The Unforgiven Sin

I spoke in a quiet, barely audible voice.
‘Please, tell me, Michael: Does the Fallen Angel still possess the might given to him in the very beginning? How strong is his innumerable host of demons? Did Satanail escape destruction because you were unable to destroy him? Supposedly, after his expulsion, he underwent a powerful transformation which turned him from a heavenly angel into a ruthless and unconquerable monster with one goal only: to destroy mankind, thus avenging himself for his expulsion! But is this really the case? Isn’t there another side to the story, one which is capable of drastically changing the future of mankind? You’re helping me to find the right way of handling the vial containing the seeds of a future civilization. But why are you helping me? Because The Heavenly Father will not be willing to recreate his disobedient creatures once again, right? The fact is that the molecule that is sealed in the vial could perhaps become our chance for survival! Satanail wouldn’t want to serve a man, who he considers inferior…,’ I went on. My voice became firmer and louder; I wasn’t asking questions anymore, I was denouncing. ‘Time goes on, but our Creator, who first turned his face away from Satanail for his defiance, and then from man for his betrayal, continues to send human beings into the jaws of our very seducer who bears a huge grudge against us. If this is the case, then why did you settle humans next to Satanail? For which purpose? Having sent us to earth, you doomed yourself and all of humankind to eternal war with the Prince of Darkness! To the war waged on the territory where he is the all-powerful master! Why is the host of angels not rushing to help people? Why am I beginning to suspect that there is an invisible game being played between The Light and The Dark Kingdoms where people are nothing more than pawns and victims?’
Michael the Archangel was staring at me without saying a word. I realized that there would be no answers to my questions.
‘I’m trying to understand,’ I explained, ‘why you predestined my life, having sealed my fate in advance. Why am I totally controlled – like a toy in your hands? Tell me - is this the kind of pastime the angels indulge in? People are just another toy for you, and sooner or later you are going to destroy us - the way you destroyed the Arlians – when we become unnecessary or dangerous? In spite of your endless disagreements with Satanail, you have one common goal!’ I said, summing up my point, and suspecting I hit the nail on the head. ‘Where am I going to have the Threads of Light woven into me?’
‘The process will be carried out on one of the planets, which consists totally of the threads of light. After Satanail’s expulsion, the angels who refused to follow him resorted to this powerful protective light source located in the exact center of the Universe because they were afraid he would try to retaliate. The first-ever people had had these threads since the moment of their creation, but later on they lost them. After you have the Threads of Light woven into you, your power structure will change and your ability to anticipate and predict will become keener and more accurate. You are going to get additional means for your personal struggle with the Prince of Darkness. Satanail will pursue his goal of creating a new mankind in his own image; this is why he needs you. If he manages to implement his plans, the new people will destroy everything getting in their way. But the reverse may well happen; just one small particle of divine essence will be enough to shift the balance, and then his newly-formed creatures will start fighting Satanail himself. They may want to become independent and will overthrow the authoritarian Angel...’
The Archangel disappeared. The thunderstorm abated, and all was calm. Satanail stayed in the depths of the earth.
‘Miriam?’ Sam said, opening his eyes with a look of astonishment on his face. ‘How long have you been sitting there looking at me?’
‘About fifteen minutes. I felt lonely, so I came here. I’m sorry I didn’t want to wake you up,’ I answered apologetically.
‘You don’t need to apologize, I’m glad you came to see me. Besides, it’s time for me to get up. You look a little tired – did you have a bad night, or are you worried about something?’ he asked.
‘Filming begins tomorrow, so I’m jittery. Jessie called me and asked how I was. I do hope nobody but Jack knows about the incident. Besides, I don’t want people to know I am staying with you.'
‘You can count on Jack, he won’t let the secret out. Just think about it – he doesn’t need any media attention about what’s happened,’ said Samuel firmly.
‘I’m very sorry things took such a turn, Sam. I’ve always brought bad luck with me wherever I go, and sometimes it seems to me that people should stay away from me.’
‘I don’t want to be apart from you, Miriam. Don’t blame yourself for everything bad that happens in the world. You are not responsible for what happens to people; there can be the most incredible situations and coincidences in our lives! You’re not the first and you won’t be the last who has things happen to them that they can’t explain. There are hundreds of thousands of people who think the same thing! Let’s forget about it,’ Sam said, reassuringly. ‘I don’t see any reason to hide our relationship, we are adults after all, and we’re entitled to live as we wish. Otherwise everything’s going to look childish.’
‘Maybe you’re right,’ I said, and kissed him.
‘Things do happen, so it’s silly to take everything too seriously. It just happened – and now it’s a thing of the past. For now, the main thing for me is that we are both happy.’
‘Samuel, you are really the one I’ve been waiting for all these years. But you have to understand that my love and my affection can jeopardize people; loving you is as hard for me as living on this Earth is.’ I leaned over him and kissed him on the lips. ‘What do you say to our making love again?’ I said, with a languid air, laying my hand upon his erect penis.
‘If we don’t try, we’ll never know the answer to this touchy subject. And I’m really interested in finding out,’ said Sam slowly – and pulled me into his bed.
We clung to each other greedily with our lips and forgot all about what was going on around us. The door to the new and still unexplored world – the world of love, passion and sex - opened for me again. The thought alone of Sam’s beautiful body belonging at that moment only to me was wildly exciting. Now I was thinking only about myself, and how I was going to get the maximum pleasure out of our encounter. Sitting on top of Samuel, I was swaying slightly from side to side, taking in all of the sensations I was feeling. Sam was quietly moaning with pleasure, and after a moment, I shut myself off from the outside world completely, and the depths of ecstasy engulfed me.
Having had enough of flying about the house, my little angel landed in front of us and started watching our copulation. There was something strange in his look, it seemed sarcastic and at the same time predatory, but I wasn’t spooked by his presence.
The next morning, a new woman woke up in me. I turned out to have a passionate nature, and sex became part and parcel of my existence. The more we made love, the more I was hungry for it. Sam was a skilled lover, and each time we were intimate, he brought me increasing pleasure; we matched each other perfectly in every way.
I still couldn’t bring myself to go public with our relationship. No one but Jack knew about it, and I secretly got a great kick out of this double life we were leading.
‘Hi, Miriam, you look great!’ Jessie said, taking a seat near me. Sitting by the table were a make-up artist, a stylist, Grace (Bryan’s wife in the film) and an assistant director. ‘You’ve changed so much!’
‘I hope for the better,’ I said, smiling.
‘You and Sam are going to have an interview scheduled for the end of the week. Where is he, by the way? I haven’t seen him yet today,’ enquired Jessica.
‘He’s somewhere in the studio,’ echoed Grace, a good-looking brunette of about thirty. ‘If I see Sam, I’ll tell him you were looking for him.’
‘Sure, Grace, thanks a lot,’ said Jessie gratefully.
‘It has been a long time since Samuel was out in public with
a woman, not even at parties. What has happened to him, I wonder? Could it be that he has started a new affair?’ Grace kept harping on.
‘You go and ask him, Grace. Or ask his agent – he may share this information with you for a hefty fee,’ echoed Diego. ‘You women are always poking your noses into somebody else’s business, you can’t live without gossiping!’
‘Don’t exaggerate, Diego. It’s a harmless question. You don’t have to be so sarcastic,’ retorted Grace, pursing her lips.
‘Incidentally, Miriam, nobody knows anything about your personal life, either. This is not the way it should be,’ said Diego, in mock indignation.
‘I’m not going to make my personal life public for everyone to see,’ I said, seriously.
‘If you are against people snooping into your private life, you’ve chosen the wrong occupation. Being an actress is not for you, then. You are going to become very famous, aren’t you? It means you have to be ready for every move you make to be watched by thousands of eyes and hundreds of cameras,’ Diego said, in a didactic voice. One could never tell whether he was joking or being serious.
‘What’s all the fuss about?’ asked Sam, coming up to us; his charming smile made everybody go silent for a moment.
‘We’re talking about women’s curiosity,’ Jessie answered. ‘…And about your long hiatus from our parties. How come you don’t party anymore?’
‘I’m busy,’ said Sam tersely, leaving immediately, clearly unwilling to fuel such trivial conversations.
Cameras started to buzz. The filming of another episode had started. I felt jealousy burning from within because Samuel had to play a love scene with his on-set wife, Grace. He embraced her, he kissed her, and he swore she was his one and only love, claiming that other women simply didn’t exist for him. He was playing his role perfectly, almost too realistically. Sometimes when we were together, it seemed like Sam was just automatically saying he loved me without meaning it, as if playing another role in a movie.
Samuel behaved as if nothing had happened. In public we would talk, as we did before, about work-related subjects, matter-of-factly. But when evening came, everything would change. Once all alone, we would make love, ardently. Seizing every opportunity while we could, I tried to delight in my long-desired man as frequently as possible!
‘Samuel, your love has become the substitute for my loved ones. I don’t even know what I would do without you.’ ‘I said, entering his study. He was fumbling through his papers, trying to find something. ‘We need to make our relationship public, there’s no sense in us hiding it anymore,’ I said, casting off my doubts.
‘That’s great, Miriam! I’m so glad you’ve managed to overcome your unfounded fears. We shouldn’t have been hiding our relationship all this time! I’m a free man,’ he said with ironic pompousness, ‘and I don’t have to answer to anybody! America is a free country, and our personal lives are nobody else’s business. We are adults and we can decide for ourselves which parts of our personal lives we want to share.’
‘I feel so good by your side, Samuel!’ I said, hugging him and putting my head on his shoulder.
‘You know, Miriam, being apart from you is in no way part of my plan. I want to give you all of my love; I want you to be mine and mine alone.’
Our lips merged, Sam scooped me up and sat me on the table; he tore my panties off and pulled my legs apart. We started making passionate love, and once again I was moaning in an all-engulfing state of euphoria.
Chapter 28
Innumerable flocks of bats, cawing crows, and giant black eagles rallied in the Prince of Darkness’s kingdom. They shredded the air with the deafening noise of their flapping wings and then merged into darkness – only the flickering of their yellow eyes gave away their presence.
Satanail, sitting motionlessly on a magnificent throne carved out of black stone, squinted at his servants. He was waiting for the most opportune moment to get closer to the woman who belonged to him. Despite his recent fiasco, Satanail wasn’t unnerved: he always managed to get what he needed. He knew that sooner or later he would get his hands on the priceless vial. It was just a matter of time. And he was very good at waiting. He only had one more step to take before his dreams would become reality; true, the Archangel got very angry because of the breach of their pact, and now he would be chomping at the bit to frustrate his adversary’s efforts. But the Archangel always got in his way, and Satanail had been used to the hurdles Michael would put up in an effort to stop him. He didn’t even want to waste his time thinking about such an insignificant factor. But still, there was Miriam… Satanail did all he could to get her out of his mind, but his efforts were in vain; he kept on looking back on everything that was keeping them together, and at everything that had happened between them. How could he possibly forget the moment he had managed to possess the woman who gave birth to his first-born son? The son who was born with the essence of Satanail; the beloved son whom had been pardoned by The Heavenly Father.
‘I’ve become her first lover again! She’ll always belong only to me! She must side with me, but in order to achieve this, I’ll have to work really hard,’ he said, turning to the demon, Asmidyl, who was standing nearby, and whose appearance could scare the wits out of even the bravest of souls.
‘My Lord,’ said Asmidyl subserviently, ‘Miriam is just a human being, and she, like the rest of the humans, has her own weaknesses. I’ve got an idea,’ he continued.
‘Your ideas can wait, Asmidyl. I have no time for them now,’ said Satanail, waving him off. ‘The Archangel is here again, he’s set to frustrate all of my plans. Why didn’t he protect her from The Heavenly Father when He was expelling humans from Eden? He won’t be able to give Miriam more than I’ve already given her during the time she’s been on Earth. This woman has been tormenting me since the moment she set foot on Earth… She’s keeping me enslaved in her web without being aware of it. I’ll have to think hard to find a way of getting her involved on my side… She’s forever trying to unearth what has been hidden from humans. Her mind is set on solving these mysteries! The first time, she succumbed to me because of her curiosity, but now I will let her touch the invisible. Let her find the answers… It will only play into my hands. I must get what rightly belongs to me!’ Satanail smiled.
‘The Archangel is going to interfere into the course of events trying to change their direction, and we’ll have to turn his efforts against him.'
‘It makes sense,’ Satanail admitted.
‘Times, they are a ‘changing, My Lord, and this means we have to be more cunning and make even more of an effort than before,’ said Asmidyl, baring his gapped teeth in a semblance of a smile.
‘Satanail,’ interjected a beautiful woman who was standing some distance away, ‘the strong sensual essence you put into Miriam will help us reach our goal… She’s going to take advantage of all the traits you imbued her with at the moment of her birth.’ The woman hesitated somewhat and looked at the ruby ring on her finger, as if seeking its support and guidance, and added after a small pause, ‘I wish you would pay as much attention to me.’
‘Tilda, don’t be so jealous, I’m always by your side. The first-ever woman has always been between the two kingdoms, between the two forces. She’s backed by the Archangel himself, and there’s the entire angelic army which is under his command, and this army is supported by The Heavenly Father.’ Satanail was being very serious. ‘Miriam comes to Earth – through her incarnation – only once every several hundred years. I only have her few earthly years at my disposal to get what I want from her, because she’s going to disappear again soon. This is the last time The Foremother will come to Earth, so if I fail to obtain my offspring from her, all my hopes will vanish in the haze! There would have been no complications if I had just taken what I needed and slipped away, unnoticed. Michael, betrayed and furious, can become very dangerous!’ concluded the Prince of Darkness.
‘You will surely obtain the offspring you are dreaming of so pass
ionately!’ Tilda said with a mysterious smile. – The “new people” you’re going to create will be as powerful as the heavenly creatures. It’s only then that we will become truly invincible! Careful though, for there’s a chance that your army may rebel against you,’ warned Tilda self-righteously, in a cold and authoritative tone of voice.
Even demons of The Dark Kingdom were slightly afraid of Tilda; her sharp mind and cold heart emboldened her to speak with The Lord of Darkness on equal terms.
‘Hopefully, this is not going to happen,’ she added.
Satanail listened to her very attentively. “I know how to implement this plan,” he thought to himself, and said aloud, ‘Admittedly, women are the smartest of all creatures. Their prudence and common sense are unparalleled. Especially yours, Tilda!’
She cast a contented look on the Prince of Darkness.
‘The Archangel gave her his intellect, which, coupled with the cunningness she inherited from me, may help her surpass even us! We cannot guarantee that she will not try to play her tricks on us!’ said Satanail, with a twisted smile. ‘We have to make Miriam’s body more vulnerable to sexual desire, and this is going to become our powerful tool!’ the Prince of Darkness said, and waved everybody away.
‘My hunt is just beginning,’ he said quietly, after he was alone.
Satanail took up his pet. This was a big and beautiful black cat, called Sat, who had glistening fur and big sparkling eyes. Sat made himself comfortable in Satanail’s lap and purred contentedly as his master stroked him tenderly.
‘My faithful Sat,’ Satanail said, patting his cat on the back.
‘Oh, My Lord,’ quietly said the cat, who was capable of transforming himself into any animal and even assuming a human appearance, ‘your small devoted creature is always ready to help its master. You are right in putting your trust in no one. Your wife Tilda is clever and authoritative, but her jealousy could become an obstacle along the way because women can be unpredictable. My innumerable host of mammals is always ready to fulfill any of your wishes.’
