Chaos Legion : Recognizing The Beast

by Jada Tarrant

Letting his fingers glide over her clit, he heard her arousal claw at his head. After finding the opening, he felt he spell inside of her. It was deep within her. God damn it RAD. He let a few moments pass before he stuck her, watching the innocent look that her face held while she was asleep. She doesn't deserve this. With that thought, she slammed further inside until she squealed. Sensing that he was close to the intrusion, he muttered a spell. Slowly, he began to slip himself out along with the magic that had been buried within her. All he knew was that she was touching him. She's awake. Her eyes popped open he had gotten out of her, and they were filled with fear.

  -

My pulse was thundering and my legs throbbed violently as if I had been screwed all day and night. I thought Ben was still here but no, it was the boss of Doom Crew naked in front of me. His jaw dropped in shock, and his cheeks flushed red with embarrassment. Why? I didn't know, and I didn't want to know either.

“I'm sorry,” were the first words that came out of his mouth. His gaze dropped down to my thighs. “Get dressed.” It sounded more like a plead than an order, but I did. I couldn't help but watch as he slid his clothes on. There was a huge network of tattoos that trailed down from his arms to abdominal area. Demons welcome was tatted on his forearm coiled around a rose. Once he had finished dressing himself, he went to the door and unlocked it.

Considering he knew what happened, I thought about asking him. Right when my mouth flew open to ask, he let out a grunt.

“A death angel from RAD screwed you until you were vulnerable enough to cast a spell. Ownership spell,” Dave coughed, then looked up to meet my confused gaze. “You would have been completely bound to him if I didn't do what I just did.”

His eyes had lit up and his voice fluctuated with rage as it sounded like he was battling with himself. But he seemed to pull himself together in time to smile at me before coming closer in. My lip trembled as he closed the distance.

“RAD will never have you. I will die before that can happen to you,” Dave said, parting his lips in question. “Protect you, nurture you, and whatever else that may be required.”

Dave meant those words as the harsh truth settled in my brain. The fact that he had tilted his head told me he was waiting on me to either answer or let my urge to kiss him takeover. Without thinking for another second, I pecked his lips and he opened my mouth, tasting me with his tongue. Before I was about to fall over I adjusted myself, but he put a hand behind my neck as he had the other pressing my back further into him. What the hell is wrong with me?

“Nathan's on his way,” Dave hummed in my ear. “Time to let you know what we all feel like.” So I stepped back, plopping my butt onto a barstool and just stared at him. It looked like he meant every word that came out of his mouth. 'Fuck, that isn't good,' something growled within me. I looked up, only to see that my eyes were glowing based on the reflection I saw on the table. Dave had left the room to let me think before Nathan got her. All I knew was that hell was going to break loose once he gets here. If not, then I'll be surprised.

  -

  ~Nathan~

All Nathan knew once he stepped in the door at home he knew something felt very wrong. Deciding to go get a drink, a note sat on the fridge.

Jada's at Stag's. If you care you'll meet with Dave soon after you see this. I'd hurry up if I were you.

Knowing that meant trouble, Nathan couldn't help but think what Drew had told him. If he failed to protect her, Nathan would relive his death everyday. And that wasn't something that he wanted to happen. No, he wanted to be back in hell which was boring and simple.

Pushing that thought aside, he went back to his vehicle and started it. Only one thought crossed his mind. Hopefully she isn't hurt.

As a bunch of memories crossed his mind, he trembled. She doesn't deserve any of this. He was right, but not completely. If he had took a better look at who was in bed with her she wouldn't be with Doom Crew right now. The thought of the man in her bed clouded his head for a moment. He smelled like a Nephilim, which was something he despised. Especially since he was a fallen angel himself. Feeding more gas to the engine out of anger, he pulled into Stag's feeling the demons all around.

Once Nathan slammed the Corvette door, the demons that guarded the door parted ways for him. That's odd. He expected that they were going to beat him to the ground. Being an ex-RAD member didn't calm him either. It made him wish that he never made the deal about a century ago. Technically he'd be 127 years old right now, but since he didn't really age 27 seemed to fit the picture perfectly.

“Hi Nathan,” Dave said and he turned around. Jada looked like she was taking a nap in his arms and it didn't ease him at all. “Hi Dave,” Nathan said as his eyes focused on her. “What happened?” Then the man cleared his throat, making him feel uneasy.

“Whoever took her virginity did a branding spell,” Dave said and Nathan raised an eyebrow in question. “Ownership spell.” Ohh,Nathan's thoughts purred. He forgot what magic he had been able to use so long ago. But a few seconds passed and he remembered, almost making him panic. “Don't worry, I got it out of her.”

Realizing that he would step out of bounds with the other question he had, Nathan stayed silent. With that, Dave had a coy smile on his face. Surely, Nathan didn't want to know anymore than he just heard. But Dave sighed and his head snapped up. The leader was about to have a big speech.

“I understand that you don't like me,” Dave admitted, seeing Nathan shudder. “But we need to agree on some boundaries.” Then Nathan looked over at Dave's hand as he was petting her hair, making her purr. What the hell did the man do to her?

Silence filled the air, as if Dave was waiting for him to protest already. Nathan had already decided that he'd hear him out before he'd make any assumptions.

“You don't like having to watch her, I know. But I want to offer myself to protect the young darkling,” Dave said, as Jada was beginning to wake up. Then he stopped talking, allowing her to fit herself within the conversation. “Jada,” Nathan sighed, but he knew the angel was right. “I accept that you will protect her, but she will still live with me.” Seeing the unreadable expression on the man's face, he could only tell that they had reached an agreement.

“Great,” Dave said as Jada slipped away from him to follow in Nathan's strides.

  CHAPTER 16

  MARCH 23RD, 2014

  WHEELERSBURG, OHIO

Despite the confusion, a very awkward silence had taken over between Doom Crew and Nathan. The worst part is that it started the second I reentered Stag's after the whole incident I didn't understand.

Dave waited in his personal room in the bar, away from prying eyes. He looked like he had visitors chilling with him as he was having some discreet conversation with them. Deciding it wasn't a good idea to intrude, I waited outside the door. But Dave's eyes had already gone to the door, knowing that I was here.

“Things have changed, but it's great that you two are back from vacation. I'll have some people put you on assignment. But I have some business to attend to with the love,” Dave said, glaring at the door. I felt his gaze warm my neck so I finally walked in. The look on his face was rather cryptical, and he seemed tired. Besides, I had just found out about the deal Nathan had made with him months ago just mere hours ago. Even though it meant Derek and Julies were watching me from afar, it only made me feel a tad bit safer. Something didn't feel right.

“You have a question about something?” Dave asked and crossed his arms. The only reason I was coming to him was because I knew he would answer my questions rather than Nathan waving it away. My curiosity was getting worse, and the rumors were spreading about a slow ascension which I didn't understand.

“I'm nearly seventeen and I never had a demon surface within me like I've seen with the others,” I said and frowned. What I had heard was that the demon manifested itself within the early years of childhood. Yet here I am, not feeling much of anything different other than the day I was born. The question s
eemed to plague him as he continued to stare at me.

“Whatever that necklace was stalling was probably contributing to the absence of the demon,” he said and looked up to the ceiling, closing his eyes. “Because right now it doesn't feel like it's magically bound anymore, but I sniff something other than it's absence. In which I could help, but not at the moment.” Well, at least he had agreed to try.

His eyes shot over to the clock and he took in a sigh. “Your time is up. For your curfew is in thirty minutes.” Damn, I hadn't even realized that I had been here for a few hours as I got up. He made himself smile at me. “See you next time.” Then I got up to leave only to feel everyone watching me again. It made my whole body shiver in terror imagining what they could be thinking.

'Well, that was rather enjoyable. Wasn't it?' Then I looked around as I fired up my truck, only to realize the voice was in my head. Who are you? I voiced to myself. A low cackling noise erupted for the next few minutes. 'I can wait until you get home. Just make sure you're in front of a mirror and don't scream.' The voice seemed to be rather calm with me. 'Now let's get home before Nathan makes our head hurt.' What?

In attempt to ignore the little voice that plagued me, I barreled out of the parking lot doing about thirty miles per hour. It was going to surface again. 'Try pushing it to fifty next time, I would like to see the truck do donuts.' Laughing at that little comment, the sarcasm it held was enjoyable. But why the hell was the voice in my head? 'You'll see when we get home.' At least I'm sure it was going to show me what it meant.

Nathan had his arms crossed as I waltzed in the door. Luckily for me, curfew was for eleven o'clock and I had just arrived on the dot. He let out a sigh as he reached out to fluff my hair and plant a kiss on my cheek. 'Aw he cares.'

Moaning in frustration, I watched as Nathan walked to his room. Whoever's voice was plaguing my head, it was definitely confusing me. But after heading into the bathroom I decided to lock the door before I faced the mirror.

“Hello,” the reflection said and I backed away. What kind of demon craft is this? The person in the reflection laughed as I dared to look again, realizing it was me. Are you the demon? Then it nodded as I fancied what had happened, that my demon had grown up already. At least I think so. Both of us fell silent staring at each other, but the demon seemed ready to speak.

'I've been with you since birth,' the demon said, and blinked. 'We've been working together so well that I haven't needed to surface. Plus that amulet put me to sleep. Ha ha,' it laughed in my head. I shook my head, as I didn't want to hear it's voice for much longer.

“So you're me?” I asked and the demon curtly smiled. 'Most demons don't mature, but as a darkling it's more like a second and third nature. Demons tend to act like animals which I do not,' the demon said, breaking my gaze. 'I've behaved and just watched all these years, only throwing some thoughts in your head. And now we're here.' Wow, so I guess that's where my bold headedness had come from. The demon cocked its head and smiled, sending a warm feeling through me.

'Hope your friends warned you of what will happen since I'm around.' The woman had her arms crossed, waiting for me to answer. Wait, what? Then she began to snort. 'There will be times where you can't control me and I'll take over. Even though you are the primary operator I can possess you from time to time.' Then the demon silenced itself, waiting for my response.

“So what does that mean? That we'll have to compromise on everything?” I asked and the demon nodded. 'Yes, and/or lose arguments as you may win sometimes. But highly unlikely,' the demon said with a quirky grin. 'We've spent too much time in here. Nathan's behind the door wondering who you're talking to.' Then the demon seemed to disappear as I saw the doorknob jiggle. Damn, this demon is spot on. 'Thank you.' Even though it'd take a while to get used to.

Leaning against the door, I unlocked it and pushed it open. Nathan fell over which meant that he must have been ease dropping for a while. Something within me growled at the thought as I glared at him.

“Who's in there?” Nathan asked as he adjusted himself to get a better view inside. Nothing was in there as he did one of his low groan mumbles. He was trying to find something off and I felt something constricting me not allowing me to speak. What the hell? “The demon talked to me,” my lips moved to say as it made my hips sway. I became terrified at the thought that I was stuck in my own head. 'Just making a point,' the demon said. 'Ah, at least give me a warning,' I say. Then it laughed. 'Okay, I'll warn you next time,' the demon said playfully.

As soon as that was over, I took a breath and realized I had control over my body again. I definitely didn't want to feel that again. But Nathan was transfixed in the moment, taking a while to find his footing. He looked straight up at my eyes.

“Well then. That explains why your eyes turned from hazel to charcoal,” he said, ready to elaborate more. 'It matured a lot quicker than I thought.' “Your demon side must be quite the sweetheart.”

Pretending not to hear his thoughts, the idea swept over my mind. Demon, mature? I'm sure it'll tell me what I need to know soon enough.

Right on my seventeenth birthday the demon howled within me at 4:43 am, the moment I had been born seventeen years ago. Taking in a slow breath I cradled my head from the pressure it created. A mixture of mine and the demon's thoughts found a way to drain my energy. It seemed to be more aware of everything around me, telling me to focus sometimes. Plunging into faerie sight repeatedly was what the demon wanted, and each time it happened my pupils went entirely white. It let the faeries and the demons in that world know that I could see them. Not everything I saw was pleasant thought as I saw fighting amongst the courts. Being a bystander made the demon growl, and adrenaline would come rushing to my head. What are all these feelings for? The demon let me explore more into their world, and learn more about Doom Crew. After a while, it took some time that not many people had faerie sight. Then again, someone told me while I visited some streets while in faerie sight that I could spot angels easier. That would be something I'd have to take advantage of.

A faerie had stopped by my home and dropped off a letter in my truck the following week after my discovery of their world. Doom Crew and the leaders of the faerie courts wanted to meet. A little bit of fear rose in my throat, but was immediately gone within minutes. The demon was convinced that it was good news.

Dave was already waiting in the conference room, and the instant my gaze found his he locked in on me. Before I could choose my sweat, he pulled one out of courtesy and made me sit down next to him. He wanted to register to them that we work together, even though it was distant. But something felt comfortable with the scent of his angel next to my demon. I couldn't quite put my finger on it why, other than what Dave did to snap me out of a spell a while ago.

Then the two faeries came in that looked completely different from each other. One had blonde hair and icy blue eyes, while the other had auburn hair and brown eyes. What courts did they belong to? The blonde one was about to answer first. “Winter Court,” he said as he looked at the other faerie. “Summer Court,” she said. Ah, that seems to explain some of it.

“The name's Dom,” the blonde man said as he exchanged glances with the summer faerie. “Ana,” she said poorly as she forced a smile. The stress of their positions showed in both their faces. “We might as well get on with why we're here.” The man decided to glare at me the moment she said that, sending a chill down throughout my spine.

“We've noticed our subordinates aren't being so friendly with those demons and humans set aside,” the man said, eyeing me. “Not many rules have been followed since then, and it's hard to cast punishment on them. Especially since the Dark Court has detached itself from faerie society. Darklings are like the arch angels of the faerie world.” 'ARCH ANGELS?' the demon exclaimed.

Then everyone had their eyes on me the moment they heard the demon's outburst from my mind. The man was being unusually nice. 'He wants to be our ally,' the demon purred. Well, that's good to know.
r />   “Someone's quite untrained I see,” An said and her face hardened. Her eyes darted up to Dave. “You'll have to convince the Dark Court to train her.” At those words, the angel stiffened next to me as he had to be thinking of something. But at last he said, “I will.”

But before I could leave the Winter Court faerie touched my shoulder slightly. His icy hands stunt my nerves at the site. “And when you're trained we'll send you the book of rules to read over. You'll be helping us,” Dom said. The thought of the man wanting my help made my stomach churn. “See you soon, hopefully.”

  SECTION 3

  CHAPTER 17

  THE DARK COURT

  ~Drew~

The sound of a whip scared both Drew and his friend as they entered the arena. No lights even illuminated the place, as they both relied on the movements of the other darklings. A challenge waited for them somehow as they found the heart of the maze and heard someone say “wait.”

Quite unnerved, the man next to him smelled like fear. That, and the fact he had pissed on himself. Ignoring that, Drew tried focusing on the figures that were approaching them, and his stomach tightened knowing it was the boss.

“Either it was pure luck or you both relied on your instincts. But I can tell it was follow the leader,” the boss said, eyeing Drew, and he knew he was. “Hayes, I want to see you in my office after you find a way out.” The leader then disappeared before his eyes and his friend shivered.

“I don't get what they want from us. I know you're in a contract because you asked for help. But all they did was sweep me off the street and force me to stay,” the darkling whined. By the sounds of his voice, he was a very young demon. Drew didn't quite want to hear his sob story but said “uh-huh.” Then silence fell between them as Drew relied on his senses for every twist and turn. A door popped up, which meant they found the exit. “Thank god,” the darkling said and followed Drew out.
