Never Change

by Anne Carol

God, please be with me as I go back to school. It’d been seven years since I left North London University, and now I finally had a chance to finish my education. I was excited, yet nervous at the same time.

Life had evolved quite a bit over the past several months. I was grateful not only for the opportunity to be in one place for an indefinite period of time, but also to be back in California.

Time for me to start pursuing my dreams.

  ABOUT THE FAITHFULLY YOURS SERIES

There will be four books in the Faithfully Yours series, all four featuring Beth and David, as their love story takes many twists and turns over the two decades the series will span.

I set a precedent, starting with Never Let Go, of including a poem in the front matter of my books. Around the time I was planning this book, I received an e-mail from the non-profit organization, WriteGirl, about their Poetry Drive. The e-mail newsletter stated that if I made a donation to the organization, one of the girls being mentored would write a poem for me. First of all, I love any organization which supports young writers. Secondly, I love the idea of having an original, commissioned poem included in my book. The poem, Fortune’s Kind Fool, was written by Morgan Henderson, who was age 20 at the time she penned it. A huge thanks to Morgan for writing a beautiful poem specifically for Never Change. I believe the poem is the perfect “forward” to this third installment of Faithfully Yours.

WriteGirl is a Los Angeles-based creative writing and mentoring organization that spotlights the power of a girl and her pen. At WriteGirl, we match girls with women writers who mentor them in creative writing. WriteGirl is a thriving community with 200 volunteer women writers serving more than 500 girls annually. Every year, we produce dozens of workshops, panel discussions and special events to help girls get creative, get through high school and get to college! In fact, since 2001, 100% of our graduating seniors have entered college, many on full or partial scholarships.

All glory goes to God for giving me the inspiration to write this series. It was a rough road, but once I invited Him along on the journey, everything came together nicely.

Thank you to my husband, Ron, and our two sons, Justin and Jacob, for giving me quiet time, grace, and even inspiration for certain parts of this story! Boys, I pray you someday understand what it means to have your dreams fulfilled, at the same time glorifying the One who blessed you with your gifts.

Writers of the ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers) Community, I am so happy I found you in the vast “playground” of Facebook. Your advice, encouragement, friendship, and prayers are greatly appreciated!

To Jennifer Roberts-Hall, I don’t know what I would do without your awesome editing skills! What can I say? I would be lost without your guidance, suggestions, and quirky comments. Thank you for helping shape my disjointed manuscript into a compelling page-turner!

Regina Wamba of Mae I Design, I have had numerous compliments on the covers you photographed and designed for this series. The way you tailored each cover to fit the book description is amazing!

A big thanks goes to E.M. Tippetts Book Designs for turning my Word document into a beautiful book interior!

Bloggers/readers: thank you for cherishing books and for honoring authors with your support, good words, shout-outs, and reviews! As long as you keep reading, we will keep writing.

Anne Carol grew up reading, writing, and listening to English rock bands, obsessing over one in particular. Continuing her fascination with musicians, she married a bass player, with whom she has two sons, both blessed with the music gene. Besides reading, writing, and music, Anne also loves traveling, visiting with friends, watching Netflix, and daydreaming on Pinterest. A native of Northern California, she occasionally indulges in good red wine and a square of dark chocolate.

I couldn’t write a rock star-themed story without including an awesome playlist, comprised of a variety of music. It’s the longest playlist (so far) of my Faithfully Yours series. A lot of thought went into choosing these songs, as they closely follow the plot of the book, (and some are mentioned in the book). Many of them reflect the tone and era (1983-1985), but you’ll notice there are some throwbacks as well. I hope—since you chose to read this series—this means you are a music lover. If so, look me up on Spotify, where I have all my playlists! Enjoy listening along as you read the third installment of Beth and David’s love story.
