“We should have been more careful,” Grant said. “You are not alone in this, and it’s not your fault. We’re all grown-ups, and we got so caught up in the magic and excitement of it all that we lost track of things. It happens. We aren’t the first, and we won’t be the last. The important thing is that you take care of yourself and know that I am not going anywhere. I am right here.”

  “Thank you,” I said, sniffling.

“Of course.” He looked over at the door as someone knocked. “Hold on, okay? I’m in office hours. I’ll get rid of them.”

“No, don’t. Just ask them to wait one minute,” I said, taking in a deep breath.

“Hey,” he said, sticking his head out of the door. “Give me a few moments. I’m with another student.”

He closed the door and walked back over to sit down next to me. I picked up my bag and made sure I had everything. I needed to go home, take some time, and really think about everything. I wiped the tears from my face and fluffed my hair, trying to look presentable when I left. Before he could say a word, I stood up and walked to the door, opening it just slightly and turning back to him.

“Thanks for all your help professor,” I said with a fake enthusiasm in my voice.

I looked down to hide my puffy eyes and held the door for the next student. I walked down the hall, flinching at the sound of the door shutting behind me. I was really starting to hate being at that school. Too much had happened in such a short amount of time. I walked out the side door, not wanting to be seen by the press since I had been crying. They were all standing around outside, but the president and police were gone. I crossed over into the parking lot and pulled out my keys.

Once I was in the car, I turned it on and hit the heat, trying to warm it up. I was shaking from the cold and from the idea that my life had been turned upside down in an instant. Immediately, I started crying, looking around to make sure that no one could see me. I put my forehead down on the steering wheel and let the waves of emotion take over. Everything was a disaster, and I had no idea how to fix it.

  Chapter 27

  Grant

I stood in the clearing, looking around me, wondering how I got there. The grass was green, and the air was warm as I walked toward the sounds coming through the mist. As it cleared, I saw Kylie’s face, smiling over at me, her body writhing in passion as she rode Ben hard. Her tits bounced up and down almost in slow motion as Ben grabbed tightly to her waist. The sun showed slightly through the clouds illuminating the large stone table that Ben was lying on. Kylie closed her eyes and licked her lips, throwing her head pack in passion as her body moved up and down, and her hips twisted like waves.

The dew had clung to her sweet, pale skin, and her eyes were dark with lust. She cried out, grabbing tightly to Ben’s chest as she slammed down on him over and over again. I looked down, and I was naked, my cock standing at attention. I grabbed my shaft and started to stroke it, feeling the ecstasy of the scene flowing through me. I wanted Kylie more than I had ever wanted anyone in my life. She looked up at me and smiled again, calling me over with her song of lust. I stepped forward through the soft grass and up to the table, watching as she reached out and grabbed my dick.

She leaned forward and brushed her painted red lips across the mushroom tip before opening wide and swallowing my erection. I groaned, feeling the warmth of her mouth slide down to the base and then back out again. She gripped tightly with her hand and followed her mouth up and down tirelessly, groaning and moaning with a full mouth. I could hear Ben slap her ass, watching as she rolled her eyes over in her head, the heat inside of her getting stronger. I reached forward and pulled her back down on my dick, pushing her face forward and back again.

It felt so good, so hot, and so erotic, and I couldn’t stop pulling her down deep on me. She sucked hard in the back of her throat as she pulled up, smiling and looking up into my eyes. I groaned and closed my eyes tightly, leaning my head back. After a few moments, though, I no longer felt her lips around my shaft. I lowered my hand down but found empty space. I stepped back and opened my eyes, wondering where she had gone.

Ben had disappeared, and sitting up on her knees, rubbing her clit was Kylie, nearly nine months pregnant with a large, round belly. She screamed out in pleasure as she twisted her fingers through her pussy, smacking her clit lightly and bouncing her knees up and down. She opened her eyes and stared into mine.

“Wake up and fuck me,” she whispered.

My eyes shot open, and I looked around, realizing I was in my bed and it had all been a dream. I breathed heavily, getting the shock of waking suddenly out of my chest. I rolled over on my back and groaned, reaching down and feeling my hard cock. It was rock-solid and pulsing, and it was almost painful to touch. I wondered how long I had been in that dream, lying there in the dark with a boner. I reached into my pants and freed it from the restraints of my boxers, rubbing my hand down the shaft and calming the nerves.

I knew I couldn’t go on without release, so I pulled the blankets back and closed my eyes, imagining Kylie in my head. We were in my apartment out on the terrace looking out over the stars. Ben was sitting in the chair, and Kylie was standing in front of both of us, wearing nothing but a sheer robe, her tits perky. The wind blew her hair around as she untied her robe and let it fall to the floor. I grabbed her and spun her around toward the railing, pulling her hair back and pressing my lips against her neck. She let out a high-pitched moan.

“Fuck me,” she begged. “I’ve been a bad girl.”

I bent her over the edge and grabbed her hips, sliding my cock through her juices and into her warm pussy. She gripped tightly to the railing, screaming out as my cock pushed deep inside and then back out again. I slapped her ass hard, watching it jiggle up and down as I thrust forward, pushing myself closer to orgasm. I gripped tightly to her and started to pound hard and fast, listening to her moaning, feeling her body beginning to flinch. Before she could orgasm, though, I pulled out and spun her toward Ben, pushing her down on her knees.

I lowered myself down behind her and lifted her ass in the air, circling my thumb around her hole as I pushed my shaft into her pussy. She groaned and looked up at Ben, smiling mischievously as she lowered her head and opened her mouth. Ben groaned, pushing her head down his cock, watching her as her body tightened with my thrusts. I gripped her waist firmly and started to pound, not wasting any precious time. Over and over again, my big cock slid through her juices, filling her up and then releasing her. She screamed out, lifting her head and stroking Ben’s cock with her hand.

I growled, feeling her body tighten in my grasp, watching her jack Ben off as I slammed my dick into her. She leaned her head and arched her back, her body beginning to shake wildly. Her pussy contracted around my erection, and I groaned, pushing in deep and releasing, an orgasm flowing erratically through my veins.

I squeezed hard on my cock, feeling the hot streams of come shooting out onto my stomach. I lay there stroking it until every last drop was out. My arm fell to the side, and I leaned my head against the pillow, opening my eyes to an empty room. Disappointment hit my chest as my alarm blared loudly in my ear. I slammed my hand down on it and climbed out of bed and into the shower. As the hot water ran down my body, I leaned my hand against the wall, closing my eyes and wishing that Kylie and Ben were there with me. Everything had gotten completely out of hand, and I felt like I had to do something about it.

I got out of the shower and got ready, putting on a nice suit, doing my hair, and grabbing a cup of coffee before heading out. The drive to work was messy since it had snowed the night before, but when I finally got there, I wished I was back in my bed. There was nothing fun about dealing with that situation, but I knew I had to. I parked the car and headed into the building, dropping my stuff off in my office and checking my messages. When I was done, I locked my office door and headed over to Ben’s classroom. I walked in and closed the doors behind me, making sure there were no students already there. As I walked down the ste
ps he looked up at me and sighed, shaking his head.

“Look, Grant, I don’t really have time for this today,” he said, already knowing why I was there.

“You’re going to make time,” I said, getting to the bottom. “You’ve been ignoring me and Kylie for days now, and it’s not okay.”

“What do you want me to do? I told you I needed time.” He started stacking his papers.

“I sat in my office yesterday listening to Kylie ball her eyes out,” I said. “She needs time too, but this is happening to her body, so she doesn’t have the luxury of taking a time-out and hiding away from everyone. There is nowhere she can turn that will make this go away for even a second so she can catch her breath. But then, you’re over here taking all the time you need, ignoring your best friend, the girl you care about, and all for what? Your career? It doesn’t make any sense to me.”

“You aren’t me,” he yelled out.

Silence fell over the auditorium as we stood there staring at each other. It was obvious he was incredibly upset. I knew that, but that didn’t mean he could continue to act this way. I didn’t know what to do or say to fix this, but I felt it was my responsibility to do so. I broke our gaze and looked down at the floor, pushing my hands into my pockets.

“She told me she’s in love with both of us,” I said calmly. “Your time-out, or whatever this is, is fucking everything up. She wants both of us, not just one of us. She wants a family for this child.”

“I don’t know if I can give her that,” he said shaking his head. “Selfish or not, this is my life, and I have the ability to make the choices I think are best.”

“Best for who? For Kylie? For this baby? Or are they the choices that are best for you?” I was upset but trying to hold back. “At some point, you’re going to have to come to terms with this, Ben. You’re right. It is your life, but I know you better than that. The Ben who’s my best friend looks out for the welfare of others before himself. He wears his heart on his sleeve and cares deeply for others. This Ben, this person I don’t recognize, is acting like a monster, and he is affecting everyone around him in a negative way. What you’re doing is not fair. It is not fair to me, to Kylie, to that child, or to you. You’re fighting with your own morality. I know you. You want to ignore your gut, the part of you that says you have to be with Kylie, you have to be a man, you have to help raise this baby. I’m asking you to stop ignoring that gut and step up.”

I stood there staring at Ben as he continued to set up for his class. I could see in his face that he was struggling with what to say next. He was struggling with his own brain to make the right decision.

  “Ben,” I said loudly.

“I have a class starting soon,” he said, nodding his head up and down. “I need you to leave.”

  “Are you sure about that?”

“Yeah,” he said, looking up into my eyes.

“Whatever.” I chuckled, turning to the stairs. “Grow some balls. You seem to have lost yours somewhere along the way.”

I walked back up the stairs and out the door, nodding at some students waiting to enter. I couldn’t believe I’d had that conversation with him, that I couldn’t get him to see how selfish he was being. I couldn’t believe that my own best friend had given up on his morals, his ethics, and his heart all because of his career. I knew Kylie would be asking about him soon, and I didn’t know what to tell her. My thoughts that he would come around at some point were starting to seem less and less likely.

I wanted him to give in to his instincts, to be the man I knew he was, but I couldn’t force him. All I could do at that point was worry about myself and Kylie. I would do my best to be there for her and the baby, and if Ben came back around, then it would be up to her where we went from there.

  Chapter 28

  Kylie

The last place I felt like being was work, but I had to be there. Life was still moving forward whether I wanted it to or not. My mind was going nuts, but at least I was there with Piper, able to talk about some of it. We were cleaning up from the morning rush, trying to get ready for the lunch crowd that would come over from the college during the break. It was a big rush, but it was fast, most people only having twenty to thirty minutes between classes. At that point, though, it was completely empty in the place, which was nice since Piper had so many questions for me. I had gotten a text from Grant telling me to have a good day, but I hadn’t heard a peep from Ben, which made my heart hurt every time I thought about it.

“So, I went on a date the other day,” she said, smiling. “He’s actually a really nice guy for once.”

“Really? Does he go to the school?”

“No,” she said. “He’s a bit older than me, divorced with a child. He’s a podiatrist in town. We met here when I was working on some edits in the corner, and he sat next to me. He was clammy and nervous, and I found it deadly adorable. He took me out to this nice little restaurant across town, brought me flowers, talked for hours, and then took me home. I kissed him goodnight and that was that. He didn’t try to sleep with me, didn’t talk about any other women, and our conversation centered around adult things. It was super refreshing.”

“Are you going to see him again?”

“Yeah,” she said smiling, wrapping up a tray. “He asked me to go to the movies with him on Saturday. His daughter will be with her mom, and he said we can go see the Christmas lights afterward in the park.”

“That sounds like fun,” I said, smiling.

“So how are you feeling? Mentally and physically?” she asked.

“Physically, I am doing okay,” I said. “My morning sickness has gotten a little bit stronger, and I’ve been craving squash for some reason, but as far as that goes, I have been really lucky.”

  “And mentally?”

“I don’t know.” I looked down at the bagels I was wrapping. “I’m okay with the pregnancy. I’m okay with the sickness. The whole dean and provost thing still has me wrapped in a knot, and every time I end up in that hallway, I feel almost traumatized by it, but I think it will pass.”

“You should talk to someone about it,” she said. “The school is offering support, right?”

“Yeah, I mean they are, but I don’t really want to,” I said. “I talk to Grant about it, and that makes me feel better. Other than that, I’m just happy that it’s almost winter break, and I can get some more sleep.”

“You are a sleeping monster.” She laughed. “But it’s to be expected. Do you need anything? I’m here for whatever you need.”

“And I love you so much for that,” I said, smiling. “I just need support, you know? This right here, you taking the time to ask me how I feel. Quiet time where there are no cases to solve or presidents to hide from. I just want to feel normal again and stop constantly waking up with anxiety attacks.”

“I hate those. I used to get them all the time,” she said, frowning. “Have you made your appointment at the doctor?”

“Actually, I went yesterday,” I said. “I wanted to experience the first one on my own, so I didn’t get nervous, so I went by myself. Everything looks good so far.”

“Good,” she said. “Have you decided what you want to do?”

“Yeah,” I said, clapping my hands together. “I think I knew it all along. I want to keep the baby.”

“That’s super exciting,” Piper said enthusiastically. “I can’t wait to be an aunt. Well, not technically an aunt.”

  “Close enough.”

“We can go shopping together and talk about boys, or girls, depending.” She laughed.

“I have gotten pregnant with my best friend’s new best friend,” I laughed.

“We should go out soon and peruse all the adorable baby stuff,” she said. “It will get you excited about all of this and get your mind off everything else. I want you to be excited because it is a really big deal, and you are going to be an amazing mommy.”

“Thank you.” I hugged her. “And I am excited. I just have to get my personal li
fe straightened out, and I will be golden. I graduate in May, and the baby isn’t due until July, so the school stuff is all squared away.”

“That’s like perfect timing,” Piper said.

“I know, right? I have enough money saved up to take off after graduation until a month after the baby is born,” I said. “Hopefully by then, I’ll have a position to slide right into.”

“I know you will,” she replied.

“I’ve already been talking to a firm in Boston about a position,” I said. “They were impressed with my internship and my resume. They don’t know about the baby, but they’ve been hunting me down, so I don’t think it will be an issue at all. I’m hoping they’re the ones.”

“Well, you always have this place if not, and you can bring my bestie with you,” she laughed. “So how are the guys handling all of this? Are they excited?”

“Grant has been like a dream come true,” I said. “He’s always there, checks up on me, listens to me when my hormones get the best of me, and talks about the future with me and the baby. Ben, on the other hand, has been the complete opposite. He freaked out. I mean totally shut down and ran. He’s still there, but getting him to talk to me or Grant has become impossible.”

“Is it normal guy fear stuff?”

“I think it’s his career, honestly,” I said with a sigh. “I think he’s afraid to settle down and have a baby because of his career goals.”

“Well, he needs to wake the hell up because you don’t have that choice and neither does he,” she said angrily. “I hate men like that.”

“He’s a good guy, I swear,” I said. “I think that the baby coupled with the sexual assault thing at the school has really thrown him for a loop. On top of that, he wasn’t even sure he was going to have a career before we caught the dean and provost in the act. There was a good chance he and Grant were both going to be fired, and I was going to be expelled.”
