"I'm not being cranky you're just annoying." I told him. He nipped my ear at my answer.

"Because I asked if you needed help?" He asked.

"Maybe." I told him, realizing I actually was just being cranky.

"I have another question." He suddenly sounded nervous.

"What?" I asked him. He moved me around to face him, so that I was now straddling him. I blushed at the new position we were in.

"What do you say, about being my girlfriend?" He asked, looking me in the eyes. I held my breath. Oh my god did he just ask me to be his girlfriend? I mean sure we kissed here and there, but now he wanted to make it official. My mate wanted me to be his girlfriend! Unlike Blake he wasn't rejecting me but accepting me. All these thoughts raced through my head as Dylan waited for an answer. In my heart I already knew the answer.

"Finally decided to make me yours huh?" I told him cockily. He smirked at me.

"You've been mine from the beginning." He said, crashing his lips to mine.

"Ashley are you home?" I heard my mom’s voice from downstairs, making her way up the steps. I quickly got off Dylan's lap and tried to make myself as presentable as possible. I was not expecting her to come home. I thought about hiding Dylan in my closet but realized she'd just sniff him out.

"Guess it's time to meet the parents huh." He took his hands through his hair, not worrying at all. Was I the only one stressed about this situation? How am I going to explain having a boy in my room, in my bed?

My room door was pushed open, my mom paused as she took in the scene. "Who's this?"

"Uh mom this is Dylan." I introduced them.

"Her mate." Why did he have to open his mouth?

My mother narrowed her eyes. "What is going on Ashley?"

I sighed, guess I need to catch her up. "I had two mates, but Blake rejected me after something happened at school and Dylan just asked me to be his girlfriend." I blushed on the girlfriend part.

"I never liked that boy anyways, nice to meet you Dylan." She reached out her hand. I can't believe she was taking this so well.

"Nice to meet you too ma'am." Since when did he get so formal?

"Oh, just call me Mary. You're part of the family now no need for formalities," She waved him off. "Well I'm going to go get dinner started, keep this door open young lady. I'm too young to have grandchildren." She laughed walking out my room.

  Chapter 12

It's been three days since Dylan and I made it official. I've been extremely happy these last few days, even Lizzy noticed. She cornered me after school one day and made me tell her why, which I did. She squealed for ten minutes straight. We got out of school early today and decided we'd go and surprise Dylan by picking him up. "Do you even know how to get to his school?" I asked as she was driving. I didn’t even know she had a car, I never see her use it.

"There's only one other school in town." She turned on her left blinker.

"How do we know it's his? Maybe this isn't a good idea." I'm so used to Dylan picking me up I don't know how he'd feel about it being the other way around. Technically I'll still have to ride with him anyways since I have no car.

"Relax Ashley he's your boyfriend now, and if I know Dylan he's going to love seeing you either way." She pulled into a school lot. I instantly spotted Dylan's blue Range Rover, standing out from the other cars. He was actually here. I didn't know if he truly ever went to school after dropping me off because he was always late.

Lizzy pulled up next to some red car, she turned the car off and got out. I quickly got out following behind her. "Where are you going? I thought we were going to wait!" I hissed as I followed her to the front doors.

"Change of plans." She said casually. To my surprise we walked in without a problem, no one stopped us.

"Do you even know where you’re going? We shouldn't be in here." I smelt him before I saw him. He was walking down the hall with two other guys, they seemed to be in deep conversation. I blushed as I stumbled. Why does he have to be so hot? And to think he's all mine. Dylan looked up with confusion on his face and I realized he must've smelt me too. He grinned when his eyes landed on me, before jogging towards us.

"What are you doing here?" He asked, pulling me into a hug.

"Lizzy wanted to come!" I answered, a little too quickly. Lizzy rolled her eyes at my outburst.

"Oh, so you didn't want to see me?" He pulled away looking down at me. I never noticed how tall he was, or I was just short.

I blushed. "Yes, I did." I wanted to kiss him, but there were way too many people around us. I wasn't a huge fan of PDA.

"Hey Dylan, who is this?" One of his friends asked. I looked around Dylan to see Ryan and some other boy standing there.

  "Hey Ashley." Ryan waved.

  "Hi."

"This is my mate Ashley." Dylan told the guy. The guy looked at me in shock, then held his hand out to me.

"I'm Zach." He said to me. Before I could respond Dylan turned me back around to face him.

"What are you doing here?" He asked again.

"I thought I'd surprise you." I smiled at him.

"Well this is the best surprise I've gotten in a while." He admitted. I blushed under his intense gaze. "We were about to ditch anyways and go to my house. You guys want to come?" He asked. He was just going to ditch school? I wonder if he did that often.

"Yeah we're not doing anything." I looked over at Lizzy to confirm she was ok with that, she nodded.

We all started making our way to the double doors, and once again no one stopped us. The security here was bad. Once we made it outside I started heading towards Dylan car.

"You guys mind riding with Lizzy? If she doesn't mind of course." Dylan said.

"I don't mind." Zach said, both guys started walking away, with Ryan mumbling something about bros before hoes. I laughed as Dylan rolled his eyes. I jumped in the passenger seat buckling up. Dylan slide in a few seconds later and started the car up, I frowned.

"Put your seatbelt on." I ordered him. He raised an eyebrow at me with an amused look on his face.

"Ok mom." He told me jokingly.

"Did you have fun at school today?" I asked him. I really did sound like his mother.

"Are you really asking me about school?" Dylan laughed at me. I rolled my eyes.

"Just making conversation." I told him.

"What are you wearing to prom?" He asked me.

"I have no idea." I told him truthfully.

  "Get something red." He advised.

"Why?" I looked over at him.

"Because I'm taking you to prom and that's what I'll be wearing." He shrugged. I felt my heart melt. He wanted to take me? I mean I know we're dating but.

"What about your own prom?" I asked him.

"Anywhere you are is my prom." I blushed at his words.

"O-oh." He smirked at me. "You didn't ask me though." I stated.

"It automatically comes with the boyfriend package." I rolled my eyes.

  "Says who?"

"Says me and nobody can change that."

"Well I'm not going with you unless you ask." I told him smugly. He looked over at me. "Eyes on the road!"

He chuckled. "Ok I'll ask." I waited for him to continue.

"Well?" I probed after a few seconds.

"I never said when." He smirked.

"You mean I have to wait?" I frowned, I didn't like waiting, I wasn't very patient.

"Yup." He said popping the ‘p’. I growled crossing my arms over my chest.

Today was the day, that day being prom. I was actually nervous about going. Lizzy had taken me to get a red dress the day before, I still didn't understand why Dylan wanted to wear red. It was a knee length dress that flared out at the bottom and had a belt around the middle. It was very cute, I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. I decided to pair it with plain silver heels. Dylan also asked me to be his date that day too. I smiled at the memory, he made it a big deal and embarrassed me in front of half the school.

Flashback

I was waiting outside for Dylan to come pick me up, it has become a normal routine for us. Lizzy was sitting next to me going over the plans of us shopping later. I tuned her out after she said we'd be going to more than five stores. I really didn't want to be at the mall all day. I couldn't stop thinking about the fact that Dylan still hadn't asked me out. Maybe he changed his mind and didn't want to go? Or maybe he was having second thoughts about dating me? I was too busy having a mini panic attack in my head that I hadn't notice Lizzy was trying to get my attention.

  "What?" I asked her.

"There's your lover boy." She pointed at something behind me. I looked to where she was pointing, and my eyes widened in shock. There coming down the school lot was Dylan, on a pure white horse. Cars were blowing at him as he slowly made his way to me. I looked up at him, seeing a huge smirk on his face. Suddenly the horse picked up speed and within seconds he was in front of me.

"Ashley, the fairest lady in the land! Would you do this poor old servant a favor and accompany me to prom?" He said in this weird Shakespeare voice, holding his hand out to me. I felt my face heat up as people around me started staring, waiting for me to answer. I felt one stare in particular, I looked over to see Blake glaring at Dylan and I with hatred in his eyes. I looked back at Dylan as he waited for my answer, as if he didn't already know it.

"Oh Romeo!" I started off dramatically, "What would father think? I mustn't run off on this beast with you into the sunset, for I am not the fairest in the land. I believe I have lied to you." I finished, placing the back of my hand against my forehead.

Dylan looked at me in confusion as I tried not to laugh. "Juliet?" He asked stupidly. I couldn't hold it in anymore and burst out laughing, Dylan glared. Once I finally stopped laughing I reached out and grabbed his hand. He easily lifted me onto the horse, placing me in front of him. I looked down waving bye to Lizzy as Dylan commanded the horse to start moving.

"You know you kind of messed up my proposal back there." Dylan said as we made our way out the school parking lot. I had no idea where we were possibly going on a horse, but I was hoping it was McDonald's since I was hungry.

"I'm sorry?" I said giggling a little bit. "Where did you even get this horse? I hope you aren't planning to take me to prom on this."

"Duh I'm not, I only rented this horse for three hours, I have to take it back soon." He told me seriously, before cracking a smile.

  Flashback over

We rode the horse around for two hours and even went through McDonalds drive thru, imagine the look on their faces when they saw a horse come up to the window.

It was now 5:00 and prom started at 8:00, I had nothing but free time. I thought about calling Dylan over but decided against it, I'll just watch movies until Lizzy come to get ready.

I walked down to my living room picking out two movies, then went to the kitchen to make popcorn. Jake and Ben were in there when I walked in.

"Hey guys." I greeted them. I wasn't too kin on talking to Ben knowing he also knew about me being adopted. I hadn't had the time to talk to my mom because of everything else that's been going on.

"Hey, shouldn't you be getting ready?" Jake asked me.

  "Ready for what?"

"Prom, doesn't it usually take you girls hours to get ready." He raised an eyebrow at me.

"I don't think I need three hours to shower and put on simple make-up." I rolled my eyes. Jake and I are back on speaking terms, I've forgiven him about not telling me.

"I just texted my date and she said she was getting ready." He said shrugging.

"Most be some bimbo then." I grabbed my finished popcorn making my way out of the kitchen.

  ***

"Ouch! Stop poking me in the eye!" I complained. I was currently sitting at my vanity mirror as Lizzy did my make-up, which felt more like torture.

"I wouldn't poke you in the eye if you'd stop moving!" She groaned in frustration. She came over two hours ago, I thought that was still too early to get ready, but she didn't. I caught Jake giving me a smug smirk when I let her in.

"I'd stop moving if you'd stop poking me!" I argued back.

"Is that all you two do is fight?" Amanda asked from my bathroom. I also invited her cause I knew they were having prom at their school, I thought she'd enjoy some girl time. We've gotten closer since I started dating Dylan, whenever I went over to his house we'd all watch a movie together or play games.

  "We're not fighting." I protested.

"Ugh there finally done!" Lizzy exclaimed. I shot up from the chair before she could change her mind.

"The torture is finally over!" I cried, falling to my knees and lifting my arms up to the sky.

Amanda laughed. "I swear you're perfect for my brother, both super dramatic." I grinned at her as I stood up.

"Speaking of your brother being dramatic... do you know how he asked me to prom?" I asked her. She shook her head no and I told her the story. Her eyes were wide before she started laughing.

"That seems like something he would do." She chuckled.

"You also didn't get to witness the very disturbing reply that Ashley gave him." Lizzy said smirking, I glared at her.

"No reason to dwell on the pass," I made a shooing motion with my hands.

"Right, I need to curl your hair now." Amanda walked towards me with the curling iron.

Two burns and 30 cuss words later she was finally done. I got up going to check out the final product in my bathroom mirror. It was big enough to show my body but stopped at the ankles. I looked way better than I thought I would. My make-up was done perfectly, and my hair looked as if a professional done it. "I love you guys so much!" I said to them, still staring at my reflection.

"We know you do." Lizzy replied. I rolled my eyes. I walked out the bathroom to see they were also ready.

Lizzy was wearing a black sparkly floor length dress that made her blonde hair stand out even more. It was flat ironed and stopped at her chest. Amanda's outfit was the complete opposite. She was wearing a tight blue dress that stopped at her knees and had an open back with a front that tied around her neck.

"You guys look hot!" I told them. They grinned at me. I opened my mouth to say something when I heard the doorbell ring. "Oh my god he's here, I need to get down there before Jake opens the door." I told them ,walking out of my room.

"No! You have to make an entrance. Let him open the door so Dylan can wait to see you." Amanda told me. Make an entrance? And she calls me the dramatic one. I waited as I heard Jake open the door and invite Dylan in.

"Do I go now?" I asked. She grinned at me.

  "Yes, let's go."

Lust. The first thing I felt when I saw Dylan. He stood at the end of the steps talking to Jake. He hadn't notice us yet, so I had enough time to check him out. I can now see why he picked the color red, he looked sexy in it. All I could think about was jumping his bones.

"Dylan's going to be having that same reaction in a minute." Amanda whispered in my ear giggling. I glared at her as my cheeks heated up. We started descending down the stairs and that's when Dylan finally looked up. I sucked in a breath as our eyes locked. His matched mine perfectly from earlier and I couldn't help but smirk slightly. Who knew Amanda would be right?

He held eye contact with me the whole way down. When I reached the bottom he wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me to him. I felt the tingles spread everywhere he touched.

"You look very...edible." He told me breathless, looking me up and down from head to toe. I swear I could physically feel everywhere his eyes touched.

"You don't look too bad yourself." I told him.

"I always look good, though this is a first you've dressed up to hang with me." He smirked. I couldn't disagree, usually when he came over or I went to his house I'd wear sweatpants knowing he wouldn't care.

I grinned up at him. "There's a first time for everything." I winked. His eyes darkened.

"Will you two love birds hurry up?" Lizzy demanded.

&nb
sp; "Lizzy! They were having a moment!" Amanda complained. I rolled my eyes at them. Dylan grabbed my arm pulling it to him, sliding a white corsage onto my wrist.

"Where did that come from?" I asked him.

He smirked at me. "I have my secrets." He grabbed my hand pulling me out the front door. I squealed in delight when I saw the limo out front. I didn't know he was renting a limo!

"Oh my gosh! I've never rode in one before!" I told him. I turned throwing my arms around him in a hug, before sprinting towards the limo. Not caring that I was wearing heels. I could hear Dylan laughing behind me. I slide into the limo gaping at the inside. There was a mini bar on the left with a bottle of whisky on it. The seats were soft, and I felt I could sit on them forever.

I frowned in confusion when Lizzy, Jake, and Amanda all slide in seconds later.

"They've decided they want to ride in the limo also, and that we'd be picking up their dates." Dylan told me, sitting next to me. I rolled my eyes, of course they did.

  ***

I clenched my fist glaring at the girl across from me as she shot flirtatious looks at Dylan. Jake’s date was a first-class slut! Some blonde bimbo that went to our school whose name I didn't care to learn. She was the first one we picked up, and I've thought about pushing her out the limo more than once already.

Dylan shifted, throwing an arm around my shoulders. "Jealous are we?" He leaned down to whisper in my ear.

A low growl left my lips, making the girl eyes snap to me. I glared at her. "Not even." I told Dylan calmly.
