Rain's Theory

“That’s my side,” she said before she rolled her eyes and turned her back to me to undress.
I chuckled, ignored her, and sat on the edge of her bed. “How long you been here Rain?”
“Not long.” She turned to face me wearing only a bra and panties, before she turned back towards her dresser pulled open one drawer, closed it and then another, before she had a t-shirt in her hand and pulled it over her head. My eyes traced her body and I knew right then that neither of us were going to sleep anytime soon.
“What’s not long? Apparently, you don’t know where your own shit is.” I looked across my shoulder at her and laughed.
“Today,” was all she said, before she walked to the side of the bed that I was on and stood in front of me, with her arms folded like her little ass could intimidate me.
“How the fuck you only been here one day and you claiming a side on this bed?”
“I always sleep on this side no matter what bed I’m in, so move please.”
I looked up at her before I grabbed the back of her thighs, pulling her between my legs. Once her body was close to mine, my hands moved up her body and across her waist, until they rested on her stomach.
“Did you miss me?”
Rain didn’t say a word, she just climbed in my lap and straddled my thighs. The way she looked at me gave me the answer that I was looking for. With one fluent motion, her shirt was over her head and on the floor, while I stood, holding her in place until her back was against the bed.
I admired her body for a few seconds, before I began to explore it with my hands and mouth. Every kiss, every touch felt effortless, like there was a natural flow to the way I explored her body. It was mine, had always been, so I knew exactly what she needed.
I kissed her stomach, spreading her thighs, and inserted two fingers inside her, keeping my eyes locked on hers the entire time. She belonged to me the same way I belonged to her; it didn’t matter who else had been in our lives. This right here, us, this was supposed to be.
I was getting impatient, consumed with the idea of being inside her, so I was on my feet letting my boxers hit the floor. Rain watched me and her eyes outlined my body which made me laugh a little. She was nervous like we hadn’t been here before.
“Stop looking at me like that,” I said, as I slid in between her legs. It was like she was in a trance, until I entered her and her body jerked slightly, as she tightened her grip on my arms. I leaned in for a kiss, because the look on her face was about to make me do some shit I hadn’t done since I was a teenager, and I wasn’t about to go that route and go out like that, so I closed my eyes and tried to focus.
Once I was inside her soft, warm cave, she whispered my name and I almost lost it again. Fuck, get your shit together Theory. Rain’s legs wrapped around my waist and I felt her ankles cross behind my back. I lifted my head just enough to see her face, and her eyes were closed, but she was biting her bottom lip like it was going to help her control what she was felling.
I had something for that. I thrust in her so deep that her eyes popped open. I could tell that she wasn’t used to what I was giving because of the look on her face, and that made me go harder. I had something to prove. I was about to erase every memory she had with any other nigga she had been with, so that all she knew was me and how I made her feel. I was putting my signature on her shit from the inside out.
“Thee, hold on.” Rain’s voice and her hands against my body snapped me out of my head, and I looked down at her and smile.
“The fuck you mean hold on? Shit, forget that, I’ve been holding on for six years Rain. Now move your damn hands before I really go in on your ass,” I said with a smirk.
She just laughed but still tried to control my movement, so I hit her with a stroke so deep I was likely going to need stitches, because of the depth that her nails dug into my back.
That was all she wrote. I was officially on a mission and there wasn’t shit she could do about it.

When I woke up the next morning, Theory was next to me asleep. He was on his on his stomach with his face buried in a folded arm, while the other was tucked under his pillow. I moved closer to him, and traced my name on his left shoulder blade with my finger and smiled.
Things just felt right; after all these years, I was finally home again. Theory was home to me. I moved my body to the side of the bed, looking back over my shoulder, and Theory didn’t budge. So I stood, grabbed my t-shirt and made my way to the hall bathroom.
Because I was pulling my t-shirt over my head, I didn’t see Diamond and damn near ran into her, but she grabbed my arms to stop our collision.
“Oh hey, when did you get here?” I asked.
She had a big ass grin on her face as she pointed at me and then my room. “You would know if you weren’t so busy making up for lost time,” she said.
I just laughed. “Whatever.” I leaned against the wall and turned my head slightly, looking towards my room before I focused on Diamond again.
“I just got here. So I guess things are good?” Diamond nodded towards my room.
“Real good.”
“Well, don’t forget we have a shoot at 1:00 today so I’ll leave you to it.” She shook her head and then disappeared into her room, shutting the door behind her.
By the time I finished in the bathroom, Theory was up, standing by my bed and on the phone, so I walked in and went straight to my closet, while listening to his conversation. I would hope that he wasn’t so disrespectful that he would have the nerve to be talking to another female but, you never know.
“Yeah, we’re good on that, but ain't shit changed, I want out. It’s time, but we’ll discuss it later. I’m not home right now, but I will be in about an hour. I’ll hit you when I get there. Aight, bet.”
I grabbed pair of jeans and a baseball tee, and tossed them on my bed. Theory tossed his phone on the bed, walked up to me with a sexy ass smirk, and wrapped his arms around me before he kissed me on my neck.
“I wasn’t talking to another female with your nosy ass,” he said after he let me go and walked over to the dresser. He grabbed his shirt and pulled it over his head.
“I didn’t say you were,” I said, and rolled my eyes after he grabbed his Timbs and sat on the side of the bed to put them on.
“You didn’t have to say shit, the expression on your face did, and I could tell your nosy ass was listening to my conversation.”
Theory didn’t bother looking at me because he was looking down at his boots.
“I was not listing to your conversation, and you can talk to whoever you want, just not when you’re with me.”
“Oh yeah,” he said now on his feet again. He adjusted his belt, picked up his phone off the bed, and his wallet and keys off my dresser.
“Yeah,” I said confidently. “I can’t tell you who you can talk to, Thee.”
“Shit, that’s on you, but I’m damn sure gonna tell you who you can talk to, trust that. So let me find out you hitting up other niggas and that’s your ass. Especially that muthafucka you were living with.”
I laughed, but he didn’t break his expression. He was serious and I knew it. “We don't even know what we are, so how can you dictate who I can talk to Thee?”
“I know what we are. That shit don’t need an explanation but this,” he pointed to me and then him, “…you and I are official now. I don’t fuck around with mine Rain, you already know.”
He closed the space between us and with one arm around my waist and the other between my legs, he kissed me on my forehead.
“Not that I need to explain shit to you because I don’t, but you’re mine. Always have been and always will be. You had your playtime but that shit is over, so fuck around if you want to and your gonna make someone lose their life because you don’t know how to act.”
Theory gently lifted my chin and looked into my eyes before his lips grazed mine.
“We good on that?” he asked with a seriousn
ess that I could feel in my soul.
I just nodded and smiled. I knew better than to object, and I didn't want to anyway.
With one last kiss on the forehead, he stepped away. “I’ve got some shit to handle but I’ll hit you in a little while. Pack some shit, we’re staying at my spot tonight.”
And without waiting for a response, he left me standing there.
I heard him say good morning to Diamond before the front door opened and then closed, and just like that, he was gone. This man was a piece of work but I loved everything about him.

“Your ass has been grinning all day. I’m just saying… dude’s dick game must be lethal,” Diamond said as I took my last shots. I felt my face get hot as I looked around to see if anyone else was paying attention and of course, Morgan’s assistant looked at me and grinned.
“Will you shut up? I really don’t want the world in my business,” I said cutting my eyes at Diamond.
“Girl please, nobody in here cares that you got some good dick last night.”
This time she kept her voice low, but it was too late because the focus was on us.
“I think I have what I need,” I said to Morgan, a new artist that was on Loyalty. She smiled and walked over to us, stopped and with a smug look she spoke.
“I knew something was up. This is my second shoot with you and you’re usually so serious. She’s right, you’ve been grinning like a five-year-old all day. But you did your thing, so I know my shots are going to be hella good. You’ll send them to the label, right?”
I just laughed. “Yeah girl, I got you. But I have your email address so I’ll send them to your assistant for you to review first.”
“Thanks Rain, but I know you got me so I’m not stressing over this shoot. Oh, and by the way, tell Mr. Wonderful to keep doing what he’s doing. I like this new you.” Morgan flashed me an award-winning smile before she took off en route to her trailer, with her assistant right behind her.
Diamond packed up her recorder and notebook while I bagged up my cameras. The studio guys started breaking down the set.
“So, looks like you guys figured things out?” Diamond said in a way that was more of a question than a statement.
I, of course, flashed all thirty-twos. “I don’t know if we exactly figured everything out or not, but we’re in a good place, I think. We still need to have a conversation though. I’ve been gone for six years. I don’t really know anything about him anymore.”
Diamond frowned. “What’s there to know, Rain? That man is fine as hell, obviously doing well for himself, he’s into you something serious so the rest is just details.”
“Yeah, I guess, but I think he’s into some things,” I said, thinking about how well Theory was living in combination with the fact that he carried and pulled a gun on someone. The streets had always been his home, but it seemed like he was in them a lot deeper than he used to be.
“Don’t overthink it. Just roll with it for now and whatever happens, happens. We doing lunch?” Diamond asked.
“Yeah, I’m good with that,” I said and tossed the strap to my camera bag over my shoulder.
Diamond and I loaded our things into her car since I left mine at the office, and headed downtown to one of her favorite spots but the moment we walked in the door, I was regretting it.
“Is that blue light special?” Diamond asked referring to how I referenced the chick that Mel cheated on me with, while pointing to a corner table the second we walked in.
“Yep, I’m not in the mood. Let’s just head somewhere else,” I said. I had no plans to deal with Jamel or his little tramp.
“Nah, fuck that boo. I want that trick to say something slick.” Diamond looked in their direction, just as Mel looked up and saw us.
The look on his face was priceless; it was a combination of oh shit and damn I fucked up which made me laugh. Honestly, I didn’t really care if he was with her or not. He wasn’t my problem anymore.
He watched us from the time we got to our table, not even trying to hide it, and I could see his hoe getting madder by the second. Even in my jeans and baseball tee, I was shutting it down and she knew it. Again, she had on a cheap suit and plastic shoes, too much makeup and a nappy weave that was two months past its expiration date.
“Damn Rain, she’s gonna end up slapping his ass if he don’t stop burning a hole through you.” Diamond glanced at their table again, while she sipped her tea and then leaned back. She reached in her pocket, pulled out a ten-dollar bill and laid it on the table.
“What’s that for?” I asked looking up at her confused.
“Ten dollars says he comes over here before we finish eating and another ten says you slap the ugly off her ass when she follows him,” Diamond said with a half grin which made me laugh.
“Stop, he better not bring his ass over here. There isn’t anything he can say and not because of Theory, but because he’s just disrespectful. If he was going to cheat, he could have at least picked somebody worth it. That right there is just sad.”
Diamond just laughed, and a few seconds later my phone went off, so I grabbed it out of my purse and smiled when I saw Theory’s name.
“Hey you?” I said trying to control the smile in my voice.
“Where are you?”
“At lunch with Diamond, why?”
“I just left your office and your car is here.”
“She drove; you should have called.”
“It’s cool, I’ll just see you tonight. Frank’s having some people over so if it’s cool with you, we’ll chill there for a minute before we head to my spot.”
“Yeah, that’s fine. Is it like a party, party or just a few friends?”
“Not really a party, we’ll just be chilling.”
I could see Diamond watching me.
“Okay, well I’ll call you when I’m leaving work.”
“Aight, bet. I’ve got a few runs to make anyway. Stay out of trouble. You never know when I’m watching,” Theory said and then chuckled.
“I think that applies more to you than me,” I said.
“You got eyes on me Autumn Rain?”
“You never know,” I replied.
“I’m out. I’ll hit you later.”
The second I ended my call, Diamond was grinning. “We going to a party later?” she asked.
“Not really a party. He said Frank was having some people over.”
“Dude from the club, I might need to tag along,” she said.
“What happened to Destiny? I thought you were trying to be faithful.”
“I was but she’s on some ‘move in with me’ type vibe. She’s cool but I need my space. I put the brakes on that for a minute,” Diamond said, looking down at her phone and then hitting ignore as a call came through.
“Was that her?” I pointed to Diamond’s phone.
“Yep, call number ten and counting,” Diamond said and rolled her yes.
I shook my head. “You need to-”
Diamond cut me off, “Here comes your boy.” She nodded her head and I looked back over my shoulder. I glanced at him and then his table, and didn’t see his little friend.
“Can we talk?” Jamel asked when he was close enough.
I looked up at him and then glanced at Diamond, who reached over and tapped her index finger on the ten-dollar bill that was still sitting on the table.
“Nah, I’m good on that; besides, I don’t think your company would appreciate that.
“Fuck her, she don’t mean shit, and you know that,” he said with a little too much aggression.
“Well then I guess that makes you two perfect for each other, because you don’t mean shit either.” I didn’t even bother to look up at him when I spoke, but my eyes caught his little hoe as she came storming from the back of the restaurant towards us.
“Really Mel,” she said and shoved him in the chest the second she was near our table.
“This bitch don’t want you but you still got your head up h
er ass,” she said pointing to me.
Mel turned to her grabbed her hand and with the most hateful stare he pulled her close. “Alex, go wait for me outside.”
“No, you fuck her!” She snatched away from him and was about to swing at me, but Diamond had a hand full of her hair and yanked her back before I could get on my feet. It was funny as hell, but I was too mad to laugh. Mel shoved me behind him to stop me from getting near her.
“I wish you would put your hands on her,” he said, pointing at his little tramp who was currently trying to free herself from Diamond, and I could see the manager heading towards us.
I stepped around Jamel so that we were face to face. “Don’t try to protect me and especially not for that.” I waved my hand towards his tramp who Diamond still had by the hair. “I got me, I’m not your concern anymore.”
I looked at Diamond, “Let her go. I wish her stupid ass would try to put her hands on me. I’m not the one,” I said and made sure I looked old girl right in her eyes.
Diamond smirked and let her go just as the manager made it to us. “Is there a problem?” she eyed all of us.
“Nah, we’re good. You ready Rain?” Diamond said and looked at me with a satisfied grin.
I reached in my pocket, pulled out a twenty and dropped it on the table. Diamond followed with another ten and then moved past Alex, making sure she made contact with her.
Jamel caught my wrist just as I was about to walk away. “We need to talk.”
I tried to yank my arm away, but he held on tight so I looked him right in the eye. “No, actually we don’t, and if you put your hands on me again, I promise it’s not going to go well for you.” I yanked away and this time he let me go.
Once we were in Diamond’s car, we both looked at each other and burst out laughing. “Did that really just happen?” I asked.
“Hell yeah it did.” Diamond started her car and pulled out into traffic before she raised her hand to her face. “That hoe needs to get that shit out her head, got my hand smelling like pure shit,” she said and frowned.
“Oh my God, did you really just say that?” I laughed so hard I almost couldn't breathe.
