Quicker than he expected he heard the door opening and closing five minutes later and out strolled Ajax in heavy footfalls. He had one direction and that was toward Hawk. Fury dictated his hurried steps.

  “Didn’t I warn you, boy?”

Back molars grit tightly. “I’m no boy.”

“I warned you to stay away from my girl. Didn’t I? And here you are getting your fuckin’ feet under her table.”

If Hawk was the eye rolling type his would be taking a tour around his fucking skull. Being squared up to by this Marinos wasn’t the first time. But he’d be damn sure it was gonna be the last.

Hardening his voice, he looked head on and glared. “Why don’t you focus on the shit I’m sure Gia just told you or doesn’t it bother you that the bratva knows she exists?” And then Hawk tested the waters to what Ajax might be tangled up in by adding. “I’m guessing not since you allowed your brother to hand over her name just like that…”

“The fuck did you just say to me?” Though his tone didn’t raise, the darkness seeped out of the old man and for a second Hawk wondered if he’d gotten it wrong. But those two were thick as thieves so he wasn’t giving the fucker the benefit of the doubt just yet.

“You heard me. Your brother told Grigori who Gia was and where she’d be. It was Rex who put Gia in fucking danger. Don’t pretend you don’t know. They never would have thought to use her against Rider if not for fucking Rex so think on that old man before you ask what the fuck I’m doing here. Did she tell you they caught her in public? I’m doing the job Rider asked me to do and that’s watch his sister until she gets to Colorado because I’m the only fucker here in this goddamn state he trusts to do it.”

“You’ll watch your fucking mouth with me,” warned Ajax. The street light showing the tightness around his lips.

“Or what? Threaten to put me in the ground? Been there, done that and look at me, old man, still walking.”

Having a face-off with Gia’s father was not in his plan for tonight but then nothing in the last weeks had been planned.

Before one of them blew up outside her house he took the few steps and plonked his ass down on the small wall, legs out in front of him.

  “Gonna deny it then?”

“Fuck you. I owe you nothing.”

Hawk smirked. “Nah. But you do the girl in there. The one who was held by Grigori and his greasy men with their hands on her.”

  He heard Ajax curse.

“Yeah, that’s right. Fuck knows what they would have done if I hadn’t been there.” He left out the detail of telling the Russian she belonged to him. Somehow Hawk had the feeling Ajax wouldn’t care for Hawk being his fake son in law.

“This is the first I’m hearin’ about it because my goddamn son didn’t tell me shit.”

“Hard to believe you don’t know what Rex is up to. You were his VP. Thick as thieves the way I hear it. As for your son, ask yourself why he doesn’t hold any faith in your loyalty.”

“Were being the keyword and that was a long fuckin’ time ago. And he wouldn’t do that to my daughter. Not my Gia.”

Hawk jeered. He could tell him a lot about the precious brother he was defending. He could tell him all about the plotting he was doing to put Rider in the ground and take his mantle back.

“And yet he did. So, you ask him what the fuck is going on that he’d hand over an innocent in something that has nothing to do with her.”

“That boy of mine will be hearin’ from me. He should have told me what the fuck was going on, so I could protect my own goddamn daughter.”

“Funny then that Rider has no stock in what he thinks dear old dad can do.”

Hawk rose to his feet and smirked with petty glee that he towered over the tall man glowering at him.

“Word to the wise, Mad-dog. Your brother has no fucking loyalty in him. If Rex has handed over Gia, there’s no saying what else he’s done or will do. I’d run on home to your old lady…don’t wanna leave Annie alone for too long…” He didn’t need to go on.

  Ajax stiffened.

Hawk started back up towards the door.

That craggy, hateful voice stopped him in his tracks.

Cold grabbing the base of his spine.

“You keep away from her, you hear, boy? You forget what I know about you…”

Silence. One. Two. Three… “You do the job my son has set you, then you stay the fuck away from Gia. Or god help you if I gotta be the one to break it to her who she’s let inside her house. You want her knowing that filth?”

  One.

  Two.

  Three.

Bombs blew behind Hawk’s eyeballs and his growl stung the night air.

  CHAPTER THIRTEEN

“My one and only job is protecting her. Try and stop me if you dare.” - Hawk

“You got something against your daughter having protection?”

  “When it’s you I do.”

“Maybe you want me to let Grigori stroll in and pluck her up, old man.”

It’s funny how easy the mind will fool itself. Minutes ago, Hawk had ideas of doing a lot more than protecting Gia.

  Stupid, foolish ideas.

And his dirty, filthy mind lapped it up. Encouraging him with his hungry dick chiming in to tell him it was a great fucking idea.

  Have her.

Have her over and over. Sate the hunger in his skull.

Ajax rocking up to her house, giving him that same disgusted stare he’d done years ago the first time he warned Hawk away from Gia brought him crashing to reality.

Now he could barely contain the need in his blood to kill this man.

The man who thought he knew everything and knew nothing.

But the acid churning up his digestive tract was the same nonetheless and he hated Ajax Marinos, not for the threat, he expected it, oddly respected the old man for looking out for Gia. He too would guard her with his life no questions asked.

But putting that back in his head, reminding Hawk of the first and last conversation he had with him ten long years ago when Ajax had seen something on Hawk’s face looking at Gia.

Days later he’d cornered Hawk in the clubhouse, told him in no uncertain terms to stay the fuck away from his young daughter, laid out his trump card in telling Hawk he knew.

Oh, yeah, the old man knew, how? He couldn’t say for sure, but he had some ideas and was sick over it. She’d get money any way she could, even filling Ajax’s head with fucking lies.

It was several months after that Ajax moved his family back to Texas even surprising Rider who assumed it was because Rider now owned the club. Hawk reckoned differently.

Ajax wanted Gia far away from him.

And Hawk had lived in the dark ever since.

Only being back in Gia’s life without having to skulk in the shadows for a glimpse of her did he realize how much he’d lived in that darkness, desolate of any warmth and now he was bathed in sunshine.

“Heed what I say, Hawk. You won’t put one disgusting hand on my girl, not if I have anything to do with it.”

“You do you, Mad-dog. I’ll be the one here stopping your brother helping Grigori in destroying our club. I’ll be the fucking wall between Gia and the Russians. But you go right ahead putting your focus on me. Why start doing the right thing for your family now? Seriously, old man, you got no fucking idea what you have, and you waste it.”

Ajax thundered a growl and stomped off to his ride.

There was nothing but fury sloshing through Hawk’s tight gut.

Any other man and he’d be dead on the floor now.

He held no care for Ajax save for the fact he was Rider and Gia’s old man and killing him on her doorstep was a sure-fire way to have her kicking him out of her life for good.

You’ll be gone soon enough anyway if he tells her. The nasty little voice in the back of his skull supplied.

The most telling thing from that shitstorm exchange; Ajax never once denied his brother was sided with the bratva.

>   Hawk swallowed and continued to the front door. It opened instantly before he reached the handle.

“Mind telling me what my dad meant by he’d tell me.” Gia fired before his ass was even through the door. He shrugged out of the leather duster, tossing it back over the newel post.

  He advanced.

Eating her up with his nasty fucking eyes.

His belly locked up for a new reason.

  Burning lust low and dirty.

She was flushed in the face. Angry from whatever words she’d shared with her father.

“Nope.” He kept it short and heard her hmph with a little foot stomp.

“Hawk! I mean it. I want to know.”

“Little eavesdroppers never hear what they want to.” He said and scooped her up by the waist. She squealed, digging fingers into his shoulders to hold on.

What slither of patience he possessed flew right out of the window the moment Ajax issued his threat and now Hawk was feeling antsy under his skin.

  He knew a good cure.

And his little bit of a thing kept it between her thighs.

Two steps at a time he carried his precious cargo with her legs wrapped around his waist and her fingers buried in the back of his nape up to her bedroom.

She acted like it was normal he was carting her around. “Aren’t you going to tell me what an overbearing ass he is?”

Hawk switched his gaze to her. “Why would I do that? He’s your dad looking out for you. I’d do the same with a daughter.”

  “You’re a sweet man.”

Hawk snorted and made her turn a hot red with his blistered stare. The blush that had his dirty thoughts turned nuclear. “Hardly. Not when I’m about to eat the fuck out of you.”

“Oh…now? Right now?” Her arms banded tighter as he elbowed open her bedroom door and her sweet breath puffed against the side of his face.

Carrying Gia was a dream he never knew he wanted and now he couldn’t picture anything more picture-perfect than carrying this woman in his arms wherever she wanted to go.

Depositing her on the bed, Hawk prowled over Gia, spreading his hands up by her head. He was mindless to taste her.

Her eyes, low lidded and heavy with lust. That must he could recognize. He almost tasted it on his tongue and it drove him mad.

“Hawk. I still want to know what you talked to dad about.”

He slid off the bed, used her ankles to pull her to the end where he fell to his knees and he started to peel her out of her clothes.

“Do you want to talk, or do you want me to tongue-fuck you until you can’t breathe?”

She puffed air from her lax lips.

Her desire scorched him as he fingered her little silk panties he began to slip down her toned legs, discarding them on the floor.

His bones grew loose. He rolled his neck from side to side and stroked down over his new shaved beard.

She’d been right to clip it all off. Now he could get a good mouthful of her pussy.

  Fuck. He couldn’t wait.

He descended his head, already licking his lips.

Gia scrambled up on her hands. “Wait. Maybe we should wait to do that, Hawk. I haven't showered since this morning.” Her fingers dug into his shoulders and he hardly felt it. What with the noise roaring between his ears and his hungry tongue dry as a bone.

“I need you like this. Not perfect. Not pristine, just like this, Gia. Wet, pink and swollen. Please.” His voice came out like a croak as he nuzzled his nose to her heat and inhaled her sweet musk, his lower half rubbing the cotton of the bed to assuage the burning ache pulsing between his legs. The meat there wanted sating but first he'd eat. “Let me have this, I need it.”

His fingers crawled up the inside of her thighs, feeling how she shuddered and he took it as a good sign when she allowed her legs to fall open at the knees before shyly hooking one and then its twin over his shoulders.

Hawk felt like he could roar at the moon.

“Can I, little bit?” It was important to have the words from her.

Shyly, with a heated blush to her cheeks she stroked his jaw. He caught that finger and sucked it hard making her moan. “God. Yes, Hawk. Please.”

Shuffling both hands under her ass, he hunkered down, eyeing his prize. “Trust me that I’m obsessed with making you come. Whatever you need. However, you want it, I’ll learn it and give you it.”

“Oh, Jesus.” She moaned, and Hawk knew his cue.

  He feasted.

And he didn’t breathe for the next ten minutes or however long it took to break Gia apart.

He fed from her cries and the next one she pleaded him for more.

His shoulder blades burned from the position he’d folded himself into and the hard cock between his legs was an agony, but her sweet moans and the way she fractured apart in his mouth was music.

“Don’t stop. Don’t stop,” she begged in a voice so hoarse he knew he was to blame, what with the screaming she’d been doing. Or maybe it’s an order for him.

Either way it didn’t matter, because he had no intention of stopping now his mouth was on her throbbing clit once again. Not until she came all over his face. He wanted to be saturated in her scent, to remember every fucking second of Gia thrashing her little hips under his hands while he feasted and made her voice smoke-rough.

He felt the moment of impact hit her.

The thighs he was holding began to shake, her stomach grew hollow in little flutters, and against Hawk’s flattened tongue the vibrations of her orgasm barrelled down from her strained neck straight into his open mouth.

  He swallowed her whole.

All through her shudders he licked her tenderly until she settled panting against the pillows and Hawk sat back on his heels, winded for air with his chest smashed open and the taste of bliss in his mouth.

He let his head fall on his neck, fingers splayed on his thighs, he did the breathing thing for god knows how long.

Motherfuck. Gia had no clue she’d just killed him there on her bedroom floor with her legs dangling over his sharp shoulders, she’d killed him.

  CHAPTER FOURTEEN

“If it’s between my filthy desire or her wellbeing. I’ll always choose her.” - Hawk

  “Play a game with me?”

Hawk didn’t so much as blink since his mind raced to the dirtiest possible game he could think of. Getting her out of the PJ shorts she’d slipped into after a shower and his head lodged between her legs again.

  Addiction.

  Need.

  Depraved obsession.

All of it was pulsing alive in Gia’s living room sitting on her couch with him like a crack head wanting a toke of the pipe one more time.

Yeah, he’d play that game for a fucking month and win every time.

Whether she guessed at his thoughts, Gia cleared her throat, dipped her head.

He kept himself on his side of the room with his arms crossed.

“This or That. Have you played before?”

“Not much for games.” Now or when he was growing up.

“Then you’ll love it.” She beamed crossing her legs Indian style and his eyes strayed to her inner thighs to the finger marks he’d left there. His pulse increased. “We can get to know all about each other.”

Watching her for years, he knew everything about the little bit of a thing. She’d been his only hobby and he considered himself an expert.

Not that he was telling her that.

  Not yet.

  “Coffee or soda?”

Huh. Not what he was expecting. “Coffee. Soda rots your guts.”

  “Now your turn.”

She looked so happy sitting there with her hair pulled back and her face clean of any make-up that he would have swallowed bricks if it made her happy.

  “Red or black?”

“Good one.” She grinned. “Black. It’s very slimming. My turn! Puppies or kittens?”

He scowled confused. He wasn’t an animal person. He was barely a people
person. “Puppy, I guess.”

“Me too. I’d love to get a puppy.” Her game went on for thirty minutes. He learned she liked yellow flowers, cookie dough right from the tube and she was a fan of the Rockies.

“Do you think I'm pretty, Hawk?” She asked out of the blue, making his head explode, “like, if your friend -Not Rider- wanted to set you up with me on a blind date, and he showed you my picture, would you think hey that girl is pretty?”

The way she blinked all trusting wide eyed she was deadly serious.

The innocuous question reared up his head, grabbing him by the neck.

Hawk scowled viciously and curled his lip. How crazy was she to ask him that? He thought she was a goddamn goddess sent to earth. “Not doing this with you.”

“See, you can't even answer me!” She huffed hugging a cushion to her chest, her face pinched. “I'm obviously not pretty. I’m just a brain, overlooked by every guy. The last guy I tried to go out on a date with stood me up, he probably took one look at me and went back to Tinder. Would you have taken one look at me in my black mini dress and turned around, Hawk? Would you?”

He wanted to kill that guy. Really. Fucking. Slowly.

“You’re walking yourself into big trouble here, little bit.”

Her chin went up a notch. “What are you going to do, frown me to death? Ohhh, I’m scared.” She dared pout her lips at him. “Or something else?”

A pang sharpened in his throat. He wanted to nuzzle and lick and bite her right there where she was touching herself on the throat. He wanted to do extraordinary sweet things to that patch of skin until she mewled. She would mewl, Hawk would make sure of it.

His growl crawled across the floor, his gaze penetrating as he watched color creep up into her cheeks. He was so goddamn antsy he needed to get out of here. “If you want my mouth between your legs again you only need to ask, don’t provoke me with talk of other men.”

  ******

With her whole body on fire from one little intense stare Gia let her legs drop to the floor. In a couple of days, she’d be back in Colorado, so she was fast running out of time to cement commitment from Hawk.
