrist. “Have it your way.”

  “I usually do.”

“Arrogant fucking prick,” she snapped, freeing the third and fourth pins in rapid succession, anger steadying her hand and numbing painful joint. Sharpening her focus.

  “Hurry up.”

She pulled the first manacle off his wrist and let it swing toward his nuts, still attached to the rest of the set.

Faster than her eye could follow, he caught it, grinning.

Voices from the hall silenced the savage insult she’d been about to hurl in his face, and her Felidae stilled, offering his second wrist. Motioning for silence with free index finger.

“Shitshitshit,” she hissed, popping pin after pin in the spider’s white light.

  “Breathe.”

  “Shut the f—”

He chuffed, silencing her with the bizarre sound and a palm over her lips, shaking free of the second manacle. “Panic later, little genius. Just the collar left. That’s it,” he purred, eyes flicking over her shoulder when the security panel beeped. “Good girl. Steady now.”

Letting his voice soothe her, she tugged him down to her level with the collar, taking a deep breath. “Okay. Four left. Nothing to it.”

  Ping.

“Knock knock, princeling!” came the voice of the first of her escorts. The Golem who’d beaten her Felidae bloody only hours prior, hard as that was to believe. “I hear you’ve made Kallp a very happy broodmother.”

“That door is about to open,” the Felidae rasped, tail flicking, gathering the lengths of discarded chain without moving his head or distracting from the delicate work being done next to his airway. “Trust me.”

Without looking away from her task, she nodded, launching another pin into the ether. Two left.

  “Blade up.”

She flipped the scalpel away from his throat, meeting golden eyes for an instant before he wrapped callused hand about her throat. Snuffing that damning light. Claiming the element of surprise.

“Little princeliiiing,” the Golem called, and the door swung wide, flooding the far side of the cell with a dirty yellow light. “Where areeee youuu?”

She found another pin with her fingers, setting the scalpel against it in the dark.

  Ping.

  “Good girl. Last one.”

“Come out, boy. Your stud services are needed elsewhere.”

A deep, rumbling growl rattled the Felidae’s chest, making her jump. “Fuck.”

“Hurry,” he hissed, eyes pinned to the approaching menace.

“Ah,” the Golem breathed, entering the cell, his massive body blocking out most of the remaining light. “There you are. Fucking her one last time, are you? Wait, is that a mating mark I see? You mated her? Ha! Wait ‘till the boys get a load of this.”

  Ping!

  “Done,” she whispered, palms up.

Her warrior snatched the scalpel from her fingers and jerked her behind him, stealing her breath.

“What’s this now?” the Golem asked, frowning. Head tilting to the side. “Wriggled free of your chains, did ya?”

“Where’s your lover?” the Felidae returned, right hand splayed over human belly, hiding her behind broad shoulders, though next to the Golem? There was no comparison.

“Still in the tank, thanks to Kallp’s breeder there.”

She felt her Felidae grin. “Good.” Hurling the chains at their jailer’s head, he struck.

  “Ha! Stupid princeling. You missed—”

A glint of silver embedded itself between the Golem’s eyes, stopping the big moron mid-sentence. Even before he fell, the Felidae was on him, jerking the blade free. Not bothering to wipe it clean.

Right behind him, she stooped, gathering the forgotten icicle. “Just in case,” she breathed, answering his raised brow.

“Keep up. I won’t stop for you.”

She nodded, knowing it to be true.

“Stay behind me. Do exactly as I say. That is the only way you live through this. Understand?”

She swallowed, clutching her frosty weapon and winding her fingers through filthy hair once more. “Let’s do this.”

Before she could blink, he was around the corner, running flat out. Utterly unconcerned with his nudity as he sprinted down the hall, out of sight before she’d even begun.

Grinding her teeth, she followed, for the first time in her altered memory hating the jiggle and bounce of her breasts. Still tender from vigorous attention.

Scowling, she poured everything she had left into her sprint, following the sound of something breaking. Rounding a corner just in time to see her Felidae emerge from a room with a shattered door carrying two overlarge black packs. One already strapped to his back, the other slung over his shoulder.

“Supplies,” he said, frowning, as she slowed before him, gasping.

  “I’m fine. Let’s go.”

Again, he took off, and again he was out of sight before she could say anything more.

But this time she followed the screams.

He left a trail of death and destruction for her to follow. Marking the walls with colorful smears of what she could only assume were bodily fluids. Leaving none breathing in his wake.

A more romantic gesture, there had never been.

And yet, it wasn’t long before the carnage slowed, before she rounded a corner to find herself in a massive hangar bay filled with ships. Thousands of ships. Just in time to watch one streak through a wall of shimmering blue and disappear into the twinkling blackness of space.

And her Felidae nowhere in sight.

“Shit.” Swiping the sweat from her eyes, she clenched the melting ice, hesitating. He was gone. Their deal had been fulfilled, far as he was concerned. Here, in this massive hangar, was everything she needed to survive. Everything she needed to return to Earth and warn them of what was out there lurking.

Dangling on the edge of hysteria, she laughed. Return to Earth? With what coordinates? With what supplies? And then, if that dick-faced toddler-god decided to toss her a single effing bone and miraculously help her get home, she’d what? Tell the human population they weren’t alone? That they didn’t rank higher than a class five on the Intergalactic Scale of Sentience? Or worse, tell them she wasn’t alone? That she carried proof of this ridiculous story in her womb?

“Fuck!” she screamed, punching the nearest ship with her left hand. The icicle shattered—probably a bone or two with it—but she couldn’t be bothered. There was only so much a single human could endure.

  Genius or not.

Utterly spent, she sank to her hands and knees, ignoring the twinge of protest in opposing hand and shoulder. Gasping for breath or bordering on a truly epic mental break, she couldn’t say. Hell, maybe it would be fun to explore the twisty depths of her mind after it shattered. At least then she’d have a place to go when she became Filvtra’s breeding pet. Or next meal.

“Tears? Really? I knew you were a pathetic creature, but this is something else altogether. Completely intolerable.”

She sniffled, laughter fighting with her tears. “Of course, it’d be your voice I hear. Couldn’t be the parents I don’t remember, or the spouse I may or may not have, whom I may or may not have cheated on. No, it had to be you. The guy with the absolute best one-night-stand skills in the entire fucking universe.”

  “You have a mate?”

“Cool it,” she snapped, scrubbing at her tears. “I don’t remember, and I certainly don’t need you to tortur
e myself, Mr. Disembodied. I’m sure there will be a lineup of willing participants in a few minutes. Probably less, if my personal omnipotent infant is in a hurry to watch me suffer until I can’t speak.”

  “Is that a possibility?”

  “Fuck off.”

He laughed, setting totally not disembodied hands around her waist. Scooping her up and tossing her over his shoulder before she could put all the pieces of her psyche back into the correct, color-coded boxes.

She was still trying to pull it together when he boarded an ornate ship, dropped her in a plush, overstuffed chair, and pressed a button to close the boarding ramp. Sealing them in.

“I—” She cleared her throat. “I thought you left. I saw a ship leave.”

Glancing at her as he took the controls, the Felidae shrugged. “Diversion. Hold on.” Whirring to life, the ship rose smoothly from the hangar floor, turned toward the massive wall of blue and launched into the ether beyond so fast she crumpled in her seat. Naked skin nearly becoming one with the stitches in the leather. “Sorry,” he said, flicking a half dozen switches, twisting a bunch of knobs, then moving to help her.

“Now I know I’ve lost it. Did you just apologize? To me?”

He rolled golden eyes, taking the seat across from hers. “I forgot how weak and pathetic your species is, and that any tiny amount of force can literally break pieces off you.”

“That’s better,” she drawled, letting a tentative grin spread across her lips. “So where are we going? And where did you find clothes?”

He returned her grin, eyes skating over her exposed flesh. Licking his lips. “We’re going to a star system called Lennox 5. And,” he purred, tail flicking by booted foot, “I gathered this clothing while I was waiting for you to huff and puff your way up here. You’re in terrible shape.”

“Huh,” she hummed, stretching out in all her bruised, filthy glory. “I don’t recall hearing you complain about this shape last night. Or this morning.”

“I was drunk on the rut. Can’t be held responsible for my actions.”

“Oh, good,” she returned, “then because you find me so repulsive, you also grabbed me some clothing?”

“I’m not a servant. Not my fault if you can’t think ahead.”
