One of you can drive the SUV and I will open the gate.”

  “Cassius will lock everything down if he sees us leave,” Gabriela warns, but I can see a twinkle start in her eyes.

  “Well, just before Aria joined us I saw Ceric go into the training room to work out. Cassius might think it’s him leaving and not lock everything down until it’s too late,” Jasmine enlightens us.

  “Okay, well that means we need to hurry. Ceric won’t be there for long.” I’m already moving towards the door with them rushing after me. We make it to the garage without bumping into any of the men who have stayed behind.

  Gabriela picks a key from the ones that are hang
ing on the shelf next to the door. Making her way towards the SUV, she unlocks it. We are in the car and driving out of the garage before we even take a breath. “This is so exciting,” Jasmine says from the back seat.

  “Don’t celebrate yet, we still need to make it out of the main gate,” I remind her, but the excitement is contagious. I can feel my heart beating faster as we near the gate. I see Sven patrolling the wall but even if he wanted to he’s too far away from the gate to stop us. The gate opens and we’re racing out onto the road.

  “Yay!” Gabriela squeals. “We made it!”

  We are nearly into the town when the car slows and stops. “Why’re you stopping?” I ask looking around at the trees parallel to the road. I haven’t gone out much since being at the compound, but the times that I do the scenery still leaves me breathless.
