Bound to Me

“Little subby, all is forgiven. We do crazy things for our loved ones,” he said in a gentle voice. “Jack, what’s the damage?”
“Shallow cuts, one deeper, she’s scared as hell. We’ll let the hospital check her out.” The men shared a look. They didn’t want to think about the fact that Stone had been naked on the bed with Kat.
“He didn’t do anything else. I woke up after he punched me, undressed and tied to that bed. He talked to me about all the things we would do, then just started cutting me. He said Marla brought me to his attention and that he killed her so I could be his and only his. Do you think that was true, Jack? I know she didn’t like me, but this? This I can’t wrap my mind around anyone wishing this on another person over a job.”
Jack knew it was true, but Kat didn’t need to worry about anyone but herself right now. “Doesn’t matter, you, my dear, are going to the hospital.” Jack had to yell to be heard over the incoming sirens. Men in blue were jumping out of patrol cars with guns drawn racing toward them. Would this hellish night never end? Picking her up out of the seat, he pulled her close.
“Jack, I love you.”
“I love you too. But don’t think I’ve forgotten you put yourself in danger, Katherine. You are in so much trouble when you’re all healed.” Jack smiled as the threat caused Kat to chuckle softly and snuggle closer.
“Yes, Sir,” she whispered. She kissed him lightly on his neck as he walked her toward the paramedics rushing the car.
Epilogue
Jack was impressed at how quickly progress was going on the new office building. It had only been six months since he’d started the ball rolling and already some of his staff was in place working.
“Admiring your plans?” Jack smiled at that much-loved voice.
“Indeed, Kat dear, indeed.” Hauling her around, he kissed her deeply. It still rattled him how close he’d come to losing this precious gift. If Lonnie hadn’t been there to break him out, if Connie hadn’t Lo-Jacked her car, if, if, if. Too many fucking if’s for his peace of mind. She’d had nightmares for months, had awakened screaming her head off, crying for him. The dreams had been coming less and less in the last few weeks. She’d slept through the night for the first time just last night. He’d even talked her into seeing a therapist.
Stone’s trial was scheduled for the following week. The attorney said the odds of Kat having to take the stand were slim. It seemed Stone had been leaving broken bodies lying around for a decade or more. When they’d ran his DNA the attorney said it had been like pulling a lever on a slot machine so many lights had lit up. Over a dozen unsolved brutal murders and his DNA had been found at all the scenes. The cocky bastard hadn’t tried to destroy any evidence because of his standing in the community. He thought, and rightfully so, suspicion would never fall on him. Jack was hoping for the death penalty or at the least the rest of his life in prison. If there was any justice in the world some big guy named Tiny would make the prick his bitch. See how he liked having no control over the things done to him.
Jack made sure they were going to be on “business” in The Keys for at least a month. They were leaving tomorrow. He was fully aware Kat was humoring him and that he was only leaving Kentucky to avoid the trial and the memories that would come, too.
“Now that is a welcome, I’ll have to visit more often,” Kat said with a wink and a grin. She loved snuggling in Jack’s arms. He always made her feel safe and loved. It had been a rough few months for both of them. After the farmhouse, Jack hadn’t touched her for a month. When she’d make a move, he’d kiss her and made sweet love to her. She didn’t want vanilla, dammit, she wanted her Rocky Road. She’d reminded him of the punishment he’d promised. He’d smiled at her gently and told her they had plenty of time for that “type” of thing later, after she was fully healed. Screw that.
She’d wanted to bang her head against the wall. She had argued she was fine, and she had been. Well, sort of. Stone had affected her, but she refused to let the bastard take away something they both loved. After two months of being put off, she took matters into her own hands. She’d waited until Jack was sound asleep, then tied him to their bed. He’d been so mad. He’d hyper-rocketed into Alpha-sphere. Barking commands, issuing orders, bitching that he did not allow topping from the bottom. That “he knew what was best for her and that she wasn’t ready for D/s play again.” The resulting punishment had made it hard to sit for the day. The after, just thinking about the after, made Kat sigh. She finally had her big bad alpha back.
“I love you, Katherine. I think we should get married while we are in The Keys.”
“Was that a proposal? Because if it was we need to work on your grasp of actually asking for something.”
“A smart Dom knows when to ask, and when to tell, and it just so happens you got yourself one smart Dom, my lovely sub.”
“Well, when you put it like that, how can a girl refuse? Do you think we could get a Rocky Road wedding cake?”
Jack chuckled and squeezed her tighter to him. Life didn’t get any sweeter.
THE END
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Piper quietly slipped her first romance novel from a book shelf as an impressionable 11 year old and hasn't looked back since. Being born in Southern Kentucky, raised by a northern mother and a southern twang-talking father, created a hodgepodge of a personality. BDSM seemed a natural fit for a headstrong, mouthy chick, who values manners and maybe, might....ok, does, have some control issues. Writing has always been a dream and with the support of a bald, tattooed husband, Piper stopped reading and started putting thoughts to paper. A dash of suspense, a hearty helping of humor, and smoking hot romance makes the world go around.
