“Absolutely, Jack. Now why don’t we shut the damn thing off before we blind someone,” Javi retorted.

The three rushed back into the room and removed the crystal sword from the altar. They stood in silence, momentarily considering the significance of the discovery. Duni turned to Javi and shook his head in confusion.

“I don’t get it? It’s not like the beacon could be seen very far, I’m guessing only a couple of miles above the pyramid, maybe a little higher at night,” he stated. “Who could they possibly be signaling?

  Javi shook his head.

“I don’t know, but I’m betting the answer isn’t too far away,” he responded cryptically.

The three walk over to the wall that held the ancient diagram. Hieroglyphics were engraved just below it. The room fell suddenly quiet as they began to translate their meaning. Within minutes, both Javi and Duni began to nod as they read. They smiled with satisfaction and mumbled agreeably. Javi finished and stared at Duni, waiting for him to complete the final hieroglyphics. Duni’s eyes suddenly widened. He turned to Javi and grinned.

“We wait on their return,” he said.

Jack stared at the two, slightly annoyed.

“What is this, a private clique or something? You two going to let me in on the big secret or keep the mystery all to yourselves?” he said, sarcastically. “Wait on whose return?” he asked.

“Sorry Jack, I guess we kind of got caught up in the excitement,” Javi replied. “Those were the last words in the statement. It appears that Zeus and Poseidon did indeed crash land and were hoping to be rescued. They built the beacon as a signal and were waiting on their comrades to return.”

“Am I missing something? We kinda figured on all that stuff already. It’s not really new. What’re you two so excited over?” Jack pressed further.

“We can’t be sure, but those hieroglyphics claim that they crashed in some kind of spacecraft,” Duni responded.

“Yeah… but that’s nothing profound. How else would they’ve gotten here?” Jack shot back in sarcastic tone.

“AND… the spacecraft is located somewhere nearby,” Javi added.

  Jack smiled.

“Now that is news,” he blurted in understanding.

Javi nodded and said, “Hence our excitement: This ride isn’t ending. It’s just beginning.”
