“Oh David that’s wonderful!” she cried, kissing him full on the mouth.

He held her as she would have pulled away and kissed her back, opening his mouth over hers. “I can’t take much more of this,” he whispered huskily.

“Maybe we should avoid doing it,” she said huskily, touching her tongue to his mouth. He groaned and captured her tongue with his teeth, pulling on it. The shock reverberated through her body and she moaned feverishly. He pulled her underneath him and his mouth moved over hers hungrily. Abby dug her fingers in his hair and gave in to the pleasure flooding her body. He shifted slightly and his hand pulled down her T-shirt and reached for her breast. The nipple was hard and his finger glazed over it. Abby arched her back in shock as the sensation raced through her.

  “David,” she murmured feverishly.

“Abby,” he said tightly, his head going down and taking the nipple inside his mouth.

She cried out and grabbed his hair as his mouth moved, pulling her nipple inside. She was half out of her mind with what was happening inside her body. He gave the other breast the same treatment and Abby almost abandoned her resolve to wait until the wedding night; almost.

“David,” she gasped. “You have to stop, please.”

With a tortured groan he released her breast and sat up abruptly. “You are right,” he said his breathing erratic. “We can’t keep doing this. I am going to take a room at the hotel until we get married or else I am not going to be responsible for my action.” He stood up, dragging his hands through his hair.

“It's okay baby,” he said with a strained smile. “It will be worth the wait.”

  Chapter 7

They started arriving Friday morning. David had used his private jet to cart everyone to the island including her mother and had rented enough cars to transport everyone. Abby was at the church when they came and Pastor David and Missionary hurried out to hug her and expressed how happy they were that she was going to officially be a part of their family.

Her smile faltered as she looked over their shoulders to see her mother. She was with David and the rest of the people from their church back home. Her mother was still beautiful but misery had settled on her face and she looked older than her years. She was dressed in a nice pants suit and her long hair was caught in a jeweled clip. She looked out of place.

David brought her over. “Darling your mother said she enjoyed the plane ride and I told her that we will have to take her on several more.” Abby looked at him gratefully. Bless his soul; he was trying to make the best of an uncomfortable situation.

“Abigail you look well,” Elaine Walters said grudgingly as her daughter hugged her hesitantly. “And what a wonderful man you are marrying!” her expression changed as she turned to look at David. “Imagine flying us here in his private jet!”

“Yes he is,” Abby agreed glancing at David with slight amusement.

“Baby why don’t you allow me to show your mother some of the work we are doing here and go and get Mom and Dad up to speed about the children’s home.” David suggested taking Elaine’s arm.

“Thanks David,” Abby went over and kissed him full on the lips, not caring who was looking. “I love you so much.”

“You don’t play fair,” he whispered against her mouth.

“I know,” she whispered back wriggling out of his arms and going over to his parents who were looking on with a proud expression on their faces.

“My dear you have made us very happy.” Missionary Ellen linked arms with her as they went inside the church.

The members greeted them enthusiastically and they were offered refreshments. Deacon Williams captured Pastor David and led him around the building, getting him acquainted with the things that were done. The ladies were outside around the wooden table where there was a mountain of ground produce that had been brought by for the wedding. They had shooed away Abby telling her that her help was not needed and as she was getting married tomorrow she surely needed her rest.

The wedding planner Mabel had been busily decorating the conference room at the hotel and was coming over later to decorate the church.

David took them to the children’s home and Pastor David met and spoke with Mrs. Hill promising her that they would not be forgotten when they left.

It was quite late when they piled into the cars that David had rented and went back to the hotel. David had booked a room there for the night so Abby was going to be at the house by herself. Sister Edith was getting dressed at the house so she would be by early the next morning so that Mabel could help her with make-up.

It was almost eight o’clock and David had stayed back to spend a little time with her. “I can’t bear to leave,” he complained. They were sitting outside on a hammock he had put up. The night was cool and there was a slight breeze and the dark blue sky was dotted with stars twinkling down on them.

“I don’t want you to leave,” Abby told him, snuggling into his arms. She had been told to go to bed early but she was glad David had come back after seeing that her mother and his parents were settled in as well as the rest of the guests. “Thanks for treating my mother so well.”

“She is going to be my mother too baby so no thanks necessary.” He murmured.

She could hear the steady beating of his heart against her ear and she felt as if she could tell him anything. “If I had known you weren’t some spoiled rich kid I would have chased you when you came to your dad’s office.” She teased.

“No you wouldn’t,” he told her wryly. “You don’t chase and maybe that was what attracted me to you and what frustrated me as well.”

She laughed and burrowed her head deeper on his chest.

They laid there silent for a moment, contented to just be with each other, not wanting to be apart. Her hand which had been toying with his white T-shirt drifted down and touched his pubic area. With a startled groan he captured her hand. “Baby what are you doing?”

“I want to see it,” she whispered. “Please.”

With a ragged sigh, he guided her hand inside his soft cotton sweat pants. Abby’s heart thundered inside her chest as she felt his rising erection. She had never been this close to a man before and it felt huge. She released it from the underwear and her hand moved over him hesitantly, fascinated by vibrant heat and the flesh swelling in her hand. She touched the tip which was a little wet and rubbed her finger against it. David was in agony and he had to grit his teeth to maintain control. “Abby,” he whispered hoarsely. “You have to stop.”

“I don’t want to,” she told him, looking at him, her eyes golden with desire.

He pulled her over him and captured her lips in a kissed that reeked of desperation and hunger. Abby’s grip tightened on him as she returned his kiss with a fervor that was almost his undoing. She wanted him so bad that she was almost begging him to take her. His mouth ground against hers until he was tasting blood and with a shudder he pushed her away gently, easing out of the hammock so as not to upend her. He turned his back to her and pull up his pants; his hands shaking badly.

He turned around to look at her. She was still laying there, her hair loose and fanned out on the hammock, her eyes slumberous and her shirt crushed. She looked like an advertisement for raw sex and he wanted to bury himself inside her and never come back out.

“I have to leave now,” he told her hoarsely. “And I can’t touch you again because if I do I am going to take you right here.”

“I understand,” she told him softly as she got off the hammock, careful not to touch him. Her body was vibrating and she was sure that if she touched him she was going to throw away her beliefs and tell him to make love to her.

He left her at the door and stayed in the car while he made sure she had locked up properly. He had asked her to let someone stay the night with her but she had told him that if it was not him then she preferred to be by herself. He wanted to stay out there and make sure she was all right but his parents were expecting him back and they had very strong views
on a man and a woman sleeping together before marriage. With a sigh he drove away and with a rueful laugh he realized that he was still fully erect and he would have to do his best to make it go away before he faced his parents.

Abby slept in his room that night; preferring to surround herself with his scent and his things that were strewed around the room. She automatically picked up a T-shirt he had left lying on the chair and sat on the bed inhaling his scent. With a sudden decision she took off her clothes and pull on the T-shirt. With the scent of him in her nostrils she finally drifted off to sleep.

She woke very early the next morning and with a smile she jumped out of bed. “It’s my wedding day,” she sang as she dashed into the kitchen to put on a pot of coffee. A glance at the clock told her it was a quarter past six. Her wedding was at ten o’clock and she was eager to get started and too eager to eat. Her phone rang just as she was about to get her second cup of coffee. It was her mother and Abby stood there staring at her phone foolishly. Please God don’t let her say something to ruin my wedding day; she prayed.

“Hi mother,” she said with forced brightness.

“Abigail I hope you got some good rest; big day today,” her voice was stilted.

“Yes mother I did,” she said dutifully.

“I never done right by you,” she said gruffly, clearing her throat. She paused as if she expected Abby to say something but when she did not respond she continued. “I allowed myself to become bitter and angry and I took it out on you. Your father was a good man and I was too proud and haughty to know that and I pushed both of you away. I am sorry Abigail.”

Abby was shocked. Her mother had never spoken to her like that before and she was speechless.

“I spoke to dear Pastor David and his wife last night and they gave me some good encouragement and Abby I am ready to turn my life around if you will forgive me.” She continued as if she had not noticed that Abby had remained silent.

“That’s wonderful mother,” Abby said cautiously, wondering how she could ever thank these wonderful people whom God had put into her life.

“I want you to know how happy I am for you Abigail; he’s a fine young man.” She said.

  “Thanks mother,” Abby said softly.

“I’ll see you later my dear,” Ellen said softly before hanging up.

Abby held the phone in her hand as if in a trance and was just about to call David when there was a knock on the door. It was Mabel and Sister Edith and they hustled her inside the bedroom and she totally forgot everything in the rush of getting ready.

It was nine thirty and Mabel was putting the finishing touches on her make-up when there was a knock on the door. She looked up to see a man framed in the doorway; his lined face wreathed in a big smile.

Sister Edith was in the next bedroom getting ready and Abby was already in her dress and her hair done up with the tiara ready to be placed on top. Her heavy curls had been tamed and brushed vigorously and twisted in a complicated bun on top of her head and secured with pins. The diamond earrings were sparkling at her lobes.

“Dad?” she said uncertainly as she saw him in the mirror. She had not seen him in so long that she was almost uncertain.

“Abbs,” he came inside the room and nodded to Mable who made a discreet exit. “You are even more beautiful than your mother was on her wedding day and I didn’t know that was possible.”

He was the only one who called her ‘Abbs’ and Abby felt the familiar yearning inside her as she stood up and faced him.

“Dad how did you get here?” she asked him confused as he took her hands in his.

“Your fiancé tracked me down and flew me here. He wanted me to be the one to walk you up the aisle. May I have that honor?” he asked her gently.

“David found you?” she asked him foolishly.

“Yes my dear. Quite a man you have there; he sees to your needs as a man should. I have not done that Abbs and I am so ashamed, I was thinking of myself and not thinking of you and I owe you one heck of an apology.” He told her sadly.

“Of course Dad,” she told him going in for a hug. “Did David tell you that Mom is also here?”

“I spoke to your mother and we cleared the air,” he told her. She looked at him in surprise. “Honey I got here last night.”

Just then Mabel came back inside. “It’s time mademoiselle,” she said firmly pointedly looking at Abby’s father.

“Okay honey, I’ll get out of your hair, wouldn’t want you to be late for your wedding. I’ll be right outside.” He turned and left the room.

Mabel fussed a little more with her and finally she was ready. A stretched limousine was waiting for her outside to take them to the short journey to the church. Sister Edith handed her the bouquet of baby’s breath and tulips. Her father held her hand all the way to the church where he helped her out of the car and held onto her. The church yard was packed with vehicles and from a glimpse inside the church; Abby noticed that the church was packed to capacity and the decorations were breathtaking. Mabel had gone inside to let them know that the bride was present and the organist started playing a haunted melody as Sister Edith marched behind Moira who looked very pretty in her pale pink dress. Then it was time and the music changed to the wedding march.

She slowly walked in on her father’s arm and she knew that the church was full and all eyes were on her but she had eyes only for the man she loved. He was dressed in an expensive pearl gray suit and his dark hair was brushed back from his face, his blue eyes boring into hers. He met her partway and shook her father’s hand before placing her hand in his and walking with her the rest of the way.

Pastor David was standing there in his ceremonial robe and Deacon Williams beside him. “This is a very emotional day for me,” he began, addressing the congregation. “My son is getting married to a woman my wife and I consider our daughter. I am a very happy man this morning and I want to thank God for his foresight in allowing this to happen. My son warned me before we left the hotel that it was supposed to be a very short ceremony because he was anxious to be on his honeymoon.” He waited until the laughter had died down and continued. “Is there anyone here that knows of anything that would hinder these two from getting married please speak now or forever hold your peace.” He waited a spell then said. “I could hear the sigh of relief coming from my son just now.” He joked. “A marriage between a man and a woman is supposed to be a beautiful thing and it is expected to last a lifetime. Unfortunately in some cases it doesn’t. These two are before us to proclaim their love for each other by commitment and I am glad I am a part of this wonderful experience. They have expressed their wish to say their own vows so at this time we will let them.”

David turned to face her. “Abby, I waited for you my entire life but I didn’t know it and it took you almost three years to notice me noticing you. I love you. It’s that simple; everything I achieved in my life pale in comparison to what I feel for you and I promise to love you, cherish you and place your needs above mine at all times and I want to give you the world. There is no me anymore, it’s us and will always be us.”

Abby stared at him wordlessly. She was lost for words. “David I was afraid to love and you showed me how. I have never stopped loving you and wanting you and wanting to be with you. I love you David so much so that I don’t know where I end and you begin. I am not afraid to submit to you and I promise to honor you and obey you and be the wife you deserve. I love you so much that I can’t express how much exactly but you are my love, my heart and my body belongs to you. Only you.”

They stood there looking at each other while the congregation remained silent.

“There you have it friends and family, I could not have put it better myself.” Pastor David softly. “The rings please,” he said to the best man.

“David Michael Wade do you take Abigail Sara Walters to be your lawfully wedded wife to have and to hold from this day forward until death do you part?”

  “I do,” he said
clearly.

“Abigail Sara Walters do you take David Michael Wade to be your lawfully wedded husband in sickness and in health, to honor and obey until death do you part?”

  “I do,” Abigail said.

David placed the ring on her finger and she did the same to him.

“Now by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.”

David took her gently into his arms and kissed her lips. Abby closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around his neck.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I present Mr. and Mrs. David Wade. Please stand.”

They walked down the aisle to smiles of encouragement and signs of tears from several people. They went into the vestry to sign the wedding certificate while the people went ahead to the hotel where the reception was being held.

“My wife,” David said softly as soon as they were inside the limousine on their way to the reception.

“My husband,” Abby said snuggling into his arms. There was a bottle of champagne in a bucket cooling but it was ignored as they concentrated on each other. “You found my father,” she said in wonder.

“I wanted him to be there for you. I wanted this day to be everything you ever dreamed of.” He told her. “Is it?”

“More than,” she told him huskily. “I love you David Wade.”

They arrived at the hotel and went straight to the conference room which was decorated with exquisite flowers and balloons. There were blue and white streamers all around and someone came and escorted them to the head table. As they sat down Pastor David stood up and prayed his blessings on the ceremony. “Father in Heaven you honor marriages and you made a man to be with a woman and I am asking for your blessings on these your children and continue to be their guide throughout their lives. Amen.”

The food was served. A sumptuous array of baked chicken, curried crab and fish fillet. There was also lobster cooked down in cream sauce and vegetables and potato salad. Abby could not eat much because she had butterflies in her tummy and wanted just to be with David.
