The Rebellion had been growing from strength to strength—from every race of supernatural. King Egil and his sons were presumed dead after Marek’s attack, but there were hints of suggestions and whispers of rumours that it may not be the case...

Dola had been terribly injured in the courtroom battle but had managed to find Maddy, Troy and Storm two months later. After he was forced to rest and recuperate, Dola soon became one of Maddy’s most trusted advisors. The Hunters who served under his leadership joined the rebellion and from there, dissention with the old regime was growing within the ranks.
Of course, a warrant calling for death on sight had been put on Maddy, Troy and Storms’ heads and anyone that was thought to assist them or support them in any way was labelled as a traitor and could face imprisonment or worse.
If anyone had told Maddy five years ago that she would be the leader of a resistance group wanting to usurp a dictatorial authority and bring unity and peace between supernaturals and humans, she would have laughed and said that it was too farfetched—even for one of her novels.
It was the eve of one of their biggest strikes to date. They planned to storm one of the secret psi-testing centres, where many telepaths and empaths were being held against their wills and used to manipulate other supernaturals to conform to the King Marek’s sinister agenda. It would be a true test of the resistance’s abilities and if they could pull it off, it would send a powerful message that they were here and they were a force to be reckoned with.
Tonight, though, she had been under orders from Troy and Storm—she was to relax and let them take care of her. And it wasn’t so much a request, as it was an undeniable direct order.
Troy grinned at Storm and leaned away from the bed to rummage through his bedside cabinet. Producing a small smoky-brown bottle, he unscrewed the top and held it high in the air. Maddy squealed in delight as her Troy started to drizzle the sweet, sticky syrup over her naked body, Storm leaning over her and lazily lapping it up. Her lovers took turns to drizzle and lick, until the maple syrup bottle was empty, and she was left writhing as their tongues and fingers teased and tormented her until she was begging for more of them.
They had learned that while living under a death sentence, you had to make the most out of the life that you had.
Several hours later, Maddy realised that she did miss something about her old life. She missed her writing—and made a promise to herself that once things settled down, she would start to put down on paper all the events that she’d witnessed and experienced.
Maddy smiled as she lay between the two walls of muscle that were Troy and Storm, who were fast asleep and cocooning her with their bodies. “Well, I guess the truth really can be stranger than fiction.”

LJ Halkett is 35 years of age and is a wife, mother and Housing Officer for local Government. She is a smart, sassy and highly imaginative woman who devours books - especially the paranormal genre. She is the master at multi-tasking and is always thinking ten s
teps ahead. With her passion for creativity, she brings her imagination to life in vivid detail. Family is the cornerstone of LJ’s life, and her greatest achievement is her wonderful son.
LJ was left partially sighted after a stroke and now has to write in what the authors call ‘NASA font’ and can only detect the colour red, which makes it difficult to read print on a daily basis. Her determination is a testament to her personality and as she says “Where there is a will, there is a way”.
Rhonda T Lucas is 41 years of age and divorced. She had a very successful career in Recruitment and Business Development until it was cut short due to illness. Rhonda worked in the Health Sector, Ministry of Defence and Private Sector and has a myriad of experiences to write from!
