Betrayed: Dark beginnings
Page 3
The day passed quickly; the sun went down and it was eight-o-clock already. Jordan had almost finished the kitchen and was cleaning up.
“It’s ok; I’ll get Cecile to clean that up.” Elizabeth said putting her hand on Jordan’s. That was the first time they had spoken in hours.
“I can do it, it is no problem. Is Cecile your aunt?” he looked her up and down
“It is fine, she will not mind and yes she is. She’s actually out at the moment.” Elizabeth said saucily.
“Brilliant, I mean, do you want to sit down and watch the film now?” He said cheekily, poking her stomach and laughing.
Elizabeth led him into the living room, where he sat on the big corner suite so she chose a seat next to him and put on one her favorite films. It was about a succubus who haunted her ex-lovers dreams before she killed him in cold blood.
Throughout the entire film Jordan could not concentrate; Elizabeth laid her head on his chest where she could hear his heart beating faster as she moved her hand lower down his stomach, caressing his abs with the tips of her fingers. He moved his hand onto the side of her neck, pushing back her hair. He slowly edged his hand down her shoulder towards her chest.
She could feel his erection pulsate against her thigh; this made Elizabeth more excited, her nipples hardened and Jordan could see them through her top. He moved his hand under her chin and tilted her face to his, placing his lips to hers. They were warm and sweet. She nibbled his lip slightly and he moved away, his eyes locked onto hers.
A small amount of blood trickled down his chin from his lip; she had nibbled a bit too hard. She watched it trickle slowly, making her hungry. She ground her teeth whilst contemplating if she should kill him now. He felt the blood and wiped it with his sleeve.
“Hungry?” He said jokingly, but Elizabeth did not answer; she just kept grinding her teeth. “You are so beautiful” He said sweetly. She looked up and the hunger was disappearing, it had transformed back into lust. She smiled coyly. “I better get going; my mum is going to be worried.” He looked at her, disappointment filling his face. “Sorry.”
“Right, sure, I’ll see you on Friday” she said surprised. She was slightly offended, he could have had her there and then on the sofa and yet he chooses to leave after one kiss? That had never happened to her before.
“Yeah, see you Friday then Lizzie.” He smiled and walked out the door, leaving Elizabeth on the sofa wanting more.
She stood up, walked over to the window and watched him walk down the small hill, disappearing into the distance. She felt stupid. Elizabeth was not fond of rejection; ‘I do not think anyone is’ she mused to herself. Cecile walked down the stairs.
“Did he bruise your ego?” She said laughing as she walked into the kitchen. Elizabeth did not know she was even in the house, let alone listening. She walked up the stairs and slumped onto her bed
CHAPTER SEVen
Jordan sat on his bed; all he could think about was her lips and how amazing she is, so funny and cool. He could not get Elizabeth out of his head.
He knew he needed to start concentrating on college, if he could just get through the next five months it would all work out. But he wanted to see her again, every day. It took every bit of his strength not to rip her clothes off and take her on her sofa earlier, he clenched his fist aggravated.
He did not realize what she was until his lip had started bleeding and even though he hated her kind, he could not help but want her so much more than he had ever wanted anyone before.
He thought back to when he was ten and his dad had taken him out fishing. It was a beautiful night; it was warm with a slight breeze. The sky was light red. His dad was smiling, which was a miracle in itself, but a woman disturbed their perfect night. She ran up to them crying hysterically, Jordan took one look at the blood that seeped through her jeans and dropped his fishing rod into the lake in panic. His dad got up and put his arm around the mystery woman and while trying to calm her down he led her off towards the town.
He shouted to Jordan to run home. Jordan remembered running into the house, feeling sick and dizzy. He told Chloe nothing was wrong and for her to go upstairs. His mother screamed at him asking where his dad was, all he could splutter out were the words - blood, woman, gone to get help. Jordan had never liked blood and seeing someone covered in it repulsed him.
That night something changed in his dad; he could see it. The woman who his dad had saved was in hospital; Jordan and his dad went every day to see how she was doing. They would bring her chocolates, grapes and magazines and she would smile at them gratefully.
That night he had fallen asleep on a cold plastic chair that was in the corner of the room and woke up a few hours later to his dad and the woman whispering to each other. Jordan kept his eyes closed and listened carefully.
“Don’t worry, you’re safe with me, I promise to keep you safe.” He said holding the woman’s hand.
“Thank you Gerry, but what about your wife and children?” She whispered.
“Don’t worry, I’ll sort it out. I am more worried about that vampire, but don’t worry I will find and kill it before it comes back.” He said looking into the woman’s eyes.
“She’s coming back for me?” She was terrified and buried her face in her hands, shaking horrendously. His dad stroked the woman’s hair in a comforting manner;
“The problem is, when a vampire drinks a human’s blood and does not drain them completely, they always come back to complete the job. A thirst takes over and they make it their mission, it seems, to finish that person off.” His dad explained as the woman wept. “But do not worry, I will find it and kill it before it has a chance!” His voice filled with anger. Jordan sat there with his eyes closed and resisted shouting at them.
Did he hear right, a vampire? They do not exist, or so he thought.
The thought that his dad was choosing this new woman over himself, Chloe and his mum made something grow inside him, something he hadn’t felt before. He could feel a rage bubble in the pit of his stomach and couldn’t stand it anymore. Jordan got up and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
His dad shouted after him but he never went back. Nor did he tell anyone what he had heard either. He didn’t think anyone would believe him anyway. It was only some years later that he had come face to face with a vampire. He also had learned a great deal about them.
……………………………….
Jordan jumped into bed, knocking his phone onto the floor. But he did not care; he was so exhausted. He pulled off his top and jeans and threw them next to his bed. He tried to discard the memory of his dad and that woman, but it kept flickering in and out of his thoughts.
He tried hard to stop thinking about that night, those memories and encouraged thoughts of Elizabeth instead, he knew something was not right, she was just too perfect. It was only when he saw the way she ground her teeth at the sight of his blood that he knew, even though he wanted to stay; he had to leave.
He laid there wondering if his sister is ok, where she is now, if she is in trouble. Then a thought came to him, Lizzie. What if she had killed his sister? The realization hit him hard. A burning rage filled his body. But then remembered seeing the tickets to Edinburgh the police had found, brought from Chloe’s card. He relaxed a little, the burning rage that boiled in his stomach calmed.
Even though he hated vampires, and for good reason, he wanted to go back and see Elizabeth. Maybe she was different to other vampires, he thought. He hadn’t given her a chance yet, and she hadn’t tried to kill him.
He decided to go back and see her, just one last time, to give her a chance; after all he did like her a lot. He was just going to have to be careful around her. Jordan looked around his room; clothes were thrown carelessly on his chest of draws, an old pizza box by his T.V, his blue curtains half-open.
He closed his eyes and could feel the room spinning. It was gone one-o-clock in the morning and the house was silent; he thought of Elizabeth
and fell into a deep sleep.
…………………………………………
Jordan woke up early and text Elizabeth. Morning gorgeous, I’ll see you tomorrow Xxx
He put his phone down and got out of bed. He sprayed on some deodorant and pulled on a pair of dark denim jeans, his black top and his blue hoodie. His mother was crying again; he could hear her sobs echo as he walked down the stairs and into the kitchen.
He looked at his mother’s pale complexion, the dark circles that surrounded her eyes, her greasy, dirty blonde hair tied up in an effortless bun. She had no makeup on and wore sweatpants and a baggy top. Her nails were chipped and split, her skin looked dry; she had let herself go.
“Mum, do you want a cup of tea?” Jordan asked her softly.
“Oh Jordan, just make her come home!” She wailed desperately. He walked over and put his hand on her shoulders, looking into her tired eyes.
“You know I would if I could. She was talking about running for a long time, she will come back mum. I promise.” He pulled her into a hug “I promise ok.”
She buried her face into his hoodie.
“I know we have had our problems, but I love you both more than anything. You two are my world; I just do not know what I’d do without either of you. I just want her to come home.” She said through muffled sobs.
Jordan held his mother in his arms for around ten minutes as she sobbed into his shoulder. He had not felt this close to her in so long, not with her depression and everything that had gone on.
That’s why he and Chloe were always so close. They always had to stick up for each other no matter what happened. Their dad had not called in weeks.
Jordan felt the rage inside him boil up again and ground his teeth. His dad did not care, as usual. He never did, Jordan thought. He hugged his mum tighter before she finally stopped crying. She let go of him, got up, and put the kettle on.
“Mum stop, I said I will make it.” Jordan said as he stared at her shaking hands.
“It is fine, I’ll make it. Do you want some breakfast?” She perked up a bit
“Yeah sure.” Jordan said slowly.
This is always what happened, one minute she was up, and then she was down. Jordan knew that he would have to keep comforting her, telling her Chloe’s going to be ok, and that she will come back. He believed it himself, but doubt nudged at him sometimes. He was surprised; however, that Chloe had not called him yet. They had always been so close.
His phone vibrated in his pocket; he pulled it out, and it was Elizabeth. Morning handsome, that’s fine, I look forward to it! Xxx. Jordan smiled to himself; he could not wait to see her and hated himself for thinking that, but there was something about her, more than meets the eye. He perked up and decided he did not care if she was a vampire, she didn’t look like she could kill anyone.
He decided that he would confront her about it. Just ask her if she is a vampire straight out. He would have to wait until the right time though.
“Mum, I’m not feeling too good. Can you ring the college and tell them I’m not coming in?” He looked at her and held his stomach.
“What’s wrong?” She did not look convinced.
“It’s just a stomach ache; where I’ve been really stress” He held on tighter, her expression softened.
“Of course, go and lie down for a while. I will ring them now.” She picked up the phone and started dialing.
“Thanks mum,”
Jordan grabbed the bacon sandwich she had made off the worktop, and ate it slowly. He had not been eating properly lately, and it felt so good to finally eat a decent meal.
He walked upstairs to his room and got ready; he put in some hair putty and swept his hair back effortlessly. He needed to see her again, to make sure he was not wrong about her. Jordan ran down the stairs.
“I’m going for a walk; I need to clear my head!”
He said loudly. He did not wait for a reply and walked out the door. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and text Elizabeth. On my way over, missed you! Xx Jordan headed towards her house, kicking a random football that lay in the middle of the path on the way. He rang Chloe’s phone again, praying for an answer, but got through to her voicemail. He left a final message.
“Chloe, its Jordan, please ring me when you get this. You know I’m not going to say anything to mum, but I’m starting to worry now, all right. Love you sis.”
He hung up the phone and sighed, her phone was still ringing, so she’s bound to be ok. Elizabeth text back Ok, see you soon xx
CHAPTER EIGHT
Jordan walked up Elizabeth’s drive, if you can call it a drive, and knocked on her door. She answered quickly, swinging open the door.
“Hey,” she said excitedly, stepping out on to the step. Jordan stepped forward, closing in on her.
“Hey, are you ok?” He said smiling, he always felt so much better when he was around her.
She was just so bubbly, fun and full of life.
“Come in then.” She said grinning. He walked through the hallway and nodded to Cecile. She flashed him a sweet smile back. He followed Elizabeth into the living room.
“Sorry for coming up unannounced, I just wanted to see you.” He said nervously, he scratched his finger with his nail and bit down on his lip.
“It’s ok, I like it when your here” She smiled sweetly.
He grabbed Elizabeth by her waist and pulled her in closer, looking into her eyes, smiling. She smiled back at him, showing off her pearly white teeth.
“You’re so beautiful.” Jordan said charmingly and softly kissed her cheek.
“You’re not too bad yourself.” She said, failing to sound sexy like she wanted, but sounded sweet and soft instead.
Oh god, I think I like him a bit, she thought. She bit her lip; Elizabeth didn’t want to like him, but couldn’t help it. She loved being in this moment and didn’t want it to end yet. She just wanted to enjoy it right now and deal with the consequences later.
“Let’s go somewhere.” Jordan said excitedly
“Where too?” Lizzie said holding on to Jordan tightly.
“We could go down to the lake?” He said brightly. This was the last place she wanted to go right now, that was for another night.
“We could go to the cinema.” She said putting her hand on the back of his head, running her fingers through his hair. She stared into his stunning brown eyes.
Damn he’s gorgeous, she thought. They couldn’t deny it; the spark between them was electrifying.
“Yeah, I don’t see why not.” Jordan whispered as he leaned in towards her and put his hand on the small of her back. She moved her lips to his and they kissed for what felt like hours. He pulled her in tighter, crushing her body against his.
“As much as I’d love to stand here kissing you all day, and believe me I would, we should really get going.” He pulled away from her and smiled. Elizabeth smiled back and ran upstairs to get ready. Jordan followed Elizabeth into her bedroom.
“I can’t have you watch me get changed.” She pursed her lips at him “You may not be able to resist.” She said cheekily and lifted one eyebrow.
“I’m finding it difficult to resist as it is. I think it’s best if I wait outside.” He said looking her up and down.
He walked out and closed the door. She slipped into her summer dress; its pale green colors went with her white strapped sandals perfectly. She pulled her hair back into a ponytail; put on some mascara, eyeliner, and lip-gloss.
“I’m ready.” She shouted. She could hear Jordan pacing outside the door. He walked in and stopped dead in his tracks when he looked up at her.
“Wow, is it even possible that you can get so much more striking every time I see you.” He said looking at her figure. The dress hung just above her knees. The low cut showing off her cleavage slightly, but not enough to be deemed trashy. The colour of the dress enhanced her eyes, making them shine brightly.
Jordan walked over to Elizabeth and whispered in her ear
/>
“I have a better idea.” His breath tickled her neck, it felt good and her legs went like jelly.
“What’s that?” She croaked. She quickly cleared her throat.
“We can sit in the garden and watch the sun set?” He smiled at her as she turned to face him.
“I didn’t know you were the cliché type.” She pursed her lips.
“So what if its clichéd, there is a reason it is clichéd because everyone wants to look at something that beautiful. And even though I’m staring at her now, a sunset does come second.” If she could have blushed, she would have.
“Fine” She smiled, giving in.
Elizabeth walked over to him and rested her head on his shoulder, as they walked with their arms slinked around each other down the stairs.
They sat against a log in the garden and stared up at the sky. Elizabeth laid her head on Jordan’s chest. She looked up to him; he was staring into the sky, mesmerized.
“You know, I am so glad I met you.” He said lowering his gaze to her.
“Me too,” and the worst thing was, she knew she meant it. She didn’t want to like him, but she did.
“I’m sorry I kept leaving as well, it’s just I’m worried at the moment. With looking after my mum and college, my head has been all over the place” He took a deep breath and closed his eyes briefly. “My sister went missing a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve tried ringing her, but she’s not answering.” He went quiet and looked back up to the sky.
Elizabeth thought back to the young girl she killed a few weeks ago, and wondered if it was her.
“That sucks. I’m sure she is ok. Surely if something bad had happened to her, the police would have found something by now.” she said confidently, even though she wasn’t confident at all. Jordan smiled
