Walking on My Grave

Page 23

by Carolyn Hart

Sufficiency for one is deprivation for another.

A cheater never knows the satisfaction of earning a win.

The prize isn’t power, wealth, or privilege. The prize is love, which can’t be forced, bought, or inherited.

A dog loves you because you are you.

  Laughter lifts hearts.

  It never hurts to ask.

Life is a cancan so kick as high as you can.

Everyone is important or no one is important.

  Be kind.

In rattlesnake country, watch where you step.

  Each person has a story.

A faraway train whistle tugs at our hearts.

A cat on politics: Nonsense will only be tolerated if seasoned with catnip.

A dog on politics: Will vote for bone.

  Life is hard for everyone.

Is it true? Is it fair? Is it honest?

Listen for the distant laughter of angels.

Look for the saints among us.

God’s gifts to us: a sunrise, the scent of the sea, snowflakes, a smile.

On a cold, gray day, imagine a July afternoon and the feel of sand beneath your feet as you walk on the beach.

  Always wonder why.

If an elephant’s in the way, find another path.

  Of course there are unicorns.

A seashell is like a memory. The life is gone. The beauty remains.

  Smile first.
