I Have A Super USB Drive

Chen Chen began thinking when he looked at the image on the display.

The T-800 robot was the fourth generation Skynet robot preceded by the T-1, T-400, and T-600. It was also the first infiltration-optimized combat robot mass-produced by Skynet.

The robot possessed extremely tough superalloy exoskeletons. It was the smallest of all T-series robots, standing at only 1.9 meters and weighing below 80 kilograms.

Coated with a layer of "living tissue Infiltration outer sheath" which was a layer of living tissue, it became almost indistinguishably identical to the terminator Governor Arnold played. Using these indistinguishable terminators, Skynet had infiltrated the human base camp for the very first time and massacred them all.

Needless to say, the USB drive could not instantiate the "living tissue Infiltration outer sheath", but there were still many valuable technologies to be obtained from a T-800.

For instance, the fuel cell in the T-800 that allowed it to operate for 120 years, superalloy components, and other parts such as its processors. If Chen Chen could decipher any one of these technologies by way of reverse engineering, it should be greatly beneficial.

On top of that, Chen Chen's decision to use the T-800 instead of the T-850, T-1000, and T-X was a wise decision.

First of all, the T-800 was quite unlike the T-850. It did not contain a hydrogen fuel cell that could trigger a nuclear-like explosion nor did it engage in self-destructive behavior.

Secondly, the T-800 was not as pesky as liquid metal robots like the T-1000 and T-X. Chen Chen believed that if he were to instantiate the latter two terminators into reality, the underground laboratory would probably be in big trouble.

As you may expect, Chen Chen had considered instantiating other robot variations such as the one in Alita before. However, there was still the underlying problem of Alita not being a complete robot as her brain was that of a human still.

Therefore, it was practically impossible to instantiate Alita.

Apart from that, Chen Chen had also considered the movie I, Robot. The movie contained a robot known as NS-5 which was quite unlike the murder machines in Terminator, they were more aptly classified as service-class robots.

Based on the movie setting, the NS-5 was 1.8 meters tall, constructed with a titanium shell, and consisted of 456 moving parts.

The NS-5 could sustain weight up to 360 kilograms and could withstand over a thousand kilograms of impact. It had 1TB of memory and was able to perform more than 6MB calculations per second, capable of conversing in 80 languages…

Chen Chen planned to instantiate the robot from both of these movies. Perhaps he could build a stronger, more intelligent war robot by combining the strengths of the two respective robots.

The problem was there was not much energy remaining in the USB drive.

Chen Chen decided to just shelf the movie I, Robot as a backup.

Just to be safe, Chen Chen did not instantiate it right away but instead lifted his head and instructed, "Little X, order the Black Knights to get their weapons and gather in my lab."

Only several minutes after Chen Chen had issued the order, the cloned soldiers who were training on the training grounds immediately put on their bulletproof vests and headed to Chen Chen's laboratory with their weapons in tow.

Chen Chen took a glance at them and saw the expressionless cloned soldiers identified as Black Knights. They behaved like walking corpses, perhaps because in a sense, that was what they were.

The cloned soldiers did not have a brain as they were uniformly controlled by the God chip. As a result, they wore no expressions on their faces except for a blank look.

Upon noting the arrival of the cloned soldiers, Chen Chen considered for a moment before pointing the experiment recorder at the computer display. He reached for the display with full concentration…

A T-800 weighed 80 kilograms. Since the T-800 Chen Chen was planning to instantiate was missing an arm and a leg with missing scraps in its body, there should not be much issue in the weight aspect.

Chen Chen only wondered, would the size of the computer display affect the instantiation results?

As these questions were flashed across Chen Chen's mind, he felt a metallic surface that was cold to the touch. When Chen Chen pulled with might, a metal skull riddled with scratches appeared outside the display!

After that, Chen Chen pulled with all his strength. A T-800 in an unseemly state was pulled out of the display!

The very moment the T-800 was brought into reality, Chen Chen leaped backward in case it suddenly decided to attack him.

However, nothing happened in the end.

Upon closer inspection of the unmoving terminator robot, Chen Chen noticed that it was already shut down. It did not react to its surroundings nor was there any light in its eye sockets.

When the robots in Terminator operated, the sockets of their eyes would radiate a scarlet beam.

Chen Chen found this observation very enthralling.

In the movie, despite having one of its legs and arms cut off, it continued to struggle and fumble around. Could this mean that in the period which it was instantiated from the movie, the T-800 shut down due to some form of disruption?

Regardless, Chen Chen did not step forward. Instead, he instructed one of the Black Knight members, "Do you see its scalp? There's a slot on the right side of its scalp that can be opened. After you open it, hand me the main control chip inside it."

  "Yes."

It was a Caucasian cloned soldier who had received Chen Chen's orders. Upon receiving his orders, he knelt without the slightest hesitation and opened the robot's scalp, removing a ten centimeters long chip.

"Sir Commander, I've completed my task."

The cloned soldier got up and handed the chip to Chen Chen before returning to its ranks.

  Chen Chen inspected the chip.

It was a rectangular chip that was ten centimeters long and five centimeters wide. Based on the movie, it should possess extremely high remote computing capabilities.

In the movie Terminator: Genesis, this chip was able to handle dimension-spanning calculations. Although it burnt up after doing it, it was still nothing short of amazing.

Chapter 173: Hydrogen Fuel Cell |

Similar to how Chen Chen had decoded the chip from the movie Upgrade, he first created a port for him to plug the T-800 main control chip inside. Before connecting it to the computer, he poured liquid nitrogen as a coolant to cause it to malfunction before being connected with Little X.

As the chip slowly thawed out bit by bit, before it even had a conscience of what was going on, Little X began to devour it in small chunks until its conscience was wiped away completely.

As seen in the movie, Skynet was lurking everywhere. The chip in these terminators could very well be a part of Skynet. This was something Chen Chen could not afford to overlook.

"I've erased the T-800 program from the chip!"

As the chip completely defrosted, Little X's response came as well. "Compared to the STEM chip, the T-800 chip's resistance is a drop in the bucket!"

  "That's normal."

Chen Chen nodded and answered stately, "That's the plot of the movie as well. By enslaving these T-800, the resistance army was able to rewrite the T-800 coding and cause these robots to betray their masters and fight for the humans. As you can see, Skynet isn't particularly adept in the security department."

After unplugging the chip, Chen Chen handed it to a cloned soldier again and had the soldier plug it back into the T-800's scalp.

The moment the chip was plugged in, a red beam appeared in the T-800's eye sockets as it rebooted.

They watched as the T-800 which was missing a leg moved slightly and turned its head around to face Chen Chen with its pair of dark red eyes. At the same time, its metallic teeth moved up and down in a pattern as a bass-heavy voice came out:

  "Conducting systems engine analysis…

"Left-arm engine out of service, right locomotive leg ou
t of service. Damage to the frictionless bearing on the left leg. Damage to the hydraulic shaft on the neck region. Damage to the detachable monitor module. Damage to the inertia impact damper…

"Overall damage calculations, forty percent. Twenty-three percent battery remaining…

  "Self-analysis complete."

After completing its routine, the T-800 fixed its gleaming red eyes on Chen Chen again. "T-800 terminator reporting to Sir Commander."

"Little X, have you found any observations worth noting from this robot?" Chen Chen asked.

"Based on the data in the database, there certainly are some notable clues!"

Little X's prompt response came from the speakers above. "The T-800 uses tantalum alloy armor, commonly found in jet engines, nuclear reactors, and missiles. It's made of a mixture of rhenium, tungsten, molybdenum, zirconium, and hafnium. Of course, the main component is iron.

"The motivation behind using tantalum alloy for the T-800 is because tantalum alloy can effectively resist the erosion of biological fluids. Apart from hydrofluoric acid and hot sulfuric acid, tantalum is resistant to almost all acidic substances."

Little X continued explaining, "On top of that, tantalum alloy is also referred to as high-temperature tantalum alloy. It can resist extreme temperatures up to two thousand degrees. Especially considering that toward the end of the Terminator movie, both parties were using plasma weaponry, therefore it's reasonable to use tantalum alloy armor for its temperature resisting qualities."

  Chen Chen nodded. "What else?"

"There's the inertial impact damper system in its head which serves to protect the chip, similar to the cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the human brain. A more fundamental feature is the servo drive control system on the T-800. Its limbs are controlled by an axial drive motor and a clavicle trailing chain which allows it to run at extraordinary speed!

"Apart from that, there's the application of frictionless bearing throughout the T-800's body. This is a variant of a unique magnetic levitation technique that keeps the joints of the T-800 immune to friction damage over time. As for the interior section of the armor…"

As Little X was explaining, a slot popped out of T-800's chest, revealing two lighter sized metal strips embedded inside it.

They watched as T-800 used its only remaining right arm to extract one of the metal strips. Little X's explanation resumed on the speakers all the while. "The T-800's powering system is supplied by two high-efficiency fuel cells. The fuel the batteries contain is liquid hydrogen!"

"Isn't it the same thing as the T-850?"

Chen Chen was taken by surprise. He still remembered the scene in Terminator 3 when Arnold used a knife to slice through his body and proceeded to throw out a hydrogen battery.

Due to the damage sustained by the hydrogen battery during a previous battle, Arnold ditched the damaged battery by tossing it out the car window.

Subsequently, the battery exploded with the power of a dozen tons of TNT explosion and the range of the shock wave exceeded 100 meters!

In the ending of the movie, the T-850 also stuffed its final hydrogen battery into its mouth, annihilating the two of them together.

This was the reason Chen Chen had wisely kept his distance from the T-850 and went with the slightly inferior T-800.

After all, how was anyone supposed to keep a self-destructive soldier in line?

Yet, Little X again revealed to him that the T-800 also used a hydrogen fuel cell.

"The T-850 uses a hydrogen nuclear battery which is a different thing."

Little X quickly followed up. "The hydrogen fuel cell the T-800 uses is a regular fuel cell and isn't prone to explosions. Hydrogen fuel cells are present in real life as well. They're inherently a form of power generation device. They're quite unlike regular batteries that can be discarded after being exhausted or rechargeable batteries that need to be recharged after being expended. As its name suggests, it's a battery that continues to supply power by adding fuel to it!

"However, the actual application of fuel batteries in real life barely reaches a thermal efficiency rating of 50%. Although it's better than internal combustion engines that operate at 45% efficiency, it's nowhere near perfect yet. The thermal efficiency of the T-800 hydrogen battery can reach 95%."

Chen Chen raised an eyebrow. He was not unaware of the implications of thermal efficiency of up to 95%. If this variant of battery could be mass-produced, it could very well historically revolutionize the energy industry.

"Also, the T-800 has a built-in extractor that can continuously extract the hydrogen in the air to power its hydrogen fuel cell. This is the reason behind the T-800 robot being able to function up to hundreds of years!"

  "I see!"

Chen Chen snapped his fingers and reflected on the revelation. "I never expected so many good things to come out of just one T-800. This does make me look forward to establishing my industrial system."

All this time, Chen Chen had been paving the foundation for his "Mankind Anti-aging Project". Everything he did, he did for the succession of the project.

Now, the "Mankind Anti-aging Project" was beginning to move on track. Chen Chen was also finding more methods to further attain energy at ever-increasing efficiency. Even the construction of the nuclear power plant was a short way away now.

This was to say that Chen Chen had already achieved the goal he had initially charted. It was time to step into the second phase.

Chen Chen's initial goal could be defined as the process of seeking energy supply and establishing his position in the world. In that case, his next goal should be further developed to gradually shift his influence on a global scale, extending his reach over all the corners of the world…

Chen Chen was still a long way away from achieving this step.

  Chapter 174: Self-Invited |

In the early hours of one Sunday, while Samuel was still under the sweet spell of sleep, he was suddenly rudely awoken.

It was accompanied by the pestering voice of a young girl. "Dad, Dad, get up already, Dad!"

A frown came upon Samuel's face. He was about to explode in a fit of rage but halted himself when the words approached his lips. He opened his drowsy eyes and sat up hesitantly. "Annie, let Dad sleep a while longer."

"No. Did you forget, Dad? Today is the opening day of August's concert!"

A girl with a pretty face and several spots of freckles on her face chirped about endlessly like a little lark. "Dad, didn't you promise me last week that you were going to go to August's concert with me?"

  "Yeah, yeah, Dad got it…"

Samuel then sheepishly massaged his head before he put on his socks and shoes.

"Hmm, quickly get up Dad, Aunt Linda already made breakfast!"

Only then did the little girl willingly leave Samuel's bedroom.

  "Sigh…"

Samuel was not sure how to feel when he saw his childlike girl. He always found all of his anger instantly appeased whenever he looked at his daughter's joyous face full of happiness.

The girl's name was Annie, she just turned eighteen years old this year. Who would have ever thought that this energetic girl who had spent her days hopping around like a rabbit was bound to her wheelchair just one year ago, unable to leave the house as she wished?

Back then, the gloom never left Annie's face. She was also incredibly skinny and weak, almost skin and bones. The only thing she liked to do was to lie by the window and watch as people her age walked by.

Whenever she found herself doing that, her eyes were full of envy and desire.

Samuel could not bear to see it anymore. He took the initiative to give up on clinical science which he was passionate about and turned to stem cell research in hopes of finding a cure for his daughter.

However, he had circled around for ten years to no avail, unable to find the ultimate cure.

Until one day, Samuel met a young man called Chen Chen.

Like a devil from the underworld, this man put his daughter's re
covery on the table as a bargaining chip to enlist him into an organization known as "God's Forbidden Zone".

From that moment onward, Samuel's life was entirely rewritten.

Illegal animal experiments, illegal clinical trials, and sometimes even researching human cloning. These were the subjects Samuel had to deal with on a day to day basis.

If the Switzerland government were to catch wind of this, he would probably have to face more than a decade of imprisonment.

However, as long as it meant Annie regaining her ability to stand up on her two feet, how much did all this that he had to endure even matter?

With this in mind, Samuel dressed and pushed open the bedroom door to head down to the first floor. He noticed that the living room television was turned on.

There was a person who sat on the sofa with his back turned toward Samuel. That person was immersed in the cartoon program playing on the television.

From where Samuel stood, he could only see the person's figure from the back. He could tell that it was a man who was relatively young.

  Was it Annie's classmate?

Samuel frowned and paid no mind to that man. He walked past the man from behind to head to the kitchen where he got himself a cup of water.

  "Dad!"

Right then, Annie ran over again from the kitchen and urged him. "Come get breakfast quickly Dad!"

"You're not going to ask your classmate to eat with us?" Samuel asked strangely.

"My classmate?" Annie was slightly taken aback. "What classmate, I didn't invite any classmates today though?"

  "Didn't invite?"

Samuel found this even stranger. He quickly turned toward the direction of the living room and saw the figure still seated on the sofa. The man was even taking several gulps of water from the cup on the coffee table.

It was then when Annie also noticed that man. She wore a confused expression and asked, "Eh, do we have a guest?"

Samuel's expression turned darker when he heard his daughter's remark. It was not his daughter's classmate and it was also far more unlikely that it was the nanny's friend as the nanny would not dare to invite people over.
