“You know, him and Gran probably shopped together.” Jon teased Kory on the car ride back to the apartment.

“Please tell me we are not spending New Year’s with them.” Kory whined making Jon cackle. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, your family is great. A bit mental, but great. I just, well, I thought we maybe could go somewhere that isn’t your house or my house or the All Cocks house or your parents’ house, at some point.”

Jon pulled into a spot in front of Kory’s apartment building and killed the engine before turning to face Kory. “Babe, we can do whatever you want for New Years. As long as I’m with you, it will be a happy new year regardless of where we are.” Jon reached up and cupped Kory’s cheek, then leaned over and kissed him gently before pulling back and smiling.

“I’m not making out in your truck like a couple of teenagers, let’s go upstairs; Dusty went back home for the holidays so it will be just us two.” Kory already had his door open and one foot on the truck railing.

Kory could tell by the smoldering look on Jon’s face that the only thing stopping his hunky boyfriend from fucking him in the elevator were the presents that weighed down both their arms. They barely made it into the apartment before Jon dropped them and grabbed Kory, turning and pinning him to the door, ravishing his mouth with a deliberate kiss.

“Jon.” Kory groaned as Jon ground his already stiff cock into Kory’s hip. When Jon ran his hands down Kory’s back to his ass, grabbing a cheek in each hand, Kory welcomed the invitation and jumped into Jon’s arms, wrapping his legs around Jon’s waist. Jon fumbled for the door, found the lock and clicked it before turning and carrying Kory into his bedroom.

Two hours later they both lay in bed on their backs, staring up at the ceiling, trying very hard to catch their breath. “Holy shit Jon. That was probably the single most satisfying sexual experience of my life.” Jon laughed, rolling to his side and grabbing Kory by the hip, pulling his body close.

He kissed Kory’s forehead and closed his eyes, ready for a good night’s sleep after the workout they just had. Kory’s body shook next to him, silently laughing. “What?” Jon asked.

“Well, I have to know, did it really taste like raspberries?”

  ***

On New Year’s Eve, Kory and Jon found themselves at Chris and Linc’s new house for a ‘New year, new house warming party.’ Kory had to admit, it was genius. The trip to Pottery Barn on the way to their house had been Jon’s idea, for which Kory took credit when they arrived and Linc went crazy over the smoothie blender Jon had picked out for them.

Victor, Andrew and Mattie usually had some kind of soiree out at their house for every major holiday. But this year, with all the running around and wedding details, Victor had decided he needed some time alone with his men. So they were spending their Eve on the Sound, watching fireworks from the deck of their boat.

The day of the wedding, Jon and Kory drove out to the house arguing the entire time because Jon had went to Pottery Barn and bought another smoothie machine for a wedding gift.

“You do realize they probably already have one, right? They have that massive kitchen with every gadget known to man hidden in there somewhere.” Kory fumed from the passenger’s seat of Jon’s big truck, arms crossed, staring out the window pouting.

“Well fuck you very much Kory. You asked me to go and pick out a gift, and this is the thanks I get for it?!” Jon was beyond pissed.

Kory jerked his head around, glaring at Jon. “Really? Victor and Andrew have been in the house forever. Mattie has been there for over five years. And you think they don’t have a fucking blender, Jon?!”

“Are we seriously screaming at each other over a fucking blender, Kory?” Jon asked, pounding his palm on the steering wheel.

Kory mumbled something indecipherable under his breath, turning and staring out the window again.

“Kory. I swear to God…“Jon let the sentence trail off as he drove up the road that led to the house. They parked and made their way into the house in silence.

Kory headed straight for the back door as he usually did, stomping into the house in a huff. “Well good afternoon, Grumpy Gus.” Kory turned and stared at Jordan, lips quivering as he snarled. Jordan just laughed at him, which only made Kory even madder than he already was. He stomped off in search of god knows who just as Jon came through the back door.

“What’s up his ass?” Jordan asked.

“Don’t ask,” Jon replied. He walked over to the coffee pot, grabbing a mug and pouring himself a cup. “Damn, that is good.”

Jordan waved a flask in front of Jon’s face. “A little something sweet to take the edge off?” Jon nodded enthusiastically, holding his cup out as Jordan topped him off. “I really don’t know how you put up with him.” Jordan said shaking his head and watching Kory stomp up the stairs. “But I will say, he is like a different person since you came into his life. He used to be pissed off all the time; now he is just pissed off some of the time.” Jordan and Jon both laughed.

“Yeah, he’s a right pain in my arse, but I have grown quite fond of having him around, even if he could test the patience of a saint most of the time.” Jon chuckled, smiling into his spiked cup of coffee.

The ceremony itself was simple and beautiful, the three men exchanging their vows and solidifying the commitment that was forged over the past six years. The reception that followed was a party the likes of which Jon had never seen. It was enlightening for him to watch men he had drooled over online, seeing firsthand that most of the models were very far removed from their online personas. The men he watched dancing and singing, the men he had gotten to know over the past six months were anything but superstars. They were friends - some lovers and some confidants, but most of all, they were a family.

Kory and Jon were seated at a table with Chris, Linc, Gabe, Gio, Dusty, Connor and Micah. Jon tried to keep up with all the conversations at the table since he hadn’t spent much time with anyone aside from Chris, Linc and Micah. Gabe and Gio talked about the condo in the city they were thinking of buying now that they were living together. Dusty was filling Micah and Kory in on his family drama after spending a couple months back home in Texas for the holidays, and Connor just sat silently for the most part.

“So, Connor, what do you do when you aren’t doing all this?” Jon asked, waving his hand in the air.

Connor snorted out a laugh. “Name’s William, Connor is my All Cocks name, nice to meet you, Jon right?” Jon nodded and shook Connor, no, William’s hand.

“I work part time as a bartender at The Monster nightclub in the city with Gio.” William pointed to Gabe’s boyfriend. Jon watched them for a minute while William continued to talk. They were a contrast of differences, Gabe and Gio. Gabe was five foot nine maybe, with long blonde hair and lily white skin. Gio was six feet tall roughly with chocolate kissed skin, a variety of tattoos and most notably, light blue eyes. They were very much yin and yang, but they absolutely adored each other. Gabe had actually given up his porn star status for Gio when it proved to be more than the bartender/model could deal with.

“You’re a cop, right?” Jon turned his attention back to William, nodding in response to his question. “I don’t envy you that job.”

“It is what it is. My family for generations has worked for the NYPD in some capacity or another. Well, except my brother Tristan. He decided to be a psychiatrist; the family is scandalized.” Jon feigned a look of horror, eyes wide, hand over his mouth. William just laughed at him.

“Willie, come dance with me!” Gabe yelled out over the music, jumping up and grabbing William by the arm, dragging the much bigger man out onto the makeshift dance floor.

“What do you say? Want to spin me around the dance floor a time or two?” Kory stood behind Jon, leaning over and whispering in his ear before gently biting the lobe. Jon stood, turning and leaning into Kory, stealing a quick kiss.

They stayed out on the dance floor through two songs before it was time for the grooms to cut the ca
ke and open their gifts. “A new blender, oh good!” Mattie screeched when he opened Jon and Kory’s gift. “Look Andy, now we don’t have to buy a new one.” Turning to look at Jon and Kory, Mattie said, “Our blender died a couple weeks ago, and I hadn’t gotten around to getting a new one yet. This is perfect guys, thanks!”

Jon turned on Kory, grinning from ear to ear, his eyes twinkling. “Oh no, shut it.” Kory said then shoved Jon away. He quickly wrapped an arm around Kory’s shoulder and pulled him close, kissing the top of Kory’s head. Kory tried very hard to glare at Jon, but it wasn’t even remotely convincing, especially with the corner of his mouth twitching upward.

It was a long drive back to the city that night, both men fighting the fatigue that was settling into their bodies, Dusty already passed out in the backseat. The plan had been to drop Dusty off at his and Kory’s apartment, and Kory would go back to Jon’s with him. They were so worn out by the time they reached the apartment that Jon and Kory decided to stay put rather than risk an accident were Jon to try and drive to his house.

The three of them blindly made their way into the building, comatose for the elevator ride up to the sixth floor then fumbled with the key in the lock. They all fell into bed, probably asleep before heads hit pillows. Kory chuckled the next morning as he followed the trail of shoes, suit jackets and ties that littered the floor on his way to the kitchen to start the coffee.

“This has promise.” Kory jumped, almost hitting his head on the open cabinet door, jerking around to find Jon standing behind him. He held the tie Kory had worn to the wedding in his hand, his eyes half full of sleep, the other half mischief.

Kory snorted and turned back around to pour himself a cup of the coffee that had just finished brewing. He inhaled, took a long swig, sighing before he asked the question. “What has promise?”

Jon wrapped one arm around Kory and wiggled the tie in the air with the other. “This.”

  “Really? Why’s that?”

Jon turned Kory around to face him, fully awake now and giving Kory a cocky grin. “Why don’t you come back to bed, and I’ll show you?”

~ Chapter 9 | In the blink of an eye ~

Jon was working his rotation on the graveyard shift for the weekend, so Kory decided to drive out to the house in Mamaroneck on Friday instead of Sunday as he had originally planned. The weather was warming up some and the green had come back to the trees and grass, so Andrew had scheduled a pool shoot for Hayden and a model on loan to them from Ruff and Tuff studios for the summer. Gabe would be out at the house as well, filling in for Jordan who was taking a full load of classes during summer school.

Kory wasn’t certain, but he thought Jordan’s time with them was coming to an end. He would forever be a part of their family, especially now that his relationship with Cassie was out in the open, but he was also getting closer to starting his residency rotations. So Jordan was about to have far less free time on his hands. Kory laughed when the thought crossed his mind, Damn, I’m gonna miss having him around on a daily basis.

Victor was grilling steaks when Kory arrived. He carried his bag up to the room he would be sharing with Gabe for the next few days before heading back down and joining everyone on the porch. Kory sat on the porch with Gabe, Mattie and Andrew until the temperature started to fall, sending them all inside. After dinner Victor and Andrew headed up to their office to work on some ideas for shoots and scheduling.

Kory sat in the den with Mattie and Gabe watching the season finale of Blue Bloods until the show was interrupted with a breaking news story. “Mother fucker!” Kory yelled, throwing a piece of popcorn at the big screen TV. “Fuck the news, put the show back on.”

The screen showed a live action still from downtown New York, and the words “Breaking news, shots fired at a local NYC popular gay Nightclub, The Monster Bar” flashed at the bottom of the screen.

“Oh my god, Gabe, is Gio working tonight?” Mattie asked. Gabe couldn’t speak or take his eyes off the TV. He simply nodded, eyes wide, fear etched onto his normally lighthearted face. The camera slowly panned out to show two ambulances, a fire truck and at least a dozen police cars. It was a mad cacophony of sirens and shouts, and then a news reporter stepped in front of the camera.

“We are coming to you live from Grove Street here in New York tonight at the popular gay Nightclub, The Monster Bar. A call came in to 911 at ten pm that gunshots could be heard from inside the bar. Officers from the Seventh, Ninth and Thirteenth precincts have been dispatched and are currently on scene to assess the situation.”

“Oh no, oh God.” Kory said quietly before jumping up and running to the back porch, pulling his shoes on before standing there, digging into his pockets. He cursed, turning in a circle and patting his back pockets, cursing more before he ran back in the house and started tearing the kitchen apart.

“What the hell, Kory, what are you going on about?” Mattie yelled, standing and grabbing Gabe by the hand, literally dragging his tiny body away from the TV, heading into the kitchen. “Calm down Kory, and stop tearing my kitchen apart, what the fuck is wrong with you?!” Mattie was shouting, but Kory wasn’t even listening.

“My keys, where are my fucking keys?!” Kory was yelling as well.

“Calm down and we’ll find them Kory, but why do you need them? Where are you going?” Mattie’s confusion and frustration was evident by the tone in his voice.

“Jon works at the thirteenth precinct.” Gabe said softly.

“What…” Mattie scowled, looking at Gabe, then back to Kory, and back to Gabe before his eyes went wide as what Gabe had just said finally sank in.

“Shit!” Mattie shouted, rushing over to the stairs and yelling, “Victor, Andy, get down here now!” It sounded like a herd of elephants was running through the upstairs hallway as Victor and Andy came downstairs, both of them looking ready to rip the head off of whoever made Mattie freak out and call for them.

Kory continued to toss things aside in an attempt to find his keys while Mattie told Victor and Andrew what was going on. Victor told them all to be quiet as he walked over to the TV and turned the volume up.

“We’ve just learned that there are hostages inside the building and the gunmen aren’t picking up the phone for hostage negotiators. Officers on the scene from the thirteenth precinct are on standby, awaiting orders to storm the building now.”

Kory stared at the TV screen. About a dozen officers were lined up along the side of the building dressed in Kevlar, what looked like biker’s helmets and funny looking glasses. While Kory couldn’t have pointed out which of the dozen Officers was Jon, he felt it in his gut. He knew one of them was. There was no way Jon would let his men go in there alone.

Frustration got the better of him and Kory turned, slamming his hands down on the kitchen island, his keys jumped and rattled on the Formica counter top. “Ah-ha!” He snatched them up and bolted around the cabinet, running right into a very big wall.

“Give me keys.” Victor held his hand out.

“Fuck off Victor and get out of my way, now!” Kory stared up at Victor, his eyes red rimmed, nostrils flared.

Victor placed his hands on Kory’s shoulders, “Give me keys, I drive.”

“Fine, let’s go. If you’re coming, get in the fucking car!” Kory tossed the keys in the air and Victor caught them, the five of them quickly piling into the car and heading toward the city. They had barely made it to the main highway when Kory’s cell phone rang. Looking at the screen he didn’t recognize the number, but he answered anyway - it could be Jon calling from someone else’s phone for all he knew.

  “Hello.”

“Kory, it’s Tristan. I tried calling Jon but his phone goes straight to voicemail. Please tell me he is with you, Kory.” Tristan’s voice was low and strained, and Kory could hear several voices chattering in the background.

He took a deep breath and closed his eyes before answering. “No Tris, he is working tonight.”

Kory heard Tristan relaying his words
to whomever he was with and then heard what he thought were Rafe and Sophia’s voices trying to talk over each other.

“Listen, Tris, I’m in the car heading back into the city…”

“Goddammit Kory, you aren’t alone are you? Come here first and pick me up,” Tristan said, Sophia and Rafe yelling they were coming too in the background.

“No Tris, I’m with Victor, Andrew, Mattie and Gabe. I’m not stopping until I get to Grove Street Tris; I have to know he is okay.” Kory’s voice broke off at the end.
