“If it wasn’t for you, Dr. Devlyn, I wouldn’t have a chance at motherhood again. I love you.”
Quinn stepped back and held out the box. “I know I couldn’t afford one before, being in med school and all.”
Charlotte took the box and opened it. The sparkle of a diamond took her breath away. “Oh, my God.”
“It’s a diamond from a mine up here. I was assured of that. I wanted you to have a stone that came from the land you love.”
“Quinn, it’s beautiful.”
He took her hand and slipped the ring on her finger. “Marry me, right away. Tomorrow even. We’ve waited long enough and I can’t wait even a second longer. I don’t want to waste any more time.”
Charlotte wrapped her arms around him. “Yes, I’ll marry you as soon as possible. I’ve waited a long time for this moment.”
Quinn grinned and slipped his hand into her hair, dragging her into another toe-curling kiss.
“Shall we go visit Mentlana and Genen and bask in their happiness?” he asked breathlessly a few moments later.
“I’d like that.”
They kissed one more time and walked out of the on-call suite hand in hand, with the future ahead of them.
There was no place in their world for obstinate people. Charlotte knew beyond a shadow of a doubt she’d always fight for Quinn, their family and the love they’d been given again.
Always.
