And I hung up on him.

  I’m awesome.

Chapter 8: Stop trying to kill me, bro.

  Wednesday Sep 5, 2012

  1:43pm

Vampires are a pain in my ass, especially the ones that are trying to kill you.

Not that the dude failing at killing me is a vampire…. It’s just they tend to try to kill you… often. For you blood… if they’re evil.

I mean who is this ass hole and why is he trying to kill me? I am a perfectly… seemingly normal girl. I don’t know why someone would want to kill me but they’re doing a really poor job.

I take that as an insult.

I mean I am important right? Why doesn’t he just brain wash me or something instead? Can you even do that? Is that a thing?

  Maybe I should explain more…

Over the weekend I managed to get out this impending date. Not because I’m magical or anything but because some tried to kill me… again. I mean seriously. Whoever has a hit out on me is really terrible at hiring bad guys.

Anyways, I finally got a hold of Kara to hang out with me. With Jade doing… whatever it was that she was doing I wanted at least one of my best friends to hang out with, mostly because I was bored but also because I kind of wanted to get her away from Liam for a little while.

“So what are we doing today?” Kara asked as she sat down on my couch.

“Oh, I don’t know. I thought we could go mini golfing or something.” I suggested with a shrug.

“Sure, why not.” Kara said back. “As long as we’re not getting ourselves into any trouble.” She gave me a pointed look. Like I would get myself into trouble anyways.

“Yeah… let’s go.” I gestured for her to follow me out the door.

Kara drove her car to the mini gold course. A move that annoyed me a little because I somehow knew it was because she was going to meet Liam after. I mean seriously, can’t couples spend time a part? Can’t they have friends?

  Apparently not.

We got out on the mini golf course and started to putt a little before I decided to drop the bomb… the truth bomb.

That sounded better in my head.

“I’m assuming you’re going to see Liam after we hang out.” I stated more than I asked Kara.

“Yeah… I am. Is it really that obvious?” She scratched the back of her head as I putted my turn.

“Well, kind of. You did drive here when we totally could have just taken my car.” I pointed out.

“Oh… I guess that was pretty obvious.” She paused and looked at me instead of tapping her ball down the course. “What do you think of him?”

“Honestly? I’m suspicious. He’s known you for how long and he’s just now proclaiming his feelings? Doesn’t that seem a little odd to you?” It really did! Kara why can’t you see that?

“What do you mean?” Her eyebrows furrowed. I would have to tread lightly to avoid making her upset so I took a moment to gather my thoughts and explain.

  “All I’m saying is that-“

The next thing I know I feel a sharp pain in my back “Ow! What the hell!” I cried out. I turned to see what the hell it was like any normal person and you know what I found? There was a freaking dark in my back. Where the hell did that thing even come from?

I didn’t really have that much time to consider it because the ground was coming to meet my face.

I passed out. So what? I mean that dart must have been poisoned or something. Or maybe it was laced with some sort of knock out juice either way… I passed out.

And when I woke up I was met with the faces of two dudes and I might have screamed a little but I stopped because A. it hurt a lot and B. those dudes were Seth and Liam.

“Sleeping beauty has pipes.” Seth winced.

“What are you doing here?” I said hoarsely. “Scratch that. What am I doing here?”

“Well, you passed out…” Seth said slowly. “And guess what.”

  “What?” I muttered darkly.

“Saved your life, again.” He smirked at me. As if I owed him one or something. In his freaking dreams.

“You really need to stop doing that.” I told him. He really did because I’m a big girl. Well, I’m kind of short but whatever.

“And you really need to stop attracting danger.” No, danger needed to stop stalking me.

I glared and him and then turned to Liam, “What are you doing here?”

“Helping out… Kara called me after you passed out and I brought you to Seth.” He said awkwardly. I think he could sense that I didn’t like him which was good… because I didn’t.

“Yeah, someone went all medieval and shot me with a dart.” I said bitterly.

“A dart that happened to be laced with poison which I was able to stop and reverse.” Seth pointed out. “You’re welcome, by the way.”

  “Thanks.” I replied reluctantly.

“Is someone trying to kill you?” Liam asked with an eyebrow raised.

“Psh, whatever. If there is someone trying to kill me they’re doing a terrible job.” I scoffed. Maybe I should become a killer and kill this dude, show him how it’s done.

“I don’t think this should be taken so lightly.” Liam raised an eyebrow at me in concern.

“I have more important things to worry about than the fact that someone is trying to kill me.” I told him stubbornly. Like princesses and ninjas.

“Ok… sure, whatever.” He put his hands up in the air defensively.

“Yeah ok!” I cried. “Now I think you should leave. The adults are going to have a conversation here.” I gestured, quite rudely for him to leave. What? I never liked the guy.

“I’m older than you.” He pointed out. I think he was mildly offended but getting used to it. I needed to up my game.

“Shoo!” I said and waved to the door.

“Alright, alright.” He rolled his eyes and walked out the door.

Meanwhile Seth looked very amused. I don’t think he was used to seeing girls manhandle his kinda little brother. But he wasn’t on my good side either…

“Don’t think that I owe you anything.” I told Seth point blank.

“You don’t. I was just doing my civic duty was your resident life saver.” He smirked at me. Stupid smirk.

“Well, cut it out!” I cried a little too loudly causing my head to throb in pain. I winced.

“Yeah, that’s going to take a day or two to stop hurting.” He said pointedly. Son of a! A day or two?! That’s dumb.

I groaned. “Why would someone try to kill me? I’m not important at all!” The loudness of my own voice did nothing to ease the pain. Maybe I’ll just tell my head to shut up… It’ll work.

“I don’t know why do humans do anything?” Seth asked with a shrug.

“So it’s a human trying to kill me? Ugh, maybe it’s someone from Niklas’s fan club, lord knows they hate me.” It was true. Those stupid chicks would do anything to get me out of the picture and apparently that anything included murder.

Chapter 9: Nice car, Bro .

  11:59 am

Look who decided to show up to school today; the wonderful Niklas. After almost a week of exile he decides to show his face again. Seriously, what is his deal, he can’t just talk to me and disappear and leave me to deal with the fall out. I mean, what kind of guy is he? A loser, that’s what kind of guy.

I am feeling a little… Yeah, I think you know what I am.

  Resentful.

So Niklas not only decides to show up at school today but he also decides, “hey… let me talk to Dia. I like her face. This will only help her in the long run.” WRONG! So, now I have to deal with the stalker Niklas and the Princess squad. Not to mention I have Liam acting like a psychopath somewhere in the background with my best friend and Seth… Well I guess he is stalking me to.

My life is beginning to get a little messy.

Ok, so… maybe it has always been messy by my standards. But I hope you know what the
y say because I don’t.

  Annnnddd I’m getting off track.

So Niklas showed up today and I honestly thought about ditching school to avoid him but he managed to find me like the little stalker he is… and then proceeded to question me about the lack of date he had the other night.

  Whoops.

“Why did you bail on our date?” He asked me rather intensely and I tried not to laugh. It probably looked like I was constipated instead.

  My facial expressions are awesome.

“I didn’t bail… I just had better things to do.” I swear I heard some dude in the background yelling out “Ooooohhhh!!!”… Like I had just burned Niklas, which, let’s be honest here, it’s true.

“I don’t believe you.” He narrowed his eyes at me suspiciously. Some girls would think that this was a smolder of sorts but I was smarter than that.

“Maybe if you called off your little fan club… the princess squad, then I wouldn’t have to ditch you.” I rolled my eyes and almost turned to walk away but then I remembered I wasn’t in a position to really go anywhere.

The look on his face changed, and I knew that look. It wasn’t one that I liked.

“Look. I don’t need a date, and I especially don’t need one with-“ He suddenly walked off. IN THE MIDDLE OF MY SENTENCE!

“HEY! Where are you going?!” I wish I could say that I was relieved that he was gone but instead I was apprehensive as to what he was going to do…

And if the Princess squad was going to kill me as a result.

  5:34 pm

Niklas drove me home. Somehow magically he got me into getting into his car. And now he knows where I live… and which room is mine. To say that I am feeling a little paranoid is not an exaggeration.

I was walking home from school like most of the humans do, because I’m pretending to be one. When suddenly he pulls up in his fancy car and while I might have been drooling slightly at the awesomeness of his car I rolled my eyes at the blatant fact that he was trying to show off… to me and whoever else was around to see it.

“Dia.” He said in his ‘you can’t resist me’ voice, “Hop in, I’ll give you a ride home.” I raised an incredulous eyebrow at him.

“I don’t think I’ll fit in there with your ego.” I replied nonchalantly. But part of me was thinking maybe I should just get in and steal his car.

He smirked, “There’s plenty of room.” He revved the engine and I shuttered a little.

Ok, so I may or may not have a weakness for his sweet car and somehow he knew that. It was like he was a mind reader which isn’t possible because that is my job… Stupid vampires

“What makes you think that I want a ride?” I did not like to lose so I kept on walking and pretending not to care that he was still following me.

“Maybe it’s all the extra books.” He looked like he knew something I didn’t. I stopped.

“You didn’t put rocks in my backpack did you?” He was a suspicious butt hole.

He laughed. Of course he did something, but you know what? I got in the car anyways because I’m a chump with a weakness for awesome cars.

And you know what I did, I lead him strait to my house, you know why? Because not only am I a chump but I am a stupid chump. Lovely.

“So, where do you live?” He asked me rather awkwardly.

  “Over there.” I gestured.

“I can’t drop you off if I don’t know where you live.” Well darn. He was right.

“Well… I could have walked I do it every day.” Stupid boys.

“Maybe I should drive you every day.” He suggested.

No. Hell no was that going to happen even if I thought he car was cool. “I don’t think so.” I paused for a minute. “You can drop me here.”

“You sure?” His eyebrow was raised. Butt hole.

“Yes. Stop and let me out.” He stopped and I jumped out without a word. I hope he didn’t actually follow me to my house. That would be awkward.

Ok… So he did. And he stopped when I got to my door. Talk about awkward.

I didn’t expect him to park the car but when he did, he got out of the car and I cursed under my breath.

  Douche.

And you know what he is doing right now? He is down stairs talking to my parents about lord knows what… wait a second. I left him, down stairs with my mother.

  8:50pm

My mother invited him to stay for diner… of course she did. He knows how to work just about every female on the face of this earth besides me. And you know what he said, yes. I’m sure you were expecting that because you should know how much he loves to torture me.

But I wonder why. Why is he going through all this trouble for a girl that only seems to spite him and very move?

I am suspicious, as I am of everyone but this is different. Seth had made a deal that I wasn’t sure about… Maybe he is suspicious as well. Maybe Niklas knows something he shouldn’t. That doesn’t help me.

My mother asks too many questions like how we met and stupid stuff like that. I mean it’s pretty obvious that we go to school together. Niklas however is a pro at buttering people up.

“Your daughter is a wonderful person, ma’am.” Niklas smirked at me as a silently fumed.

I’ll admit that I probably stabbed my food a little too violently but my mother was too impressed by Niklas to notice.

And the rest of dinner proceeded to be really awkward because Niklas is a stupid awkward boy and I hope mom doesn’t invite him back. And guess what, spoiler alert! She did.

  My life.

It’s weird. Niklas has a different sort of power about him. Where Seth can keep me from pretty much using any of my powers on him, Niklas has this sort of maze thing going on that would take forever to navigate.

There is something off about this. Why would he have this kind of defense if he didn’t know something? And how did he get the training to get this defense up.

When people divert others powers like Niklas, and effortlessly at that, it means that they have gone through extensive training. This means that Niklas is more important than I thought. Only important people get training like that. Maybe he’s too old for that.

Maybe I should have paid more attention when my mother tried to teach me about the social hierarchy.

Oh well, I’m sure it’s not all that important.

Chapter 10: Conned into a Date

  Friday Sept 7, 2012

  7:01pm

He’s at the door. Somehow, he made it to the door without my noticing and now my dad is talking to him. My dad… why does he always put his nose where it doesn’t belong, especially when I’m involved.

So, remember that date thing that Niklas was supposed to take me on but I decided to stay home instead… Well, I stayed home and did some research instead. That was last week, this week it looks like he’s not taking no for an answer. Unfortunately for me.

  7:24pm

I don’t have much time. So, Niklas came up and you know what he did? That butt hole picked out clothes for me to wear. Is this considered kidnapping? I don’t want to go with him but somehow he’s conned me into doing what he wants.

  This is just wrong.

  Saturday September 8th, 2012

  2:03 am

I think I just had the most interesting night of my life, which isn’t saying much because my life really isn’t all that interesting. But anyways, Niklas did take me out but that really didn’t last long. Why, you ask? Well, I will tell you.

So, I know I already informed you but he came over to my house and he was tricky. He basically asked my father to take me out and this impressed ol’ padre, so he allowed it. He then proceeded to barge into my room and grab several pieces of clothing and told me to get dressed, that we were going out.

How is that ok? How did he get away with that? It must be that stupid vamper charm that he has. I hate it but everyone else: they love it.

The car ride was kind of awkward. I mean I was pretty ticked off about being coned into a dat
e and he was being his stupid smug self-thinking, “hey, I got myself a new play thing.” But you can’t really play with someone who doesn’t want to play! Or can you?

He should get off his high horse and stop making people do stuff with him. He didn’t even pay me to go out with him, like a normal rich kid. I’m just kidding… about the rich kid thing, but I suppose he paid for dinner so, maybe that counts?
