I Have A Super USB Drive

Instead of looking down, Chen Chen stretched his arms out like a bird with its wings spread out. At the same time, he made himself take a deep breath, his body began to faintly tremble with excitement.

"Behold, this is the Genesis of my superpowers!"

A faint smirk appeared in the corner of Chen Chen's lips as he tipped himself over the sixty-second floor of the building!

  "Rumm…"

The only thing Chen Chen could hear was the ruthless howling of the wind. His shirt flapped endlessly as they braced the incoming momentum. The strong pull of gravity gave Chen Chen an adrenaline rush but still, he kept his arms outstretched while he stared at the ground slowly pulling closer toward him.

One second, two seconds, three seconds…

Eight seconds, nine seconds, ten seconds…

Something unprecedented happened. Although Chen Chen was falling at a dangerously fast speed, it appeared that the pull of gravity did not speed up his fall. Conversely, he seemed to have rejected the principle of gravitational acceleration and only fell at a constant speed of over ten meters per second.

After fifteen seconds, when Chen Chen touched the ground, his tumbling body landed bizarrely. With the sure and steady claps of his feet touching the ground, Chen Chen landed abruptly —

Somehow, he was able to jump down unscathed from a two hundred meters tall building without any form of equipment assistance!

Fortunately, this happened in the ripe hours of midnight where nobody could witness this reality-defying scene.

Surely, this was the effect of Field.

Under regular circumstances and going by the laws of physics, a person could not lift himself or herself up regardless of the person's strength. This was because the human body was the fulcrum point of the arm.

However, the invisible force, Field, did not require a fulcrum to support itself. With enough strength, Chen Chen could negate the downward momentum using Field. He may even be able to break free of the force of gravity and spread his wings in the air…

It was only after pulling off the ridiculous stunt when Chen Chen made a call to Cheng Cao. Shortly after, Cheng Cao sprinted out of the office building where he immediately spotted Chen Chen standing by the entrance.

  "Boss, you…"

Cheng Cao was bewildered by what he was seeing. He had been waiting on the ground floor for Chen Chen all this time, and yet, he was now seeing Chen Chen seemingly spawn out of thin air outside the building. What could be the explanation behind this?

Chen Chen waved his hands without giving an explanation. "Cao, bring me to the nuclear power plant."

  "… Okay."

Keeping these questions to himself, Cheng Cao quickly went to the parking lot and drove the car over. After Chen Chen entered the car, they went to the nuclear power plant.

The USB drive had accumulated yet another great deal of power in this timeframe. However, Chen Chen had to allocate one half of it to maintain operations in Eco Science City. As a result, the USB drive had considerably lesser accumulated power than it did previously.

This was also part of the reason Chen Chen wanted to prioritize researching nuclear fusion. As Eco Science City continued to grow in scale, the energy that could be allocated for the nuclear fusion power station would also go down proportionally. This was unless Chen Chen decided to halt the development of Eco Science City, which would be an incredibly foolish decision.

Sooner or later, Chen Chen would need more power generation on a grander scale to support the operation of the USB drive.

It did not take long before Chen Chen arrived at the Blacklight nuclear power plant again.

When he entered the substation main control room, he saw the dazzling glow on the USB drive like the stars in the galaxy. Countless densely-arranged spots of light could be seen riddled across its surface.

Chen Chen unplugged the USB drive. Outside the main control room, Chen Chen ordered the Black Knights to assume their formations and set up heavy guard around a designated safe area.

The reason for doing so was because Chen Chen was not going to extract any other common items from the USB. This time, he intended to activate the second form of the USB drive.

This was because in the movie Prometheus, there was this device shaped like a semi-transparent glass cylinder. It was a product pioneered by the Weyland Corporation when they expanded into the luxury goods market.

The full name of the product was "Environmental Holographic Simulator". The device simulated a habitable environment based on the user's preference and state of mind. It could also receive broadcasted holographic signals from all over the world.

It was mainly introduced in the movie character – Theron's room.

However, instantiating this device alone was not going to cut it as it was rather telling that it was just a terminal. Just like the automated medical platform Medpod 3000, hidden parts such as the main terminal must be required to properly utilize it.

This was also the case with the holographic imaging technology as shown in Pokémon Detective Pikachu.

The holographic technology in Pikachu proved to be even more astounding than the one in Prometheus. The way Chen Chen saw it, this technology was capable of muddying the borders between reality and illusion, achieving a brain in a jar effect!

  Chapter 270: Prometheus |

At this current moment, a laptop was placed inside a fully-enclosed isolation room, away from any form of viruses and bacteria.

The laptop contained the two movies which Little X had downloaded ahead of time, waiting for Chen Chen's arrival.

Accompanying him were four Black Knights armed with pulse rifles and suited in the GS Combat Suit.

The GS Combat Suit by itself was already fully enclosed. To ensure they were fully protected upon entering the alternate dimension, Chen Chen had helmets and oxygen tanks designed for them.

The helmets were pure black. Even the masks were an unfiltered black. This was a variant of high-caliber polycarbonate, an extremely assistant material commonly used in bullet-proof glass, airport windows, and even helmets for astronauts.

Additionally, the bottom section of the helmet was designed to connect seamlessly with the GS Combat Suit collar, providing full enclosure.

After being disinfected in the changing room, Chen Chen entered the isolation room wearing the GS Combat Suit and inserted the USB drive.

After that, Chen Chen selected the USB drive and transferred both movies inside it.

At last, the two movies were placed into the USB drive.

"Perfect, looks like the USB drive acknowledges Prometheus."

Chen Chen let out a sigh of relief. Pokémon Detective Pikachu was the very first movie Chen Chen had inserted into the USB drive, so there was no surprise there. Prometheus was about the origin of aliens. Since even Pikachu could be accepted by the USB drive, it was only reasonable to assume that aliens could be acknowledged by the USB drive as well.

After that, instead of opening the passages to the two movies right away, Chen Chen remained idle and lost in thought.

  "Sir Godfather?"

After approximately ten minutes, Little X suddenly asked, "Your heart rate is thirty-percent higher than usual, is there something bothering you?"

"I'm thinking about what sort of spectacle I'll see upon opening the passage to the movie Pokémon Detective Pikachu."

There was a hint of sarcasm in Chen Chen's voice as he spoke, "Will mankind be wiped out by Pokémon, leaving behind nothing but a bloody wasteland? Or perhaps the Pokémon would've disappeared as well, leaving the world in disarray?"

"…" Little X had nothing to add.

"If it weren't for the fact that the holographic imaging devices were not properly presented in the movie, I wouldn't have to go through the trouble of entering the universe to find the holographic technology."

Chen Chen sighed. "This is what bothers me the most. Previously when I first instantiated the NZT-48, I couldn't obtain the immunity shot to counteract the effects of the d
rug. Despite the protagonist finding it at the end of the movie, it wasn't presented on screen. I ended up having to spend several more months taking detours to obtain the immunity shot."

"If it wasn't for that, you wouldn't have created me and we'd never have met, isn't it?"

  Little X remarked.

  "That's true."

Chen Chen seemed surprised and smiled. "There's another thing I'm more concerned about. Since the Prometheus spaceship had crashed inside the movie, where will the passage lead to once I open it?"

  "This…"

Little X hesitated with her answer as well. "The void? Planet LV-223? Or perhaps back to the timeline before the spaceship had exploded? Or perhaps…"

Planet LV-223 was a planet in Prometheus which the "Engineers" race resided in and which the protagonist's group arrived at.

"It'd be perfect if it leads to the timeline before the spaceship exploded."

Chen Chen shook his head. "I have countless methods at my disposal to take control of the spaceship, perhaps I can even bring the scientists into reality and have them work for me…

"Sadly, it's extremely likely for this to be the case."

Arriving at this mention, Chen Chen turned to Pokémon Detective Pikachu with a strange expression. "Still, if I had to rank both these movies by the degree of potential danger, I'd still lean toward Prometheus. After all, the number of both 'Engineers' and aliens are extremely limited, so the threat they may pose to us may not be as significant. In contrast, Pokémon Detective Pikachu may be far more threatening than Alien."

After all, the Pokémons in the movie all had superpowers, some of them even equivalent to weapons of mass destruction. If the Pokémon were to make a joint rebellion effort, humans were no match for them.

With this in mind, Chen Chen ended up placing his cursor on Prometheus. He clicked the movie and skipped to the frame showing Weyland representative Meredith Vickers's room in the spaceship.

From the display, Chen Chen saw devices resembling blue lamp posts in the room. These were the environmental holographic simulators depicted in the movie.

Although these devices were significantly inferior compared to the holographic imaging in Pokémon Detective Pikachu, they were still considered rather advanced technology in the real world.

With this in mind, Chen Chen no longer hesitated and opened the passage.

  "Boom…"

Chen Chen saw the display immediately turning pitch-black as its original 2D perspective turned into 3D. At the same time, an endlessly spiraling small black dot all appeared in the center of the display.

In just a split moment, the black dot rapidly expanded and devoured the entire display to a point where it even spilled out!

"Hm? Why does it feel like the passage is bigger than before?"

Chen Chen raised an eyebrow quizzingly and stepped backward instinctively. The Black Knights behind him stepped forward unprompted and aimed their pulse rifles at the passage.

Fortunately, apart from the passage being a notch larger than in the past, nothing else peculiar like a monster charging out of the passage happened.

"T0421, put on the safety belt and get ready to enter the passage."

  Chen Chen issued the order.

One of the Black Knights immediately strapped the safety belt on his back to an iron railing on the wall behind him before moving into the passage with his weapon in tow.

  "Chi…."

Stepping into the cloud of black mists that even light could not penetrate, the Black Knight completely vanished into the passage established by the USB drive.

At this point, Chen Chen had the Black Knights troop separated into two categories. One group was the earlier Black Knights with the code "A" stamped to their forehead. There were approximately 1,300 of such Black Knights.

These Black Knights were just common cloned humans. Despite having their body honed to perfection under the influence of the chip, they were still a long shot away from the latter T-virus Black Knights.

Chen Chen assigned the "A" labeled Black Knights to various highly-confidential factories or to serve as assistants to the researchers. Meanwhile, the new Black knights were labeled with "T", they were Chen Chen's true combative force.

  Chapter 271: Nuclear War |

The reason for strapping safety belts to the Black Knight was to serve as insurance since the Prometheus Spaceship was destroyed at the end of the movie.

Chen Chen was unsure if there was still anything useful at the coordinate or if the passage led to the room on the spaceship. There was a chance the passage would lead to a void in space or simply to the wreckages of the spaceship.

Contrary to Chen Chen's expectations, the Black Knight had returned from the opposite end of the passage in less than ten minutes.

Unlike previously, the Black Knight labeled T0421 was covered all over in a layer of grayish-brown dust as if he had weathered a sandstorm in the other end of the passage.

The Black Knight also brought back a recording with him.

  "Minor traces of radiation detected!"

Little X immediately alerted, "Sir Godfather, please be careful. The dust particles on T0421 are radioactive dust."

"It's alright, this radiation is only in the range of several X-rays. Besides, I'm wearing the GS Combat Suit."

Chen Chen made a waving gesture. "It's not the void or the planet LV-223 on the other end?"

After a brief exchange, Chen Chen made the Black Knight get disinfected while he took the recording and played it.

Chen Chen was immediately greeted with the sight of a vast landscape.

The video showed broken remains of structures and a depressing amber sky spelling the end times. A ruthless sandstorm whirled on endlessly and the ruins of a city could be seen off in the distance. They were what remained of skyscrapers, the greatest badge of achievement left behind by mankind.

Chen Chen even saw a black tower-shaped building that had partly collapsed. It was the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Chen Chen's pupils shrunk when he saw this.

The passage did not lead to the planet LV-223 nor did it lead to a void in space, it led to Earth…

  "Isn't this scenery quite familiar?"

Chen Chen mused pensively and turned to Little X. "If I'm not mistaken, the footage returned by the Black Knight should be the ending sequence in Alien 4, right?"

  "Yes."

Little X answered, "I looked it up, there are two separate endings to Alien 4. One of them is where the protagonist Ripley and the cyborg Call overlooked the comely natural terrain of the Earth from their spaceship. The other ending is one where they landed the spaceship on Earth and upon walking out, found out that Earth and its cities were devastated with mankind seemingly wiped out.

"What's also worth mentioning is that in the latter ending, a destroyed Eiffel Tower could be seen as well. The footage taken by the Black Knight may display a different angle but it's otherwise completely identical…"

  "I knew it!"

Upon receiving the conclusion, Chen Chen could not help but nod as he smiled bitterly. "USB drive, you're something alright. The movie I selected is Prometheus, but you went ahead and skipped to the timeline in Alien 4. Prometheus should be set in the year 2091 and the timeline of Alien 4 is set in 2381. It skipped nearly three-hundred years ahead…"

"So, it's just as we presumed, all the worlds connected via the USB drive cannot escape their fate of destruction?"

"Should we continue the mission then?"

Little X asked, "Even though Earth is mostly rendered a wasteland, there's still the chance of us finding the holographic imaging technology among the ruins."

Chen Chen immediately fell silent following the remark.

It was then when the test result of the previous Black Knight labeled T0421 was produced. Apart from the layer of radioactive dust on the Black Knight, there were no signs of any abnormal bacteria or viruses in the dust. It may appear that the virus was all killed by radiation.

&n
bsp; "Since it's radioactive dust, then I believe the situation is clear."

Chen Chen went on. "This implies that there was a nuclear war on Earth which destroyed the Earth's habitat, bringing an end to civilization. This explains why there's so much radioactive dust.

"However, more so than the nuclear war, what I'm more concerned with is…"

Chen Chen suddenly altered his tone. "The exact motivation for humans inciting a nuclear war in the Alien universe. Or better yet, could they have started a nuclear war due to an external threat?"

"Are you referring to… A war between mankind and aliens?"

Little X remarked suspiciously, "If the people in the movie Alien 4 knows that Earth has been destroyed by aliens, then there's no explanation behind them stubbornly trying to keep the aliens in space. I believe that the people in the movie had no idea that Earth had been destroyed. It was only until the protagonist returned to Earth when they realized everything that had happened. All of this doesn't make sense at all."

"Your analysis is excellent, but you may have taken the wrong approach."

Chen Chen considered for a moment before continuing. "First of all, the ending of the movie only showed Earth as a barren wasteland, but there was no mention whatsoever of civilization perishing. This means that a nuclear war did break out, but humans were not completely wiped out.

"Second, the true subject matter in the Alien series isn't humans nor aliens. There's another far more secluded factor. With this clue exposed, the cause behind mankind starting a nuclear war becomes apparent."

"You're saying?" Little X sounded uncertain.

  "Cyborg."

Chen Chen nodded. "From Prometheus onward, there was a cyborg called David. If it wasn't for him bringing the black goo on board and secretly feeding Halloway the scientist, the protagonist Elizabeth Shaw wouldn't have got pregnant and given birth to the octopus-like monster.

"From there on, in the sequel Alien: Covenant, David used the black goo to eradicate the 'Engineer' race, even killing the protagonist of the previous film, morphing her into the alien queen. You could say that David was the one behind the formation of the alien.
