My God, what have I done?

  --

  Lana … Lana.

I still see her sometimes in the shimmering lights reflected in the stars, the shift of the wind at the edge of a puffy cloud, or in a dune of sand at the ebb of the desert after another tired day, her wavy hairs fanning out like in a photo-shopped glossy magazine cover, through the forests and the branches of my thoughts and dreams at night under the stroke of the full moon and the ageless agony of the stars.

It is the strangest of things.

And when I get into a foreign hotel room, at the end of a long day of travel and work, I can still smell her perfume and wait for her to appear, gliding out of the bathroom naked as it was her way, the queen of all women and Renaissance nudes and Greek goddesses, naked and demure.

This brings into my mind the ugly balance written in the book of my life. Whenever I make the measurement between the two of us, I always come up short.

I know I'll never find a woman like her again, no matter how hard I'm willing to try.

  Lana.

  I think of her sometimes.

  I remember her well.

Now I’m alone with my sad and gloomy thoughts, and I have nothing, but thinking about her still brings into my heart a deep and tremendous joy.
