  I realized it was the floor. Whatever spell he’d been using to hold us in place wasn’t working anymore, and feeling the cold stone of the tower floor pressing against my body where an impossible heat had raged just moments ago brought me back to reality more than anything else.

  Rath stood in all his glory and stared. Only he wasn’t staring at me now. No, he was staring directly at Theos with an unreadable expression.

  And in that moment I realized the peril that confronted us. I thought back to Theos panicking and trying to roust Rath out of the tower. I thought about the magic refusing to heed his call. I realized that we were very much at Rath’s mercy in more ways than I could imagine.

  Only rather than terrifying me that thought just turned me on even more. It just made those delightful aftershocks from being taken so completely and so thoroughly start up once more.

  “I could end this now, you know,” Rath said.

  “I know, but you’re not going to,” Theos replied.

  I marveled that he was able to sound so calm and collected considering he was very much at his worst enemy’s mercy. Rath continued regarding my husband-to-be for a moment longer before that unreadable expression turned to a wide smile first for Theos and then for me.

  “Of course not,” he said. “It wouldn’t be much of a wedding present if I killed you right after giving it to you.”

  He turned and fixed me with that smile one last time. A smile that sent a tingle running through me. A tingle that was very quickly followed by another wave of heat as I thought of everything we’d just done.

  Then he was gone, vanished in a puff of sparkling blue light that disappeared on a nonexistent wind. I blinked. I didn’t even know he could do that in this tower. Then again I suppose the enchantments did think he was the one who was in control of the tower so maybe that was why.

  “Restrain Ainya,” Theos said.

  I looked up at him in a panic as the magics protecting the tower came back with a vengeance and wrapped around my wrists and ankles in much the same way that Theos had been restrained at the beginning of this forbidden dalliance.

  Was he angry with me? Did he decide that he didn’t like going through with this fantasy now that it had actually happened? It appeared that he was in control of the palace again, at least the magic thought so and it was usually more right than the humans living in the palace, and that meant that his authority was supreme. He could do whatever he wanted to me and there wasn’t anything I could do about it.

  Theos grinned. “Release her.”

  The bonds left and I scowled up at him even as relief washed over me. He leaned down to give me a kiss. A kiss that quickly turned to much more as our tongues dueled and he took the opportunity to explore my body, his hands running over my breasts before they started making their way down until one of his fingers was pressing up inside my pussy exploring the mixture of my arousal and Rath’s seed down there.

  He pulled up and fixed me with an apologetic smile. “Sorry. Had to think of some way to check if I was back in control.”

  “Right. Well now that you’re back in control, your royal genius majesty, perhaps you can explain to me how we’re going to get my dress back in order before we go out for the ceremony?”

  Theos grinned. “The magic in this tower is supposed to obey me and do whatever I want. Tailoring isn’t exactly what it’s designed for, but I’m sure we could work something out.”

  I still felt so hot. I felt an impossible fire burning inside me. I needed a repeat of what had just happened with Rath, but I wasn’t going to give into that desire here and now with Theos.

  No, if I was going to be with him then I wanted it to be as husband and wife. The idea of being with Theos after we said our vows to one another made it seem more special despite everything that had just happened with Rath.

  And that meant that I desperately wanted to get to that ceremony so we could get to the business of finally consummating.

  Besides, being married would also have one other advantage. Sure Rath said that it didn’t matter whether or not I was married. What really mattered was that he was stepping into the middle of a committed relationship. I was inclined to agree with him, the hot transgression was another man taking me from Theos.

  But that didn’t mean I wasn’t looking forward to seeing if Rath might be willing to try for a repeat performance once I was officially a married woman!
