Her Master's Heart

by Lawrence Southwick

  Robin blushed at his compliment, feeling as if her heart might explode.

  After they ate, Master drove to her apartment, so she could gather some items. She frowned at the idea of him seeing the messy squalor she lived in. Had she picked up the clothes she'd strewn about before meeting Master? Had she been in such a rush, that she'd left everything where it lay? She honestly couldn't remember.

  Fortunately, once they got there, things didn't look as bad as she'd feared. Sort of 'class three tornado' bad, rather than 'Augean Stables' bad. She quickly stuffed some of her things in a bag and bent to pick up some other items from the floor, when a surprised voice startled her.

  “Mom?” The high-pitched voice could only be Ruthie.

  Robin straightened and turned towards the door, smiling. Oh. Both Ruthie and David stood there. David was glowering over her shoulder...at Master. Oh, God.

  “Who are you, buddy?” David was belligerent, rude.

  Robin wanted to spank some respect and manners into him. Would she have had that thought a couple of months ago? Master gazed at him nonchalantly and answered in a soft voice.

  “Hello, I'm a friend of your mom's.”

  “Oh my God!” said Ruthie. “Are you...dating?!” She seemed appalled.

  Apparently, mothers weren't supposed to date. Robin guessed her censure also applied to mothers being sexual beings…or even women. Of course, she'd probably been going against her children's belief that it's a crime against nature for her, as their mother, to have sex or screaming orgasms, to be a submissive and everything else she'd been “up to” in their absence.

  “Ruthie, David...this is Robert. Robert, these are my children.”

  David looked sullenly at Robert and pointedly refused to shake his hand. Ruthie held her hand over her mouth, like some Victorian spinster, horrified that Mr. Darcy would dare to say such intemperate things.

  “We came over to see if you were okay, Mom,” said Ruthie. “We've been calling, but you haven't been home. Well, you haven't been answering your phone, at least. We were worried.” Her eyes slid to stare at Master, and it was clear what she was thinking.

  Well, thought Robin. If only they knew…

  “I apologize, Robert, for the rudeness shown by my children. I assure you, I did not raise them this way.”

  Robin aimed her “mother-glare” at the two of them, finally satisfied when they shamefacedly looked away and mumbled half-assed apologies. David even squeezed Master's fingers, in a limp imitation of a handshake.

  “It's quite all right,” said Master. “I don't think I’d have taken kindly to some strange man dating my mother, either. Not without my vetting him, first.”

  “Would you mind giving me a moment alone with them?”

  He shook his head, smiling. “Not at all, Robin. I'll be downstairs in the car, whenever you’re ready.” He scooped up the bag she'd packed and went out the door.

  As soon as he left, both Ruthie and David began their rapid-fire attack, demanding answers.

  “Quiet! Both of you,” she said.

  David looked mulish, Ruthie questioning.

  “I understand your concerns and I know you love and care about me. However, I’m an adult, as are you both. I wouldn't dream of interfering in either of your love lives. Kindly do me that same honor.”

  Ruthie gasped. “Love?! Mom! You don't mean it!”

  Robin squared her shoulders. “I certainly do mean it. We've been...together for almost two months, now. We care about each other very much. I don’t know exactly where our relationship's going. However, you'll need to trust we’ll navigate that course ourselves, without your assistance or condemnation. Robert's a good man. He appreciates me and treats me with respect.”

  David looked unconvinced, as if he might storm out and demand to know what Master's intentions were, towards his mother.

  “Listen you two; I spent way too many years being lonely. I was married but ignored and taken for granted. Then I spent years alone. Now is my time. I've devoted my life to taking care of everyone but myself. I deserve to be happy. I deserve love. So pull up your big-girl panties and your big-boy underpants, and face facts! I'm not asking for your blessing, nor your opinion. You can wish us well or you can choose to ignore us, but you won't be a speed bump in my life. You can't keep me from happiness. Do you hear me?”

  Being totally unaccustomed to seeing their mother being assertive or standing up for herself, David and Ruthie stood there frozen and pale, listening to her in stunned silence.

  The two of them nodded mutely when Robin finished her speech.

  Heartened by their acquiescence, Robin pulled both of them into her for a group hug, rubbing their shoulders as she did so.

  “You know I love you both, right?”

  They mumbled, “Yes, mom.”

  She smiled at them and ushered them out the door, locking it behind her. “Good, because we have a long weekend planned, with lots of sex, so it's time for you both to go. Goodbye. I love you both!”

  As they stood there, their eyes wide and their mouths agape, Robin gave them a cheery wave goodbye and joined Master in his car.

  OTHER

  As usual, things didn't turn out as I planned. Yet again.

  After all of my waiting, I'd thought things were going to go my way. I’d had my two days of rest, and I was bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, prepped and ready to go.

  I followed them out and saw them eating and talking. Then they headed back to the bitch's apartment.

  Initially, I'd thought, 'Finally! He's driving her home. Once he leaves, I can make my move. All of my tools are on the seat next to me; ready to go.'

  Then, what do you know? The SOB went into the apartment with her.

  When, the fuck, can I finally get this bitch alone?

  After a few minutes, THEY show up. What? The kids? What the hell are they doing here? What is this, a friggin’ party? Could this get any worse?

  I'm stuck outside watching and waiting. Again. Seems like it's all I do anymore.

  After a little while, the boyfriend left the apartment alone.

  Hmm, OK. This could still work. When the kids leave, I can finally move ahead.

  This is a stupid job, not my life's work!

  Shortly after, my heart and my hopes are both shot to Hell, yet again.

  I watch the bitch escort the kids out and lock the door behind them. Then she gets in the car with the asshole, and they drive off together.

  Fuck!

  Chapter 28.

  ROBIN

  When Robin had made her speech telling her kids she didn't need their approval or blessing to be with Robert, she'd meant it. She wouldn't give up Master for anything; however, she greatly wanted her children and Robert in her life. They were all important to her and she wanted them all to get along.

  To be honest with herself, she really did want their blessings.

  After some time and effort, Robin had finally convinced David to come to dinner at Master's house. Ruthie had been easier. She'd come over to spend time with her mom and Robert on a couple of occasions. They'd gotten along well, without any issues.

  Nevertheless, David had held out. He'd always been stubborn.

  It seemed as though David’s new girlfriend had some influence over him. She'd scolded him when she'd learned of Robin's invitation, and they finally accepted.

  While Master cooked the spaghetti, Robin tossed the salad but couldn't help feeling butterflies in her stomach.

  Master sensed her trepidation. His arms came around her from behind, encircling her in a warm, comforting embrace. She breathed in his scent, one of spices, tomatoes and clean sweat—the tantalizing scent was uniquely his. She loved his smell. Her eyes closed in happiness.

  The bell rang. “Showtime,” said Master.

  David was his usual aloof, reluctant self, barely managing more than a grunt and scowl. His girlfriend, Peggy, however, was a breath of fresh air. She was a beautiful, sweet young girl. Her corn silk
hair was pulled back in a ponytail and her lovely blue eyes looked huge in her face.

  Robin noticed that although he was a respectful and polite host, Master barely glanced at Peggy. His gaze stayed fixed on Robin throughout the evening, warming her.

  Then the entire evening came crashing down.

  Master innocently asked her, “Would you please get the dessert, Robin?”

  She answered automatically, without thinking.

  “Yes, Master.” Immediately, she blushed deeply and gasped as she heard the words leave her mouth.

  David jumped up from his seat, sending his chair clattering over, as he shouted, “Oh my God, I KNEW it!”

  All at once, everyone was talking, and no one was listening.

  Finally, Master used his firmest Dom voice. “Stop now!”

  In the shocked silence that followed, Master spoke in calm, even tones.

  “Yes, Robin and I have an unconventional relationship.”

  David snorted. Master caught his gaze and glared at him. David backed down immediately.

  “We're very happy. It works for us. Frankly, it's none of your business in the same way your private life is just that—private. We deserve the same honor. If there hadn't been a slip of the tongue, you wouldn't have known.”

  David looked incredulous. “How can you say that? How is it none of my business? She's my mother! What's she to you? Your slave? Oh my God!”

  Master knocked on the table with his knuckles, to get David's attention.

  “As I just said, whatever your mother is to me is OUR business, not yours. I sincerely appreciate your concern and protectiveness of your mother. I know you love her. However, we're consenting adults who respect and appreciate each other. I honestly cherish her and take care of her, and she does the same for me. That's what's important.”

  Robin smiled at Master through the tears running down her face. She was so proud of him, overflowing with affection at that moment.

  Peggy spoke up. “I think it's sweet.”

  David exploded at her. “Sweet?! Are you crazy? Look at how he treats her...”

  She cut him off. “Look at how YOU are treating her! Show her some respect. Give her your love, and let her live her own life. Open your eyes, David. Can't you see how much they care about each other? See how they look at each other?”

  Peggy smiled at Robin. “After all, David, I let you spank me.”

  David turned scarlet and whined at her, “Jesus, Peggy! Not in front of my Mom!”

  Peggy cocked her head at him. “Why not? You certainly feel free to judge her to her face. Let her see what a hypocrite you can be.” She took his hand. “I know you're better than this, David. You need to ease up and treat her better. She might be your mother, but she's also a person, a woman.”

  David grumbled incoherently.

  Peggy turned to Robin and Master. “I'm sorry we made such a mess of things tonight. We'd better go. We'll have dessert another time. I'm sure David will be in touch very soon, with his own apologies.”

  David looked as if he might object. Peggy's eyes flashed and he backed down.

  Robin bit her lip to keep from laughing. It was obvious who the dominant was in that relationship.

  Chapter 29.

  ROBIN

  Master took her to the Buffalo Historical Museum, somewhere she hadn't visited since she was a child.

  They walked through the echoing hall, hand in hand. He explained the history of various exhibits. When they approached a massive painting, hung high on the wall, Master leaned in to her.

  “This is my favorite. It's called, 'The Trial of Red Jacket'. It shows the famous Seneca chief and orator defending himself before a gathering of his fellow Native Americans, against charges of witchcraft.”

  The painting wasn't a typical 'wild Indian' kind of scene, not a drop of 'war paint' was present. Instead, the Indians were depicted sitting, smoking and listening to an impassioned speaker. Master went on to tell her the history of the chief and his influence on the Western New York area.

  Robin looked at him out of the corner of her eye. He was so animated, enthusiastic and full of life, as he explained one of his passions to her.

  This is how he looks when he dominates me. He's so intense, so focused. I love his passion!

  They ate a light lunch at The Anchor Bar, enjoying their world-famous chicken wings. Master liked them super-hot, but Robin preferred mild, with plenty of bleu cheese dressing.

  Afterwards, Robin took him to the library. She waved a friendly greeting to Grace Woodbine, the Head Librarian, as they proceeded to a side room. There, Master watched as she read aloud to a room full of children for Story time. Her voice and face altered with each character she portrayed, much to the delight, laughter and cheers of the kids.

  Partway through the book, she stole a glance at Master. What she saw in his face shook her. His expression held more than mere amusement or tolerance; he beamed at her with pride, and... Something else.

  Affection? Love? It was beautiful to behold. His expression warmed her and filled her with joy.

  Hurriedly, she continued with the reading. After the parents had collected all of their children, Robin was met by Grace, who gave her a big hug.

  “Oh, my dear!” Grace said, in her lovely contralto, “The children adore you! When are you going to have one of your own?”

  Blushing scarlet, Robin mumbled she'd already been there and done that.

  Grace, however, didn't hear her. She'd been distracted and had fixed her gaze on Master, obviously onto her next topic of interest.

  “And who are you, young man?”

  Only 70-year-old Grace could get away with a question like that, but still, Robin was mortified. She opened her mouth to respond, but Master interceded.

  “Hello, I'm Robert Westwood,” he told her, extending his hand, “I'm a friend of Robin's.”

  His deep voice resonated within Robin's belly. Thoughts of his sexy voice saying wonderfully wicked things in her ear and of his hands, touching her, playing...

  Jeez! What the Hell am I thinking!? Look at where I am! What's wrong with me? Am I becoming a nymphomaniac? I feel as if I'm suddenly obsessed with sex. Anything and everything Master says or does seems to trigger a sequence of events within my mind and body.

  Heat was rising within her, as she struggled to focus on the reality around her. She held her breath.

  Grace looked at her sidelong. “Well, Robin could use a friend like you,” she said slyly, with a knowing twinkle in her eyes.

  Robin nearly choked, as Grace laughed and turned away.

  Master whispered in her ear, “I was thinking it's the other way around, that I could use you...”

  With that, their eyes met and they quickly departed from the library.

  They drove to the beach at Woodlawn. They spent a couple of hours playing in the water of Lake Erie and sunning themselves on the sandy shores, surrounded by the happy cries of the many children around them. Sails dotted the water, which rippled with small waves. It was very picturesque.

  The next day, they wandered through downtown Buffalo and ate at the Taste of Buffalo. They enjoyed sampling foods from dozens of restaurants from all over Western New York State. The crowds were thick, and the cacophony of sounds and smells threatened to overwhelm her. However, every tidbit she tasted was more delicious than the last.

  Robin and Master greatly enjoyed their time together. They were completely at ease with one another, enjoying each other's company as they walked around people watching and chatting.

  As much as she delighted in watching the goings on and the people around her, Robin kept feeling her attention turning back to the man beside her. The man who held her hand. The man who'd done such incredibly wicked things to her body, just last night. It was as if he had his own gravity, which attracted her eyes as well as her body, pulling her toward him.

  His hand felt very good in hers.

  She could get used to that.

  ~~~
  O
THER
  He'd been watching the two of them all weekend, and he was beyond sick of it.
  They acted like tourists—like young lovers on vacation!
  They went to restaurants, museums and even to a library, for fuck's sake.
  They went to the beach for a couple of hours. He'd wondered what kind of kinky shit they'd be up to there. They just sunned themselves and swam a bit.
  Hell, they acted as if they were normal people.
  When they went to the Taste of Buffalo, it had been nearly impossible to follow them through the massive downtown crowds. He never got a chance to try any food because he couldn't take the time to wait in any of the lines.
  It was as if the fucking cunt was actively trying to make his life miserable.
  Damn that bitch! So far, she was succeeding.
  Well bitch, soon, the tables will turn.
  YOUR life will be miserable.
  Then, it’ll be OVER.
  Chapter 30.
  ROBIN
  When the doorbell rang, she wondered who it could be. Master was away, attending a conference, and Robin was puttering around his house alone, missing him terribly.
  Should I answer the door? This isn't my house.
  Don't be ridiculous. It's probably just a package delivery or something like that. Go and see.
  The sight through the peephole took her by surprise. David was standing there, his hands in his pockets. Quickly, she opened the door.
  “David! What a lovely surprise. Come in.”
  He slouched his way inside and awkwardly hugged her. Nonplussed, she led him to the living room. He sat next to her on the sofa.
  “Now, what brought this on? I thought you weren't speaking to me?”
  He hadn't spoken to her since the dinner party debacle where she'd accidentally outed herself as a submissive, and Master as her... well, Master.
  David had the decency to look embarrassed.
  “I'm sorry, Mom.” His voice was low, and he avoided meeting her eyes. “Peggy was right. I treated you badly. I was wrong, and I'm sorry.”
  Robin was stunned into momentary silence. His apology was quite out of character for her typically fiery-tempered son.
