Marked in a Vision Page 3

by Mary Goldberger

“Hi Sasha,” Michaela called as she saw her and she came running up to her with Emily behind her.

“Hi Michaela, how are you doing today?” she asked the little girl.

Michaela nodded her head as she said, “You came to play with us.”

“How about we go swimming? Jay and Mark thought it would be refreshing if we went for a swim,” Sasha suggested and watched Michaela’s eyes widen in delight.

“All right,” she cried as she run inside calling, “I am going to go change into my suit.” Sasha and Emily laughed as they watched her and they followed her slowly inside.

“What is wrong, Sasha?” Emily asked after a few seconds of silence. Sasha sighed and started to explain her situation with Mark. Emily did not interrupt just listened as they made it to their room where she sat down on her bed and Sasha started looking for her bathing suit.

“Second drawer from the bottom,” Emily said after noticing her frown as she stopped talking. Sasha threw a “thank you” over her shoulder as she pulled it out.

“Sasha, do you like him at all, and I am not talking about your wolf?” Emily asked and Sasha looked at her with confused eyes. She thought about what Emily was asking her, and she admitted honestly, “I do not know. I know my wolf goes crazy every time he is around me, but as for my feelings I really do not know.”

Emily nodded her head as she got off the bed to pick up the mess that she was making as she changed into her bathing suit, “Your wolf wants him as she knows he is her mate, but why don’t you get to know him? I mean, it is not going to hurt you and besides, I thought the whole thing about mates was that you belong together. Eventually you two will come together because that is your destiny but why not let destiny take its course and you get to know the man you are suppose to share the rest of your life with?”

Sasha turned around and looked at her as she finished picking up the clothes. Emily always underestimated herself for she was a smart young woman and very talented in her gift although she kept it close to herself only a few people knew about it.

Sasha smiled as she picked up a towel, “I will think about what you said,” Then she frowned, as Emily had not changed into her bathing suit, “Are you not going swimming?” Emily shook her head as she said after she yawned, “I think I am going to take a nap.” Sasha saw the tiredness in her eyes and she nodded her head as she gave her a hug, “Get some rest.”

She headed down to the pool where the rest were swimming and playing.

She noticed that Jay looked behind her when she entered and she smiled to herself at the disappointment she saw in his eyes.

“Where is Emily?” Michaela asked as she floated up next to Jay.

“She is taking a nap, Michaela,” she said before diving into the pool.

“Is she okay?” Michaela asked as soon as she popped from underneath the water. She smiled as she pushed her red hair out of face, “Do not worry Michaela, she is fine.” Michaela nodded her head as she swam off but Jay eyes narrowed on Sasha’s face and she read the concern and worry there.

“What are you not telling us?” he asked softly, and Sasha threw him a quick look of surprise. She would have answered him too if Sissy had not swam up to them at that moment, wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing her body to his as she asked with a touch of anger, “What are you two talking about?”

Sasha looked her then back at Jay, “Nothing” and she swam off towards Mark and Michaela. She watched as Mark’s eyes widen with delight as she came closer and she felt herself melt under his look. Emily you were right, she thought to herself, getting to know him would be the best for both of us.

In their room, Emily had laid down after Sasha left and her eyes closed immediately. Before long though she was tossing and turning as the vision came upon her, and she stiffened in fear at what she was seeing.

The man looked at her with cold black eyes, and she felt herself shiver as Michaela clutched her in fear.

“Who are you? What do you want from us?” she asked bravely although her voice shook and she knew he heard it as he smirked at her.

“Well, first, I like having my grandchild home. Welcome Michaela,” he said although there was no true welcome in his voice. “In secondly, you will help me to gain everything I want while training my granddaughter how to use her gift” She saw his black eyes light with madness, and she knew that whatever they did would never be enough to satisfy him.

“No,” Michaela cried as she clutched onto her. The man’s cold eyes landed on her and boomed, “You will do as I say, child.” Michaela shook in fear and Emily looked at him with brown eyes that had dimmed in fear, “We cannot help you. Our gifts do not work on command or orders,” she said and before she knew it, he was across the room in front of her. With one swipe of his hand, he backhanded her into the wall and she groaned at the impact. “You will do as I say,” he growled then to the man standing to the side, “Take my granddaughter away while I chat with this one.”

“Emily,” she heard Michaela crying but she was in so much pain from that one hit, and she started blacking out as she heard him say furiously, “Humans are so weak.” The last thing she saw before she completely blacked out was a pair of green eyes filled with so many emotions that she could not decipher them all but they were all for her, she was sure of that before the blackness claimed her.

Emily shot up in bed as the vision left her, and she took a quick look around her room as she curled her legs into her. The tears slid down on her cheeks as she went over her dream. What was happening to her? That was different then the other ones where it seems like she, or someone, is running through a forest. Then she latched onto certain aspects of the vision as she frowned. In the vision, the man kept calling Michaela is granddaughter although he looked maybe a few years older than Jay and Mark’s father did. For a moment, Emily replayed the scene the night they first arrived and she remembered Michaela saying clearly, “Uncle Jay, and Uncle Mark”.

Emily got up quickly from her bed and went to take a shower. A few minutes later dressed in a pair of black jeans and a blue sweater, her brown hair hanging down her back, and her leather jacket in her arms she went in search of her mom and dad. She needed to get out of the house for awhile and going to the local library would be helpful to her. She found her mom in the sunroom and her dad had gone out with Alpha Stan.

“Mom, can I borrow the car for awhile?” she asked and Stacy looked at her youngest daughter in concern. She could see the black circles underneath her eyes and knew that she had not been sleeping properly.

“Sure,” she said handing her the keys that she kept in her pocket, “Is there anything wrong?” Emily smiled at her as she got to her feet. “Nothing, mom,” she said giving her a kiss on the cheek as she said goodbye heading out the door.

A few hours later, everyone was sitting in the living room when Emily came through the door with a notebook and a few other things in her hands.

“Where did you go?” Sasha called out as Emily passed the living room entrance. Emily had to back up and she sighed wearily.

“I went to the library,” she answered honestly. They all looked at her in confusion as Sissy and Krystal laughed.

Sasha was about to say something when she noticed Emily swaying on her feet.

“Emily,” she called jumping to her feet and rushing over.

“Sorry,” Emily said blinking at her with tired eyes.

Sasha just shook her head as she placed an arm around her shoulders and turned her around before saying over their shoulders, “I am going to help her upstairs. She really needs to get some sleep.”

“You are not kidding,” Jay heard Emily mumble before they were out of sight.

“There must be something wrong with that girl for she is constantly sleeping,” Sissy said with a hint of sarcasm. Cass looked at Stacy and Jacob, and saw the worry in their faces. She frowned for she had a fe
eling they were not telling them something important about Emily but her attention averted when Sissy said, “Jay, how about taking me out to dinner tonight?”

Jay thinking about Emily, said, “Why don’t we all go? What do you think, Dad?”

Stan was quick to give his approval and they made plans to go out to dinner. When it was time to go though, Stacy said, “Emily is still sleeping and I rather stay here to keep an eye on her.” Sissy and Krystal giggled in glee as the others nodded their heads. Jay was the last to leave and he asked before walking out, “Is Emily okay, ma’am?”

Stacy looked at him for a moment before she answered, “She is fine, Jay, you go and enjoy yourself.”

Jay nodded his head but as he walked to the vehicle that Mark and him was riding in with Sasha and the other women; he knew that he was not going to enjoy himself.

Stacy went back upstairs to peek in on Emily and she found her tossing and turning in bed. Stacy did not know what do for her as she watched her go through another vision. She settled down finally after a few minutes, and Stacy backed out slowly closing the door quietly. Emily snuggled deeper into her pillow as she focused on her secret place; a field of flowers with the sun shining brightly but something was different about it this time. In the distance she could see the shadow of man and as he came closer his green eyes flashed with love and concern. She felt as if they were telling her Look at me, only at me; I will be here for you as he continued working closer to her although he was still just a shadow, but she felt safe with him.

She took comfort in her dream man with the green eyes, and she finally drifted off to a peaceful sleep without visions or dreams for the first time in days.

  Chapter 5

Two weeks later, Emily and Sasha were sitting on the porch when Jay and Mark came out of the house. They reached down and pulled them to their feet.

“Hey,” Sasha said with a frown as Emily just looked at Jay in confusion. His hand wrapped around her upper arm, but what confused her were the sensations she was getting from it. Her arm felt like it had been stuck in an electric socket although it was not an unpleasant shock, she opened her mouth to ask him what was going on when he turned to her, and she felt herself fall into his green eyes forgetting what she was going to ask.

Jay had felt her confused gaze on him and he knew she felt the sensations the same as he did. He turned to look at her as she opened her mouth and then she froze. He met her beautiful brown eyes, and he was leaning down to her when he heard the door open behind him. He released her arm as soon as the door opened, and he watched as she blinked her eyes snapping herself out of her daze. Damn, he thought to himself as he saw the caution enter her eyes.

“What is going on?” Sissy asked as she strolled over, and Krystal was right behind her although by now Krystal knew that she did not stand a chance with either man for Sissy occupied Jay’s time and Mark was completely into Sasha.

“Nothing,” Jay said as he turned to them, “we were thinking of going to the fair that is in town.”

“Fair,” both Emily and Sasha said in excitement.

“Fair,” Sissy and Krystal said in disbelief. Jay nodded his head at them, and then said, “Who would like to go?”

Emily and Sasha chorused, “We would” as Sissy scowled and Krystal walked away shaking her head, mumbling, “How boring.”

Sissy was about to say something when her phone rung and her eyes glittered with excitement as she said before answering, “Go to the boring Fair. I have a much better offer right now.” She answered with a relish looking towards Jay to see if he was jealous and when she heard him say, “Well, have fun, Sissy” she walked off in a huff.

“Are you guys really taking us to the Fair?” Sasha demanded and Mark laughed throwing an arm around her shoulders.

“Yes, now you ladies go grab a jacket. It is suppose to get a little chilly tonight,” Jay advised and they nodded their heads as they ran into the house.

They were out a few minutes later, and they all got into Jay’s mustang as they headed out.

They walked onto the Fair grounds about twenty minutes later, and they looked around in delight.

“This place is packed,” Emily said, as she looked at all the people moving around them for they were standing still deciding what to do first.

“It is a Fair, Emily,” Sasha said laughing, and Emily stuck out her tongue that caused Sasha to laugh even harder.

Mark grabbed Sasha’s hand as he noticed how her laugh was getting attention from the men walking by and Jay did not even think twice but grabbed Emily’s hand. Emily felt the same sensations as before but she enjoyed them so instead of worrying about it tonight, she was going to enjoy herself. She folded her hand into his and gave him a smile as Sasha said, “I want to try that first”. Emily turned to look where Sasha pointed and Jay had to let out the breathe that he held when she turned to smile at him.

“Well,” he said huskily, “what are we waiting for? Let’s go.” Mark looked at him quizzically as he caught the huskiness of his voice but all Jay did was shift his eyes towards Emily and he understood.

“Let’s go,” he agreed and each holding the hands of their mates they headed to the first ride.

  Three hours later

Emily sat down on the bench seat next to Sasha as they waited for their men with the food.

“This is so much fun,” Sasha said dreamily, and Emily had to agree as she thought about everything they did for the last few hours. She shook her head softly at her thoughts for Jay had been the perfect gentlemen and Emily was enjoying this time with him although she was still a little cautious.

She hesitated for a moment before she said, “Sasha, what does it feel like when Mark holds your hand?”

Sasha looked at her quickly and she knew that Emily was starting to catch on as Sasha already had inkling that her sister was Jay’s mate. Before she could say anything, Jay and Mark walked up with the food.

“Here you ladies go,” Mark said as he handed them their drinks while Jay put down their food. Sasha watched as Emily shook off her question for the moment and started to eat. They had just finished and were sitting there talking when someone interrupted.

“Hi there again,” Victoria purred and they all looked towards her. Sasha felt Emily tense next to her on the bench as Jay said, “Hi, Victoria, Arnold.” Looking behind her, Emily saw an average looking male about Jay and Mark’s age. He looked at Sasha and Emily, and smirked as he said, “Jay, how are you doing? Who are your NEW friends?” Sasha narrowed her eyes at him as she understood what he was really saying but before anyone could say anything Emily spoke up.

“I always find it funny when that happens as if I do not understand what is going on.” Emily looked at him with her brown eyes and said honestly, “Yes, I am human.” She got up to walk away when she froze as the vision came upon her.

She saw the running people as they all started screaming and she saw the figure of a huge wolf running across the ground towards them. She heard Jay and Mark growl low in their throats as Sasha grabbed her arm. He stopped a few feet from them, and Emily swore that he smiled before he took off shooting pass them. She thought she heard a growl come from the wolf and the word “soon” floated through the air.

  What was that all about?

“Emily,” Sasha said standing next to her. Emily looked at her and said one word, “Trouble.” Then the screaming began and Sasha grabbed Emily’s arm as Jay and Mark walked over to them in confusion. They stood on opposite sides of them as a wolf, the wolf from her vision, came running across the ground. Victoria and Arnold stood there as the wolf came closer and Emily saw his eyes, the same eyes in her vision, as the wolf growled at them. Jay and Mark growled low in their throats and the wolf shot pass them. Emily could feel Sasha’s grip tighten on her arm.

“Well, that was strange,” Victoria, said with a laugh that was a little forced as Arnold just
nodded his head.

“From your pack, Arnold,” Jay asked as he used extra senses to listen to the wolf in the distance.

“Not from mine; how about yours?” he asked indifferently although there was concern in his voice.

Jay shook his head, as Mark said, “Not from our pack.”

Victoria looked over at them and she started to laugh as she noticed Emily. Her brown eyes were huge in her face, and her face was pale.

“I think your human friend is scared to death,” Arnold said as he noticed what Victoria was laughing at, but the joke was on her when Jay quickly turned to Emily and placed a hand on her arm.

“Emily, are you okay?” he asked softly, and Emily looked at him in confusion before she understood what he was saying.

“Fine,” she whispered then she said, “Can we go home, please?”

Sasha said quickly, “Yes, sis, we can. Mark, Jay is that okay?”

“It is fine, Sasha,” Mark said. Jay nodded his head as Sasha asked, “Jay, can you help her while I grab our jackets?” He nodded his head as he slid an arm around her waist while Sasha let her arm go. Emily leaned into him as he did so, and Mark noticed Victoria’s frown before she smiled confidently.

“Emily, that is your name right, you should be feeling good about Jay being your protector,” she said, and there was a note of superiority in her voice.

“Victoria,” Arnold called, and she made sure to pass by Jay letting her body come into contact with him. She sauntered towards Arnold confident that by the light touch of her body, Jay was watching her and not thinking about the little human next to him. She never looked around as she hooked arms with Arnold, or she would have realized that her little play had no effect for Jay’s focused was entirely on Emily.
