Roxane's entire mission in life is to help the women in her compound prepare themselves for a life of subjugation to the man a computer will someday match with them. When she finds herself teleported onto a space ship, she does what comes naturally to her. She flips the alien over her head and demands to be sent back to Earth.
Bnjmn has spent his entire life knowing he wanted a quiet, meek woman who would stay out of his way, but be available to take care of his needs. When he realizes his fated mate is a strong woman who can knock him on his backside, he is shocked, but willing to go where destiny takes him. Will Bnjmn be able to convince the strong Earth woman that her place is at his side? Or will he be required to let her choose her own mate, as per their bargain?

Chapter One
Roxanne looked out over the fifteen women she was training in self-defense. Technically, only people who were going into law enforcement were allowed to know any type of self-defense at all, but she believed every woman should be able to defend herself. As long as they kept it low key and away from the powers-that-be, she would be all right.
She led them through some simple moves like she'd learned in the classes she had attended, taught by some of the strongest women on the planet. Typically law enforcement was considered to be a job only for men, but she had shown a strong aptitude for it, so had been taught from a young age by a few other women who had shown the same aptitude. She was good enough at hand-to-hand combat to put most men on the planet on their backsides with very little effort.
The group of women she was currently teaching were attending her class, in a hidden corner of the compound. It was during the recreation period before the evening meal, and the women were all willing to give up their free time to make this happen. She went through several karate positions with them before giving a final bow.
One of the girls, a tiny little thing with dark hair and brown eyes who looked to be of Hispanic descent, came to her as the class broke up, and everyone went their separate ways. "Roxie, I'm scared. I got my match after supper last night."
Roxie closed her eyes for a moment. She hated the way the women were matched with total strangers. "When?" It was a simple question, but she knew Lacey would understand what she was asking. The computer found each woman a match, and they were given anywhere between ten days and two months notice.
"Ten days." Lacey's eyes were wide. She'd lived in the compound, surrounded only by other women since she was three. They all had. Some were able to glorify marriage in their minds, completely convinced it was all they needed in life. Some were afraid. Marriage to a stranger who was bigger than them and much stronger was not an easy thing to think about.
"You don't have much time!" Roxie frowned. "Do you want to start intense one-on-one classes?" She had been offering classes to anyone over eighteen for three years, but she always offered to accelerate to one-on-one classes as soon as the women were matched. The idea of a woman living with a man she didn't know when she couldn't defend herself frightened her.
"Yes, please. I was hoping you had an opening."
"I'll always make time for someone in need. Most of the girls here aren't interested in learning to defend themselves, and that's their right."
Lacey shook her head. "I can't see it. I feel like I've just lost every ounce of power I ever had over my own life. Of course, there was never much. I understand that the way we're doing things is supposed to make everyone equal in life, just as we'll be before God, but I don't feel safe."
Roxie nodded. "And you shouldn't. Meet me here right after chapel tonight. We'll do what we can to get you where you need to be."
"Thanks, Roxie. I don't know what I'd do without your help."
"You'd survive. It's our obligation to help one another as we go through life. Women should help women. No one should feel like they're powerless. Ever." Roxie frowned. Her own match should be coming soon, because she'd finished her training. She knew where she was going to work, but she hadn't been given the name of her future husband yet. In the meantime, she was trying to teach the other women to defend themselves. If she was caught, she didn't want to know what would happen to her.
"I'm not strong like you are."
"You will be." Because of Lacey's small stature, Roxie would teach her to fight deviously. She would know to go for the groin, and use her fingernails to gouge out eyes. There was no way she could fight fair, but Roxie was determined she'd be able to fight.
Lacey threw herself at Roxie, hugging her tightly. "I thank God every day that you're my friend." With those words the smaller girl turned and ran toward the dormitory where they both lived.
Roxie had an hour before supper, so she turned and headed toward the wooded area near the fence. There had been some strange things happening in the compound lately, and she was determined to make sense of them.
First, one of her friends, Lela, had disappeared. No trace. Lela hadn't been one of the women who attended Roxie's classes, despite knowing about them. She'd been content and willing to follow the rules and go her own way in life. At least it had seemed that way. Roxie would have suspected another woman had climbed the wall and run to make her own way in the world, but not Lela.
Then just a day later, aliens were spotted who took Maria and Carissa, and then had returned Carissa. That was the odd part. Carissa refused to talk about what had happened, just saying over and over that she'd not had relations with any of the aliens, omitting any information about Maria. Whatever had happened there, Roxie wanted to know.
Of course, Carissa had been quarantined from the rest of them, and forced to go through test after test to be certain she really was free from alien infection. Whatever had happened, Roxie knew things were changing. She just hoped the change would be positive and not negative. So many things that looked positive in the beginning turned negative in the end. The world leaders called what they'd done to the planet a utopia. Roxie didn't think that word applied in any way.
She got to the area of the woods where she knew Lela had often come to nap and daydream. She'd wanted desperately to design clothing for a living, but instead, she'd been assigned to learn counseling because of her aptitude test. The uniforms the women in the compound wore were quite similar to what people on the outside wore. No one had to worry about designing anything. The garments were meant to conceal, not look attractive.
Every time Roxie walked to this part of the woods, she was certain her friend would magically appear, and everything would be back to how it should
be, and every time she was disappointed. Had Lela been taken by aliens as well then? And what would an alien want with an Earth woman?
Something was happening, and Roxie felt it was her job to investigate. None of the people working in law enforcement had been there looking into the matter. Instead, they were all only interrogating poor Carissa.
She would keep looking. There had to be some way to find her friends.
*****
Bnjmn watched the screen where he was focused in on two women in an Earth compound. He'd had spent five days watching them, trying to decide which he wanted to keep for his own. The only problem was, the visuals didn't have sound. He could only see them, not hear them.
He'd always thought he'd want a quiet woman, one who spent her days reading and doing 'womanly things,' though he was never quite certain what those 'womanly things' would be. So, he watched a quiet red-head who spent her days sitting by a stream reading books after her daily activities within the compound.
He wasn't certain why he kept watching a tall blond woman who seemed to be in some kind of authority over the others. One moment she was breaking up a fight between women. The next she seemed to be teaching some sort of class that involved hand-to-hand combat. He was sure the red-head was what he wanted, but the blonde—well, she made his blood boil!
He knew the Earth compound was for girls and women. His sister-in-law had explained that boys and girls were sent to compounds for their own gender when they turned three. They went through extensive testing at that time, then were assigned a career that would need them, and would also fit their personalities and skills. After their training, a computer assigned them a mate, and they were married almost immediately after.
Lela had been happy to be kidnapped because she'd found her true mate, his brother Drrrl. She happily lived on Mcy with his brother now.
He looked back at the screen. It was split between the two women. He wished he could hear what they were saying, although at that point, neither was saying anything. The red-head was reading a book, as usual. He concentrated hard, trying to get her to feel the mind-touch he would have with his mate.
"Put down the book and stand up to stretch," he thought to her. He watched carefully as she continued reading, ignoring him completely—or more likely—not hearing him at all. He looked at the other image and the woman was stretching her arms above her head. He blinked twice. Was that from him? Or was she just stretching?
She was exactly the opposite of the type of woman he'd always thought he wanted, looking like she could wrestle a man to the ground easily. The thought made him grow hard. Was she his destined mate?
He concentrated. "Scratch your nose with your right hand."
Her hand came up to scratch her nose immediately.
"Rub the back of your neck with your left hand." Again she followed orders immediately.
She was his destined mate! He wasn't certain how he felt about it, but it really didn't matter. He needed her on his ship, in his bed, and in his life. That woman was about to be his.
He went to the teleportation station and pushed the necessary buttons, watching as she suddenly appeared before him.
Roxie stood still for a moment, looking around. Where was she? A giant of a man was in front of her, his legs spread in a relaxed stance, his hands on his hips. A slight smile was playing at his lips. Was he the one who had brought her here? He was handsome with dark hair and dark eyes. She was immediately drawn to him, though she felt like she shouldn't be.
"Who are you?"
"I'm your destined mate," Bnjmn said, feeling his body reacting strongly to her voice. "My brother is the captain of this ship, and he's standing by to marry us whenever you're ready."
"Marry? I'm not marrying some man I've never met. The computer didn't choose you for me!" Not that she'd care if it had. She'd never planned to go through with her computer-chosen marriage anyway. She'd survive in the wilds easily.
"No, a computer has not chosen you for me. The fates have. You are mine. My mate." He loved saying the words to her. He'd found not only a wife, but a mate!
"I'm not your mate or anyone else's. Put me right back where you found me. I can't help others from here." She looked around again, her intelligent gaze seeming to take in everything around her. "Where am I again?"
"You're on my ship. My name is Bnjmn, and I'm a warrior of the Warden race, from the planet Mcy."
"Well, I'm tired of being on your ship, Bnjmn, so please send me back to Earth where I belong. We're a closed planet, and poaching on the women from Earth is against interplanetary laws." Law was her specialty, and she'd learned as much about every law as she could—Earth and interplanetary.
He shrugged. "My family has been exiled from our home planet anyway. We couldn't be in a worse situation with the interplanetary police. Marry me."
She stared at him in shock. "Didn't you hear what I said? I want to return to Earth. Please put me right back where you found me, before anyone discovers that I'm missing." She didn't want to find herself going through the rigorous testing that poor Carissa was rumored to be going through. It wasn't her fault she'd been kidnapped by the aliens, and she knew it wasn't Carissa's either!
"You're my mate. I can prove it."
She frowned. "How in the name of heaven can you prove that I'm your mate?" She folded her arms across her chest, waiting to see what he would do next.
"I will demonstrate." He closed his eyes and thought a command. Walk to the man and kiss him.
"I don't want to kiss him!" Her hand went to her mouth, covering it quickly. She hadn't meant to say the words aloud.
Come here and kiss me. It won't hurt. I promise, it will make us both very happy.
"Get out of my head!" Roxie yelled at him.
"Where I come from, a man can only communicate telepathically with the woman he is destined to marry. What is the name of my future wife?"
"I'm not marrying you."
Bnjmn walked toward her slowly, reaching out to grab her arm and pull her to him.
Roxie's training kicked in, as she took hold of the arm he held out, and flipped him over her head so that he landed flat on his back on the floor. She put her foot in the middle of his chest and grinned down at him. "You were saying?"
Chapter Two
Bnjmn was shocked and winded, but oh so impressed with the girl. No man had ever been able to catch him unawares that way, but a woman had? "Marry me. Please."
Roxie shook her head in disbelief. Her trainers had made it clear that she could never use her self-defense abilities against her husband. They had told her that a man would feel as if he'd been castrated by a woman who could fight with him and win. "I will not! I will let you up as soon as you agree to send me back to Earth where I belong!"
Bnjmn took firm hold of her leg, using it for leverage to get to the other. He bent them both at the knee, bringing her down so she was straddling his groin. He was already hard, his cock pressing against his pants to get to her, and he rocked up against her making sure she knew it.
Roxie let out a gasp of shock. No man had ever touched her with his—man part before! Why it was against all laws for a couple who was unmarried to have this kind of physical contact. "Stop that immediately!"
Instead of listening to her, Bnjmn rolled, taking her with him. He was effectively lying between her spread thighs. He bit back a groan. He wanted to remove all of their clothing and thrust inside her, but he had too much respect for her to do that. She was his mate, not just some woman to spill his seed into. He had to wait until she agreed to allow him inside her. If only she'd do it soon...
"You are a beautiful woman, Mary Ann." He leaned down and his lips caught hers, his tongue reaching out to stroke her mouth.
Roxie knew she should fight him. She never should have let him put her in this position to begin with, but he felt so good pressed against her. His lips against hers causing her heart to start racing and her body to catch fire. Her hands moved up to his shoulders and she clung to him.
<
br /> Bnjmn lifted his head, looking down into her face. Her eyes were half closed, and her face was filled with passion. "Please, Mary Ann, marry me. There's no one as right for me as you are!"
"My name isn't Mary Ann!" she protested. "Why do you keep calling me that?" The man was obviously one circuit short of a functioning machine.
"You won't tell me your name, so I'll call you Mary Ann. You're as beautiful as Mary Ann on Gilligan's Island. You may call me Gilligan."
"Gilligan? I thought you said your name was Bnjmn. You're starting to confuse me."
"Have you never seen Gilligan's Island?" Watching old Earth television shows through their satellite was the only way he was able to speak English.
"We don't have much opportunity to watch movies or television. I've never heard of it."
Bnjmn stared at her in fascination. "It's one of the most wonderful shows on Earth television. We will have to watch it together. I have all of the episodes on vid to watch on the ship. Why, even my ship is named after the ship on the show. The S. S. Minnow!"
"You know I still have no idea what you're talking about." Roxie pushed at his shoulder. "Get off me!" Why couldn't he get it through his head that she didn't want him touching her? Or doing anything else to her for that matter?
"Not until you tell me your real name, Mary Ann."
"Why bother if you're just going to call me Mary Ann anyway?" Truthfully, she enjoyed his weight atop her. She enjoyed everything about every inch of his body on hers. Making him move would be the right thing to do though, and Roxie had been raised to always do the right thing.
Bnjmn chuckled at her words. He liked his little warrior queen. He moved his hand up her side from her waist to the side of her breast, finally cupping her in his hand, his thumb searching for her nipple but not finding it. He frowned. His brother had said Earth women's anatomy was the same as their own, except for the red blood thing.
Roxie gasped at the feel of his hand on her. If not for the thick undergarment she wore, she would have felt so much more. She wanted to throw off that undergarment and beg him to touch her again, but she knew that would be wrong. No, she needed to stick to her moral values. "Don't touch me there!"
