Her hair brushed his hands as she threw her head back. She closed her fingers around his upper arms, her blunt nails digging into his triceps. Thought threatened to recede, laid to waste by the gathering storm. But the last shreds of his consciousness refused to accept her silence, couldn’t tolerate the slow, pained breaths truncated by high-pitched whimpers.

Holding her steady with one hand, he reached between their bodies. A brief caress was all it took to make her moan.

The soft surrendering sound snapped his leash. He couldn’t stop his hips from jerking, his cock from driving into her, but he focused his final scraps of control on distracting her with pleasure. He almost groaned with relief when he felt her relax, when her pleasure-filled cries echoed around them once more. Anticipating his own descent into oblivion, he plucked her clit with his thumb and forefinger, drawing it out as he continued to fuck her hard and fast.

With a keen, she collapsed forward, her trembling descent followed soon by erratic clenches around his shaft. Darkness ate into his vision, consuming all the sparkling colors behind her before exploding in a burst of red.

Kissing Dulcina’s closed eyelids, Mikal nudged her naked shoulder. “We need to get going. The sun’s coming up.”

Murmuring a sleepy inarticulate protest, she snuggled deeper into his chest. His arm had gone numb. Though spacious, the back of his SUV was far from comfortable. Nonetheless, he couldn’t imagine anywhere else he wanted to be. “Come on. Do you want the park service to find you butt naked in the back of my car?”

She batted at his mouth, missed, and hit his neck. “Shh…. Five more minutes.”

Grabbing her hand, he bit the tips of her fingers. “If you think I’m going to fall for that trick, you’re delusional.”

When she didn’t move, he reached down and pinched her nipple. With a yelp, her eyes popped open. “You’ll so pay for that.”

Pushing her off him and into a seated position, he reached around for his pants. “Looking forward to it.”

She rubbed her crusty eyes. “Where the hell are my clothes?”

Pulling his underwear and jeans on, he climbed over the divider to search the space in front of the passenger seat. Victorious in his quest, he turned to dangle the tattered shirt and bra in front of her face.

Grumbling something about wastefulness, she tossed his T-shirt at his head. By the time he shrugged into it, she’d hooked her bra on and shoved her arms into the shirt sleeves. Squinting at him when she fumbled over the nonexistent buttons, she tied the colorful tails under her breasts before pulling on her skirt. With far from graceful movements, she zipped up her boots, the glimpses of bare skin revealed by her struggles giving him an instant hard-on.

When she climbed into the passenger seat, he grabbed her knee. “On second thought, I think we’ve got some time.”

She smacked his hand. “We’re out of condoms.”

Good point. “I can still make you come.”

Her breath hitched, her cheeks turning a pretty shade of coral. “Let’s get out of here.”

He started the engine. “Since when are you so practical?”

Buckling her seat belt, she settled in and spread her legs, the simple motion turning his morning boner all kinds of painful. He was pretty sure the little minx did it on purpose. “Any later and Shelley will wake up. If she sees me like this—”

“Any reason we’re sneaking around? We’re both adults.”

She scowled. Without an appropriate dose of caffeine, she could be quite the monster in the mornings. “Losing one friend a day to sex is my limit.”

Was she serious? Glancing at her peeved expression, he shook his head. Oh, hell. “Don’t be an idiot. Friendship trumps sex. Always has, always will. We’re just adding…a few fun activities to our joint hobbies.”

She sent him a suspicious sideways glance. “We don’t have any joint hobbies.”

He lightly smacked the back of her head. “Stop thinking so much and go with the flow.”

She twitched her mouth from side to side. It took significant effort not to pinch her cheeks. “What about this Madame Eve business?”

“Total coincidence.” He supported the lie with a firm nod. “Algorithms and all that.”

She turned to face him. “So we’re like…friends with benefits?”

If the term helped with her jitters, he could live with it for a few weeks. He stuck out his hand. “Friends with exclusive benefits.”

She rolled her eyes. “It’s not like I had much of a sex life before this, so fine.” Meeting his palm with hers, she gripped fingers and gave him a firm shake. “So what are you doing tonight?”

  ~A Letter from Tara Quan~

  Dear Reader,

Thank you for picking up the third book in my paranormal series, A Witch’s Night Out. I’ve always been a huge fan of witches and their feline friends, and I’ve had loads of fun creating my own. I keep my stories lighthearted, the angst to a minimum, and the sex just hot enough to make your face warm. In all my romances, I aim for a few laughs, a handful of clever twists, and a scorching happily ever after.

After having cat familiar Dulcina “Sweets” Gato play a supporting role in both Flirting with Fire and Frosty Relations, I couldn’t wait to tell her story. This 21-year-old recent college graduate has a smart mouth and less-than-charming personality, but her flaky façade hides a willingness to kick some major magical butt. Her fur gets ruffled by the return of Enforcement agent Mikal Knight, her best friend’s big brother. Not only does his presence make her foresight go haywire, his overprotectiveness threatens to crimp her vigilante ways. Of course, Madame Eve works her uncanny magic to get these two reluctant lovers together before fireworks go off on New Year’s Eve.

If I managed to keep a smile on your face for the past few hours, then my goal as a writer is met. I love hearing from readers, so feel free to drop me a line at taraquan@outlook.com. You can find out more about my other books and various social media haunts at www.taraquan.com.

  Flirting With Fire

Apprentice witch Catalina Gato is prohibited from assuming her human form in front of her new employer without his express permission. Since he doesn’t know he’s a warlock, he can’t give it, leaving her in a familiar’s limbo. To make matters worse, she’s barred from leaving his house, and her attempts to enlighten him of his true nature results in burnt notes, charred walls, and exploding laptops.

On All Hallow’s Eve, she gets one night of freedom. Deciding some no-strings-attached sex might take the edge off the intense attraction she feels for her clueless boss, she signs up for Madame Eve’s service. When she meets her masked mystery date at the Castillo Capital, she realizes she might have gotten much more than she bargained for.

After being gifted a one-night stand from his annoying best friend, attorney Leo Difuoco reluctantly ventures to the Castillo Capital to celebrate Halloween. When he meets his oddly familiar green-eyed date in a Cat Woman costume, flames literally ignite, sparks magically fly, and life as he knows it changes forever.

  Frosty Relations

Attorney Jack Frost never understood why holidays did weird things to people. His secretary went on vacation, his best friend ditched their annual Aspen trip, and the law firm’s stubborn human resources assistant refuses his clerical support request. What’s a warlock to do on Christmas Eve but go on a 1-Night Stand? But when an oddly familiar empath shows up as his date, this ice mage has a hard time denying the magic of the winter solstice.

Faced with an anemic employment market and financial woes, college graduate and former witch Mina Mao lands an HR assistant job at Frost and Sons. Having spent her day saving Christmas from Frost Junior’s Grinch-like behavior, she accepts the gift of Madame Eve’s service and heads over to the Castillo Capital. When her date turns out to be her childhood crush and workplace nemesis, she braces herself for the sexiest icy ride of her life.
