Hakeem & Tasia 3: A Brick City Love Story
Page 14
“About time nigga, damn. How long have I been telling you that shit?”
“Fuck you Keem. Everybody can’t be like you.”
“Shit, I’m not perfect, but I just know, that right there, isn’t worth losing. For no damn body.” I pointed at Tay and she just happened to be looking right at me. She was in the kitchen with her sister, her mom, Liyah and Mona talking about us, I was sure, because there was a lot of whispering going on.
“This what I got to look forward to one day?” Kendrick asked as he walked up to me and Jodie looking around our apartment.
“Hell no, Liyah ain't having no damn kids. Well fuck, you can adopt but you get her pregnant and I’m personally fucking you up. Shit nigga, don’t even let me see you kiss her, real talk,” Jodie said and even though he was joking, a part of him was serious as hell because I was feeling the same way.
Kendrick had never been around Jodie so he didn’t really know how to react, but he was street raised so he knew enough not to back down.
“I guess we’ll just have to square up one day and see what happens, because she’s having my kid eventually; shit, a bunch of them, if she’s down.”
I just laughed and Jodie looked like he was about to rock the shit out of Kendrick, but he let it go and laughed.
“Yeah aight, I guess I can’t really do shit about that. That’s still baby sis, so I’m not really feeling it, but at least your ass didn’t bitch up on me.” He dapped Kendrick.
“Nah, never that. It isn’t in me,” Kendrick said.
“Daddy, can Angel stay, please?” Jay walked up with Riley in his arms and Angel by his side, but Angel moved towards Jodie and grabbed his legs.
“Yes Daddy, please, can I stay?” Angel begged.
“Another time mami,” Jodie said as he looked down at Angel.
“No, today, please?” Angel continued to beg.
“Go ask them,” I pointed to Mona and Tay in the kitchen. “If they say yes, then you can stay.”
“Okay.” Jaysyn lowered Riley to the floor and they took off to the kitchen where Tay and Mona were, and as Angel and Riley started talking, Mona and Tay both turned to looked over at us. Tay narrowed her eyes and I shrugged and laughed.
“You know she’s gonna cuss your ass out for that,” Jodie said.
“So, I wasn’t about to tell them no and neither were you, so you’re welcome,” I said.
“Damn, it’s like that? The setup is real,” Jaysyn said and laughed.
“Hell yeah it is. You better be taking note. This will be you one day.”
“Nah, not for a while though.” He looked around and then shook his head once his eyes fell on Brit.
The rest of the party went smooth. Everyone chilled, made Riley feel like she was princess for the day and gave her more shit than she needed. It was all good though. Anything for my baby girl. Janelle was there but I barely even noticed her. The girls, well everyone except Liyah tried to include her, so that she wouldn’t feel out of place, but I really didn’t give a fuck. She did it to herself. Liyah wasn’t dealing with her like that though. My sister could hold a grudge for days and it was funny as hell.
After everyone left and we had Riley and Angel settled in, I could finally spend time with Tay. She was walking around the living room, trying to clean up after the party, but that could wait. I had something else in mind.
Without saying a word, I met her in the living room, took the bag she was holding out of her hand and set it on the table.
“Keem, stop, we need to get this mess cleaned up,” she said reaching for the bag again.
“Not tonight, let’s go,” I said taking her hand and leading her towards our bedroom. She just smiled, but didn’t object as she followed behind me; however, when we reached our room, she tried to break free to go across the hall to check on the girls.
“They’re good. I just checked. Come on.” I placed my hands on her waist, guided her into our room and shut the door behind us.
“What are you doing?” she asked after I locked the door and pulled my shirt over my head.
Instead of answering, I just removed the rest of my clothes and then started on hers.
“So we’re not talking?” she said with a grin, as I backed her into the bed.
I just shook my head to tell her no, and then kissed her on the neck.
She sat down and scooted towards our headboard and waited for me to join her.
Once we were close again, she reached for me, placing her one hand behind my neck and the other on my back to bring me closer.
After a few more kisses, my hand went between her legs and began massaging her center while she stared in my eyes. I could see the pleasure building as my fingers moved in and out of her, and it didn't take long for her first orgasm to hit.
Her breathing picked up and I grabbed her waist, pulling her body close to mine, and entered her slowly. Her body reacted inch by inch, and when my rhythm picked up, she smiled and started matching my strokes.
I leaned down just enough to kiss the side of her face and whispered in her ear, “Forever right?” When I lifted my head so that I could see her face, she nodded and then pulled me into a kiss.

I walked into Tay’s office to find Jacob. I needed his help in order to make things work, and since I convinced Tay to take Angel home, I had a few hours to start making plans, without her nosy ass trying to figure out what I was up to.
“To what do I owe the honor?” Jacob asked when I walked into his office and sat down.
“I need you to help me with something, but you have to keep it from Tay.”
“Hmm, this sounds juicy. I’m in, what’s up?”
“I need you to plan a wedding for me. I don't know shit about that kind of stuff, but I want it to be a surprise and I need it to happen by this weekend.”
Jacob looked at me like I had lost my mind, but fuck it. I was serious, and who better than Jacob to figure this shit out for me. I would pay for it, as long as he worked out the details. I had heard Jacob and Tay talking plenty of times about stuff like this, so I figure he could make it work.
“Um, do you think that it’s smart to plan her wedding for her, and not include her in the details?”
“That’s why I said surprise. Damn, are you listening?”
“Look, chill with the attitude Sir Rudeness, I heard what you said but, I don’t think it’s a good idea, and by this weekend? I don’t even think I can pull that off, and we all know I’m simply amazing, for lack of better words.” Jacob smiled thinking about how he had just complimented himself.
“Well if you’re so damn amazing, then you can make this shit work, can’t you?”
Like someone flipped a switch, Jacob transitioned into his typical dramatic self and let out a long sigh, waving his hand in the air. I swear that annoyed the hell out of me. I didn't know how Tay spent so much time around him.
“Fine, I was never one to shy away from a challenge. What’s the rush anyway?” he asked looking equally annoyed.
“She’s pregnant.”
“She is not,” Jacob said looking hurt.
“How the fuck you gonna tell me she’s not, when I just told your ass she was?”
“Well she didn’t tell me,” he pouted.
“You can just chill with this shit; she didn’t tell me yet either. I heard her talking to her sister about it.”
He perked up a little. “Well this is not the 50’s… you don’t have to marry her, which you obviously know, because you're already a baby daddy,” Jacob said with a smug look.
“Don’t make me smack your simple ass. That right there, is why I want to marry her. I know I don’t have to do shit. Bottom line is this, the whole Jay situation was fucked up, and even though Tay didn’t give me my first child, she will not be a fucking baby mother. She deserves more than that. I’m not marrying her because she’s pregnant, I’m marrying her because I love her and I want her to be my wife.
“Look at you being all romantic. I d
idn't know you had it in you,” Jacob said, looking liked a he was about to damn cry.
“Can you make that shit happen or not?”
“Yes, yes, yes, just relax. I assume I have access to unlimited funds. You know this is going to cost, right?”
“Yeah, you got what you need, just don’t run out. You know Tay don’t do that flashy shit, and I was thinking we could use the club since we don’t have a lot of time.”
“I know exactly what my love bug likes, so I have it covered.”
“And keep your mouth shut. I don’t want her to find out. It’s a surprise.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’ve got it. Now leave so I can make this happen. I have magic to produce.”
I was more than willing to get out of there, before he made me want to strangle his over the top ass. I chuckled to myself, as I left the office. Jacob was annoying as fuck, but he was good people, and most of all he loved Tay, so I knew he had me covered. He would make sure this worked. Now, all I had to do was make sure I got everybody there, and without them killing my surprise.

“Get up Tay, I told you we have plans. You can’t stay in bed all day.”
“Not all day, just a little while longer. Its only 10:00, and this is the first Saturday in forever that we haven't had Riley, so please just let me lay here and do nothing. I promise I’ll get up in a little while.”
My head was spinning, and I felt like I was going to pass out if I got up anyway. I was seriously considering just telling Hakeem that the reason I wanted to lay in bed all day was because I was pregnant, and apparently this baby wanted me to suffer a long and painful pregnancy. The way I was currently feeling had me really close to telling him, but I decided to wait until my actual doctor’s visit. It was killing me to keep it to myself, because lately that was all he seemed to talk about. Every other conversation was about having a son or a daughter, and how he would be happy with either as long as they were healthy.
My sister thought I was crazy for not telling him, but I just needed to be sure everything was okay. I couldn’t tell him and have him fall in love with the idea, before I knew a hundred percent that it was happening, and that everything was good.
“No, you can’t. I told you I have plans for us today. You just said this is the first weekend without Riley and I want to do something special with you. Now get up.” Hakeem leaned over my body and kissed me, before he started towards the door.
“Come lay down with me then. This bed is real special. I think staying here all day, with you, would be a perfect day,” I said hoping he’d go for it.
He turned and looked at me with a smirk. “Get up, and I’m not going to ask you again. I have reservations and I’m not canceling them just because you’re too lazy to get out of bed.”
With that, he walked out the room, and I snatched the covers off me, and sat up, quickly regretting my sudden motion. I had to only be about two months at this point, so I was really thinking that I would die before I survived another seven, if it was anything like this.
I waited for my head to stop swimming before I finally put my feet on the floor and stood up. This was about to be a long day.
I felt a lot better after I showered and dressed, but my body was still cursing me for moving around, when it was begging or rather demanding that I just lay still. I was really thinking that there was no way that I was going to survive this day if things didn’t change real soon.
“Why you looking like that?” Hakeem asked when he walked back into the room. He was really starting to get on my nerves. I swear he was walking ‘round here, grinning and happy, and it was insanely annoying.
“Like what?” I asked rolling my eyes at him.
“Nothing.” He just chuckled and walked into the closet, and I really wanted to throw something at him.
“You ‘bout ready?” he asked.
“Where are we going anyway?” I asked as I sat on the bed so that I wouldn’t hit the floor.
“I need to run by the club for a minute and then I have a surprise for you, so stop asking because I’m not going to tell you, but I promise you’ll love it.”
“You sure you don’t want to reschedule your surprise?” I pouted.
Hakeem walked over and stood in front of me with his arms folded. “Since when do you not like surprises?”
“I hate surprises and you know it.” I looked up at him and frowned.
“If I didn’t know any better I’d swear your ass was pregnant, the way you’ve been acting lately.” Now he had my attention. I looked up at him and to see if he actually knew, but he had a neutral expression and didn’t seem like he was moved one way or the other.
“Well I’m not, so let’s go before I’m tempted to climb back in bed.”
He just laughed. “Yeah, aight.”
When we made it to the club, I tried to stay in the truck since Hakeem claimed he wouldn't be long, but he wasn’t trying to hear it. I got out and we made our way to the door.
“What’s all this?” I looked around and the place was decorated in all white and sliver. There were string lights everywhere and there was a canopy over the dance floor. It was really pretty.
“We’re hosting a wedding,” Hakeem said like it didn’t mean anything at all. He grabbed my hand and led me up the stairs towards his office.
“A wedding? Ah that’s sweet, why didn’t you tell me?”
He laughed. “Hell, I don’t know. I didn’t really think about it.”
“Who is it for, I wanna come? It’s strange that you’re having a wedding here though.” She laughed. “What, did they meet each other here or something?”
“Maybe.”
When we got to his office, he unlocked the door and walked in. I followed behind him and sat down on the sofa in his office while he walked over to his desk, picked up a stack of papers and then moved towards the door.
“I’ll be right back,” he said and I just nodded.
A few minutes later I heard someone enter the room, and I was checking messages from my clients, so I didn’t bother looking up because I assumed it was Hakeem, until I heard Lisa’s voice.
“You haven’t seen me in months and I can’t even get a hug.”
After I looked up and saw her standing there grinning, I jumped up and ran to her. I threw my arms around my best friend and hugged her like I hadn’t seen her in years; it felt like years anyway. It was right then that I realized that I had been set up and Hakeem wasn’t coming right back.
“What are you doing here, are you my surprise? Oh my God. I can’t believe you didn’t tell me.”
“Well ya know, your boy pretty much threatened my life so I had to do the right thing, and besides, it was worth it to see the look on your face.”
“I can’t believe you,” I said checking her out. “You look good, Lisa. Damn, I guess Virginia agrees with you.”
“Hoe please, I always look good.”
“Okay, okay enough of that. We have work to do,” Jacob said as she entered Hakeem’s office carrying a dress bag over his shoulder.
“Wait, what are you doing here?”
“You’re getting married today love bug.”
“Wait what? I’m not getting married, I can’t…we can’t… you don’t randomly get married,” I said looking at them confused.
“It’s not random. It took me all week to pull of this little miracle, so stop talking and let’s get to work. We only have a few hours to make you look fabulous.”
“Jacob no, I’m not… where is he? I swear I’m going to kill him. How do you even plan a weeding without telling the person you’re marrying?” I yelled throwing my hands in the air.
“When your tall, sexy and edible, you do what you want, when you want. He went through a lot of trouble to make this happen, so do you honestly want to complain about that or trust that I know you well enough to make this fabulous. Everyone will be here so, make up your mind.”
“We can’t just get married. What about l
icense and all that, it won’t be legal?”
“Taken care of. As soon as you sign these, it’s legal. Keem already signed. Douglas took care of it for me, so are there any other excuses?” Jacob asked holding up what looked like the stack of papers that Hakeem left with.
“Tay, really? He planned a wedding for you, a surprise wedding, that’s just how much he loves you. Now stop acting crazy and let us do our thing. Brit and your mom are on their way,” Lisa said now focused on me.
“She’s mad isn’t she?” Liyah asked when she walked into Hakeem’s office.
“So I guess I’m the only one who didn’t know?” I asked looking around the room.
“You do understand the meaning of surprise, don't you?” Liyah said with a smirk.
“Oh my God. I cannot believe this.” I let out a frustrated sigh.
“Believe it love bug. Now quit your whining and let’s get started.”
I looked around at everyone, as they stared at me waiting for me to get over issues with this whole surprise wedding. Honestly, I couldn’t be mad. What woman could say that their man loved them enough to plan a weeding for them?
“Well, can I at least see my dress?”
A grin crept across Jacob’s face, before he walked over to Hakeem’s desk and laid out the suit bags he was carrying and then unzipped it. He pulled out a dress that he and I had been lusting over from one of our designers. It was a knee-length fitting dress, with a beaded corset and satin bandage bottom.
“How did you-”
“Hello, I’m Jacob, have we meet?” he said sarcastically.
“That is absolutely gorgeous,” Lisa said.
“Well I guess I’m getting married,” I said and hugged Jacob.
“Oh thank God. I look too damn good to be wasting all this sexy, now let’s get started. We have A LOT of work to do,” Jacob said as his eyes landed on me.
“Did you really just low key snap on me?” I asked and rolled my eyes at Jacob.
“We all know you’re a certified hottie, but we all can also agree that you need a little extra help today. It’s your wedding day love bug, you have to look fierce.”
