Marked in a Vision Page 2

by Mary Goldberger

Emily just shook her head as Sasha said, “I have seen you dressed up, and I know for a fact that several men checked you out that night. Although I have to admit, though, after you kneed that man in his crotch, they decided to just look; not approach.”

Emily scowled as she remembered, “So I have this thing about men touching me. If I tell a person no, and they decide I was playing hard to get than they deserve whatever they got coming to them.”

“What,” their father growled, and Sasha grimaced as Emily laughed.

Their mother was quick to intervene, “You are excused. Please be careful going to the mall” as she placed a hand on her husbands arm.

Mark glanced at Jay as he felt him tense while they were talking, and he saw the look in his eyes.

Calm down Jay. They were talking about what happened in the past, he said to him as he started his breakfast although he watched the girls leave from the corner of his eye.

I know, but still… Jay replied not finishing the sentence, and Mark knew that he watched the two young women leave too.

“I would like to go to the mall too,” a voice purred, and they both looked at the black haired girl, Sissy, who flipped her hair over her shoulder giving them a sly grin

“I would like to go too,” Krystal said, the blond hair girl. The last one whose name was Susan, said quietly, “I really do not feel well” before getting up and leaving the room in a rush.

Cass said without missing a beat, “What don’t you take them all to the mall? The SUV should be big enough for all them, don’t you think Stacy?” Stacy nodded her head as she drunk her coffee looking at the pleased expressions on the other parents’ faces except for Susan’s who had rushed other their daughter, and she mentally shook her head. She did not miss the gleam that entered both Jay and Mark’s eyes at the idea, and she frowned to herself.

Sasha and Emily, not knowing of the altered plans, had went back upstairs to grab a light coat, and then headed out the door to their parents vehicle.

“Damn,” Sasha said as they came out the door.

“You were the one who said not to tell them about what happened that night,” Emily reminded her, and Sasha glared at her. They were not really paying attention to anything else, or they would have seen Mark and Jay leaning against the SUV standing in the driveway with Sissy and Krystal.

“You do not have to remind me of that, Emily,” Sasha replied in a low growl, but Emily just shrugged. Then she looked up and her eyes widened. Sasha noticing her reaction, looked over to see the others standing there.

“We wanted to go to the mall, too,” one of the women replied with a hardening of her dark blue eyes.

Mark opened the back door to the SUV, “We should all be able to fit in here.”

  Sasha muttered, “Damn.”

Emily whispered, “Yeah, what are we anorexic?”

“Heard that,” Jay said loudly, and Mark replied, “Every word.”

“By the way,” Mark said as they walked to the SUV looking at Emily, “I am Mark and this is my brother, Jay.”

Emily blushed, but Sasha met Mark’s eyes with a determined light whereas Emily just got into the vehicle not looking at Jay. Jay hid his smile as Sasha climbed in after her, and he closed the door. He got into the passenger seat as Mark was driving.

“It is a little tight,” the black haired woman, Sissy, complained.

Emily rolled her eyes, and with an “excuse me”, she climbed into the back of the SUV.

She sighed, “Leg room” that Sasha laughed, and climbed over the back seat herself.

“We use to do this all the time when we were younger,” Sasha said to Emily.

Emily laughed, “Of course, it was the only way to travel when we went on those long road trips that mom and dad like to take us.”

Sasha sat back with a sigh as she asked, “So what would you like for your 19th birthday?”

Jay and Mark listening from the front seat looked at each other before tuning back into the conversation although Sissy and Krystal hampered it as they started talking to them.

“What would you like for your 21st birthday?” Emily responded back.

Sasha frowned, “I asked you first” but Emily just smiled and crossed her arms over her chest.

The rest of the drive was done with Sissy and Krystal chatting and flirting with Jay and Mark. Pulling into the mall parking lot, Mark and Jay got out helping the women. Sasha and Emily opened the back door, and hopped out before either one of them could help them.

“Let us go,” Mark said with a scowl. Jay nodded his head as Sissy latched onto his arm, and the other one decided to latch onto Mark. They all walked into the mall, and they all stopped to decide where they wanted to go.

“Bookstore,” Emily said before walking in that direction.

“Victoria Secret,” the other three girls said, and Sasha called out, “See ya later, Emily” who waved in acknowledgement.

Mark and Jay both looked at each other as Mark said, “Jay why don’t you go with them to Victoria Secret, and I…”

Jay interrupted, “I have to go to the bookstore, too, so I will go with Emily while you go with the other ladies” laughing as he saw Mark’s look before walking away after Emily.

He caught up with her in the bookstore near the paperback romance section.

“I do not understand how you can read this stuff,” he said taking the book from her hand that she was looking at. She looked at him in surprise and then she said, “I don’t often read them. I was just seeing if it had a good plot.”

Jay looked at the cover before asking, “If it had a good plot, what would you have done?”

Emily thought for a moment then grinned, “I would have cheated, and read the last chapter to see how it ended.”

Jay looked up from the book in astonishment, and he laughed when he saw the grin on her face.

He shook his head at her as she laughed at him. Emily glanced at him as he placed the book back on the shelf, and she liked the amused smile that played around his mouth. Then she froze when he looked at her from green eyes so much like the ones in her vision last night; the green eyes that in her vision held such concern and love for her. What did it mean, Emily asked herself as she noticed Jay was looking at her oddly.

“Are you all right, Emily?” Jay asked reaching out to touch her shoulder, but he hesitated before his hand could touch her.

Emily saw his hesitation, and she smiled, “I am okay, just thinking about something.”

He nodded his head as he placed his hand flat against his thigh, not realizing that Emily watched his hand and to her, it looked like he was trying to rub away the feel of her from his hand although he had not touched her.

Then Jay asked suddenly as she was about to move away, “When is your birthday?”

Emily looked at him in confusion before she responded, “My birthday is on the 20th of next month where as Sasha’s is on the 18th. Why do you ask, Jay?”

“Just curious,” was his response and she looked at him again in confusion before she shook her head, and turned towards another section.

Her vision, she thought to herself as she moved to the section of books and noticed Jay walking away to another section, she must be seeing it through the eyes of someone he truly cares about. She sighed to herself in sadness, because the look he gives this person would be something that many would die for, and she wondered whose eyes she was seeing him with. Occasionally in her visions, she would see from the eyes of an intended victim instead of as the bystander although those visions meant that something bad was going to happen. She would have to pay more attention from now on.

Ten minutes later, Jay walked back up to Emily, “Are you ready to go, Emily?”

She nodded her head as she put down the book she was looking at, and with one last look at it, she started heading for the front of the
store. Jay looked at the book she was looking and frowned as he read the title Visions: Are they real or imagination. He caught up with her as she exited the store, and her phone rung as he reached her.

“Hello,” she said turning to look at him as he reached her.

“We are leaving Victoria Secret, and we want ice cream,” Sasha said without any pleasantries.

“Sounds good to me,” Emily said before telling Jay, “They want ice cream.”

Jay could not help but chuckle as he nodded his head although his mind was still on the book she had been looking at.

She frowned and mouthed to him “Ice Cream Zone”, and at his nod, she told Sasha, “We will meet you there. Bye”

Hanging up the phone, Emily said, “They go shopping for lingerie now they want ice cream. Man, I do not know how they do it.”

Jay laughed but he ran his eyes over her body, and he admitted to himself, he liked what he saw. He hesitated for a second then asked, “Why were looking at that book about visions? Are you interested in stuff like that?”

He watched as Emily froze for a second, then she continued walking as she answered, “It interests me very much, Jay.” It was the only thing she said to him about it and he let it drop for now.

A few minutes later, they met up with the others at the “Ice Cream Zone” where Sasha had already ordered Emily an ice cream sundae.

Emily’s eyes lit up as she said sat down next to her, “Thank you” before digging into the dessert.

Jay came back with a chocolate cone, and sat down next to Emily.

“Found anything interesting, Emily,” Sissy asked.

“Or did you just make out with Jay,” the bleach-blond, Krystal taunted.

“Nope,” Emily just remarked before digging her spoon into her sundae.

The others looked at her in confusion as Sasha giggled, but she took a quick look at Jay to notice the look of amusement on his face. Interesting, Sasha thought to herself, and then Mark caught her eye. She blushed and turned her attention back to her ice cream.

“Hi, Jay,” a seductive voice said, and all eyes turned to a beautiful woman. Emily noticed that she ignored the rest of them as her pale green eyes stared at Jay with lust in her eyes.

Emily shivered for a second as she felt a cold chill go across her skin, and Sasha glanced at her with concerned eyes although Emily did not realize it.

  Chapter 3

Sasha sensed right away that the newcomer was another werewolf, full blood just as they were. She looked over at Emily who had lowered her eyes after she spoke, and she knew that Emily sensed something about the woman. She frowned as she looked around the group, but her gaze landed on Jay and Mark. Mark was sneering at her, and Jay’s face was impassive although his eyes held a look of shock before he blanked them.

Jay had tensed at the sound of her voice but when he turned to look at her, he realized in shock that she did not affect him as she usually did.

“Hello, Victoria,” he said politely, and Emily started to choke on her ice cream.

“Sorry,” she said getting her breathe back as Sasha looked at her with concern again, and when she caught her eye, she saw the amusement there. Then her concern look turned into confusion but Emily just shook her head.

Victoria looked down at the woman and from her scent, she could tell she was human, and Victoria dismissed her as unimportant.

“I heard that your father had decided to help you find your mate,” Victoria said laughing; “Didn’t you tell him that you had already find your mate?”

Mark asked with dislike, “Now why would he do that?”

“Oh, Mark,” she said sweetly, “didn’t your brother tell you that I was his mate, but I didn’t know until it was too late.”

Mark snorted, and Jay said, “How is your mate, Victoria?”

She frowned at him then said with sadness, “He is not you, and I am thinking about breaking our mating.”

Jay looked at her in shock for a moment until he really looked at her, and realized she had no attention of breaking her mating with the soon-to-be Alpha of the Rain Cloud Pack.

“Yeah, I will believe that when I see it,” Mark said snidely, and then he got up, “Are you ladies ready to go?”

Sasha was quick to get to her feet, “I am. What about you, Emily?” Emily took the last bite of her sundae, and pulling the trash together on her tray she stood up.

“Ready,” she said walking away to throw away their trash. The other two girls got up and as Jay stood up, they latched on to him fast giving Victoria a glare.

She just smiled, and threw her naturally blond hair over her shoulder.

“See ya later, Jay,” she called with wink as they walked out of the mall.

Getting back to the pack house, Emily and Sasha were the first through the door as the others followed more slowly. At dinner that night, Cass asked, “So how was the visit to the mall?”

“Fine,” was the general reply, until Krystal said, “We met Victoria. We were not told that Jay already had a mate, and that she had been mated to another first.”

The silence in the room was deafening, and then Sasha turned to Emily, “By the way, what was the joke?”

Emily looked at her for a moment then she said with humor, “Oh, that, I had just made a comment to Jay before meeting you about how you just were at Victoria Secrets, and then wanted ice cream. It just struck me as ironic that we met a Victoria not even twenty minutes after you left Victoria Secrets,” she shrugged her shoulders, “For some reason, I combined the two, and to be honest I thought it sounded really silly for some reason.” She frowned to herself, as she muttered, “I really need to get some sleep.”

Sasha saw her mom and dad looking at her with concern before Jay’s father began to explain the misconception of Victoria.

Again, that night, Emily woke up in a cold sweat as her vision came upon her. The same thing, a dark forest, someone chasing her, an evil laugh and then green eyes that were drawing her in with their concern and love. She hugged her knees to herself as she sat quietly trying not to wake up Sasha; she did not understand what it all meant, but the visions were getting intense. She needed to find out what was going on, her mind immediately flashed to the little girl Michaela, and she frowned as she lay back on her bed. Now, why would her mind go to that little girl? Is she why are visions were coming so urgently?

  Chapter 4

A few mornings later, after breakfast, Emily headed outside by herself because Mark had stopped Sasha as she left the table. She smiled to herself because she saw the blush that covered Sasha’s cheeks and how her eyes flared with emotion.

“Emily,” a voice said before running up to her. Emily looked down to see Michaela and her kitten, Angel.

“Hello, Michaela, what are you two up to today?” she asked as she smiled at them.

Michaela smiled before grabbing her hand and pulling her farther into the backyard, and Emily laughed as she allowed herself to be pulled along.

Jay was in the gym that his dad had converted for him and Mark so they could have a place to workout.

“Hi handsome,” a voice purred and Jay turned around to look at Sissy who was dressed in a two-piece bikini.

“Hi, Sissy,” he said as he went back to the pouching bag in front of him. As his dad always told him and Mark, just because they were werewolves did not mean that they should not learn to fight in their human form. Learning to fight in their human form also helped their wolf to enhance the abilities that they already had.

“I was planning on going for a swim,” she said sashaying across the room, “would you like to join me?”

“Sounds like fun to me,” another voice said from the doorway, and Jay glanced up with a scowl at another interruption to see Sasha standing there with a frown on her face as Mark stood behind her with a smirk.

  “We should invite Kr
ystal and your sister to join us? By the way, where is your sister, Emily, right?” Mark asked as she turned around and glared furiously at him. Jay turned back to the punching bag to hide his smile, and Sissy noticing it smiled smugly as she realized one more out of the running as his mate.

“Yes, her name is Emily,” Sasha growled at him, “and she is playing with Michaela right now.”

Jay punched the bag one last time and said, “Let us all go for a swim then. Sasha, why don’t you see if Emily could bring Michaela back for a swim?” He walked over to get the towel so he could wipe off the sweat when Sissy handed him the towel with a flirty look as she let her hand linger on his bicep.

“Thank you,” he muttered as he moved his arm away from her as he lifted it to wipe himself with the towel. Nothing, he thought to himself. He did not feel a damn thing when she touched him or latched on to him, but just a bump from a human girl, and his body clenched in desire. He would never understand it, but he liked the idea of going swimming for he would get to see Emily in a bathing suit.

Jay he heard as Mark laughed at him.

You are the same way. You want to see Sasha in a bathing suit too that is why you suggested it he countered as he grabbed his water bottle and met his brother’s eyes.

Guilty was his response as Jay watched him turn his golden eyes inherited from their father onto his mate who was ignoring him.

Sasha knew he was looking at her but she was ignoring him. She sighed soundlessly, and then said, “I will go find Emily and Michaela.” At their confused looks, she smirked, “Emily is not a werewolf so I cannot just link to her like I can my mother and father.” She gave them a smug look before she walked out of the gym. She headed for the backyard where she saw Emily going before Mark stopped her, and she frowned. Every time she was around him, she felt her wolf chanting to her and she wanted to give in but she was afraid. Of what, she was not entirely sure because finding your mate was supposed to be great, and yet she was scared. She needed to talk to Emily and she smiled as she saw her ahead with Michaela. In the last few days, they had been hanging out with Michaela as the males went about their business.
