Chaos Legion : Recognizing The Beast

“I don't know what you want,” she said, nearly trembling. All three of them laughed. “You to surrender,” Maverick said and looked over to Sarson. “The only thing that'll save you is if you can run fast enough. But you're only human,” Sarson said, grimacing. 'We need to run and shift,' the demon urged. To they bolted as the men behind her shifted into their beasts.
A cougar, wolf, and a reptilian creature followed. Figuring the reptile was Sarson, she knew he wouldn't keep up. But the other two would definitely be able to keep up. Deciding not to think about it anymore, she pushed herself to move faster as her demon growled. The ground had shifted underneath her feet as she felt lighter and faster.
As soon as she looked down there were paws instead of hands as they pitter pattered on the ground. The sound of the others were drawing near.
A voice broke through to her head. “You can let go now,” it said. 'Drew,” the demon said quietly. Jada blinked as she noticed she was in the backyard. Currently on all fours as Drew had a body mirror out.Holy shit, that's a big wolf. “Second class like me,” Drew said and grinned. “Good work today.” Her jaw dropped open as the demon had a question. 'Did you trick us?' it asked.

Drew
Right when the demon asked, Drew turned around as he headed into the house. Jada followed as she was curious to know the answer as her demon was demanding it.
He tensed up as she almost got a hit on him. Holding her fist, her eyes widened. Drew knew it wasn't her fault as she was influenced by the demon.
“First things first, you don't want to do that again. I'll have you pinned to the couch next time before you can even blink,” Drew said as the demon smiled. It very much wanted him to do that. 'Understood,' it said.
“Second, mind manipulation. I used it on you to think you were in danger. You could have prevented me from entering if your mind was guarded. With the demon in control it is very easy for anyone to enter. That's where you two have to work together,” Drew said as Jada blinked. The information had successfully convinced the demon that she needed some control for them to survive. It almost became an awkward silence until his daughter voiced her question. “Is possession the same thing too?” she asked as her demon hummed in the background.
“Similar grounds are met, but no. Possession is completely different as your demon can do it to you. But if someone were to do so you'd have to be vulnerable and willing. Which Dave already told me happened with an angel long ago,” Drew said as the thought plagued his mind. Just thinking about it made it hard to speak.
Both Jada and her demon seemed to show concern as they knew the subject bothered him. It seemed like he was about to cry, but Jada went to peck his cheek and he smiled. The affection warmed him up, as he held her tightly kissing her forehead.
“I'm sorry for all the trouble I've caused in your life,” Drew said as he inhaled slowly, running his fingers through her hair. “I let my stubbornness get in the way when your mother lost her memory. I don't want to lose you too.” Realizing he confused her, she had looked up into his eyes. 'He's telling the truth,' the demon said. Then her eyes widened. Dad.
With that, she nudged into his shoulder as he caressed her hair. This was the closure that his heart ached for, and Nathan was watching slightly from afar. His face lit up in a mix of concern and happiness at their reunion. Especially since he knew Jada was the only family he had left. Other than that, Maverick had offered to him. DCAG stayed close as a family at heart, but trained to fight as if every day was their last.

Shifting was harder without Drew invading her head with dangerous scenarios. But after a few weeks of in vigorous training, it almost became a second nature. The only problem was that she only managed to stay in it for a few moments, which was better than nothing.
Being in wolf-form, she jumped onto the roof and instantly went back into human form. Fuck. As if that weren't enough, the roof was slippery. If it wasn't for Drew catching her, she would have very much broken a few bones.
“I think we're done shifting,” he said and put her down. “Inner magic is next. You'll learn how to manipulate and possess. By that, I meant manipulating reality by changing it in one's mind. A trait only darklings have over the world. Reason why Deja-vu happens most of the time.”
Currently confused, the demon spoke through her tongue. “Like this, but with others?” she hissed. Drew nodded. That will be interesting to learn.
Sarson and a few members of DC were gathered in the living room. Drew must have arranged this earlier, because she was asleep and the demon always pried into his thoughts. Most of them were well guarded, but a thought or two always slipped.
The three men that sat on the couch looked familiar, but she didn't know their names. Nor did Drew know either, or else he would have acknowledged them already.
“Ashster Fields,” the one on the left said. The man was incredibly skinny, but tall. The one in the middle spoke out. “Tristan Amber,” he said as his eyes turned to slits and back. 'Another demon,' the demon hissed. “Wolf Shifter.” Ah now that seems to make sense. Then the one on the other end has his arms crossed. “Drelik Dundeman,” he said, partly with sarcasm. “Shade.” 'Shade?' the demon asked Drew. They were confused.
“Shades are just like humans, but infused with shadow energy. Known for running rogue and working with the Winter Court,” Drew said, giving his an odd look. We cocked our head and stuck our tongue out getting a few laughs out of the males. The demon hummed in approval.

~Drew~
Drew noticed the defiant glint in her eyes that meant trouble as soon as she entered the room. The demon was focused on the man in front of her.
“All right. Sit,” Drew said and Jada sat in the recliner close to him. Good, she isn't trying to get near him yet. Then Tristan spoke up. “You'll be trying to invade my mind girlie,” he said and leaned back as it exposed his hard-chiseled muscles. Stars danced in Jada's eyes as the demon growled.
“Everyone's head is guarded in a way or two. You've already learned how to hear them and talk to them, as those are merely the first steps. Now once you get in his head you'll want to press more into his mind. Illusions include change of scenery, people, and possibly mood,” Ashster said, arms crossed. “You may start.”
Tristan hardly moved moments after Drew sensed Jada got into his head. He didn't know what she was doing, and he wasn't sure if it was working either. But then the man tensed up and walked to her, sitting down in her lap. Ashster and Drelik blinked. She didn't manipulate him, but had successfully possessed him to get what the demon wanted. A man all over her.
Interrupting the shifter's make out session, Drew pulled him off. Lust had filled Jada's eyes. “Let go of his head,” Drew said and the wolf stopped fighting him. The man shook his head and laughed. “That felt good young one,” Tristan said and met the seductive look in her eyes. “Maybe next time i'll do it without any orders.” Then he looked up at Drew, seeing the anger in his eyes. “Unless your father has something to say.” But Drew didn't speak as the others got up to leave. Tristan planted a kiss on her lips, making Drew jump as he gave him a glare.
Once everyone left, Drew sat back down. The demon had retreated, returning her to her usual self. She got up and sat next to him, hugging him. Drew didn't know what he'd do if the demon had full control. He'd miss his the moments he had with his daughter, although brief. Whatever he'd teach her would help her live, even though she'd fight all the time for it. But the thought didn't bother him as badly as it did. His daughter was strong, and with the demon pushing her she'd definitely reach higher places than him. He just wanted to make sure she'd do it safely.
CHAPTER 21
JULY 2ND, 2014
PORTSMOUTH, OHIO
~Dave~
Dave called to set up a personal meeting between Drew, Jada, and him. He was quite impressed by the progress the man was making with only one thing bothering him. His men told him that he was her fat
her. The whole point of the meeting was to set a boundary the darkling wouldn't cross, and giving Jada her first assignment. She'd be pleased to hear it once she gets here.
That moment came about nearly an hour later. Jada strode in graciously as Drew stayed close behind, watching her like a hawk. Dave tried to smile at the fiery look in her eyes, but Drew seemed to be staring. It looked like the darkling was ready to kill if anything happened to her. There seemed to be a shred of obedience in him, holding him back. Something told him the man would likely argue with him soon, so the good news would have to come first.
“I've heard great things,” Dave said, watching her face light up with excitement. “And I think you're ready for your first assignment.” 'Assignment, as in I really get to help?' her demon asked. He nodded as she grinned.
Drew stood behind her as Dave saw the shocked expression on his face. The man knew she should have come on her own so Drew and him could talk later. But it was already too late.
“What kind of mission?” she asked excitedly. Dave couldn't help but laugh at her enthusiasm. After all, she was the one he put in his human will to have everything he owned in case if something went wrong. But she wouldn't know that until he was gone.
“Solo mission,” Dave said as her eyes glistened at the words. “One of RAD's angels is coming to visit tomorrow supposedly. And I need you to shag him for information, then kill him.” The pupils in her eyes widened and Drew nearly jumped at the word kill. “Now you can go. I have things to discuss with Hayes that isn't for your ears.”
A flicker of madness brushed into her features, but she took in a sigh and walked away. That defiant look meant death to him, especially since the woman was strongly committed. All of those features would work out nicely for her later in time.

~Drew~
At the moment Jada left, Drew oh-so ultimately wanted to follow. But once he heard the urgency in the angel's voice, he figured he was in trouble. Crap, it's too early for this. Then the man laughed at his thought. “We're not there yet,” Dave said as his mouth twitched a bit. “Pretty damn close though.”
With that, Drew guessed the man knew his secret. His men must've spilled the information to him a while ago.
“I found out from the others that the child is yours. Also, I thank you for training her, but I believe you need to give her some space. At least to properly grow into her own person, as adulthood is only a matter of months away.”
Then Dave fell silent as he waited for Drew's answer. He sighed, which clearly meant he disagreed. But it seemed like he had conformed to the idea.
“I will keep my distance. But if I feel as if something has gone terribly wrong, I'll go get her. That's where I drop my line,” Drew said with fire. Dave just smiled as he heard every word, knowing the girl's spirit came from him.
“That's fine. I get how protective you are. But at least give her space to learn from her mistakes. If you feel she is in grave danger or hurt you can definitely step in,” Dave said, seeing his words make the man more confident. This darkling is definitely committed, if he wasn't bound to DCAD, he'd be here. At that thought, Dave frowned. His dreams were false and he knew it. The male in front of him was older, probably around his age maybe. Deciding not to be silent any longer, he huffed out a few words. “You may go.”
Those last three words were what Drew wanted to hear about an hour ago. But now he was wide-eyed curious at how understanding the man was. He knew better though. The way the man squinted his eyes said he had a head, and that he wasn't in reality at that moment. There must be a lot more Dave thinks about than DC or RAD. No, he must have some family down here.
Without missing a beat, he noticed the car was still here. Jada was considerate enough to be sleeping in the passenger seat. She must have known it was going to take a while, or maybe she was just plain tired.
After shaking her shoulder lightly, she started to rouse. There was no sign of the demon at bay, so it must've been tired. Drew took in a sigh of relief. Training her had kicked his ass, but she still had much to learn. Just the rest of it was in a textbook. Needless to say, she didn't need him anymore.
-
The day went by fast, and all I could think about was the assignment. I decided that i'd do my best so Dave knew that I wouldn't be the kid to sit on the sidelines. Instead, I wanted to be the one to bring RAD to their knees. Funny, how thinking about that made adrenaline rush through my veins. They had done enough to give me reasons to go after them. The demon and I had already decided that we'd hunt them down together. With that compromise, the demon decided not to take over. Instead, she'd try to help me with the knowledge she held in these type of situations.
Knock, knock! About two members from Doom Crew stood in the doorway with impervious smiles on their faces. One of them flung a paper into my hands. The paper had the angel's name written on it. Emerald Mayfair. Currently the man was a fallen angel, and the other person handed me a dagger. 'Angelic steel,' the demon slithered to me. Clenching the weapon, I smiled up at them.
“I will do my best,” I say as the men nodded. One of them looked at me as if he wanted to say something. “If anything goes wrong, possess the barkeeper. He'll throw the damn angel out,” he said. 'Now that's one idea to keep in mind,' the demon hummed. I agreed, and the men had left.
The place wasn't far from Stag's, but it was a club. That meant there would be annoying lights and danceable music that would prove to be a distraction. But the demon had decided we'd get there early so the angel wouldn't know before hand. Currently there's a few RAD spies in DC to be disposed of, and we were going to find out who.
Despite the dirty looks given, I walked in slowly. The tight clothing felt awkward, and the only thing that was giving me some comfort was the blood ring. It quelled both mine and the demon's nervousness when we touched it.
Besides, the bartender smiled at me when I came in. “First assignment?” his thoughts rushed to me. Quite frankly, I nodded. “Come sit. The angel won't be here for another hour.” Reluctantly I did as the man slid me a cocktail. “This should keep you calm.” Then I took a few sips and my eyes lit up. “I like this,” the demon said through my lips quite seductively. The man behind the counter became quite aroused. “There he comes,” the bartender said.
At those words, I twirled around as I went to separate everyone's scent in the room until it fell onto two men. One had lush black hair, and a body that cried for a beating. He looked to be the same age as I was. The other one appeared more mature, even though his skin was exposed. Instantly, my eyes locked onto the tattoo on his chest of a cross and the man noticed my stare. Crap, too soon.
The male made his way through the crowd, never breaking eye contact. His stare made my whole body shiver as it turned cold. Then the man stopped a foot away as he must have felt something odd. He latched his eyes onto my figure.
“I saw a beautiful woman stare at me when I walked in. I wanted to double-check her interest,” the angel said, caressing my cheek. The touch nearly made me melt. “Such lust. Yet RAD wants you as I am a part of it. Emerald Mayfair, how do you do?”
“I'm good,” I said as I was swirling around my drink. Now was the time to act. “What do you all know about me?” That seemed to get a big smile out of him.
“That Ben marked you,” Emerald said as he placed a hand on my leg. The demon within purred. “You're a powerful creature that's not supposed to be born here.” Then his eyes looked up to mine, clearly seeing the desire the demon had. “And before I screw you, you may ask one more question.” So I bit down on my lip, slushing around questions that both the demon and I had.
“How many spies in DC?” the demon asked through me. The man laughed. “Just one,” the man said as he pulled me onto his lap. “Than man's a son of a shade that messed with your mother long ago. Rest you'll have to find out on your own.”
Something screamed within me the moment he yanked my hair as he sent me spiraling into a wall. The angel pinned me with his body as
his face seemed rather emotionless. All I saw was him take a flask out of his jacket and down some liquid.
“I can feel for the next few hours so I'm going to enjoy this as much as I can.” Then his hand slipped to my waist, feeling the dagger hidden underneath my belt. Surprise was etched in his features as he let out a chuckle. “So you're the one they sent to kill me.” Closing my eyes, he slipped the weapon away as he dared to poke her with it. “Don't worry, you won't fail. I'd rather be killed with a blade of a darkling than suffer what I'll face with RAD soon for mingling with you.”
At that moment he pressed his bulge against my groin, hearing a pleasurable noise come out of me. 'This female will be worth it,' his thoughts sang.
The bartender looked at the angel funny, and the male felt his stare. He turned around, letting his fierce stare pierce whatever interest he had in the situation. But he smiled to himself as he thought about seducing the woman. “Turn on some danceable music,” the angel said with a devious smile.
The room spun once the beat picked up. Techno music nearly put me in a trance as my heart beat faster knowing the man's motive. In the background, her demon watched it unfold. 'Terrible,' it said. 'I pushed the human too far.' Within that moment, the male moved faster until things became an array of colors. It worried the demon much more as she noticed the man held the dagger close behind her body. 'Wake up Jada, wake up.' Desperate, the demon pushed into her mind for control the moment she cried. 'Oh jesus this is going to hurt when she wakes up.' Then the demon closed her eyes when the dagger pierced skin, twisting muscle as it spun deeper.
Nearly subdued by the pain, the color returned to my eyes and I screamed. No one could hear me over the loud music that drowned out her voice. But Drew, although a city away, heard my demon's shrill cry. It urged him to move immediately.

Nathan and Sarson noticed the feral look that overtook Drew's face in the middle of a card game. He just knew something about tonight wasn't settling right. Now he knew, and her demon reached out for him. Even though he had no idea where she was at, he sensed she wasn't far.
