The Betas: Rene' (Werewolves of Manhattan Book 8)

by A. C. Katt

The Alpha spoke, regarding Henri pointedly, “Take our Russian prisoners to the Garou jet and place them in the holding area in the cargo hold. Have them guarded by our Enforcers who are to escort them to the loup garou gulag in Siberia where they will work at hard labor for the rest of their very long lives.”

Someone came up behind Frankie. His wolf’s gentle but strong hand grasped his shoulder. “Ma Vie, are you so disgusted with us that you would leave me?”

“No, baby. I’ve seen you police, try, and convict your own people with loup garou justice. The sentence was warranted considering the crime. The humans who live among you count on your strength to protect us and defend us. The mixing of the species would not work otherwise. They let Chernof get away with murder. For that they received the death penalty. It could not have turned out any differently.”

“Thank you, Ma Vie. Thank you for your faith in me and your faith in the loup garou.”

  Editor’s Note

For those readers that might have missed the announcement, Mary Lynn Hansel (A.C. Katt) passed away unexpectedly in her sleep June 21, 2017. She is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren. Her memory will live on in her words, with her characters and her stories. Working on the edits for this was both hard and a joy for myself, the line editor and the proof reader.

This book was to be the first in a spin-off series from her Werewolves of Manhattan but instead will be the last of her tales. The original ending to the book read:

  “I wonder who is next?”

  “Next, Ma Vie?”

  “Next up, for a Mate.”

“Only the gods have that answer. Unless they speak to Vitas, we won’t know until it happens.”

Frankie had a chill. “I have a feeling it will need to happen soon.”

I guess that Mary Lynn and the gods are sharing that answer in the Heavens. May the angels enjoy her stories as much as her readers have.

  About the Author

AC Katt was born in New York City’s Greenwich Village. She remembers sitting at the fountain in Washington Square Park listening to folk music while they passed the hat. At nine, her parents dragged her to New Jersey where she grew up, married and raised four children and became a voracious reader of romantic fiction. At one time she owned over two thousand novels, until she and her husband took themselves and the cat to New Mexico for their health and its great beauty.

AC Katt passed away peacefully in her sleep in June of 2017. Her stories will continue to be released to bring entertainment to readers in her memory.

Now, most of AC’s books are electronic (although she still keeps six bookcases of hardcovers), so she never has to give away another book. AC is new to both GLBT and to writing being, as she claims, a late bloomer, however, she claims to have found her niche writing GLBT romance.

She hangs out at ACKatt.com; where she keeps her journal. This is a very opinionated kitty and at ackatt.com where you may find snippets of her current releases, as well as some from works in progress.
