The fact that she was able to use the ring’s magick to remove her aging glamour meant that she would have no problems entering the realms. She had much to do to make sure that Nia was able to fulfill her fate with as little resistance as possible and if not with as much help as possible. And then there was the issue of Marguerite. She had to know the truth about Deirdre but all in due time.

. “You two are destined to reunite the realms. We have been separated and at odds for nearly a century. We will discuss this further but Nia I need to give you this before I forget.” Aunt Amarie held out one of her hands palm up and raised the other to snap her fingers.

A small black velvet box sat in her hand and she walked towards Nia with a smile. She gave her the box and Nia opened it slowly. It was a deep hot pink garnet set in black gold and it was stunning. It was the unlike any other ring that Nia had ever seen.

  “What’s this for?” Nia asked.

“Well sweetie, you put it on.” Her aunt encouraged with a grin.

Aaron laughed as Nia just stared at it for a moment longer and she laughed too even though she felt odd just touching it.

Slipping it on slowly she expected to be taken into a dreamscape. So she braced herself and Aunt Amarie looked at her questioningly.

“Is something wrong dear?” her aunt asked her finally. “Um no I just... oh, never mind.” Nia said with a smile. “That ring will work for you just like this one.” Aunt Amarie said and looked at the ruby on her finger.

Aunt Amarie took a seat in a high back chair and crossed her legs looking regal in it. “Now there is much to discuss such as your promise ceremony. I am thinking perhaps it needs to happen when things stabilize a bit. They are going to be in an uproar for a little while.” she said looking at each of them pointedly.

“But don’t worry I will take care of things in the realm and you need to take care of each other. I will speak with your father as soon as possible and in a month or so you and Aaron will move into a home with Eric and Avery. Lilith cannot know that I have released from my glamour. I have bound those I do not trust that have come with you to silence on my being free.” She paused.

“Do you have any questions?” she asked them.

Nia looked at Aaron then at her great aunt. “This is a lot I’m not sure I know what to ask first. I have a feeling this is going to be a long conversation.” She said to Aunt Amarie who nodded then looked at Aaron, he smiled and squeezed her hand.

“Yes indeed. Princess.” Amarie confirmed smiling lovingly at her great niece.

Their long conversation had been so long that Savannah and Celia had come into the room and given them all a pulse of relaxation and renewal. They talked and questioned and answered until it got to be too much for one day.

Aunt Amarie retired to bed for the night promising three more days at the safe house to share as much with Nia and Aaron as possible. They told her goodnight and went looking for the others.

They found them in the kitchen all seated at a large table and Rhea bolted from her chair nearly knocking it over. Nia thought for sure she was going to be tackled to the ground but instead Rhea wrapped Aaron in a bear hug.

“I am so glad you are okay, I thought Nia would never be okay again!” she said looking at her best friend.

Nia rolled her eyes. “Was I really that bad?” she asked and they all laughed.

After some dinner and conversation Avery and Eric dismissed themselves from the room and Savannah and Darragh left shortly after.

They were leaving in a few days to head back to Texas and Aunt Amarie was going to meet with Nia and Aaron every night until their curiosity about who they were was satisfied.

Rhea and Adam, who were now bound to silence, were shocked at what Nia and Aaron were. It was unbelievable, they never even thought that type of thing existed. Isabel left the room last after helping Celia with the dishes. Celia was drying the last dish and placing it in the cabinet when the four of them decided to turn in as well.

Nia hadn’t forgotten her promise to Isabel they would have to make plans to get Brennan out soon so she needed to let Eric know so he could help.

  Epilogue

After readying themselves for bed Nia crawled under the covers next to Aaron exhausted more mentally than physically. She needed a break and soon seeing as her mini vacay had turned into one crazy ride.

“So? How are you handling all of this?” Aaron asked twirling a strand of Nia’s long black hair around his finger. Nia thought about it for a moment, it would definitely take getting used to.

It was a relief knowing, even though it was unbelievable and sounded crazy.

“I think I am handling it as best as I can. I just don’t think I can say it out loud.” she confessed with a giggle.

Aaron loved hearing her laugh, he had missed her so much in his inescapable darkness. She looked at him questioningly and he quickly shifted and she pressed her palms flat and her back into the bed. He placed a hand on either side of her hovering just above Nia looking deep in her eyes.

She giggled again and he let out a laugh then let out a deep sigh that resembled a moan. He kissed her cheek softly making his way to her beautiful lips. Lips that he missed very badly.

Nia pulled away breathless and looked at him. She was so happy that she didn’t lose him she had no doubt that in losing him she would have lost herself. She felt like she was the luckiest girl on the planet right now. Here with the love of her life, the love of her forever.

Her fate and her future she had no doubts anymore. Nothing mattered but him and what she was born to do.

Something did happen when she placed the ring on her finger she was certain. In that moment she felt the importance of her fate. It was so much bigger than her and she would do whatever she had to do to fulfill it. Reaching up she laced her fingers behind Aaron’s neck and he smiled making his dimple deeper. She pulled him close and kissed him again. It would all be okay she could do anything with him by her side.

Aaron winced when he felt a twinge where his new scar was and laid back down beside her. She cuddled up and sighed taking her favorite spot.

“I think you should say it.” he told her in the dark.

  “What?” she asked then yawned.

“Say what we are.” He said then kissed her forehead.

Nia huffed and giggled once more.

To say what they truly were, what he nearly died for them to find out. They said it at the exact same time laughing at the fact that even if they could tell anyone, who would believe them?

She had a lot of information to digest and they had some hard things ahead but together it would be okay, it had to be.

Nia felt so weird saying it out loud like maybe Aunt Amarie wasn’t crazy after all, she just knew all along what she had been forced to hold inside. Nia said it one more time in a whisper before closing her eyes hoping for a dreamless night.

  “Faerie.”
