Romance: Yes, Stepbrother!

She thought of the way Dylan looked at her. Maybe he was trying to make it easier on her if Jake won, but that was too much. How could he turn away from her like that, no matter what was happening? He did it because he loved her and he quelled all of his emotion to make it easier on her so she could overcome the tragedy of losing him. Jake was bigger, stronger and crueler. Dylan was certain that he was going to lose, and that couldn't happen.
Then there was the fact that Dylan never told her about himself. That felt like a betrayal. She thought she loved him, that she could stay with him on this world for the rest of her life, but she couldn't stay with a man that could hide something this big from her. What really bothered her about it was the way that power drives people, and pushes them to do terrible things. There has never been an honest politician on Earth, and they fight to get to where they are by cheating, stealing. Earthlings were the only reference that she had, so she knew she could've easily been cheated.
There was so much at stake. Dylan had never mentioned his status. “How are your rulers chosen?”
“Any man can be elected as ruler, so long as they have maintained a modest lifestyle and win election. When you were taken to our planet, the two men were searching for their queen. Both men had equal support so they are dueling for the throne and your hand.”
“Why queen?”
“You were the most desired,” he answered sweetly.
Chapter 9
Becca was certain that Dylan cared, if only because of the moments they'd spent together, so as the man led her into the black and green hallway, she kept that love and held onto it tightly. It was her only comfort, and she knew that it would destroy her if Jake won. They would fight to the death and then she would have the option of returning to her world or living her life with Jake.
They thought that it would be a compassionate compromise, but like most compromises it came with great sacrifice. She told the man that losing Dylan would be like losing a part of herself, and he understood, but they fought to weed out the weakest members of the species. It was their form of natural selection, and it worked.
She was given a thin white dress with a gold belt that looked like a snake curling around her waist. She felt like it was a chain holding her down. She was crowned with a gold leaf olive vine and taken to the edge of the hallway which opened up to a chamber below the coliseum. It was dark, almost pitch black with wide walls, so wide that in the center of the circle, where he led her, it was pitch black.
She stood in the center of a raised platform that would rise to the top of the coliseum like she was a trophy. The irony was that this was exactly what a world full of men would do. They'd fight to the death, certain their strength would ensure the woman's affections and their place in the world. Strength didn't matter to Becca. All that mattered was the man that she loved. She promised herself that she would kill Jake, rip him from his body and cook him alive, if he won.
“What's going to happen now?”
The man reached out and straightened her belt. “They fight.”
The platform raised within a few seconds and the black ceiling opened up to reveal the city above her. She could hear the sound of a roaring crowd and realized that her torment would be the main spectacle of the day. She covered her chest with her arms and tried to decide what face she wanted to show these people. She didn't care what they thought of Dylan. She just wanted to be with him, so it didn't matter if she looked bad, but if she looked good, she would be giving them the lovely trophy they wanted to see. She decided to run her hands through her hair, turning it into a tangled mess.
She wanted the people to see Jake making a fool of himself. He initiated this process. He wasn't going to get much out of it. She turned around and posed for the people with her hands on her hips as if she had no idea just how terrible she looked.
A holographic head appeared above her. The man had a perfectly shaped black goatee and styled hair. He reminded her of a mob boss. The head turned and addressed the people. “Today we will decide the fate of this young woman, taken from Earth two nights ago. We will also be choosing the next ruler of Centaur. This is a historic, one that only takes places once or twice in a century. What happens here today will determine the future of our species.” He turned to her left and faced another platform that stopped when it reached the stage. Dylan was there, standing on the black floor. To her right Jake was rising up out of the ring. Dylan averted his gaze, no matter how much she stared down at him. Her image was being shown across the stadium, so she used that chance to give Jake the finger. The crowd went wild.
“The Challengers, Jake Crescent and Dylan Lorrance will be fighting to the death for the honor to be with this fine woman, and inherent the golden crown.” Her platform rose above the head, and her form was magnified and projected around her as she circled the crowd, just high enough for them to be able to smell her. The men showed vulgar displays of sexuality and barbarism, yelling out and whistling as she passed by. It didn't matter how her hair looked, they wanted her.
“Gentlemen,” the head began in a singsong voice, “take your weapons.” The men grabbed silver poles that had risen up out of the ground, then the tops of their platforms separated and they hovered in the air on thin black disks.
“Fight,” the head yelled.
Becca's disk floated up to the very top of the coliseum, and an air shield started to flow out of the sides, encasing her in a semi-sphere bubble of oxygen as the coliseum began to fill with water, encased in a crystalline roof.
As the water began to flow upwards, the men dove down and circled the perimeter of the coliseum. Both men had their poles in one hand. Dylan crossed in front of his opponent, and Jake lunged forward with his stick sending silver slivers of light in his direction. They sliced through his shoulder and he had to fight to stay standing.
He immediately counterattacked by sending a jolt of purple light out, blasting towards Jake, but it missed and slammed into the floor. Becca had never seen anything like this. Their weapons were unfamiliar and sophisticated.
Jake used that moment of distraction to send out a thin spear of the same material, but Dylan sidestepped it and sent a jolt out that slammed into Jake's chest, burning off several layers of skin and leaving the front of his body completely raw. Dylan sent another jolt and then another, hitting him in the lag and then his shoulder. Wherever the light touched, the flesh boiled and little wounds were already opening up.
Jake double over onto his knees and tried to catch his breath. Dylan came closer to send a decisive blow to the man's chest, but Jake shot up, with surprising strength and sent out a barrage of needles flying out of his pole, slamming Dylan in the thigh. She couldn't see it. He was wincing from the pain, and biting his lip.
Jake moved to the back wall and started laughing. He was going to win. Everyone was cheering for him, urging him to take the final blow. Dylan plunged his staff forward and sent jolt after jolt Jake's way. The man barely noticed them until it was too late, and they were hitting him one after the other. His entire body was burned so badly he could barely move.
The man lifted his disk up to the top of the arena and looked down at Dylan who had prepared his final blow.
“Becca!” Becca heard Ellie's voice crying, and she looked up to see her image flying above them. She was being held inside an icy box that seemed to float in midair above the coliseum.
“Ellie!?” Her voice was magnified out of the loudspeaker. Dylan was watching the whole thing. “Save her Dylan!”
Dylan nodded his head and looked up to shoot a bolt out of his staff, but it was almost too late. A spear pierced him through the chest and he fell over. Jake's disk was moved out of the arena. He was jumping up and down. Right before he descended below, he threw her a kiss. She was going to kill him. She promised herself she'd do it if he killed Dylan, and as grief stricken as she was, she had to hold onto that to keep going. It would get her through all of this.
The only comfort she would ever have again is vengeance. The world was
gray and dull. She lost her senses and didn't even realize she'd collapsed against the air shield until she felt the darkness of the lower chamber reach her eyes. There were strong hands carrying her out. She didn't care. He was gone and she was never going to see him again. How could he? He came into her life like a cavalier prince, showing her wonders she couldn't even imagine, then she watched him die. It didn't matter where she was or who she was with, it would never be him and she couldn't live with that.
Ellie's appearance was like salt to her wounds. The poor girl was being burned by the ice, forced into a cage and paraded around like she was a trophy. Whatever these creatures were, she could never live in a world where this was considered an acceptable practice.
Chapter 10
Everything was hazy. She moved as if she were walking through a fog. She felt a hard warm surface below her, dragging her through a dark hallway, then the green crystalline light of another room, but she didn't pay attention. All Becca saw was the spear driving its way through Dylan's chest and Ellie desperately begging for relief.
She would never move past that, and she couldn't forgive herself for leaving her friend behind. The worst part was that Ellie was caught up in the whole mess and would probably be pawned off to another Centaurian. She would never find the human of her dreams or walk on the beach again. Instead, she would be confined to a watery prison, unable to return to her own world.
There were so many things that they would miss. They wouldn't get to see the sun set on the beach, or go to the coffee shop and sit out on the patio together. She would miss home, her parents and all of her other friends who would be wondering where she was.
There would never be a career or a nice house. All she would ever have is that brute forcing his way into her life, trying to tempt her into giving herself over to him. She couldn't live in that world, so she closed her eyes and tried to shut it out, but the shouting was just too much. She could barely discern what they were saying. She was so tired, but they wouldn't stop so she turned her head to the side and opened her eyes to see Ellie jumping up and down like a kid in a theme park.
“What...”
Becca couldn't believe it.
“Ellie?”
She felt Ellie take her head in her arms and slide her into a sweet embrace. “It's OK, Becca.”
Ellie sat up and Becca could see that she was unharmed, although her hair was a little tousled. “What happened? How did you get here?”
Ellie sat down on a hovering black cushion next to what appeared to be a gurney that Becca had been placed on. “I don't know. I woke up in your house after blacking out at the pier, and that man Jake took me to that cage and left me there for two days.”
“Do you know where we are?”
“I know. Right now we're on the lower base of the city, in a medical center. They're really great here, Becca. They apologized for the whole thing and promised us compensation and a place here if we need it. They just need to duel to keep the strongest of their species overcoming things.”
Becca listened, but she didn't really hear anything. That spear went right through him. He was dead, and there was nothing she could do about it. “Anyway, Becca, I got us a little bungalow outside the city that we can stay in until we decide what to do.” She started sobbing and she didn't stop, even when she was taken to their split level house, where they could stay for the rest of their lives if they wanted.
Ellie had couches and a Centaurian console setup in the living room and separate rooms and beds for both of them. She tried to do something nice, but Becca's comforter was thin and it didn't offer the relief that she desperately needed, not until that night when she woke up to hear the sound of footsteps coming down the green hallway. When she saw his contour, glowing in the soft light she nearly screamed.
“You died.”
“You're not with him, are you?” Dylan plopped on the bed beside her and rested his head on her stomach, tracing his fingers along her chest. “He forfeit the duel when he had Ellie suspended over the stadium to distract me.”
“Why didn't anyone tell me?”
“So I could come like this.” He stood up with his cock erect. His hands stroked over the shaft and she waited with her legs open, ready to receive him. He fell on top of her with the full force of a newly born king. He planted kisses down her neck like soft angel feathers, lingering at the nape so he could nibble softly. He sent sparks flying up the back of her head so that they spread out over her entire body, sending a trail of goosebumps with them.
Her soft moaning combined with deep, throaty growls as he moved lower so that his tongue could meet the tips of her nipples, setting her aflame as he pumped his hot body against hers. He moved his pelvis up and down her thigh, laughing softly while he pinched her nipples, making the fire burn higher and higher until she felt her thighs growing most like rain in the Sahara.
He lifted his hand just above the crease of her lips and stared up at her. “You want to take this?” he grabbed his cock with his other hand and lifted it then slammed is other hand against her soft opening.
“AH!” She could barely contain her scream. The harsh whip was like a jolt of lightning. He was moving his cock closer and closer to her place, and he parted her lips to see her inner sanctum. He was so close. She looked down to see the head of his cock coming closer to her lips. She wanted to take it in, every single inch and let him live in there piercing her entire body. “Put it in,” she whispered softly.
He shook his head and wagged his finger. “You have to say your majesty.”
“Your majesty.” He slapped his cock against her lips and she reeled from his touch.
“Your majesty what,” he laughed.
“Put your dick in me now,” she yelled. “Your majesty,” she added.
Slowly ran his cock along the opening, and her whole body pulsed with the throbbing sensation. She needed to feel it. She couldn't hold on much longer She tried to close herself off to stop the flow, but he shook her with every single sweet touch to the point where she couldn't help it she started screaming, panting and begging. “Do it now, your majesty!”
“Good girl,” he patted her face softly then jammed his cock in with bared teeth, driving her like a beast devouring its kill. He was so fast, driving so much pleasure through her body, that she barely knew where she was or what she was doing, just that his cock was pulsing through her, slamming as far in as it could go, jutting up against her spot as she screamed manically. He smiled and let his lips drop onto hers as she rode the rapturous, throbbing wave that moved in time with his sweetly sculpted hips. His breath was hot on his face and when they met eyes and he gave her that one final thrust, it was like she'd been blessed from the gods, surrounded by insurmountable pleasure, and his eyes, when they went to the back of his head drove her mad.
He fell to her side and muzzled his stubbly chin against her neck. She let herself forget the world for a moment and bask in her gratitude. He was finally there with her, and she wouldn't have to be with Jake.
“Why didn't you tell me who you were?”
“I wanted to be sure you wanted me.”
“You died. What happened?”
“He forfeit so they regenerated the damaged parts of my body. His supporters brought Ellie along to distract me, and the judges considered it cheating.”
“What will happen?”
“Anything we want. I will help make the large decisions regarding commerce, exploration and such.”
“Your race needs to advance, Dylan. You're living off the ruins of the ancients, aren't you?”
“Yes.” He pulled away to get a better look at her.
“You've become lazy. There's no science or innovation. You need to better yourselves for the good of your people. You can't let the scourge destroy your people's desire to explore and learn. If you can travel between worlds, imagine what else you could do. You have everything you need, but the time will come when you need to learn more. Use this freedom to dedicate yourselves to science expl
oration.”
“We'll do this together—you and I.” She kissed him and they lay back down together.
“We?”
“Well, you're the queen.”
Epilogue
Dylan paced around the hallways of the crystal palace outside the queen's chambers, guarded by three betas who were staring blankly at the wall. He had been shoved out by the others to allow her some dignity, but what he really wanted to do was storm in to see what was happening.
He almost commanded the men to allow him to enter, but he decided to take a seat on a cushion near the doorway. He was scared. She might be in trouble, but he couldn't tell. By the time he was about ready to give up, an Alpha in a white body suit came out holding something wrapped in a little blanket. He nearly cried when he rushed over and saw the boy's scrunched up nose, just like his own.
He ran in with the baby in his arms to see the queen laughing at him. “He's so beautiful Becca!” He was like a child with a new toy. He could barely contain his excitement.
“What would you like to name him,' she asked.
“Oh, I don't know.” He put his finger to his chin and tried to think. “Why don't you think of something.”
“Let's call him after his father—Dylan.”
They both agreed.
