"You carried me all the way down?"

"Only to my car. I'd have called the air ambulance for you but they'd never have found you in the fog. How are you feeling?"

"Better," I mutter, snuggling in to him. I look down and realise his hand is still resting on my thigh. It feels warm and comforting. It shouldn't feel like that, not with me naked but for a coat, trapped in a strange car with a strange man.

But he doesn't feel like a stranger. "Are you still cold?" he asks, his other hand on my cheek, feeling my skin. "You feel cold."

"I'm warming up," I reply, looking into his eyes. I hadn't noticed how deep blue his eyes are.

"Here," he says, taking off his coat and putting it on top of me, doubling up my layers. "This'll help."

With his coat off I can see him better. Moving my fingers, I can feel his bicep. It feels big. Very big. He looks down at me and I snuggle closer to him. Even though I'm getting too hot in the pair of coats, I don't say so, I don't want to have to move away from him. It's been a long time since I've felt a man's warmth against me.

"What made you go up there on a day like this?" he asks. "The forecast said it would turn."

"I was calling in on my way somewhere."

"Just thought you'd climb a mountain on the way?"

"It was to remember my mum. We used to climb up here together when I was little."

  "Oh, is she not..."

"She died," I finish the sentence for him.

  "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry."

I shrug. "It's all right. I thought I'd remember her by climbing it for one last time. I can't even get that right."

  "Where were you headed?"

  "Puddleston, do you know it?"

  "It's where I live."

  "Really, whereabouts?"

"The far end, by the pond."

"Oh wow. I grew up at Rose Cottage, just down from there."

  "Small world."

  "Small world," I echo back.

"I thought you were just another idiot tourist from the city."

  "And now?"

  "Well, now you're a local."

"Have I gone up in your estimation?"

"You were already pretty high. Then you got naked."

"Did that send me up or down?" Am I flirting? I think I'm flirting. Do I even remember how?

"Oh, all the way to the top of the mountain."

Flirting won't do me any harm. It's not like he's going to do anything to me. I'm a shivering wreck with my hair glued to my forehead. I bet I look a mess.

I blink slowly, biting my bottom lip and telling myself it's to see if its coming back to life.

"You look cute when you do that," he says.

I keep doing it, blinking up at him, only too aware of his hand still on my thigh. It's a strong hand, it could do so many good things to me.

I want him to. I want to forget about everything and just let him. "I'm still cold," I say, opening the coat a little and pressing my chest to his, my nipples already hardening. I catch him glancing down.

"I can think of a way to warm you up," he says, his hand moving up my thigh.

"Oh, can you?" I say, looking up, his face an inch from mine. "And what might that be?"

"This," he says, his lips pressing against mine.

  Chapter Four - Jack

Her lips are cold at first but they soon warm up. My hands slide around her back, under the jacket, feeling the softness of her skin, the way she melts under my touch.

She tastes so fucking good. My tongue dips into her mouth as she presses herself against me, her body drawing me in, her eyes tightly closed, like she's still asleep.

She looks different to how I saw her up the mountain. When I reached the summit and she wasn't there, I didn't panic, though I did start to worry. There were a lot of sheer edges she could fall down in the fog, a lot of spots where she might get lost, freeze to death if she were to bang her head and pass out.

In the end it was easier than I expected. She called out and I headed towards the noise. Simple as that. After a couple of minutes, I saw a footprint in the mud, then another and then there she was, laid on her back, looking like she was already dead.

Her eyes were closed, her skin pale, her lips almost blue. I got my coat around her and carried her on my shoulders, jogging down the slope as fast as I could.

Once she was in the car and I had the heating on full, she soon stirred. On the slope she had looked dead, in the car she had looked dangerously cold but now, now her eyes were closed again but she looks warm, she looks at peace, she looks hot as hell, the way she twists her limbs around me, I want her more than anything and nothing is going to stop me.

The way she kisses me is like a dream, like she knows it isn't real so she doesn't need to hold back, she can let go, just enjoy the moment.

She's too good for me. She's too beautiful, too gentle, like a butterfly trying to survive in a hailstorm. I'm not gentle, I'm rough, I'm hard, I'm the hail, I'll just break her soft wings. But I can't resist her.

She arches her head back and I kiss her neck. "You warming up?" I ask.

She mutters her assent. I bring my hand to the back of her head and grab hold of her, kissing her again, needing to taste the inside of her mouth, wanting that scent of hers as close as I can get it.

"Touch me," she mouths when I let her take a breath. "Please."

"Not still pissed off with me?" I smirk.

"No," she says, sighing loudly, pushing the coat from her shoulders. "Not anymore."

"I might be about to make more noise," I say, reaching out and finding her nipples, circling them slowly, making her moan as they harden. "Or maybe you will."

Leaning down I take the left bud into my mouth, just briefly, long enough to make her gasp. Then I go back to kissing her neck, teasing her, taking my time, knowing it'll be worth it when I finally move lower.

She leans over and touches the front of my trousers, her fingers hooking into the waistband, brushing the top of my boxers. "Is that for me?" she asks, her hand moving down to feel how hard I am. Even through the fabric, she is enough to make me twitch and throb.

I move her onto all fours on the seat, wanting to see that ass of hers, find out if it looks as good as I thought it would.

  It does.

She pushes her hips back as I rub her back, my eyes fixed on the view between her legs. She's already wet, her folds glistening. I don't touch there yet. Instead I stroke her thighs, tease her until she growls, putting her head down on the seat, urging me on.

"You look incredible," I say as I cup her buttocks gently.

"I bet you say that to all the girls you get in your car."

  "Nope. Just you."

"I'm covered in mud, Jack, I know I don't look incredible."

"Yes you do," I say, sliding a finger between her legs for the briefest of seconds. My cock throbs harder in response, wanting to be in her.

I reach round her, kneeling behind her hips, finding her tits, squeezing them as I kiss her back, my cock pressing against her ass, desperate to be out of my trousers.

I shuffle backwards, leaning against the car door as I lean down, my face an inch from her pussy. She moves her knees apart and I stare hungrily at her, my tongue running over my lips. "Do you taste as sweet as you look?" I ask.

"Why don't you find out," she says, her voice muffled as her face is buried in the seat.

I leave her like that, pulling off my clothes, not easy in the confined space. I toss each item I remove into the back space, shoving my equipment away, making room for me to lean down without a struggle.

She glances back, her eyes widening as she looks at my hard on. "Is that for me?" she asks, her face faux innocent.

"When I say so," I reply, stroking it slowly, enjoying her staring. I shuffle towards her on my knees, running it between her buttocks, kissing her back again. She wriggles against me but I'm not ready for that yet. I want to tease her first.

I run my hands down her back, her skin is burning
hot, so different to when I carried her. Back then she felt like ice. Now she's alert and well and aching for me. "You feeling better?" I ask, my hand on the top of her thigh.

"That's too big a question," she replies. "Ask me again later."

She looks away as I twist her onto her back, shoving her legs apart, lowering my head towards her pussy, loving how wet she looks, how fucking sexy she is. She looks incredible. I can't believe how lucky I am. I think things can't get any better. Then I taste her.

  Chapter Five - Carrie

I had forgotten just how good it felt. His tongue knows me like he's always known me, like he's got a direct line to my brain and my clit. He moves over each fold of my pussy, dipping into me, lapping at my wetness, diving hungrily inside, making me cry out with a moan that has been buried in me for years.

"Oh my God," I mutter as he flicks over my clit. "Don't ever stop."

He reaches up and lightly swats my breast. "I'm in charge here," he says, deliberately stopping.

"That's fine with me," I reply, running my hands through his hair, pushing my hips up towards him. He continues. I melt.

I can't believe I'm here. A few minutes ago I was lost, in more ways than one. Now he's bringing me to climax faster than I thought possible. Already my muscles are twitching in anticipation.

His hands are all over me, soon settling between my legs. His fingers hold me open, stroking around my clit, teasing me, his tongue still dipping deep into me. Then he swaps and I'm torn. His finger feels divine as it slides into me but it just makes me want his cock all the more.

When he slides down to my ass, I don't shove him away. His tongue feels too good, it flicks around my hole before returning to my clit, leaving me aching for more, for him to be in both holes, to fill me completely. I want it all. I'm greedy to come, lost in lust, wanting to forget everything but the moment.

I don't even care that I don't know him, that we're naked in the open where anyone might peer in and see us. All I care about is his tongue is about to tip me over the edge.

I scream, clawing at him as my body starts to shake. He dips into me a last time and then I lose it, muttering obscenities I don't even recognise as I come for the first time in I don't know how long. How had I forgotten how good this feels?

"I have to fuck you," he says, moving up, looking me right in the eyes. "I can't wait any longer."

"Do it," I say, grinding against him, my climax still fading, my muscles seeking something to grip against. "Fuck me."

"Are you...?" His eyebrows raise slightly.

  I nod. "The pill."

He grins. "That's good because I don't have..."

"Just get in me," I groan. I can't last another second without him in me.

He kisses me, my own sweetness on his tongue as he reaches down, the red hot tip of him sliding over my clit.

It moves down and with a push, the first inch of him is in me. It hurts for the briefest of seconds, he's that big. Then I widen enough for him to move further and with a single motion he's all the way in me.

My mouth falls open, I can't take it, he's too much. Then I can. I'm in heaven.

He pulls back and then buries himself again, this time grinding in place, his pelvis rubbing against my clit in just the right way.

We rock together, totally in sync, the first time it's been like this for me. My nipples tingle as his chest rubs against me. He lifts his head, staring at me as he pulls back, smiling at my shocked gasp each time he slams deep.

"Fuck, that feels good," he says, glancing down at my pussy.

I look down too, seeing him vanish into me, feeling it fit perfectly in a way that drives me wild.

He picks up speed and I reach down to ease the burning need in my clit. As I stroke it, he thrusts deep and I come again, this time my body rewarded by him, my pussy contracting around him, wanting to draw him even deeper in.

The only sound is our laboured breathing as I know he's getting close, his cheeks turning red, his eyes widening.

I close my eyes, revelling in the feeling of him pulsating in me. I hear him groan and then I feel it. He comes. It feels so fucking good to feel that hotness in me, knowing I made this muscle bound God of a man come just using my body. I made him do it. I'm not the wreck I thought I was, I'm still desirable.

The bad feelings come back as he slides out of me. Reality returns with a vengeance. I'm still about to lose my house. I'm still broke. I'm just a fuck to a man like him. There's no way he'd want anything more. He's some outdoor loner, not the settling down type. The thought makes me sad.

I sigh, my thoughts heavy. To ignore them I focus on listening to his breathing and before I know it, I'm asleep again.

This time I wake up to movement. The car is bumping down the mountain track. He's driving slowly. I look at him. He's dressed. My clothes are next to me. He can't wait to get rid of me, I can just tell.

I dress with shaking fingers, not wanting this to end. He pulls into the car park a few minutes later, glancing over his shoulder at me for the first time. "Which is your chariot, my lady?"

"The rusty old grey thing in the corner."

  "Then we have arrived."

"Oh." I know I should go but I can't do it. I just sit there.

"Listen," he says, twisting in his seat. "I know this might sound strange but I'd like to see you again."

I open my mouth to speak but he holds up a hand.

"In a second. Just let me say this. I know you probably thought that was a one off and that's fine if that's all you want but I get the feeling you felt what I felt and...and well I want to see you again."

"You do?" I can't believe it.

"I've never felt like this," he says, a smile spreading across his face. "Since the moment I saw you, I've had this feeling, here." He touches his chest.

"I bet you say that to all the girls." I'm trying to protect myself, knowing he's only letting me down gently.

"What are you scared of?" he asks.

  "So many things," I reply.

"Well I might be able to help with some of them, if you'll let me in, Carrie."

Just the sound of my name in his warm voice sends a shiver through me. "You really want to see me again?"

"I want to see a lot more of you. I like you, Carrie."

"But you don't even know me."

"I know you're called Carrie, you taste sweeter than honey, and you have a grey car."

"You don't want to know anything else?"

  "I'll find out in time."

  "Will you indeed?"

"What about me? Reckon you can put up with the company of a noisy bearded mountain man who brandishes a chainsaw everywhere he goes?"

I smile and sigh. It's a ridiculous thought. He can't mean it. I'm reading too much into things. "I better go," I say.

  "I shall escort my lady."

We both climb out of the car. I can't look at him. It hurts to think he's teasing me. He can't mean it. I know he can't. Why would he want me? He could have literally anyone looking like that. I only have to close my eyes to see those muscles again, those strong arms that held me so tight. I know he doesn't want me but that doesn't stop me wishing it was true, wishing he did.

  Chapter Six - Jack

She gathers up the papers as soon as she's in the car but she's not quick enough. I only see a few words but it's all I need. Eviction. That's the word that matters. Was that why she looked so stressed when I first saw her? Was that why she took her anger out on me?

I'd be stressed too if I was on the verge of losing my place. It was hard to imagine not living at the farm any longer. I'd been lucky in many ways, having it passed down to me by my father. That was the main reason I never moved away. I felt I owed it to him and the land to stay, to be guardian for another generation.

I had, in a few dark moments, wondered what would happen after I went. There was no one left to inherit if I didn't have kids and there was no sign of that happening.

She starts the engine and a thought occurs to
me. What would it be like to have children with Carrie?

It's a crazy thought when I've only known her a couple of hours but I can't shake it.

I tap on her window as she's about to drive away. "Give me a ring sometime," I say, passing her a business card from my pocket.

She nods, taking the card without a word, the pile of papers in her lap.

She looks guilty, as if she has something to be ashamed of. She can't help being evicted. But maybe I can.

She drives away, leaving me standing in the car park.

I climb back behind the wheel and turn along the same road as her. I turn off after a mile, the fog starting to lift a little as I climb towards the moor top. On the other side is the village but I turn again before I reach it, stopping when my phone rings. I can't help but be disappointed when I see it isn't Carrie.

"Are you on your way?" Alison asks.

"I'd be there quicker if you didn't keep ringing me."

  "Just checking, Mr Memory Man."

I hang up and set off again, getting to the office an hour later. It shouldn't have taken that long but the fog meant I couldn't drive above thirty for most of the way. It only thinned when I was a couple of miles away, leaving me able to see the car park was full. She really had got the whole team in.

I head inside, pausing to check my phone. No call from Carrie. I was obsessing. It hadn't been long enough to start obsessing. What was it about her that meant I couldn't get her out of my head? I'd never felt this way before. It was a whole new set of feelings to get used to. Her absence weighed heavy on me despite the fact that this time yesterday, I hadn't known she existed.

Alison is in the office with a single light on at her desk, the rest of the place in darkness. "Saving electricity?" I ask.

She looks up and in the same moment, someone flicks a light on. The place comes to life, a room filled with people, all of them simultaneously shouting, "Surprise!"
