Breaking the Rules (Roaming Devils MC #1)

They went back to the party and Ryker saw Ella standing there taking it all in. He didn’t know what to say to her. If it was going to happen he had to entertain himself with something else or he’d fucking lose his mind.

While his father went to her, Ryker went back to his seat. Since he was clean, that meant drugs were out. He grabbed one of the club whores dressed in a short little sparkly dress. She stumbled on her spiked heels as he dragged her toward him. His hands went to his jeans and he pulled his cock out. The bitch got the message, kneeling before him. He sat back, trying not to focus on what his father was doing. The bitch before him took his cock between her lips and sucked him, giving him the distraction he wanted. He closed his eyes, picturing the one scene that he’d been playing over and over his head—the only scene that got him hard and got him off.

He pictured Ella laid out in front of him while he sank into her welcoming body.

Ella Hawkins didn’t know what to think when she went in the back room with the man named Razor. Once they were alone, he reached for a bag of pot from a table in the room and rolled himself a joint.

“So you’re the reason my son was thrown into jail.”

Ah. That’s why he wanted to talk with her alone. He rolled the pot in the paper and licked it to seal.

“My father wasn’t too happy about us being together.”

He pinched the joint shut and glanced up at her. “Your father. Isn’t that who you’ve come to ask us to rescue?”

She swallowed. “Not exactly, no. I wanted to buy cocaine.”

“You ever try the stuff?” he asked. He reached for a lighter and lit the joint, sucking hard. “It’ll take your fucking head off.”

She wasn’t a drug user, and smoke irritated her asthma. “I’m not interested in using it myself.” Ella stared at him.

“Oh.” He puffed on the joint. “What are you planning to do with it?”

Ella swallowed. He knew. She knew Ryker told him. “I don’t have much time. Can you get me the drugs or not?”

Razor stared at her, puffing his joint. The room smelled like pot and the smoke had started to aggravate her lungs. He had no intention of getting her the drugs. She was making a deal with the devil and she should have known better than to think he’d play by the rules.

“I told my son that the only way I’d help you is if you give me a taste of your wet pussy.” Razor slipped the joint between his lips. “He thinks I’m fucking you right now.”

“Is that what you want?” Ella asked. She had no intention of sleeping with the man, although if it meant getting her dad back, it wasn’t the worst thing she could do. She’d already broken the law by trying to buy drugs. And if she got them, she could do twenty to life with the amount she wanted.

“No.” Razor took in her body. “I’m sure you’re a great fuck, but I think you’re more of a problem than not. And I don’t fucking like problems.”

  “Then what do you want?”

The man tapped his joint in a nearby ashtray. “I’ll agree to help you. We’ll go in and get your daddy from the bad guys. Make sure he is returned in one piece.”

Ella waited for the but in his statement. “I doubt it’s out of the goodness of your heart.”

Razor smiled at her statement. “I want you to stay away from Ryker. For whatever reason, your pussy has got him hypnotized. You are a distraction and he doesn’t need that. He needs to keep his fucking mind on this club if he ever has a chance at running it.”

“We’ve never had sex.” Ella didn’t know what the hell he was talking about. Ryker didn’t like her. He avoided her.

“Really?” Razor seemed surprised at that. “Your father wasn’t playing, then. He arrested him for touching you, not fucking you. Well played.”

Ella didn’t know what to say. Part of being with Ryker that night was to piss her father off. He didn’t like the idea of her coming back home to do her residency. He didn’t like her working in the free clinic run by the hospital. The majority of people she saw were in poverty or junkies. If she wasn’t dealing with a malnourished child she was dealing with overdoses on a daily basis.

“I will stay away from Ryker.” Ella nodded. “If you help me, he’ll never see me again.”

Razor simply stared at her. “I doubt that will be the case. You work in a part of town that’s full of crime. I can imagine daddy didn’t like it. Ryker didn’t like it either.” Razor rubbed his nose. “Did you ever wonder why nothing has happened to you? It wasn’t because you were in a safe place. You had people watching you. People protecting you even though you knew nothing about it.”

Her stomach fluttered at his admission. Ryker wanted to protect her? Even when she was seemingly okay. She didn’t know what to think about that. Razor stared at her as she tried to snap out of her thoughts. He wanted her to leave town. She rubbed her forehead. Her program wasn’t completed until next year. It wouldn’t be easy to transfer to another program either. He didn’t seem too eager to compromise.

“My program isn’t complete until next year. Once I graduate, I’ll leave and none of you will ever see me again.” Ella tried for the only thing she could think of.

“Then we’re going to need an insurance policy while you’re still here.” Razor stamped out the joint. “Do you have access to fentanyl?”

Ella took a deep breath. “Not really.”

  “Can you get it?”

  “Maybe.”

“There’s no maybe. Yes or no.”

She could get it. It broke a million rules and could potentially ruin her career and land her a permanent home in jail, but she could get it. It would be difficult, though, since a good portion of her patients were addicts. She rubbed her eyes, the smoke from the pot irritating her.

  “Yes.”

Razor smiled. “Good, then. We have a deal. Your daddy will be here by this time tomorrow. Come pick him up and bring some fentanyl too.”

  “Patches or injection?”

“I think you know the answer to that.”

She nodded. Ella reached for the doorknob and opened it. Ryker stood in the hallway, leaning against the wall. She didn’t say anything to him. Instead she walked out, listening to Razor tell his son how great of a fuck she was.

  Chapter Two

With a gun in his hand Ryker kicked in the front door of Young Blood’s hidey hole. Inside reeked of blood and sex and Ryker did his best not to breathe it in. Drugs lay everywhere, everything from pot to pills. One addict was passed out with a needle in her arm. He searched through the place, looking for the cop. With a portion of his brothers causing commotion across town at Young Blood’s main clubhouse, he and a select few were getting Ella’s dad.

Two women were processing cocaine with a guard standing over them. Ryker pointed his gun and pulled the trigger. Blood splattered the pure coke and he swallowed, staring at it. There wasn’t enough dust in the room to get him high, but if he stayed long enough the temptation of it would win. Another guard came toward him from the hallway and he pointed and shot. His intelligence from Skanky Pete said that there were four guys inside the house. That meant two were still lurking nearby.

“The strong blood smell is coming from that door.” Vampire pointed to a door to the right of them.

Ryker went first, reaching the door and turning the knob. Some rickety-assed stairs led to the basement. He hated these missions. They never knew what they would find when they got to the bottom. And whoever was down there had the advantage.

He took the first step and the stench of blood hit him hard in the face. Old blood and new mixed in a sickening cocktail before him. He swallowed hard, hoping that the dipshits hadn’t killed the poor fucker yet.

“You and me.” Ryker pointed downstairs at Vampire. He glanced over at Superman and Jonesy. “You two go around back.”

They split up just in case the stupid fuckers wanted to run. Ryker descended the steps, each one squeaking with his weight, approaching with caution. The darkness prevented him from seei
ng anything so with Vampire ready to fire, he flipped the lights.

The cop hung from chains. He stood on the tips of his toes, bruised and bloody from his beatings. From the arsenal left behind they’d used baseball bats, metal pipes, knives of all different kinds, and even an electric cattle prod. The guy was barely conscious.

Ryker glanced around the small room and when he decided there were no places to hide, he put his weapon at the small of his back.

“Isn’t this a shocking twist of fate,” Ryker said as he approached the poor bastard. “Wake up. You’ve got a wife and daughter to get home to.”

The man opened his swollen eye. He didn’t say anything as Ryker and Vampire unhooked him from the chains. His body was weak and his legs gave out when his weight was released. Ryker held his upper body while Vampire got his feet. They carried him out of the basement and to the van with ease.

“The other two must have left,” Superman said. “The whore said that they don’t know where they went but they could have gone for supplies in the neighboring town. It fits the bill of the club. Skip out when real danger occurs. Pussies.”

Ryker nodded as they put the cop in the back of the van. “Take him to Razor. Make sure he’s cleaned up before his daughter sees him.”

He didn’t know what Ella would think of it. From what Ryker could tell, the guy had some broken ribs, maybe some broken bones in his face. He’d lost plenty of blood, so he definitely needed hospital attention.

“What are we doing?” Vampire asked.

“We’re going to find the two missing fuckers.” Ryker smiled at him and got on his bike. He started it up while Vampire got on the bike next to him. Vampire’s real name was Parker and they’d patched in the club together. His nickname came from his fascination with blood and wanting to make their enemies bleed. The man was too damn good at torture. He was definitely not someone anyone wanted to fuck with.

They rode to the next town and spotted the two bikers sitting outside at a restaurant, eating. Ryker snorted at the stupidity of it. These guys were supposed to be street thugs that battered and beat a cop. And here they were enjoying a sandwich with one another with no one else around.

Instead of saying anything, Ryker and Vampire pulled out their guns and shot the two peckerheads in the chest before riding off. He was sure that would make the six o’clock news but he didn’t fucking care. The job had been completed and now it was time to settle things with Razor before Ella came to get her father.

They rode back to the clubhouse. Razor ordered the cop be taken to the hospital and grabbed Ryker’s arm before he got off his bike. “The girl is meeting you there. Go get my money and bring it back to me.”

So she ended up paying them too. Ryker didn’t like the thought of that, but he didn’t say anything. He tried to push down the giddy feeling he had at the very idea of seeing Ella. God, he was pathetic.

He rode to the hospital and waited while his brothers unloaded the cop. They were fucking heroes to the doctors since Superman laid it on thick that they rescued him. Ryker sat back and watched as they all but hero-worshiped his crew before taking the cop into the trauma room.

Ella came around the corner of the ER and saw them. She had a bag in her hand and tried her best to keep from drawing attention to herself. Several nurses watched them as she approached.

“I brought you lunch.” She handed the bag to Ryker. “Ham and cheese just like you like with two pickles. They were out of diet soda, so you’re on your own for something to drink.”

Ryker stared at her. How the fuck did she know he liked ham and cheese with two pickles? He blinked at her for a moment. He knew it was the money. There was no reason that Ella would ever get him a sack lunch.

“Thanks.” He swallowed. “Uh, that’s not why I called you down here, though. We found your dad. He’s been beaten up pretty badly but he’s alive. They’re taking care of him in trauma one.”

He watched her. She rushed to the glass doors and the flood of emotion poured over. The nurses didn’t know what to do and quite honestly neither did he. Ryker found himself shoving the bag at Superman, who simply nodded.

He went to her, wrapping his arms around her as she clung to him. He tried not to enjoy the softness of her body against his, but he couldn’t help himself. The coconut scent of her skin mingled with the antiseptic of the hospital. He held her while she cried. He was a mess, but he couldn’t seem to force himself to move away from her.

Vampire came toward him. “I’m going to wait. Superman and Jonesy are going to meet Razor.”

Ryker nodded. A nurse came toward them. “Dr. Hawkins, maybe you should have a seat.”

Ryker wanted to tell the bitch to back off but Ella was already moving toward a chair along the far wall and dragging him with her. She sniffled as big, fat tears rolled down her cheeks. Ryker cupped her face and leaned in to kiss her forehead.

“Maybe you should call your mom.”

She took a deep, shaky breath. “Yeah. Maybe.” She glanced down at the black shirt he wore. “You have blood on you.”

“I helped lift him into the van.”

She nodded. “You didn’t punch him or anything, did you?”

  Ryker snorted. “Not this time.”

She grabbed his hand with both of hers and pulled it onto her lap as she laid her head against his shoulder. Every time he breathed he smelled her. He ached to touch her. To kiss her. To wrap himself around her and protect her.

“I need to go, Ella.” It physically killed him a little inside to extract his hand from hers. “Call your mom.”

Simply because he was weak, he leaned in to kiss her wet cheek. He tasted her salty tears and a small part inside him resisted leaving her. He had other shit to do. The longer he stayed at the hospital, the bigger the chance the cops were called and he’d be questioned. It still might happen anyway.

When he finally got enough courage to pull away from her, he stood and went to find Vampire. Instead of saying anything, the two men walked out the waiting area’s door and straight to their bikes.

“Do you want to explain how she knows you like ham and cheese with only two pickles?” Vampire asked.

  “No.”

Vampire nodded. “I didn’t think so.”

They rode off, heading back to the warehouse. Ella fucked with his mind more than any other bitch. He didn’t know why either. He’d thought it was a little obsession he had for her. The need to conquer all the pussy in the land or some bullshit. But instead of jumping her like a horny asshole, he found himself wiping her tears and giving her tender kisses on her forehead. He couldn’t recall ever kissing someone’s forehead, or cheek for that matter. He couldn’t recall letting them hold his hand either. He’d spent the better part of his adult life trying to push his thoughts away from Ella, but she crept up on him. Crawled under his skin and got to him unlike any other person in his life.

That alone was enough to frighten the shit out of him.

He parked his bike and went into the warehouse. Razor sat at the bar with a drink in his hand, glowering at him. “Where have you been?”

  “I had to—”

“Shut the fuck up.” Razor held his hand up. “You were supposed to bring the money that bitch gave you to me. Instead, Superman comes in with the bag and you’re nowhere to be found.”

Ryker didn’t know what to say. His father was angry and when he got real bad, he was a sadistic bastard. There was nothing he could do to get on his good side at the moment, so Ryker didn’t try.

“I’m not going to tell you this again.” Razor pointed his finger at him. “Leave that bitch alone.”

Ryker stood there, staring at the man that was responsible for bringing him into this world. He had no real power against him. As the president of the charter and one of the higher-ups all around, he had loyal followers that marked him almost godlike. His whole rule was to make Ryker his puppet. He knew this. It didn’t bother him that much, either, except for this. Ella was not a bitch and him ev
en calling her that provoked his temper. She wasn’t like the other girls in his life. She was different. Special.

But quite honestly, it was for the best that he left her alone. She didn’t deserve to be part of the life he led. He was born into it. She had the choice to stay away and he needed to push that idea on her. He didn’t need to hold her when she cried or to kiss her tears away. He needed to walk away and forget that she ever existed.

  “It won’t happen again.”

Ryker left him and went to find an empty room. The one he chose had a club bitch standing naked doing rows off the dresser. She glanced up at him when he came inside, her eyes bloodshot and red. She smiled at him as she wiped her nose. Her tits were real and they were big. She had tiny nipples that were perfect to suck on. Her hairless pussy felt great sliding along his dick while she rode him. Ryker swallowed hard.

“One more row and I’ll do whatever you want.” She took an old credit card and made herself a row. He watched as she used a Bic pen casing to snort the white dust into her nose.

That hunger he felt wasn’t for her sexually. He remembered what a rush it was to suck in the cocaine. He squeezed the doorknob until his knuckles went white. That craving would never go away. He’d been a heavy user for at least three years and drying out in a jail cell had done him some good. He had connections to get him what he wanted, but he chose to punish himself for fucking it up with Ella, instead. Somewhere in his fucked up mind, he thought Ella wouldn’t want to be with a drug addict. He’d pushed himself on her that night and when she’d said no, he really hadn’t wanted to listen. Her father got the idea through his drug-induced fog, though. That was all he’d thought about for next few months. The prison doctors had been worried about him and his health. He stayed in the infirmary until he was strong enough to finish the fucking mission he’d been given and he’d been clean ever since.

“Come on, baby.” She came toward him and pulled him away from the door. “What do you want me to do for you?”

He went into the room and let her push him down to the bed. There were rules for women fucking patched members. The men sought them, not the other way around. Not only was this coke whore in the wrong by coming on to him, he didn’t have the strength to push her away.
