  He stopped.

“Open your eyes, sweetheart,” he coaxed softly.

The young virgin breathed out and opened her eyes slowly, staring up at him.

“Try to relax or it will hurt,” he whispered, smiling.

Then his tongue found its way past her lips and he kissed her once more, a soft, tantalizing kiss which made her body go limp, and she sighed happily into his mouth.

She felt him slowly pushing, back and forth, into her wet vagina, his cock sending sensations up through her body in delicious waves. He was still kissing her, and she played with his tongue as it explored her mouth. She could hear their panting and blood seemed to be rushing through her ears as her heart beat louder. Becoming vaguely aware of screams and cries from outside, it was hard to tell if they were from passion or pain. Her own rapture filled her thoughts, and everything else besides her and the beautiful man who was kissing her became irrelevant.

There was a tiny pain that was its own exquisite pleasure as he gently entered her fully. She felt everything sink into a beautiful haze as her body relished the new sensations he was bestowing on her. She felt herself become more excited as he quickened his pace, watching her face all the time, slowing down slightly if she showed any sign of discomfort. He must have read the passion in her expression, as he started to thrust long and hard right into her core. She felt her own pulse race as the feeling of expectation and excitement rose within her, and his cock seemed even thicker than ever as, with a massive heave and a guttural moan, he thrust himself into her and poured his seed into her waiting womb.

She felt herself tense as he came and then she too climaxed, as he devoured her mouth in a wet, lingering kiss. He gave a huge sigh and pulled his head back. She looked up at him and was relieved to see him gazing into her face. He smiled at her. His expression looked soft and kind. She felt that she wanted to kiss him again, but he looked exhausted. Sweat was pouring from his hair down his beautiful face, and he was still panting. Between her legs she felt slightly sore. He was still inside her though he felt smaller now.

“I’m going to have to come out now,” he said quietly, studying her expression.

She didn’t quite understand what he meant.

“It might hurt just a little,” he explained softly.

“Oh, OK,” she said, bracing herself.

He smiled. “Just relax and it won’t hurt half as much,” he assured her, shaking his head.

She smiled back, seeing the twinkle in his eyes, and her body went floppy again. She didn’t even feel him withdraw from inside her, and was a little surprised when he rolled over onto his side and wiped himself with a nearby leaf. She could feel his warm body touching hers the whole time, and he held her while she snuggled back into him.

“Was it OK?” he whispered as he licked tenderly around her ear.

She felt a rush of heat go through her body again.

“That was fantastic,” she whispered back enthusiastically. “Thank you so much!”

He giggled and stroked her cheek.

“Thank you,” he replied, kissing her gently. Then, completely sated, the young couple soon fell into a sound sleep.

It was some hours later when Eban awoke to find Amaranda gone.

  Chapter 5

He sat up quickly. No sign. Her clothes were also gone. With his heart thumping, he pulled on his trousers and ran to the mouth of the cave. It was getting dark and the Sirens had all gone home to rest after their exertions. Eban emerged from the cave and looked around at the little rocky island. As far as he could see, it was just a pile of rocks, an outcrop of the main island. Apart from a few bushes, which sprung up here and there, there was no vegetation and certainly no other signs of life.

The waves gushed wildly at the front of the rocks and he could see spray rising into the air. As it grew darker the tide was coming in, and soon the causeway to Refrainia would be covered.

Eban daren’t shout for Amaranda in case anyone could hear from the main island, so he scrambled over the rocks, desperately trying to find her. Maybe she has just wandered off for a little walk.

Destiny Rock was even smaller than he had imagined, and he soon returned to the cave empty handed. He hadn’t been able to see much in the dark, but he was sure she wasn’t there. She’s gone!

Feeling more miserable than he had ever imagined possible, the young sailor climbed into the cave and settled back on his bed of leaves. There wasn’t much left of the fruit which Amaranda had so kindly brought him yesterday, and he was ravenous. Munching on a large apple, he started to weigh up his options.

“Either she’s got cold feet and left me,” he said aloud, “or she’s had to return home for some reason and will be back soon.”

That sounded reasonable. Yes, he could live with that—well, the second option anyway! The first was making his stomach churn. He had just made love with this gorgeous woman, a woman who he wanted to take home and stay with for the rest of his life, but what if she didn’t feel the same way about him? What if all she wanted was sex? She said that her people gave sex to sailors so they could rob them—what if that was all she wanted from him? No, that couldn’t be it. She had nothing to gain from him. Also, she was a virgin. She didn’t want to be like the other Sirens, who were nothing more than prostitutes! Amaranda was not like them at all. She had told him she didn’t want to be. He felt sure that her feelings had been genuine. She really seemed to like him. Though they had never actually spoken of their feelings toward each other. What if I have got her all wrong?

Wallowing in misery, Eban curled up on the bed of leaves and tried to sleep. He kept waking in the night, thinking he heard noises. Was she back? Was there some kind of creature out there, maybe crawling up from the sea? He shuddered. The air was warm as always, but he felt cold. He took a spare Elmwood leaf and wrapped it around him, squeezing himself into a ball. He soon realized that the cold was actually from deep inside him. That same place where he had felt so hot earlier that day, as if boiling lava were bubbling up inside him as his passion rose for the beautiful maiden he had made love with. Then it had felt warm, soothing like hot milk. It had been a comfortable, cozy feeling as she had lay in his arms, soft and sated.

“This must be what love feels like,” he murmured aloud.

He suddenly realized that he never wanted to be apart from this woman. His heart was aching and he felt sick without her. The world had suddenly become cold and cruel, and he didn’t want to be a part of it. Tomorrow I must find her!

  * * * *

Arriving back at her little hut on Refrainia, Amaranda had gone straight to her bed to cry. It had already been getting dark when she had crept from the cave and left Destiny Rock, so no one had been around to see her. It was a good job, too as she didn’t have a ready excuse for not arriving for work today, and questions were bound to be asked when no one had found her at home!

All of that didn’t seem to matter now. Nothing mattered. She was shrouded in a cloak of despair. She had met the most amazing guy, who had made love as though it had really meant something to him, and now she couldn’t be with him! Worse than that—she was supposed to kill him! Never!

She ran to the bathroom and was physically sick. This thought had, of course, crossed her mind when she first saw the Sirens kill their prey, but she had dismissed it afterward. Eban had not been her prey! She hadn’t had sex with him! Were things really any different now? She hadn’t preyed on him, and they hadn’t had sex like the Sirens, surely, they had made love.

Love? Is that what she was feeling? Is that why she was already missing him so badly it hurt? Is that what this ache was in her heart? Is that why she felt so wretched?

She cleaned her teeth and took a shower. As she rubbed the floral soap over her body she remembered the feel of Eban’s hand on her and she shivered. He had been so gentle and caring. He had been her first sexual experience, and she couldn’t think of ever having anyone else. She wanted to be with him forever. They ha
dn’t spoken the words, but she firmly believed that he had felt something for her. How would he feel now that she had left? Would it matter to him? Did she matter to him? Tears flowed down her face as she made her way back to her lonely bed. It’s all hopeless!

Before the sun rose the next morning, Amaranda had begun gathering food from her cupboards to take to Eban. There was a fish pie in her cold cupboard, and some fruit griddle scones in the pantry. She also found plenty of biscuits and some lemon drink. Stuffing them into an old basket that had been salvaged from a ship some years ago, she made her way toward the causeway. She picked fruit and berries as she went, adding them to the bounty. Even though I can’t be with him, I couldn’t let him starve!

Her mind was racing as she neared the shore. Although she desperately wanted to see Eban, she didn’t know what to say to him. She couldn’t explain that she was supposed to kill him. If she didn’t bring him the food he would probably die of starvation anyway! Either way she had to bring the food over. Perhaps their plan to escape might work? Was he really serious about that? Maybe I could just leave the food and run!

Her plans were thwarted when she reached the causeway. Through the semidarkness she could just make out Eban’s muscular frame. He was already halfway across it, walking toward her!

“What are you doing?” she whispered in astonishment.

“Coming to find you,” he replied nonchalantly.

“But you’ll get killed if anyone sees you!”

She rushed toward him, sloshing through the water, as the tide was still on its way out.

“Go back before anyone comes,” she urged, trying to push him backward.

His body felt like a boulder before her, totally unmovable. He chuckled at her attempts.

“I’m not going anywhere without you,” he said adamantly, standing firm.

“But…OK I’ll come with you,” she blurted out. “We have to hurry though, it’s getting light.”

He took the basket from her and swept her up in his arms.

“Hey—what do you think you’re doing?” she gasped.

“Making sure you don’t cut your feet,” he replied. “Some of those rocks are quite sharp and you’re not wearing boots!”

She giggled as he gallantly carried her all the way back to the cave and set her down on the makeshift bed.

“What’s so funny?” he asked, as he laid her back and snuggled beside her.

“Boots,” she said, “can you imagine boots with a bikini?”

Eban chuckled. “No, I see your point,” he said, “but you might need them and some clothes if we ever get off the island. It can get quite cold out at sea, you know, and you can’t go around in bare feet on the main lands.”

She looked up at him, surprised. “Really? You wear boots on the land? Why?”

“It’s not all soft grass and sand,” he said, “and some of the rocky areas are more jagged than you have here. You don’t know much about life away from this island, do you?”

“No.” She shrugged. “We never leave here, so we don’t need to learn a lot about it.”

Amaranda took a large plum from the basket and nibbled at it. Eban sighed and put an arm around her shoulder.

“I wasn’t sure you’d come back,” he said slowly.

She stopped eating and looked at him, stunned.

“Neither was I,” she told him truthfully. “I didn’t know what to do.”

“Why did you leave like that?” he asked, turning to face her. “I was worried.”

Amaranda’s soft cheeks turned bright red and her eyes filled with tears. She tried to get up from the bed but he held her firmly.

“Talk to me,” he coaxed softly. “Tell me what the matter is.”

“I–I can’t,” she spluttered as the tears overflowed and ran down her face. “I have to go.”

She tried again to push herself up from the bed, but he held her with strong hands.

“Easy,” he said gently. “You’re not going anywhere until we’ve talked.”

Amaranda gave way to loud sobs and she hugged his shoulder as he held her tightly.

“It’s all right, sweetheart, take your time,” he soothed. “You can tell me when you’re ready.”

Amaranda didn’t think she would ever be ready. She sobbed and sobbed, almost choking on her tears. Eventually she calmed down and snuggled into the comfort of his touch. Eban was very patient as he held her, stroking her back, her hair, and her arms. He soothed her with his quiet voice, whispering and coaxing her.

“Are you ready to talk?” he whispered as she lay quietly in his embrace.

It had become quite light now, and she knew she had to get this over with before the Sirens came to work. It was now or never!

“You have to realize that I didn’t know exactly what was involved in being a Siren until I watched them two days ago,” she began, fighting a large sob at the back of her throat.

Eban nodded, giving her a go on look.

“They only teach us so much in lessons, I didn’t know there was so much more to it, so much horrible stuff!”

Tears ran down her soft, red cheeks again, as she recalled the horrors she had witnessed, and she shook her head, wondering how on earth she could explain it to him. Eban put his arm tightly around her shoulder.

“None of this is your fault, sweetheart,” he said gently. “Just tell me what we’re up against so we can sort something out.”

  That sounded good although impossible!

“We—they—entice the sailors toward the island with their singing, knowing they will wreck their ships on the rocks below. Then they give them what they want, you know, sex, and then they lull them to sleep with more singing.”

She paused to take a deep breath. Eban nodded at her encouragingly.

“Sirens don’t have orgasms when the men do, they get excited afterward. Then, in their fervor they grow beautiful golden wings and talons. They kill the men and drop their bodies into the sea!” Amaranda burst into tears, forcing the last sentence out of her mouth.

Eban held her closer, but a horrified expression crossed his face.

“So that’s what you meant when you said the sailors had gone!” he exclaimed.

She nodded as she wept in his embrace. “I’m so sorry,” she cried, getting up from the bed.

Wiping her face with the back of her hands, she pulled from his arms and went toward the cave mouth. He reached her in one stride and grabbed her arm, stunned.

“What are you doing?” he demanded.

“I have to go,” she said, sniffing, not daring to look at his face, “and you should find a way to escape before they find you. If you can hide until dark, you can take the boat from the far side of the island, but be careful.”

She turned to go but he held her tight.

Looking back at him quizzically, she said, “I know you must hate me. It’s how we live. I have to do it, I have no choice.”

“No!” His shout resounded around the cave. “You are not like them, you could never do that! You will come with me, I will take you away with me tonight!”

His voice was firm. Unquestionable. His mind was made up. Amaranda stared into his deep blue eyes, astonished.

“But I thought you would hate me,” she gasped. “I didn’t think you’d want me now.”

Eban lifted a hand to stroke her cheek, carefully wiping the tears that were still pouring like a river down it. She could see his stern expression relax as he spoke to her.

“Of course I want you, sweetheart,” he said softly. “You’re no more a part of this than I am. You do want to come with me, don’t you?”

“Yes!” she exclaimed with a gasp. “But—can we really leave?”

He sniggered. “We’ll certainly try,” he said adamantly.

She snuggled into his strong arms. It had become her favorite place to be. Her safe place. Her whole body slowly relaxed in his embrace.

  Then the Sirens’ song began…

  Chapter 6

Eban held her hand and led her back to the bed. She was watching his face, warily. He looked back and smiled.

“It’s OK,” he told her. “We’ll be fine here.”

He took the basket and offered her a biscuit as they began their picnic. The beautiful melody filled the air outside, and they couldn’t help but listen.

“I wish I could sing like that.” Amaranda sighed wistfully.

“I bet you sound better than them,” Eban said, stroking her arm.

She looked at him, amazed. It was beyond her grasp to understand that he preferred her to the women outside. He caught her gaze and chuckled.

“You are beautiful, inside and out,” he said, caressing her cheek. “I want to be with you always. Do you understand that, Amaranda?”

Before she had a chance to reply, he bent forward and kissed her luscious mouth. His tongue circled her succulent lips before gently dipping inside, seeking her own tongue. Their kiss became more passionate as the haunting song surrounded them, and he pushed the basket to one side to lay her back on the bed.

Amaranda sighed deeply as she felt the fire start to smolder in the pit of her stomach again. Her nipples felt tight, and she felt like she would burst out of her tiny bikini bra. She could feel his hot hands roam up and down her body, and she relaxed, relishing his touch. Eban licked her neck and she shuddered. She felt a tingle as his tongue ran down onto her breast, and he pulled the material down to expose her heaving bosom. She gasped as he took her in his mouth, nibbling around her nipple and sucking at her breast. This feels like nothing on earth!

“You’re so gorgeous,” he murmured as his hand strayed into her panties, stroking her wet pussy.

“Eban!” she cried as the heat shot through her body. She wanted this sensation to last forever.

He removed her bikini bra with one hand and suckled her other breast, causing her to moan ecstatically. She could feel herself flooding down below, as the tingles in her breasts gave way to a feeling almost like pain as he sucked hard. He kissed her mouth again, and she gazed longingly into his deep blue eyes, noticing how much darker they became with his arousal. Her hands tangled in his hair, and then one hand ran over his shirt as the other stroked his cock through the fabric of his trousers.
