Max walked up to her, whatever he’d retrieved hidden in his big hand.

Suddenly, he dropped to one knee.

“Aly Martinson. You are the love of my life, and I’ve carried this ring with me for more than eighteen months hoping to have a chance to give it to you. You are such a strong, amazing woman. The more I know about you, the more I love and admire you. I know just a small sliver of the burdens you carry because of your work, but I want to help you bear them. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, loving you, caring for you, and yes, spanking your ass. I want to be your husband and your Dom, if you’ll allow me. You are as necessary to me as the air that I breathe, and now that you are back, I can’t imagine my life without you in it.

“Aly, I love you. Will you marry me?”

Aly felt the tears begin to steam down her face, and she saw the panicked look on Max’s face.

“Maxwell Barton, you are the love of my life. I lost you once, and I never want to be without you again. I love you and need you. No one has ever understood me like you do. I look forward to every day being with you for the rest of my life, even if my ass is sore most of the time. I want to be your wife and your sub, and I’m sorry, but I still don’t want to be your puppy.

“So, if you are okay with that one limitation, then, Max. Master. Yes, I’ll marry you.”
