Worst Case Scenario Page 39

“Do I need to dust off my guns Stori? I don’t have a problem making your ex-husband join my ex-wife,” Nas warned.

“Really Naseem? I didn’t even want the nigga when I had him. I damn sure don’t want his ass now.” Stori frowned.

“Play dumb if you want to. That nigga is on some obsession shit,” Nas fumed as he pulled out of their parking space.

“What!?” Stori yelled as she fell out laughing.

“That shit ain’t funny Stori. Stop acting like you ain’t peep ole girl out. It ain’t no coincidence that you and the bitch kind of look alike,” Nas pointed out.

“I know you ain’t jealous,” Stori said as she looked over at him.

“I don’t have a reason to be. He got the Great Value version but I’m rocking with the original.” Nas smiled.

“Act like you know then nigga. Gavin ain’t no competition for nobody,” Stori said.

“Come on now baby. You know a nigga like me don’t do no competing. I would have been on my Malcom X shit if I had to. I was getting you by any means necessary,” Nas replied.

“How, when I was already married?” Stori noted.

“That nigga was just a placeholder. I had too much hoe in my blood back then to commit to anybody. He just held you down until I was ready for you,” Nas said like he was so sure of himself.

“Boy bye. I’m not a cheater. If Gavin wouldn’t have fucked up, I would have probably still been in that miserable ass marriage,” Stori replied.

“Keep believing that shit if you want to,” Nas said.

“It’s the truth. We probably wouldn’t even be together right now if Gavin wasn’t trying to be a hoe,” Stori noted.

“Picture your husband getting killed and I’m the nigga who gives you a shoulder to cry on. I’m telling you baby, this shit was happening by force or by choice,” Nas assured her.

“It wasn’t even that serious,” Stori laughed.

“You see them two lil niggas back there?” Nas asked, referring to their sons.

  “What about them?” Stori countered.

“It was very serious to me. Shit happened exactly the way it was supposed to. You spent months trying to have a baby for that nigga and it never happened. I came through there and shut shit down on the first night. Nigga gave you a two for one special,” Nas bragged.

“Shut up Naseem. I did not get pregnant the first time we had sex,” Stori laughed.

“You probably did but all of that is irrelevant right now. I got you and I didn’t have to knock a nigga’s head off to do it. I always have to be prepared for the worst case scenario though,” Nas replied.

“Go to Remo and Kalani’s house before we go home. They wanna see the babies,” Stori noted.

“We have to get Toi too,” Nas reminded her.

  “Yeah, I know,” Stori replied.

She felt better about letting Toi out of her sight since Corey and Milan were no longer a threat. Toi wanted to go by Maddie and Hannah for a little while, so they dropped her off first. She didn’t go anywhere without her dog, so she took Fendi with her. Their old house had sold the month before and an older woman now did hair in the salon. Stori got a nice lump sum of money from it that she added to her savings account. She and Nas had a joint account but he always wanted her to have a backup plan.

They were making good money with the shop and even more now that they sold hair and other hair care products. Stori’s clients loved the convenience of it all. They got their bundles from the same place where they got their hair done. Kalani was happy because she no longer worked in the store alone. Even Remo had been doing good in cosmetology school. Nas was teaching him the basics, just as Jaden had done for him, and Remo caught on quick. They were looking forward to the day when they both worked in the shop and got money together.

The strip club was still making nice money and Nas hired Eno on as an assistant manager. Bee didn’t have a title and he didn’t care, as long as he got paid. Eno still sold pills and weed for them and Stori was trying to teach Nas how to make edibles. He was trying to make sure that he and his family never went broke and he loved having different streams of legal and illegal income. He and Remo were looking to buy a few more houses to renovate and rent out as well. For the first time ever, Jarvis didn’t have to worry about his little brothers running wild out there in the streets. He had Stori and Kalani to thank for that and he loved them both.

“Damn baby. We got five more months to plan for their first birthday. That time passed fast as hell,” Nas said as he drove to his brother’s house.

“I know. I haven’t even played around with any party ideas yet,” Stori replied.

“I really don’t want them to have a party right now. They’re too young to really understand all that shit. Let’s go on a cruise or some shit,” Nas suggested.

“They’re too young for that too,” Stori pointed out.

“Yeah but I’d rather spend money traveling than on a party that other people will enjoy more than they will. The only time I ever travelled was when I was in jail. That shit don’t even count because I was still in Louisiana. I want my boys to have it all,” Nas said.

“Okay baby. We can go somewhere for their birthday,” Stori said as they pulled up to Remo’s house. They weren’t surprised to see that Jarvis was already there. He made it a point to see his nephews every day and he didn’t care where they were. When Nas parked, he turned to Stori and grabbed her hand.

“I love you baby. Never in a million years did I picture my life being as good as it is now. I was content with cutting hair and selling dope for the rest of my life. Being with you made me want to be a better man. I can honestly say that this is the first time that I’ve ever loved somebody with my whole heart. Other women don’t even exist to me because I’m so happy with you. My only regret is that we didn’t do this sooner and have more years together,” Nas said as tears spilled from Stori’s eyes.

Nas told her that he loved her all the time but he never got that deep. Not only was his words heartfelt and genuine but his facial expression was too. Everybody was always saying that he was mean but Stori didn’t see him in that light. She saw the softer side of him as a husband and father. He was an alpha male in every way and he liked to be in control. Stori had to learn how to be submissive because he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“That was so sweet Naseem. I love you too, baby,” Stori said as she climbed into his lap and gave him a kiss.

Her feelings mirrored his and she was the happiest that she’d ever been too. She remembered being so unhappy at one point in her life that she used to cry every time she took a shower. That was her alone time and her thoughts always came to her then. Now, the only tears she cried were those of joy. Gavin fathering a child out of wedlock was a blessing in disguise. He got out of the way for her real husband to enter the picture. They had two happy, healthy babies and life for them couldn’t get any better than that.

“A ww, he’s so cute. He looks just like Keem and Junior,” Stori said as she held Kalani and Remo’s third child and first son.

Kalani’s two daughters, Karly and Kyla, were three and four years old and were a mixture of her and Remo. Kalani had just come home from the hospital the day before with their newest addition. Remo was so excited to finally have a son and he was already asking for another one. Nas and Stori’s twins were about to be six and Karly would be five soon after.

“I just hope he don’t be bad like their little asses,” Kalani laughed.

“I don’t know why not. You and Stori kill me with that shit. They’re boys and they’re supposed to be bad. Y’all want my nephews to be on that feminine shit,” Remo spoke up.

“Shut up Kareem. Junior and Keem don’t do no wrong in the eyes of you and Jarvis. I hate to say it but Nassir is starting to act just like them,” Kalani said, speaking of Stori and Nas’ three year old son.

They now had four kids and their daughter, Nashya, was the baby of the bunch. She was only a year old and Stori felt b
ad for her already. She had three big brothers and a crazy daddy that would probably make her life a living hell. Nas had her so spoiled that he could hardly take a shower without her. The twins and Nassir were in school, but Nashya went to the shop with them every single day. Nas had a section in the shop set up just for her. She was a crybaby and nobody wanted to keep her. Nas had to put her to sleep just so that Toi would be able to watch her. Lady and Jarvis were the only two who could watch her if Nas and Stori wanted to go somewhere. That was only because they had spoiled her too.

“Bitch, you know it’s bad when an ass whipping don’t even do the trick,” Stori said while shaking her head.

“Come on baby. We need to get going. I don’t want my baby waking up and I’m not there,” Nas said as he stood to his feet.

“That’s a damn shame how you spoiled that baby,” Kalani laughed.

“Just wait because my boy is about to be the same way,” Remo said as he smiled at his son. His daughters were spoiled too but not more than Shy. Nas wanted a girl too bad, so no one was surprised by that.

“What time is the meeting?” Kalani asked.

“In twenty minutes but I don’t care if we’re late. I’m so tired of going to this damn school for these lil boys.” Stori frowned.

“Man, fuck them people sis. They be calling y’all down there like Junior and Keem are so bad. You want me to go up there again bro?” Remo asked while looking at Nas.

“Hell no Kareem! I don’t want you and Jarvis to do nothing else,” Stori yelled.

The last time the school called about the twins, Nas and Stori were busy at work. Remo took off that day because Kalani had a clinic appointment, so he and Jarvis volunteered to go. Stori and Nas never got the entire story but they did know that the police had to be called. The twins were angels in the eyes of their uncles but Stori knew that she had given birth to devils in disguise. They acted like younger versions of Nas and Remo and that wasn’t a compliment.

“We got it bro. I’ll call you later,” Nas said as he gave his brother dap and left his house. As soon as he and Stori got into the car, his phone rang, displaying Jarvis’ number. He never did give Nas a chance to say anything before he started going off.

“What are them bitches complaining about this time?” Jarvis asked angrily.

“We never got there yet bruh. We’re on our way now,” Nas replied.

“I want my nephews the fuck up out of there bro. This shit is starting to get ridiculous. They did the same thing last year when they were in Pre-K. All the money y’all pay them and all they do is complain,” Jarvis fussed.

“They’re not complaining for nothing though Jarvis. Stop acting like Keem and Junior are so innocent. Nobody ever complains on Kalani’s girls and Nassir. It’s always the twins who keep getting into shit. They’re bad as fuck and you and Remo act like y’all are blind,” Stori replied.

“Being active is not the same as being bad. They’re boys and they have a lot of energy,” Jarvis noted.

“So, filling our pool with two containers of red Kool-Aid to dye Fendi’s fur is not being bad? It took forever for the dog’s fur to grow back after Toi had to get it all cut off. It took a month to get our pool right again,” Stori said.

“They were just curious,” Jarvis replied like that was normal.

“Oh, my God,” Stori said as she sighed in disgust. Jarvis defended everything the twins did and that drove Stori crazy. He went through the same thing when Nas and Remo were younger but he made excuses for his nephews.

The last few years had been very interesting to say the least. Between having four babies, working and running the house, Stori welcomed every vacation that Nas took her on. Her twins were like two living Chucky dolls and her only daughter was a crybaby. Nassir seemed to be the only one who didn’t drive her crazy, but the twins were starting to corrupt him too. Her sons had no fear and that’s what scared Stori the most. Nas taught them to be tough but they took it to the extreme. They didn’t even talk like other kids their age. Nas was saying that he wanted another daughter but he had Stori fucked up.

“You want me to meet y’all over there bro?” Jarvis asked.

  “No!” Stori yelled.

“We’re good bro. I’ll let them call you later,” Nas laughed.

“Don’t whip my nephews Stori. At least hear their side of everything first,” Jarvis said.

“Bye Jarvis,” Stori sighed before Nas disconnected the call.

“This shit is starting to get on my nerves man. I feel like we come here every other week,” Nas said when he pulled up to the school.

Stori didn’t even reply. She just got out of the car and headed for the front entrance. Once they checked in, she and Nas took a seat until the principal called them into the room. When they walked in, Stori was shocked to see that the assistant principal, disciplinarian and the teachers were in there waiting for them as well. That was a little extreme for two five year olds, but it was obviously necessary.

“Mr. and Mrs. Donaldson, thank you so much for coming,” the principle smiled.

“You act like we had a choice,” Nas snapped in response.

“Baby,” Stori said as she grabbed his hand and squeezed it.

“I’m good love,” Nas assured her while kissing her hand.

“What seems to be the problem?” Stori asked politely.

“Well, there are several issues that we need to address. The first thing is our inability to tell the boys apart. Naseem sat in the class on his brother’s behalf while Nakeem went to fight another student in the bathroom,” the principle said.

“That’s what the identity bracelets are for,” Stori replied.

“Yes but they never keep the bracelets on,” one of the teachers chimed in.

“That’s all on y’all though. My wife asked y’all to let them wear different shoes but everybody said no. Y’all were too busy worried about all the kids being in uniform, so that’s a problem that y’all will have to solve!” Nas barked.

  “Naseem, please don’t,” Stori whispered.

“I’m good baby. I’m not on no bullshit right now,” Nas said.

“Oh God,” Stori groaned. She already knew what that meant and bullshit was exactly what he was about to be on.

“Y’all call me and my wife every other week complaining about something different. Nobody was complaining when we wrote that fat ass check to help renovate the gym though. Y’all got us at a round table meeting with all these people for two five year olds. The fuck are we paying y’all for if y’all can’t even handle them,” Nas argued.

The principal’s face turned a bright shade of red as everyone else shifted nervously in their seats. Stori wanted to disappear but she held her head high and had her husband’s back. Nas could be intimidating at times and no one knew that better than she did.

“Your boys are very smart Mr. Donaldson. Truthfully, they’re the smartest two in the kindergarten class but their behavior is not always the best,” one of the teachers spoke up.

“Maybe my brother is right. I might need to get my boys the fuck up out of here. I can save money on this high ass tuition and find a school that can get the job done. Go get my kids man. They’re leaving early today,” Nas ordered.

“That’s not why we asked you to come here Mr. Donaldson. Your boys are getting a very good education right here with us. We just want you and your wife to have a talk with them about their behavior. I’m told that Nassir is doing very well in our Pre-K 3 program. Your nieces are doing great here as well.” The principle smiled.

“We’ll have a talk with the boys tonight. Since it’s so close to school being out, we’ll take them all home and bring them back in the morning,” Stori replied politely.

Kalani’s mother usually got her girls from school, so Stori didn’t want to take them. She kept them for a few hours every day to give her daughter and son-in-law a little break.

“Of course,” the principal smiled as she instructed the secretary to call for all three
of the boys.

Nassir was the first to be escorted in. He smiled when he saw his parents standing there and he ran and jumped into Nas’ arms.

“What’s up bruh?” Nas smiled as he hugged him.

“I want ice cream daddy,” Nassir said, just like always. If he could live on ice cream, he would damn sure try. Stori kissed his cheek and he smiled and blushed.

“I got you, lil man,” Nas promised right as the twins walked into the office.

They had their curly hair cut into a mohawk just like he used to wear his. They saw an old picture of their father’s hair and they wanted the same cut. They asked to get it colored too but Stori wasn’t having it. If Nassir wasn’t so small, the three of them could have passed for triplets.

“Where are y’all identity bracelets?” Stori asked as soon as they walked over to them.

“Right here,” both boys replied simultaneously while holding up their wrists for their mother to see. Stori was no fool and she already knew what was up. Knowing them, they probably put them back on right before they walked into the office.

“Let’s go,” Stori said as she walked out of the office with Nas and their sons following behind her.

“I’m getting real tired of coming to this damn school for y’all,” Nas fussed once they got into the car.

“We didn’t even do nothing,” Keem said as he looked over at his brother. Junior made a motion with his hands and Keem responded with a hand gesture of his own.

“Stop! Stop it right now! Don’t even start that shit!” Stori fussed. She hated that Nas and Remo taught her sons sign language and the school taught it too. She had never taken the time to learn and she was sorry that she hadn’t.

“Y’all chill out bruh,” Nas warned sternly while giving them a look in the rearview mirror.

“I want ice cream daddy,” Nassir chanted.

“I got you, bruh,” Nas promised, right as Stori’s phone rang.

Toi was calling to tell her that Shy was up and they were at Lady’s house. She probably woke up crying and Toi had to bring her to Lady to calm her down. Toi was almost twenty-one years old now and she and Eric had their own apartment. She was in nursing school and he was a welder at a power plant. He was back in school for his business degree and they were doing good for themselves.
