The blue crackle of her power lit up her face and she unleashed pure hatred, electrocuting every single guard who stood in her way.
Everything was a magnificent blue jolting show of bloodshed and mayhem, and for the first time, Ava reveled in the violence. She reveled in their bloodcurdling screams, if only to dull the aching in her heart. They screamed at her to stop, as their bodies charred within seconds. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain piercing through her back. Then, the darkness devoured her being.
Blinking awake, she found herself strapped up and tranquilized. Through blurry vision, she could make out the face of a man. “Ava,” the familiar voice said, “This is what you’re going to remember. Pictures flashed through her mind, cherished memories of her childhood, her time spent with Kaden and everyone she ever loved was slowly fading into nothingness. Then, everything went white.
She stood by the window and pressed the palm of her fragile boned hand against the sill. The coolness chill against the soft and supple skin. Try as she might, she could not shrug away the empty feeling which had lingered all week long. With wide glazed eyes, she continued to stare outside the window. Stinging anger prickled inside her, even though she did not know why, try as she might to rack her brain. Ava clutched at her head as it pulsed in agony, her mind was a confusing haze.
She wiped a hand at her tear-glistened eyes, blinding her vision to the seemingly endless flakes of snow pouring outside her window. They fluttered in the freezing air for a few moments but never lingering like the hollowness she felt. It was the start of what seemed like an endless winter.
Present day
"Even at the very end, all he cared about was himself." Gunnar muttered in disgust as Ava burnt the portrait that once hung extravagantly on the wall. The interior of the castle was now ruined, smoking in flames and its once lavish walls had crumbled.
"Figured something out, Ava?" said Vincent, looking right in her eyes.
"Yes, we now know that he's involved in the kidnappings and murders, but his death doesn't stop it all." she muttered, her voice seemed different now. Then, her vision grew unsteady and she stumbled. "What is it that you've learned?" Vincent said, concern in his voice as he gripped her by the shoulders, steadying her.
"We travel onward, to Azure." was all she said, before she collapsed into his arms with exhaustion.
