  Dreadnought, (General): A tremendously sized warship. Only three have ever been completed.

  Drop-Shot, (Measurement): A standard form of Concordat Weight measurement. See Concordat Weight Measurement Conversion Table.

  Dus, (Measurement): A standard form of Concordat Volume measurement. See Concordat Volume Measurement Conversion Table

  Eastern Stream, the, (Geography): A river that flowed from the Evergreen towards the Sea of Aecor.

  Ecclesiast, (Profession): The Ecclesiast class was constituted of three orders of seniority; the Acolytes, Elders and Prelates.

  Ecclesiasticum, (General): One of the Four Focal Towers that rise above Sanctum.

  Eir Order, (Profession): Women, also known as shield maidens, that made their way through the battlefields to tend to the wounded. The Eir traditionally wore blood-red dresses, to hide any remnants of blood on their clothing.

  Elder, (Profession): Second rank in the Ecclesiast Power. Once an Acolyte became an Elder, they had to choose a degree, or vocation to undertake. Acolytes were encouraged to study the various degrees, so that they could readily decide when they finished their probation as an Acolyte, as to which degree was aligned with their own abilities.

  Elysian Concordat, (Politics): A mutually beneficial Concordat between Sanctuary, Aspiration, Hopeton, the Northern Brokerage and the March Confederacy.

  Elysian Plains, (Geography): The large, mainly flat expanse of green grass, scattered townships and remote villages mainly focused around agrarian communities.

  Elysia, (General): The Lux-light filled realms of Aurania. Elysia is a bountiful land, filled with a large spectrum of life forms, all displaying benignity. No clawed or fanged beast is native to the realm of Elysia.

  Emanators, (General): An Aetheric shield generator. Four Emanators spin atop the Focal Towers, blocking aerial access to Sanctuary.

  Enclave of Excelators, (General): The headquarters of the Excelators based within the Magistratum. Historically, the Enclave of Excelators was said to have been in one of the five peaks of the Lakefields.

  End of Times, (Apocrypha): A period, when the first sign of the End has appeared and the Twins of Destiny are bound to meet.

  Engulfing Forest, (Geography): A hot and moist broad-leafed jungle.

  Enneagon, (General): A Nine-sided metallic pendant with a nine-sided hollow. The inner nine sides represent the Nine Virtues while the outer Nine represent the Nine Iniquities.

  Enneagonian Mentalometry, (General): A form of mental analysis used within Sanctuary, to determine where an individual should strive to subdue their negatives, and where they should exploit their positives.

  Envoy of Karajan, (Politics): A Captain of a Hold, voted by his peers to represent Karajan.

  Eon of the Mark, (Apocrypha): The period subsequent to one of the Twins of Destiny slaying the other.

  Epitome, (General): The manifested embodiments of the Five Tears of Concordia - the Ustrina, the Naga, the Makara, the Atrox and the Animus.

  Equalitarians, (Politics): A group of men and women advocating that the three-way Caste system is in contravention of the Structuram Civilitatis and believe it is a fabrication of the Ecclesiasticum to garner more power and control.

  Era of Lies, (History): The Cycles prior to the Structuram Civilitatis

  Era of Purity, (History): The Cycles subsequent to the completion of the shield and the beginning of the 2nd Schism. Is marked by the moment the last Stately Gate was sealed.

  Era of Truth, (History): The Cycles subsequent to the completion of the Structuram Civilitatis and the beginning of the 1st Schism

  Europa, (General): A planetary system in the stellar system of Singularum.

  Evergreen, (General): A mysterious tree-like structure that grows far to the north, deep in the bowels of the Great Forest.

  Evergreen Glade, (Geography): A quiet pool surrounding the Evergreen, with many different forms of flowering plant in the water and on the land. Many great rivers begin from these waters.

  Evergreen Grotto, (Geography): A expansive cave structure beneath the Evergreen

  Evergreen Moss, (Plant): A unique moss that grows in the permanent shadow of the Evergreen.

  Evocatus, (Profession): A long serving Militus who rejected either exhalation to the ranks of the Praetorians or retirement, were given the honorary title of Evocatus. Evocatus were ranked from Major, to Colonel.

  Example, the, (General): The name of the execution reserved for Heretics, used within Sanctuary. The condemned are tied to the stone pillars that rise above the Curtain gates of each district, and covered in pitch. The condemned have their tongues ripped from their heads and are burned in a crucible for all to see.

  Excelator, (Profession): Men and women whose martial prowess and survival skills allow them to survive outside city walls during Tenebrae.

  Existentia, (Apocrypha): See Singularum.

  F-Block, (Measurement): A standard form of Concordat volume measure. An F-Block is a cube with the same volume as a Fist. Weirman Hanseff of the Toolsmith Order, created the F-block to standardise and measure Scull-Blocks used for storing goods. Scull-Blocks were rectangular and Fists were spherical, Weirman devised the F-Block by designing a Cube that would displace the same amount of liquid as the spherical Fist measurement.

  Fabre, the, (Profession): Beautifiers of Sanctuary, working with fabric, metals and gems.

  Faun, (Animal): Faun is the generic term given to the family of creatures, of the same name. All are quadrupeds, feature two horns on the side of its head, solid footed and herbivorous.

  Faun, Dray, (Animal): The Dray Faun is a well-known and utilised Faun - renowned for its endurance, placidity and carting capabilities.

  Faun, Forest, (Animal): The smallest of the Faun. Roam and forage amongst the Great Forest.

  Faun, Great, (Animal): See Steppe Faun.

  Faun, Steppe, (Animal): The largest of the Faun. Almost as wide as it is long. Its average weight is 2.5 Axle-Loads, with its mighty horns weighing half an Axle-Load alone. Considered by some as one of the Immanis. A pivotal creature in the sustenance of the Savarians.

  Faun, Velox, (Animal): The Velox Faun is renowned for its speed and tenacity. A hardy, boisterous species that when well disciplined, prove well as battle steeds.

  Favour-Weavers, (Hexen): A Hexen who is believed to have capability to change the course of an individual’s fortune, at a price and a consequence.

  Fieldstrap, (Plant): A tree native to the foothills of the Southern Steppe Jagged Ranges. Having high grip and adhesion, its bark is used as boot soles and wheel trimming.

  Fight Dice, (General): A popular game of dice - requiring skill, strategy and chance. Traditionally played on the bottom of Bogmarsh Ale barrels. Mostly, it is played on a crudely drawn field of six concentric rings, and is a favourite of sea-farers, tavern-dwellers and travelling traders. Outlawed within the walls of Sanctuary as a game of chance.

  Fist, (Measurement): A standard form of Concordat volume measurement, roughly the same size of an adult male’s fist. The prototype and standard is modelled on the dimensions of a medium-bore Concordat Cannonade Shell. See Concordat Volume Measurement Conversion Table.

  Five Pervading Realms of Descent, (Apocrypha): See Five Tears of Concordia.

  Five Tears of Concordia, (Apocrypha): As Concordia watches the eternal struggle between her siblings - she shed five tears, each tear denser than the other. Conceptia, Ignis, Aer, Aquaticus and Materia. Each tear is said the be source of its related element.

  Fleshreed, (Plant): A durable and elasticised reed.

  Flour-Stalk, (Plant): A staple crop that grows close to 2 spans high. Each stalk yields between 15-25 heads of highly compacted starch and fibre encased in thick leaves. A staple crop grown in the districts.

  Flying Waters, (Geography): A massive waterfall, dropping from the river at Pinespeak to the ocean below - carving a canyon.

  Focal Power, (General): One of the four pillars of the Structure of Civilisation as noted
by Lumerus - the Worker (Operarius), the Governor (Magistratus), the Protector (Praelitorius) and the Guide (Ecclesiastus).

  Focal Tower, (General): One of four towers that rise from the Sanctum. Each Focal Tower is the administrative seat of their namesakes Focal Power.

  Footfall, (Measurement): A standard form of Concordat Length measurement. A Footfall is the time between steps of a Centurion at marching pace. See Concordat Length Measurement Conversion Table.

  Forecourt, (General): The tiled area that surrounds the Sanctum and ends at the Sanctum Fosse.

  Forefront, the, (General): The main hall of the Praetorium.

  Fosse Bridge, (General): One of Twenty-four bridges that cross the Sanctum Fosse leading to the vast open and intricately tiled open courtyard that surrounds Sanctum.

  Free Army of the Plain, the, (Politics): The army of Karajan.

  Freeborn, (General): A child born of the Districts.

  Frothmar Vine, (Plant): A vine that grows within the canopies of the Great Forest, known for the Adrenaseed that it yields.

  Frystia, (Geography): A frozen, frost bitten region of Shayde.

  Frystian Mead, (Commodity): An alcoholic beverage made from fermented Buzau Honey, spiced with barks and roots from the foothills of the Jagged Ranges.

  Fulcrum Island, (Geography): A large island in the Hydraen Ocean.

  Fury Drums, (General): A collection of various sized drums used by the Attaran War Ensemble.

  Gatekeeper, the, (Apocrypha): A powerful being said to rule the division between the realms of men, and the realms of the deities; Said to be the Victorious Twin of the previous Grand Cycle.

  Gelus River, (Geography): The largest river on Aurania, located in the Frystian realm of Shayde. The freezing and unfreezing of the Gelus is known to be the cause of the changes in the tides of the Hydraen.

  Glimmer Fish, (Animal): A small, translucent, finger-sized fish that inhabit the southern stream, with some finding their way into the Sanctum Fosse.

  Glory Choir, (General): The chanting soldiers of the Attaran Armies.

  Governance District, (General): One of the five sectors of a District. Comprised of the Governor’s Residence, the District Court, the Tithe House, the Temple of Labour and the Crematorium.

  Governor, (Profession): The Governors are the elected officials for each of the twenty-four Operarius districts. Each Cycle, an election is called in each of the districts to determine a Governor for the ensuing cycle.

  Grace, (General): A weapon of a Reckoner. A lightweight, slightly curved blade. Slightly heavier at the tip of the blade than other blades and counterbalanced at the hilt. Used during the Dance of Blades.

  Grand Cycle, (Measurement): 999 Cycles.

  Grand Library and Archive, (General): A storehouse of knowledge situated in the Ecclesiasticum.

  Grand Vestibule, (General): The main hall of the Ecclesiasticum.

  Green Maple, (Plant): A white trunked tree, with bright green leaves. Grows predominantly on the edges of the Great Forest, where the light is greatest.

  Gunnish, (General): The people of the Lands of Gun.

  Halls of Righteousness, (General): The halls in which the offices and dwellings of the Tribunal Magisters are located.

  Harpy Bird, (Animal): A shrieking bird native to the Great Forest. The feathers of its neck and face give the bird the appearance of having a human-like face.

  Harshlander, (General): Common insult directed at those who dwell beyond the realms of the Concordat.

  Harshlands, (Geography): All lands outside of the protection of the Concordat.

  Heresy, (General): Any act that blasphemes against the Way of Lumerus.

  Eiralan Order, (Profession): A member of the Ayldar Order whose Eir was slain. The Eiralan, though not disgraced or dishonoured, were no longer allowed to treat the wounded or guard another Eir, but must dutifully serve the Cherishe in administrative duties.

  Hero-Horns, (General): Brass and bone trumpets and horns, used in the War Ensemble.

  Hexen, (Hexen): Those men and women who draw on unworldly powers to do their bidding - for noble or indignant means.

  Hexen Vial, (Hexen): Small glass vials, filled with blood. Usually used by Hexen'Layt. Hexen Vials are filled with blood via a Transfusion Kit, for portable and less painful means of Letting.

  Hexenjaeger, (Hexen): Those men and women who hunt rogue Hexen, particularly Hexen'Darq. Often are Hexen themselves.

  Hierophants, (Profession): The keepers and disseminators of the heretical Old Ways, responsible for the dispensation of the heretical mysteries, for the dissemination of the verbal commentaries and for ensuring that the heretical teachings were only taught to those who were capable of receiving and safeguarding them.

  High Inquisitor, (Profession): A senior ranking member of the Inquisition.

  High Inquisitor Praereptor, (Profession): The highest-ranking Inquisitor.

  High Prelate, (Profession): Then highest-ranking Prelate.

  Hold, (General): A vessel in the Ship-City of Karajan. Each Hold has its own philosophy as well as its own code of morals and ethics.

  Hopeton, (Geography): Hopetown, predominantly known as Hopeton, is a township centred around agriculture, viticulture and animal husbandry.

  Hopeton Blend, (Commodity): A blend of various herbs from the surrounds of Hopeton. Its sweet smoke is revered by many a smoker.

  Howling Archipelago, (Geography): A series of islands that rise sharply from the Aecorian waters.

  Hydraen Pine, (Plant): Hydraen pines were tall and mighty trees, with the largest of the Hydraen pines recorded at almost two-hundred spans tall at the canopy and twenty breadths in diameter at the trunk.

  Hydraen Ocean, (Geography): A vast, deep ocean that stretches across Shayde and Elysia. The Twilight Strait provides access between the two realms.

  Idoloclasm, the, (History): A period of defacement within Sanctuary, where all representations of the Unending Eighteen were defaced.

  Idoloclast, (History): The predecessors of the Inquisitors. After the 1st Schism, the Idoloclasts were tasked with seeking out and destroying any representation of the unending Eighteen to eradicate any trace of the old ways.

  Ignis, (Apocrypha): One of the Five Tears of Concordia. Not only represents the State of Flame, but also representative of the Fire Realm, the source of all heat and fire throughout Existentia.

  Illumin, (Measurement): See the Light Steps.

  Immanis, (General): The tremendously size creatures that once roamed the lands of Aurania, their monstrous bones still litter the land. Very few species of Immanis remain.

  Immunes, (Profession): A Militia soldier who after proving themselves for five Cycles as capable and disciplined soldiers, could serve in the cavalry branch or could be recruited into the Authoritor Legion.

  Imperator, (Profession): The prelate elected by his peers to oversee the Ecclesiasticum and its welfare. The role of the Imperator was more administrative and ceremonial than functional. As the Imperator was considered infallible of misinterpreting the Way of Lumerus, his interpretation was paramount.

  Implementer, (General): A pocket tool used by the Engineers of the Khyramic Order.

  Inductor, Aetheric, (Aetherics): A convertor used to increase the attraction of Aether towards the Induction unit.

  Industrial Sector, (General): One of the five sectors of a District, where the factories and workshops are located that produce all of Sanctuary's metals, cloths and furniture.

  Inferior One, the, (Apocrypha): The Twin of Destiny that is slain by the hand of the Victor.

  Inferior, the, (General): Those who are not capable of undertaking the Consecrated Labour. Banished from Sanctuary.

  Inner Torus, (General): The inner ring of the Sky-Ring, which surrounds the Lightmark.

  Inquisition, (General): Comprised of a team of Inquisitors of varying experience from the senior orders, which would then investigate the heretic issue, and perform the necessary tasks to remove the heresy by its root.

/>   Inquisitor, (Profession): A vocational decree and order of an Ecclesiast Elder. The role of the Inquisitor was primarily focused on the prevention, detection and elimination of heresy and other things contrary to the Way of Lumerus. An inquisitor could act on their own assumptions, making them a very influential and powerful position.

  Inquisitor General, (Profession): The head of an Inquisition.

  Inquisitorial Edict, (General): A unequivocal and undeniable accusation of Heresy. Guilty verdict by-proxy of Imperatorial Infallibility.

  Jagged Pass, the, (Geography): A well-known, and well monitored pass that leads across and through the Jagged Ranges.

  Jagged Ranges, (Geography): A harsh and unforgiving range of mountains that circumscribes Aurania, splitting Elysia and Shayde.

  Justblade, the, (General): The sword-of-office wielded by the Prime Prefect.

  Karajan, (Geography): A free-city state in the heart of the Lakefields. A melting pot of race and culture.

  Kayin, (Apocrypha): The middle of the Three Tenders of the 1st Garden. Killed Abbel and ate a seed of Life. Nine sores erupted from his flesh, from which the Malignus erupted.

  Kazier, (Profession): An impartial judicator, who ensured that civil order was maintained throughout Sanctuary.

  Knights of the Strict Observance, (General): Heavily armoured, valiant and battle-ready soldiers of the priest and priestesses of the Strict Observance.

  Knownborn, (General): The caste of those who know and were raised by their biological parents; only occur within Sanctum.

  Labourial Cleric, (Profession): A vocational decree and order of an Ecclesiast Elder. The Clerics of Labour ensured that all work and trade that was undertaken in the Operarium, was dedicated to Sanctuary and was in concordance with the Decree.

  Lakefields, (Geography): A large region of sweet-water lakes, nestled in between the Five-Peaks mountain ranges. The lakes are fed from the snow that forms atop the Five Peaks during Tenebrae.

  Landsbeach, (Geography): A township next to the Bay of Sarnak. Well known for the Astrawhale Boarding yards next to the city.

  Landsbeach Defence Force, (General): A forward defence force of Concordat troops stationed at Landsbeach.
