“See! You attracted a creeper!” I gestured to Niklas wildly which only make Liam laugh.

“I think you did that all on your own.” He winked at me.

“Oh no. You cannot blame this on me. We moved out here and he started acting like a freaking creeper. I blame you. Everything is your fault.” I said dramatically.

“Dia!” Kara cried. “I know you well enough to know that you’re being somewhat serious.” Kara narrowed her eyes at me. “And that’s not a very nice thing to say to my boyfriend.”

“Well he’s not very nice!” I huffed.

“Maybe we should talk about something else…” Liam offered.

“Like what? Your lack of intelligence?” I stuck my tongue out at Liam and Kara rolled her eyes.

  “Where’s Jade?” Kara asked.

I paused in my almost Liam rant and looked at her slowly. “I have no idea.” I answered honestly.

“That’s not like her. Not to show up to school the first week…” Kara commented.

“Maybe we should call her.” I suggested.

“That might be a good idea.” Liam offered.

And that was that. A lovely lunch of snarky comments to Liam and wondering where the other member of our friend group disappeared off to.

I hope she shows up. I kind of need another single person to side with me.

  7:01 pm

Dinner, dinner was a disaster. First of all dad decided to show up tonight for dinner and not only did he show up… he showed up with guests.

Now, if you have gathered any information at all about my mom, I think you would be able to guess that she freaked out.

  So we ordered take out.

  Score. k+1+2

Apparently the people that my father invited over were a big deal so my mother, being the mother that she is nearly had a heart attack because the house was “a mess.” you know that thing that mothers do when there is a throw pillow or a blanket out of place? Yeah, my mom did that… it was a mess because I left a cup on the counter.

Always my fault because I’m the kid and the kid is the default person blamed in every situation ever.

Not only that but her hair was a mess and she was not dressed properly. Just brush your stupid hair mom. And honestly who cares about you dumb designer shirt?

I guess she was born in the middle ages because I don’t think there was anything wrong with her attire. She was wearing a skirt… That’s dressy enough, right?

  I on the other hand…

Let’s not talk about that, on to the guests.

If you haven’t guessed by now, a certain somebody showed up… Liam’s brother. And not just Liam’s brother but some chick… I never caught her name but I am guessing she is important.

After my mother was done freaking out I sat there bored out of my mind, listening to the “adults” drone on… formalities… when it hit me.

“You’re here to make a deal aren’t you?” Liam’s brother, whose name is Seth by the way, did not at all seem shocked by my forwardness but, you guessed it, my mother did.

“Natasha!” My mother’s outrage was quite apparent and it took a lot for me not to roll my eyes at her.

“Yes, yes I am.” Seth was not shy about it. A quality, I’ll admit, I liked about him.

“If this has anything to do with me, count me out. No deal. You can just forget it right now.” I wanted to say but I didn’t. I hoped that my father hadn’t spilled the beans about my… talents to Seth or anyone for that matter.

  “Big shocker.” I said instead.

“Dia! Go to your room.” If looks could kill I’m sure I would be dead twice and my father about 12 times. I think my mom needs meds…

And that is what leads us here… In my room, slightly bored and probably grounded for life.

  Lucky me.

Chapter 4: Demon Lore is Weird

  Friday Aug 24th, 2012

  12:34 pm

  So… Demons guys! They’re weird.

I was doing some research last night because I’m a nerd like that… about demon deals as to better understand what my father wants from Seth. Also because Seth is shady…

Sometimes demons are not the bad guys. There have been instances where demons have helped humans rather than hinder them. Or try to take their souls… which I find freaky. Does that mean they want something more… like the world? Why would they help humans? Who knows…?

Maybe I should follow what’s his Ockham’s razor… The simplest solution is usually the right one… or however it goes which means that they were probably good guys and turned from the dark side to go to the light…

That was sort of a joke because I am funny.

DOES THAT MEAN SETH IS POTENTIALLY A GOOD GUY? Weird.

  1:21 pm

My parents were fighting in the kitchen. I knew it had to be about the deal so I went downstairs to listen in and I’m not quite sure what I heard… Here’s a snippet:

“It was him, wasn’t it? You let him get into her head.” My mom was vehement.

“Look, I made-“ my dad couldn’t defend himself.

“How could you, she’s our daughter. You know what the likes of him will do with her?! Her power! Do not let this get out of hand.” My mother threatened my father and brushed passed him and out of the kitchen.

Oh. My. Gosh. I know what I heard… I know what that was about now.

I had a dream last night. I had a dream I was dancing in a masquerade. And Seth showed up. I knew it was him without seeing his face.

“What are you doing here?” I asked him when he took my hand to dance.

“You summoned me here.” He stated simply.

I was stunned for a second.

“Yes, yes I did.” I bluffed “I want to know what you’re planning with my father. Why is he making a deal with you?” I asked him boldly as he twirled me about the dance floor.

“Don’t you want to know what the deal is?” He smirked down at me suggesting that I had something to do with it.

“I don’t want to know if you’re not going to tell me.” I whispered vehemently.

Demons were manipulative, they played games. There was something that he wanted, something that he wanted enough to manipulate my father into making a deal.

“What is it that you really want?” I attempted to give him a rather hard stare. Who am I kidding? He’s a demon people have given him worse looks.

His laughter tipped me off to that fact.

“You.” I hoped he wasn’t serious. But because I couldn’t tell I decided not to take it seriously at all.

“Yeah well, we can’t always get what we want now can we?” I huffed and turned away from him slightly irritated with the tricks of demons.

  The scene changed.

  2:32 pm

He knows, he knows everything, he knows what he shouldn’t and I know who told him. How is it that I cannot keep the one secret I want to keep most? It was my dad. He told Seth that I… I’m not exactly human and I’m not exactly like my parents either.

That was why Seth was in my dream. Well, that and I managed to summon him there to find out what he wanted and I think I have an idea.

But first, I should probably finish my dream.

After the ballroom/ masquerade scene my dream shifted. I was sitting on a swing that was hanging from a tree. I swung slowly back and forth. The only thing around us was the tree. The rest was white.

“Natasha, you don’t understand, it’s not about your power…” Seth trailed off.

I’m not sure how we got on the subject. I’m not even one hundred percent positive as to have he knew about my powers but I put two and two together and figured it was my father.

“What does he want?” I demanded to know even though I knew I wouldn’t get a straight answer.

“It’s not about that either.” If I didn’t know any better I would say that Seth was getting frustrated but I knew that demons played games.

“He doesn’t want to be human. He never has. Is that wha
t he wants, is that what it’s about?” It felt like an epiphany. I should have known better.

“Dia. This is about you.” He deadpanned.

He was about to say more but I couldn’t hear it. I could hear nothing. I could only feel a pull as I was being lifted from my dream and into the real world.

I hate it when that happens. Just as I was about to find out some half way decent information I am pulled out of my dream. Probably by my alarm clock… that I forgot to turn off. I’m feeling slightly retarded right now.

You know what…. I’m going to find him. I’m going to find that annoying demon and find out for myself. I can actually use my power on him… That is if he isn’t strong enough to counter it.

  9:54 pm

It was me… My dad made a deal with a demon for me. My mom is going to be real happy about this one. Frick, this is not going to turn out well. Actually, I don’t have to tell her. Yeah, I won’t tell her and I will just act surprised when the day comes.

Oh man, this is all sorts of messed up. Maybe I should explain what happened.

Seth was easier to find than I thought. All I had to do was find Liam and wam bam thank you ma’am, there he was!

Liam, being the good friend he is, thought I was there for him and promptly ran away… well kind of. The point is Ian managed to disappear. So here I am… with Seth. Alone. Don’t get me wrong, it’s what I wanted but it is also a little weird when your friend runs the f away from you.

So I start interrogating Seth and he pretty much just laughs at me and tells me that he’s old as dirt and I couldn’t do my little tricks on him if I tried.

So I did, try I mean.

I failed hard core. So I continued with my interrogations when he suddenly reveals that the deal was not for my father’s soul but instead the deal is for me! I’m like what kind of father would do that to his kid, oh I don’t know, the kind that is absent her life? Asshole.

Seth then began turning the tables on me and started trying to be all charming like to get information out of me. And you know what he wanted? He wanted to know about freaking Niklas! As if I know anything about Niklas! All I know is that he was being weird towards me and then pretty much just disappears off the face of the earth but when I told Seth that he got all suspicious and pulled a Liam and disappeared.

What the F is wrong with these people? I mean first we have weirdo Liam who is practically kidnapping my best friend and disowning us as friends. Then we have insistent yet ever disappearing Niklas who has no idea what he wants besides someone to play with. (Or at least that is my theory since he still thinks I’m human).

And finally we have my father and Seth, both who love to make me run around in circles trying to solve mysteries that don’t want to be solved.

There has to be something more going on with this. And what is this whole deal with Niklas and Seth…?

  Suspicious if you ask me.

Chapter 5: Seth is an Ass hat

  Saturday August 25th 2012

  2:32 am

It will be fun she says. His brother is cute she says… She never mentioned that his (not) brother was a demon who liked to hit on random unsuspecting chicks… (Oh yeah, did I mention they’re not biologically related? They’re not.)

Demons make me crazy because they’re totally bipolar. One moment they’re all “I made a deal for you!” Then the next they’re hitting on you pretending to be normal.

“You do know that I’m like 17, right?” I raised an eyebrow at him.

“And?” He raised an eyebrow at me. Why was he messing with me?

“And isn’t that illegal or something?” It really was… well, I guess flirting wasn’t but the other thing… yeah totally illegal.

“We’re not having sex, doll.” He smirked at me.

He needs some medication to fix his weird bipolar disorder. Or I just need to figure out what the hell he’s playing at.

“Of course not. I just said it was illegal.” I replied. I had to get my point across somehow.

“Just clarifying for you, young one.” He laughed. I kind of wanted to punch him…

“So what do we do now? I mean Liam and Kara ditched us…” I rolled my eyes. They always did that. I seriously think couples should not try to set up their single friends. It’s dumb.

“I’ve got a few ideas.” Seth smirked at me. A look I really did not like. I mean when a guy smirks at you it can’t mean anything good, can it?

“I don’t like that look on your face right now…” I narrowed my eyes suspiciously at him.

“Come with me. I want to show you something.” He nodded his head to the left. I figured I was meant to follow him that way.

“What?! No. You’re being totally creepy and weird.” I pointed out. He would have to pick me up and carry me if he wanted me to go anywhere alone with him.

“Well I’m not going to kill you and we’ve already established we’re not having sex. So I think you know that it’s totally harmless.” He winked. Stupid ass hat.

“Ugh…” I groaned. “Fine, whatever.” And I followed him. “Let’s do this.” I guess I just need some random words and I’m convinced…

So I followed him like the dumb ass I am. Why do we always ignore our better instincts?

“Where are we going anyways?” I asked him when he led me out the door and to his car.

  “Somewhere special.” He dodged.

“You have somewhere special? That is very specific and somewhat surprising.” I cleared my throat. “I mean I really love that place. It’s super cool.” I replied sarcastically.

I guess my tactic didn’t work because he didn’t respond. He certainly didn’t tell me where we were going, or why we were going there for that matter.

We arrived at some place that would probably be the make out place after dark. It over looked the city, slightly romantic (which was freaking weird) and very creepy.

“Now I really think you’re going to kill me.” I replied slowly.

“Not likely.” He winked at me, which didn’t reassure me.

“So why are we here?” I glanced at my surroundings. He had to be lying about something… right?

“You wanted something to do.” He gestured to the view. “So here it is. Something to look at.”

“Seriously. That was the best that you could come up with? A view?” I wasn’t really impressed. I think normal girls would be swooning by now but me… not so much.

  “It works on normal people.”

“Sure it does bro.” I sighed. “So why is this so special?” I might as well cooperate if I was going to be stuck with him.

“Have you seen the view?” Yes, yes I have seen the view. I was looking at it.

“I’m looking at it right now.” I raised an eyebrow at him. “Is this your thinky spot or something?”

  “Or something.” He smirked.

“TMI, bro… TMI.” I shook my head at him. He laughed at my discomfort.

As if things weren’t weird enough some dude showed up. And he looked at me funny and just picked me up like a sack of potatoes and threw me over his shoulder and started running. If that wasn’t the most frightening experience of my life I don’t know what was. He was kidnapping me for goodness sakes.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” I yelled and punched him in the kidneys which for some reason did not work.

The thing about being right all the time is that no one ever believes you when you when you state the obvious. Seth did not believe me when I said something bad was going to happen so therefore something bad was going to happen. I should have realized that sooner.

“Put her down!” I could hear Seth yelling over his shoulder as he perused us.

“You’re not helping!” I cried. Why wasn’t he like fighting this guy off or something?

So the guy did what Seth said… and he put me down. Down the cliff which was much more frightening than being kidnapped. I was free falling out of the sky for goodness sakes.

  “OH MY GOOOOOOODDDD!!!” I scr
eamed as I plummeted towards my death.

And then I did what any normal person would do. I closed my eyes as tight as I could because, seriously who wants to watch the ground come closer to their face?

Suddenly I stopped. What was this, a Jedi mind trick?
