  "Won't they give up?" asked Shara.

  "I doubt it," replied Per. "The goblins hate my father too much. Frontal assaults are not really goblin style. They're crafty and sneaky. I'm sure attacking from all sides was Cedric's idea. They're setting up picket lines to make sure we can't get out."

  "Eventually, we will have to leave," said Holina, cleaning green blood off one of her axes.

  "You're supposed to cut the rope before they climb to the top," admonished Per, giving Holina a stern stare.

  "What do we do now?" asked Contico.

  "We assess the damage done, figure out what went wrong, and what went right," answered the Overlord. "We then plan on how to counter their next move."

  "Your Majesty," greeted Nesbra to the Overlord. "The General and Cendri wish to see you. They are going to the throne room. I'm supposed to be on watch here."

  "I think I'll go down and check on Electana and Diti," said Per. "No one else was hurt, were they?"

  "I don't think so," replied Nesbra. "We do need to do something about their archers before one of them gets in a lucky shot."

  "I'll go and talk to the others about it," said the Overlord. "And I thought I told you to call me Ruger while we are here."
