Palm Haven Shifters: Complete Five-Part Series

“But damn if you didn’t make a believer out of me, Mon. I know you’re the one I want to spend every moment with and I think it’s time we make it official.”
Monica’s heart hammered, a constant stream of oh God, oh God, oh, please God don’t do this now, playing through her head.
He pulled the box open slowly and Monica screwed her eyes shut tight, willing the whole thing to be over.
“You should have more than just a drawer in my dresser,” he said.
Wait… what?
Monica opened her eyes and finally looked at the box.
Where she expected a flashy diamond ring, there was a shiny gold key and she just about fell through the floor.
“You’re…” She muttered.
“I’m asking you to move in with me. You already spend nearly every night at my place… I don’t ever want to have to wake up without you next to me again.”
“Holy shit,” she blew out a long breath, breaking into peals of laughter. “Yes, of course, I’d love to.”
Reed frowned, confused by her uncontrollable laughter. “What’s so funny?”
She swiped at tears, hoping she wasn’t messing up her carefully applied mascara.
“I thought you were proposing.”
Reed’s eyes went wide. “It’s only been three months!”
Monica dissolved into more giggles. “I know! I thought you’d lost your damn mind.”
Everything finally made sense to Reed and he joined in on her laughter. “No wonder you looked like you were headed for a firing squad. I guess I made a bigger deal out of this than I needed to…”
“No! It’s perfect, I was just getting way ahead of myself.”
Reed smirked. “Admit it, you can’t wait to be Mrs. Carlisle.”
Monica snorted inelegantly. “I can definitely wait for that.”
He faked a pout. “Well, fine. But you can’t wait to get me naked and take advantage of me.”
She reached across the table and took his hand in hers. “Okay, you got me there.”
Reed squeezed her hand. “Fair warning, the next time I’m in this suit I will be proposing.”
“I’ll make sure I hide it well until I’m ready, then,” she teased back.
His expression turned serious and he traced the outline of the key pressed to her palm. “All that aside, you really do want to move in?”
Monica grinned. “Of course. Though, your place is totally a bachelor pad. I might have to call Emily to help spruce it up.”
Reed groaned playfully. “Oh no, what have I gotten myself into?”
She leaned across the table to kiss him and smiled. “Only the best damn thing that’s ever happened to you.”
Reed smiled — that same smile that made her pulse do double-time and sent her magic into a tizzy, still.
“No arguments here.”
