The attraction between Rosalind and the wagon train captain deepens as the journey continues. He is enamoured with the independent, tempestuous and courageous beauty; she finds herself enthralled, not only by his looks, but his commanding presence, for he is a natural leader, a dominant, confident man who rapidly earns respect. Their courtship, although unconventional, blossoms, and the hardships they face on the Oregon Trail only strengthens the bond between them. But William's love for her doesn't prevent him from turning her over his lap for a spanking when she crosses the line - which she inevitably does, as the spirited Rosalind is not used to doing as she's told!
This period Western romance is a real treat. It is a tale of courage and adventure, love and adversity, portraying characters that are easy to connect with, and an engaging storyline.
A Cowboy's Love by Leigh Smith
It is the late 1800's, and when Marsh Tucker discovers an overturned stagecoach, he takes the survivors, including the attractive young woman Grace Callahan, to his home at Winding Creek Ranch. Little does he know that Grace will be instrumental in changing his life. Although he finds her physically appealing, his initial opinion of her character isn't very complimentary - he finds her wilful and pampered, clearly spoiled by her wealthy society family. As for Grace, she thinks the handsome cowboy is not only bossy but a bully too, for when her behaviour warrants it he takes her over his knee and spanks her bottom.
As the story moves forward, we learn that Grace is really Annabelle Steele, running away from Philadelphia; her parents wanted her to marry the influential Jameson Henry Bartlett ... but being a woman with a mind of her own, Grace made other plans, thwarted by the stagecoach accident. However, she is given a warm welcome at Winding Creek by Marsh's mother Maddy and her partner Bull, and she begins to feel at home with this good hearted family. She adjusts to ranch life, and begins to develop feelings for Marsh. Those feelings are reciprocated, yet Marsh doesn't hesitate to give her a spanking when he feels she needs it.
Set against a backdrop of majestic Arizona scenery, Indians, cattle, horses and cowboys, this is a story of adventure and adversity and simmering passions, and two people thrown together by circumstance. But Annabelle and Marsh are from very different backgrounds ... do they have any hope of a future together?
