“Specialize?” she said. “I’ve had your back rubs. Not sure I’d say they’re special.”
“Ouch.” He smiled. “Here comes the bus.”
Tommy got off the bus and tossed his backpack in the air. “Last day of school!”
“Now what?” Stone said.
“Fun stuff,” Tommy said.
“Like what?” Peyton picked up his backpack.
Tommy took her hand and walked between them as they started up the driveway. “I don’t know. I was hoping Stone could be with us a lot this summer.”
“I’m sure he will be,” Peyton said.
“I was thinking,” Tommy said, “maybe he could spend the weekend.”
“I’d like that,” Stone said.
Inside, Tommy ran up to his room.
Stone turned to Peyton, “The weekend? It’s a step.”
“It’s a big step,” Peyton said. Then she moved closer and kissed him hard on the mouth. “Now about those overrated back rubs.”
