Checkmate 3: Playtime's Over Page 8

“So, Monty the deal with this building not being sold yet is because the guy wants it for a lot less than what we’re selling it for. The truth is that because of the economy there haven’t been many offers on it.”

  “I understand,” he responded.

“So I’m bringing you in so that you can get through to him. My mom was handling this transaction, but she was taking way too long to seal the deal and I need this building sold ASAP.”

“Well, I’m meeting with the buyer in about an hour so can you tell me or do you even know what plans he has for this space?” He asked while walking around and looking at the beautiful layout of the floor plan.

“I know he is from out of the state, but has plans of moving here to Augusta. The only other thing that I know about the buyer is that he wants to open up the place as a restaurant or some type of sports bar.”

“This place would be the ideal place for that if that’s what he wants to do.” Monty said.

“I know and since my mom is slow poking her ass around this deal then I made the decision to step in and call you.”

  “Why me?” Monty questioned.

“You’re new to the game and it gives me great pleasure to be working with you.” This is an opportunity not only for you but for me to get to see what the new contender in the game is playing with. It’s been quite the buzz going around about you.”

“Has it been?” He questioned with a smile, thinking back at his conversation with Maurice.

“Don’t worry about it. After meeting you I can already tell that you’ll be able to survive a lil gossip in this business. Just so you know, we’re made up of our own little soap world.” She grinned. Monty smiled because he enjoyed listening to her strong southern accent.

“Okay… So what I want you to do is make this building as appealing as possible to the buyer. I don’t mind taking a hit, but I won’t take a big one.”

“Don’t worry I got this.” Monty assured her.

“I’m sure you do. I’ll let you check out the rest of the place and once you’ve closed the deal then call me.” She handed Monty her card along with a vanilla envelope that contained more information on the property. Monty liked her enthusiasm and her confidence in him. He knew there wasn’t a better negotiator out there than him no matter how long they’d been in the game. He had this in the bag.

“Thanks I’ll give you a call later this evening.” He said.

“Okay, sounds good,” she said walking toward the doors. She turned and looked at him. “It was truly nice to meet you.”

“Same here,” he responded with an appreciative smile. It was something about Susan that had Monty impressed. She closed big money deals and he wanted to be a part of that. He definitely knew that once he closed this deal that it wouldn’t be the last of their meetings.

He slowly walked around the bar running his fingers along the long sleek granite counter top bar. He smiled knowing that he’d finally made it to where he wanted to be, but was at the same time losing someone who he cared so much for and wanted so desperately to be a part of all this. He looked down at his phone wanting to call her, but he couldn’t make himself dial her number. The feel of rejection wasn’t about to ruin what was supposed to be the highlight of his day. Nothing was more fulfilling than sealing a sweet deal and most importantly making that money. He just couldn’t shake the feeling she gave him, but he knew that now wasn’t the time to fall weak to his thoughts.

Damn, Candy please get outta my head right now. His thoughts were followed by a picture perfect memory of her smile and deep dimples. Damn.

He shook his head as if clearing his thoughts. “This dude better be on time,” he whispered looking down at his watch.

  **********

Rico got out of his car and walked up to the red house door. His thoughts were on money and sex. He knew he had to tame himself, but today wasn’t the day. He felt kind of bad about just leaving his fiancé in the hospital with their daughter, but felt good that later that day he’d be bringing them home.

He knocked on the door. When Monica opened it she smiled while holding Aiden. Rico smiled back because seeing a smaller image of himself made him feel really good. He walked inside the house behind Monica, closing and locking the door up behind him.

She sat down on the couch. “Sit down will you.” She insisted. Rico looked over at her thinking that this wasn’t supposed to go down like this.

He smiled. “I thought you said he was sleep?” Monica laughed because she knew exactly how it was going to go down.

She grabbed the remote and turned down the music a little bit. “He woke up, but as you can see he’s going right back to sleep. He just likes listening to music and fortunately it’s everything I love to listen to.”

“You have that boy spoiled already, but at least he’s gonna know real music when he hears it.” He said nodding to Spanish Guitar by Toni Braxton. Monica grinned, looking over at him and winked.

“What was that for? he asked.”

“Nothing,” she said. “But you may as well get comfortable for awhile.” He shook his head and started taking his dark brown Rocawear leather jacket off. “Yeah, take that off,” she added.

“Okay, he looks sleep.” He quickly said. She laughed again, this time standing up and walking slowly past him wearing nothing but a white tee shirt that stopped right under her ass. The smell of her Pleasures had taken over his ability to think straight. He couldn’t think of nothing else but getting up in her wet insides.

Monica walked down the hallway smiling, because in her mind she knew that he was watching. Rico’s eyes was directed at the back her smooth thighs that led up to the crease right under her ass. He wanted her bad, but didn’t want to show it. She knew he wanted her bad but things weren’t going to go like he planned them to be. Come straight in, fuck, and leave. Even if he had to wait twenty minutes longer to get that ass it didn’t matter as long as she knew that he’d wait.

She walked back down the hallway and stood in front of him. Her feet spread a part a little showed the gap between her legs, making him smile inside. Rico searched her body quickly as the many thoughts, of where should he begin, flooded his mind. He was horny as hell and looking in her beautiful face was just what he needed at the time.

“I’m sorry,” she said. “You’re gonna have to wait a lil longer.”

“Why is that?” he eagerly questioned.

“Because I need to shower right quick,” she teased.

Rico shook his head. “You can’t be for real.”

She leaned in close to his face. “And what if I am,” she commented.

“But, you’re not.” He said while pulling up her t-shirt and kissing lightly on her stomach.

“I got to clean myself up first,” She said taking in the pleasure of feeling his lips softly touching her belly.

“You smell clean to me,” he responded. She grinned making him grin too.

“Did anybody ever tell you that you’re silly?” She asked grabbing the back of his head. From the moist feel of her white bikini panties he knew she was wet and ready for him. He closed his eyes and slid his finger inside her.

“I’ve been told that a few times in my life.” He whispered. The touch of her wet pussy enticed him. He kissed through her panties breathing in all the good that was in her.

“I bet you have,” she whispered back. She could feel his warm breath through her panties. It was a really nice feeling.

Rico slid her panties off, lifting her leg up as she rested her foot on the arm of the chair anticipating his next move. He dived in immediately tasting all of her juices and some. The sound of her moans lured him into sliding his tongue in and out of her creamy filled hole then back up to her clit. He had damn near drained her entire body by the time he stopped. She put her weak leg down struggling to stand straight from such a magnifying orgasm.

She smiled, looking at him taking off his beige and brown Rocawear redefined sweater. His arms and chest were perfectly c
hiseled and she ran her hand up and down his firm but smooth arm.

Rico was a very fine looking brother who Monica could clearly see herself being with. She began unzipping his pants and pulling them down. His dick was nice and erect. A perfect fit for her as she smiled.

“You made me feel like I didn’t ever want that feeling to end. Now let me make you feel the same way.” She said immediately dropping to her knees as he stood there. She took him in her mouth and wrapped her wet lips tight around the shaft of his thick dick. Pulling back slowly and going back in for the kill, had Rico on his tiptoes trying to take it all in without losing it all.

“Damn girl,” he whispered. Monica knew she had him right where she wanted him, but how long was he going to stay there. Not long enough in her mind. But a determined woman could always get whatever she wanted if she really wanted it. In due time, she thought while giving Rico the best head he’d ever had.

  **********

Mona sat in the hospital bed watching music videos on BET. Lyfe Jennings, Let’s Stay Together, played in the background. It had been about three hours since Rico had left and it was about time for him to return to pick them up.

She was excited to be starting a fulfilled life with a man whom she had fallen head over hills in love with. He was the high point of her day and now he had someone who would be sharing the spotlight with him, Caylin. She was thrilled to be a mother and a fiancé. Not a lot of people that she knew were as happy as her in their relationship.

She did have moments when Monica would make her feel a little insecure about what she and Rico shared, but he would always reassure her. It was nothing like having a man who would remind her of how much she meant to him. Rico was the best thing that happened in her life and she wasn’t giving him up for no one; especially Monica.

She looked over at the dresser when her cell phone rang. She reached over and answered. “Hey Sis,” she said.

  “Hey Sis,” Candy responded.

“Are you on your back?” Mona asked.

“Yeah, I’m headed back that way now. Mom looks great.” She said.

“Aww, did you tell her that I love and miss her so much.” Mona asked.

“I did and she told me to tell you that she loves you more and to take care of your little one.”

  “I will,” Mona responded.

“She is very happy for you and wants you to send her pictures of you and the baby as soon as you get some taken.” Candy said.

“She knows that I will.” Mona responded. “So, how are you?”

  “I’m doing good considering.”

“Yeah, I know how that can be,” Mona commented. “Did you tell your mama what happened with you and my big head brother?”

Candy grinned a little. “Yeah, I had no choice. I tried to cover up these bags from crying, but she saw right through it as soon as she looked in my face.”

Mona shook her head. “Now you know you can’t pull nothing over Miss Nancy. She is always on top of her shit; especially when it concerns you.”

“I know, but you know I tried.” They laughed. “She was sad for me, but she gave me some wise words of advice.”

“I can imagine the things she said.” Mona whispered.

“It’s nothing that we don’t already know and nothing that we haven’t already experienced.” Candy said. “I understand the fact that I can’t change Monty from being the person he is. I love him and that’s why I got to let him go.”

“I feel ya, Sis.” Mona responded.

“He is a good person, but Monty isn’t ready to commit like he should. I’m younger than him and I’m ready to settle down. For real, like what’s up with that picture?”

  “Yeah, I know.” Mona said.

“I envy you Sis, but in a good way. I so wished that Monty had the balls to propose to me. I applaud Rico for that. It tells me that regardless of what he does, he knows who he ultimately wants to be with.”

“I guess that’s one way of looking at it.” Mona agreed.

“It is. It’s just like my mama said. Monty was a player when I met him and if I thought that was going to go away because he was now with me, I was sadly mistaken. And here I sit, sadly muthafuckin’ mistaking.” They laughed, but Mona knew that Candy was hurting and she felt very bad for her.

“I tell you what… When I’m well enough we’re gonna have a ladies night out. Mama will be the babysitter,” Mona said grinning.

“Yeah, I definitely need that outing as soon as possible and I’m not taking it until you’re well enough to join me.” She said.

Mona laughed. “You betta not heifa,” she said. “Just make it here safely and call me when you get home. I’ll be to the house by then I’m sure.”

“I know and I’ll be over there to see you and my niece. I’m just stopping by my house first to get Dee and MJ.” Candy responded.

“Okay good, because I wanna see Dee. I’m glad she’s back.”

“Who you telling gurl?” Candy joked. “I am too.”

“Okay Sissy, the nurse just walked in to release us. I’ll talk to you later.”

  “Okay,” Candy responded.

  “Love you,” Mona said.

“Love you too Sis,” Candy said and ended the call.

Mona signed her release papers just as Rico entered the room. The nurse smiled and spoke as she exited.

“Hey sweetheart,” Rico said walking over and kissing Mona on the lips. She was the sexiest red bone he’d ever been with and he loved that she was all his.

“Hey baby,” Mona responded. “I was just telling myself that you would be here soon to take us home.”

“I’m looking forward to getting you home and spoiling y’all.” He said.

Mona grinned. “And I can’t wait for you to be at my beck and call.”

“Oh yeah,” he said leaning in and kissing her again. He looked in her eyes. “You do know that I love you and there is nothing that I won’t do for you and Caylin.”

Mona smiled. “I know baby and we love you too. We’re gonna be a happy family and any curve balls that are thrown at us, we’ll just dodge them.”

“You’re right about that Sweetheart.” He concurred.

“I just want us to be honest with each other.” She sincerely commented. Honesty was a serious word and both of them knew exactly what that word could do to their relationship if it wasn’t used properly.

Rico hugged her, but felt bad inside that he wasn’t being honest with her about what he’d been doing with Monica behind her back. It was like a good versus evil side of him; although both seemed to be good when he needed them to be. He loved Mona with all his heart, but something about Monica had him going. He knew exactly what she was up to earlier. He just chose to let her have that lil bit, but she was sure to pay for it later.

The nurse walked back in the room with Caylin already tucked inside her pink and white colored Graco SnugRide infant car seat. Rico smiled while helping Mona sit in the wheelchair. The nurse then placed the car seat on Mona’s lap.

“Are my two favorite ladies ready to go?” He asked.

“Hell yeah,” Mona replied making the nurse laugh.

“She is a silly one,” Rico grinned. That was what he loved about her and he didn’t want to lose her for nothing. He didn’t have any immediate plans of leaving Monica alone, but he knew he had to keep his shit tight or it would blow up in his face.

That shit ain’t happening this time, he thought. He pushed Mona and Caylin out into the hallway with a good feeling of knowing that he was bringing his family home.

  **********

Candy pulled up into her driveway. She allowed Monica’s After the Storm cd to sooth her thoughts all the way home. She cut off the engine and pulled her keys out of the ignition. She got out of the car, putting on her black jacket and walked up on her porch. All she wanted to do was to enjoy the breeze and relax. She sat down on one of the white wooden rocking chairs as it began to rock back and forth. It was cool outside, but tolerable. She put h
er chilly hands inside the side pockets on her jacket. Her black hoodie was already pulled over head as she visually scanned the neighborhood.

Her thoughts were on no one other than Monty. She couldn’t figure out why she had to be the one who suffered all the heartache in their relationship. She knew that Monty was a good guy, but being unfaithful had a hold on him and she didn’t think that she could break the spell. Wondering what he was doing at that very moment plagued her thoughts. She clinched her hands into small fists inside her pockets and sighed. Her heart was with him and it was hard to shake it, but she knew that she wasn’t going to continue to deal with his fuck-ups. She had no choice but to let him go. Funny thing was that the letting go was quite easy. The hardest part was moving on.
