Their bodies pressed together, his heat mingling with hers, his masculine smells intertwining with her feminine smells in a heady elixir. Her body was drawn to his, magnetically, magically, irresistibly. It was she pressing against him, grinding her pelvis into him as he kissed her.
The kiss broke but his mouth owned her face, and trailed kisses over it, making her skin burn with fever. He tasted her neck. The touch of his hot hand on her bare breast startled her. He’d undone her blouse without her even knowing and fondled her, tugged at her nipples. Then his face was at her breast and she stroked his head as he sucked her nipple into his mouth and tormented it before moving to the other one.
His hands were under her skirt and inside the back of her panties. Leaving her dressed, he managed to caress her nakedness, making her body tingle as it never had.
He took her in his powerful arms, scooping her off her feet. The room grew blurry, the world grew blurry as he took her into his bedroom. “No,” she said, but so softly no one heard. “Yes,” her body screamed loudly.
He put her on the bed and touched her. Nothing more than that, yet, suddenly she was naked and he looked down at her, touching her, spreading her legs apart, sending bolts of lightning through her. He straightened up and began to undress, and she lay watching him. His face glowed in a fierce fire that was intense, and intoxicating. She opened her legs and ran her hands from her knees, down her thighs, to her pussy. His eyes burned into her, and she touched the lips of her pussy, splaying them open, showing him what she knew he wanted to see.
He stood by the bed, a naked giant, with a huge cock, proudly erect. She reached up and touched it, feeling his pulse throbbing in that fleshy stalk. As she held it, he crawled onto the bed, pushed her legs further apart and knelt between them. “Put it in your pussy,” he said.
A mist of passion descended over her and she greedily guided the cock in her hand into her hot and wet cunt. “You are mine,” he told her as his cock touched the entrance to her cunt, nestled between its lips. “You are mine.” His words on hot breath burned in her ear as his body moved on hers, spreading her opening, his throbbing cock burning its way into her, diving to her core in a way she’d never felt before.
Then she clung to him, embraced that powerful body that used her, filled her being as well as her cunt with cock and masculine power that rattled her. “I’m going to fuck you,” he said and when he did she was certain that he was right, that she’d never been truly fucked, for he took her completely. This was so much more than the simple penetration of his flesh in hers that she couldn’t focus on any aspect of it. Her body and mind were united in the middle of orgasmic chaos, and with him thrusting ever deeper, the arrival of her own orgasm surprised her, erupting in a fiery and convulsive wracking of her body that left every nerve ending tingling. When he came, sending his seed rushing up inside her, she welcomed it as if it might quench her fire for a time.
Morning light flowed in through the curtains and she lay still, watching him breathing. It amazed her to be there with him, to know he wanted her. She monitored the rise and fall of his chest. Unable to sleep, she’d been watching him for hours, seeing the outline of him and feeling his warmth. Now with the growing light she saw the line of his face, the scars on his chest and she touched them, wondering under which one of them the piece of metal that ended his effort to stay in the Army lurked.
When he woke, he seemed puzzled for a moment, then he smiled. “I guess we didn’t talk much last night. I came her to talk… at least first.”
“You said you loved me, but no, we didn’t really talk, didn’t have a discussion.”
“We need to. My future is suddenly kind of mind boggling open, but its probably not time to talk yet. I’m not sure what to say. Other than I love you. The rest is so uncertain.”
“Because of your discharge?”
Trevor nodded and touched her cheek tenderly. “It happened suddenly and leaves me needing to work out a couple of things.”
“Can I help?”
He kissed her. “No. I’m delighted you want to help, but I’m still getting used to the idea that my days in the Army are numbered. I need to make some decisions.” He laughed. “Actually, I have to decide what decisions I have to decide on. After I do that we can talk.”
“You can’t tell me what you have to decide even?”
He grinned. “Life, the universe… everything.”
She sighed. Expecting Trevor to tell her before he worked things out was a bad idea. He wasn’t made that way. If she could encourage him to share, she’d be doing well. But he hadn’t been in a relationship built on trust. The rules of engagement would have to be worked out. “Fair enough. As long as it isn’t anything important.”
“Excellent.”
“Another promise I want to extract from you while you are naked and vulnerable.”
“Which is?”
“That no matter what you decide, you won’t hide it from me.”
“Once I’ve decided, I’ll tell all. Is that it?”
“Actually, no.” She kissed him, tasting his lips. “I need you to fuck me again before you leave to your hermitage.”
“That’s the best offer I’ve had all morning.”
Finding Paul standing at her door was a surprise. A pleasant one, but still. Seeing his apprehensive look, she invited him in.
“I wasn’t sure I’d be welcome.”
“Of course you are. I hoped you’d come by. But I treated you badly and didn’t know if you’d forgive me.”
“I wanted to see you, make sure you were okay,” he said, when they were seated in the living room. He shook his head. “I can’t tell you how much you are missed at the office.”
“Is that my ex boss talking, or my friend?”
“You know, that’s where I outsmarted myself. I thought I was clever enough to play both roles, and somehow keep them separate. I’m afraid pretending I could be both set me up for a fall. When the shit hit the fan I reacted as an injured lover, and not the boss and colleague of a person who would never, ever, do something like that or worse, lie about it. The entire thing caught me so off guard that I fell for the story—it was too incredulous not to be true. And now I am so agonizingly embarrassed it makes me sick. I didn’t wind up acting like a good boss or a good friend.”
“This entire thing situation is almost funny.”
“It’s sad. Sick. Trust me, I know sick. I’m a doctor, some of the time, at least.”
“And now?”
“I know it’s a trumped up charge.”
“How do you know?”
“Captain Foster explained the entire dreary mess. The poor woman making the charges believes them even after finding out that it wasn’t you.” He shook his head.
She sighed. “I made a mistake too. When she called, I thought she was a bit wacko, but I didn’t realize how far she’d drifted from center.”
“So Trevor gave me a written statement to the board. I handed it in along with my own written statement that says that anyone who thinks you’d behave unprofessionally is, in my professional opinion, out of their gourd. As a result of my compelling logic, and the outcome of a rather baffling interview they conducted with Tina, the unofficial word is that the slow wheels of justice are grinding toward spitting out a complete exoneration.”
“How many metaphors died in that statement?”
“Just two. One survived with minor injuries. The point being, you are off the hook and can soon return to the fold.”
“I’m in no rush. There is a lot to consider here.”
“And you need to talk things over with Trevor?”
She smiled. “You know that he loves me?”
“And that you love him. Easy call for a certified boss shrink. Besides he told me over drinks at my favorite pub. He’s a damn good darts player. I had to buy all the drinks.”
“That doesn’t seem in keeping with the patient/client protocols.”
“Well, I figured we’d already screwed thos
e up so good that I couldn’t see much point in sweating it. Besides, I needed a beer.”
“And he told you that he was getting out.”
He nodded. “That too. I’m sorry he’s in pain, but I think it was the right thing for him.”
“I thought you were ready to send him off to war.”
“Turned out we were fresh out of snare drums. Besides, he’s struggling with the entire reality of being madly in love with you.”
She laughed. “Hardly that.”
“Exactly that. I know what it feels like, only I have the unrequited version, which means I need to move on.”
She let out a long breath. “I knew he had feelings for me, but his declaration was sudden and I wasn’t expecting that.”
“I told him to take advantage of surprise. You are incredibly difficult to surprise and makes a poor man feel extraordinarily clever when he manages it. We have to take our small satisfactions where we can.”
“You are my friend. A great friend.”
He sighed. “Ever the bridesmaid. Well it’s a small satisfaction to settle for friendship when you really were looking for undying love but, as we say in shrink school, ‘it’s better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.’”
“As always, quick with the sophisticated clinical analysis, Paul.”
“I aim to please. I take it you two are making plans?”
“He is. But he’s keeping the cards face down for the moment. He’s got something in mind, but he won’t say what it is. Something monumental, I suspect.”
“See. You are back to enjoying yourself already, resilient person that you are.” He stood up. “Well, I think I’ve probably said too much, violated all manner of personal confidence canons, but I don’t give a fuck. Now I’ll go home. Thanks to you I’ve been reading Celine, you know. He definitely has a handle on the seamy. A therapist could learn a thing or two from him.”
“Thanks Paul.” She kissed his cheek and he smiled. “Okay, maybe I can deal with being friends after all. I’m easy.”
“You’re a pain in the ass.”
“That too.”
When he left Diane knew she was very lucky. One friend like Paul was a gem.
Chapter 12
The next day Diane faced the ethics committee. It was almost amusing the way they felt the need to reprimand her for allowing the situation to develop. It probably took the sting out of having to admit that the charges were false and then tell her that the fact of her innocence was accepted. There wouldn’t be any mark on her record and she could go back to work.
From there she went to see Paul.
“Tina is getting treatment,” he said after she gave him her news. “Seems she went into a rage at her office when she found out that Trevor was a future civilian. She had big plans and they involved the freshly minted major. He’s getting his promotion, by the way, which will boost his disability pay, if nothing else. Anyway, the company called in Tina’s husband and apparently that made things worse. She went berserk enough that he had her committed.”
“How did you find out?”
“Shrink to shrink stuff. The guy assigned to her case called me to sort out how much of her story was actually true and how much was nutty shit. Turns out that most of the stuff he didn’t believe was the true bits. Gave him a bit of a start.” He smiled. “Some people don’t get reality. How about you? Are you ready to go back to work?”
She shook her head. “Part of me is aching to work, but I can’t come back here.”
Paul looked hurt. “I guess trust is gone.”
“Not my trust in you, Paul. It’s the Army. I turned my diagnoses of Trevor on myself— I’m not able to work effectively in this military environment. I’d probably do more good for these boys by picking up cases at the VA hospital after the Army has written them off.”
“Can I run away from home too?”
“I’m not running away, just moving to something new.”
“With Trevor.”
“I still haven’t heard what he has in mind.”
Paul grinned. “I know something you don’t,” he intoned in a nasal singsong voice.
“What?”
“I promised not to tell.”
“But you’re my friend.”
“That’s why I’ll make you wait. The anticipation will make it better.”
She handed him a folder. “Here is my resignation. I also wrote a bunch of lies about what a great boss you are, in case you need to boost your career, or just your ego.”
“Sounds like better reading than Celine.”
“You’ll like the ending. I promise.”
Diane waited impatiently through another day before she decided she had to act. She took a shower, dressed, and got in her car, heading to Trevor’s address. She wasn’t sure he’d be home and considered calling, but if he wasn’t at home, if she had to wait, she could do it just as easily sitting in her car in front of his apartment as sitting at home. Not as comfortably, but that didn’t matter now. Her heart was demanding to see him again, her body craved his touch. She’d become addicted to the man.
She knew his withdrawal was part of his need to be in charge. Even out of the Army he’d always be that way and if she intended to be with him, she had to accept that. No matter how much he respected her or loved her, he had to be in charge.
Her knees carried her unsteadily up the sidewalk to his front door; her hand shook as she knocked. He answered, looking disheveled and wearing pajama bottoms. She doubted he’d slept much recently. When he saw her on his doorstep, looks of surprise, pleasure, and concern all flickered over his face. “Should you be here?”
“It’s over. I’m no longer an evil person, but made whole by the blessing of the powers that be.”
“Paul said…”
“Never mind him. You said you would decide things. Have you done that?”
He nodded. “I was going to call. I wanted things clear in my head first.”
“So did I.” She walked in through the door, and he stepped aside, watching her. “I’ve quit my job.”
“But…”
“I had to. They’ve lost faith in me, and I was in a rut. I need a change.”
“What will you do?” She smiled at his stunned expression. “You are helping people. Were helping people.”
“I can help people somewhere else and not have to fight to do it. I’d have no future at all working for the Army and it isn’t a battle that interests me, Trevor. Not any more. ”
“What does interest you?”
She put her hands flat on his chest and looked up into his blue eyes. “You interest me, Trevor. The truth is that I’m madly in love with you. I want you and I want you to want me. I need you.” She stepped back slightly and undid her blouse, opening it, and then slipping her arms around his waist, pressed her breasts against his bare torso, soaking the warmth of his body into hers. She turned her head and pressed her cheek against that powerful chest. “Tell me what will you want to do.”
She listened to the beating of his heart as he held her, not trying to hug her tight, or kiss her, justing pressing her against his chest as if he wanted to absorb her and she feared she’d pass out standing there, her face against his hard chest, feeling his arms around her as she waited for him to speak. Whatever he said would be one of the most important things she’d ever heard—it would tell her how he really felt about her. After all this, all they’d been through, that mattered more to her than anything in her world.
His cheek rubbed her hair, and his hands stroked her back. “You’re trembling,” he said, as if it surprised him.
“Yes.” Apprehension, anticipation, desire, joy, all took turns toying with her as she waited.
“You want to decide what happens next.”
The pounding of her pulse in her ears grew deafening. “Yes.” Please don’t torment me this way. Anguish, the desire to scream welled up in her throat.
He touched her face and a rush of euphoria ran through her. That magical to
uch made everything new, exciting, and wonderful. His hand ran over her body, and even through her clothes elicited goosebumps that followed just behind his roaming hand, to cover her breasts and stomach and pussy. She was a vibrating bundle of goosebumps and mad desire, and when he scooped her up in his strong arms and carried her to his bed, she was sure this must be heaven. “I want you. I’m going to fuck you.”
